Givenchy launched their fragrance for men in September 2008 and it was advertised by pop star Justin Timberlake. These fragrant creations Givenchy Play are a work of perfumers Emilie Coppermann and Lucas Sieuzac (Symrise), from direction of Françoise Donche, the perfume nose of the house of Givenchy. The perfume in EDT strength Givenchy Play is created of notes of bitter orange, grapefruit, black pepper and patchouli.
How disappointing. . . . I have always had such high expectations for Givenchy, especially considering that they have created two fragrances that I absolutely adore (Gentleman & Pi). This product however is nothing short of average. Play is almost identical to Ck Crave, which is now discontinued and is practically a clone of Happy by Clinique. Sadly, Happy is not that much different from Acqua Di Gio (it has a tad bit more citrus) and Acqua Di Gio is arguably the most ubiquitous scent in America. I was expecting more, and not just because of the producer, but because grapefruit is one of my favorite notes amongst fresh colognes (See 212 by Carolina Herrera). All in all, I yawn.
