Great product from a bygone era
I was very happy to receive this order for perfume, as I was given a bottle about 30 years ago, I loved it at the time and could not find it anywhere until I found it on your site
The Ma Griffe perfume is not the same lovely fragrance that I remember wearing back in the 70's. I can never understand why these perfume companies have to reformulate a beautiful perfume using cheaper and stinkier ingredients!
Takes me back to my 20's when I was really happy! Can't wait to have it again. Makes me feel sexy.
Where do I get the original version?
I know this says its for evening use, I would beg to differ I would definitely classify this as a daytime fragrance. Perfect for work or afternoon tea. This is too light and soapy for evening use. I would not even consider it.
Does Ma Griffe smell a lot like YSL's Rive Gauche? I read somewhere that it did. Thank you!
I used this perfume in the 50s and 60s. It is my all time favorite. Does anyone know where I can buy the "PURE PERFUME"-it is very different from the lesser strenghts.I would love to find some.
have used & loved ma griffe for 20 yrs cant get it here in perth west australia now, miss it,i smell my old empty bottles for just a hint of it
MaGriffe was on my mom's 2005 Christmas list. While searching for it I was told by several distributors that that the co. that made MG was bought out. At that time no one knew if the new co. would begin making it.
Hi Sara, thanks for you help, i take it parfum de toilette is edp? ive never come across a pdt before, btw my hubby likes it too! thanks again, Helen.
PDT stands for Parfum de Toilette. I agree Ma Griffe is a lovely perfume- very sexy (he says!)
I just purchased this because of all the nice posts about it, wow! am i glad i did! this is so lovely and light i think this will become my new summer fragrance, bought it in PDT does anyone know what PDT is? is it cologne or Edt? also has a similarity to Rive Gauche, wonderful scent, 10 stars from me.
Oh my goodness,"MARY VAN DER BOSCH"You are so right! this perfume is so beyond fantastic!I had to laugh as she was introduced in 70s too,As I was in a cute"scratch n sniff"in Seventeen mag!It was love at first sniff!haha.then a friend in 1984 found a bottle at the hospital gift shop where I had just had my son,and gave it to me as a gift. Was the last bottle!ThinkI went into withdrawl!! Later I did find a small magazine that had dozens of old but great perfumes in it,so trust me theres places to find it....thanks,it's great,Carolyn~
My first REAL perfume as an 18 yr. old in the early 70's. I LOVE IT STILL! Couldn't find it for awhile---I ordered it finally from you several months ago. PLEASE keep it in stock at a reasonable price. It is classy, elegant, and timeless!
I used to be able to find Ma Griffe everywhere in all different amounts, but now it is very scarce. Does anyone know what has happened?
what a lovely seductive perfume madame de carven was !!!!! where is it ??? though i remember that i had fallen for the perfume concentrate and when it was over and i could not get the concentrate anymore i had substituted it with the eau de toilette......BIG MISTAKE !!! it was nothing like the juice and just made me miss the extrait even more eachtime i used it !
have loved this perfume since the 60s when I first noticed it on my shorthand & typing teacher! Still wear it - still love it.
This has been my fragrance as long as I have worn any fragrance. Can't live without it...and am finding it very difficult to find...keep making it and having it available.
When I smell this I think of summer nights, wind singing through bamboo and weeping willows trees. I always smile when I smell this on another woman, so very rare lately.
I've adored this fragrance for 40 years. Very woodsy and clean. My husband agrees!
Where can one find this fragance of a lifetime in November 2005? I still have the empty sample bottle of Ma Griffe that I ordered in the 1960s from a magazine. It was easy to find in department stores until the 80s -- still available in Paris in the late 1990s -- where can I buy the real thing today? Many thanks.
Ma Griffe was my very first fragrance back in the sixties and since then I've tried many other scents but always come back to Ma Griffe. It smells and makes me feel wonderful and I'm often asked what it is I'm wearing. It's a different and unique fragrance, not a scent that is commonly worn so you won't smell like eveyone else. Incidentally, back in the sixties I read somewhere that this was Yoko Ono's favourite scent.
Wow!!!! What a lovely fragrance. I was very fortunate to get my hands on a vintage full bottle of the EDT and I loved it instantly. I think it's called the mistifier EDT and it smells good. I see why so many people like it. I collect vintage perfumes and already it's one of my favorites. I also like Imprevu by Coty. I give it 5 stars.
I too have loved this perfume since the early eighties, but when I bought it again it smelt cheap and nasty, this is a great shame.
I tried this perfume in 1965 when I was 12 years old and have worn it ever since. I have always gotten comments on how wonderful I smell! On elevators I have had businessmen ask what I was wearing and they loved it!
As a teen in the 70's, I had the perfume...beautiful stuff...boy what a difference in the perfume and then what I got a short while ago in the EDT...the EDT STUNK...and I mean STUNK!!! What a horrible disappointment...someone posted that the formulation had changed...what a tragedy...the perfume was one of my great loves....
This is the loveliest perfume ever. I read somewhere that it is the favorite perfume of John Lennon's wife.
this is my favorite perfume. it has a very floral scent but it is not the kind that smells too sweet. it also has a mossy fragrance which blends well with the flowery background scent. it leaves a trace of light and fresh fragrances which is perfect when your looking for that "afterbath" smell. this is simply the best ive ever tried.
I love this fragrance. I purchased it on-line and had never smelled it before. The first time I sprayed it on and even the first few times I wore it I wasn't sure I really liked it that much. It almost seemed too mossy. But at least on me the mossy-ness disappears in a few minutes and what is left is a very light, clean scent. Perfect for summer. Very subtle and unique. I can tell this is one perfume that I will rebuy when the bottle is empty. Also, very resonably priced. Try it!
The first time i tried it i wasn`t impressed at all.But soon it became one of my most loved fragrances. Green-slightly woody, powdery very nice!!
has anyone found ma griffe bath powder? all i can find is the talc. that will do for now. If I find before you do I'll let y'all know too! thanks and happy searching! catherine
has anyone had any luck finding bath powder or body lotion, bath gel or any other ma griffe products?? please share your info with your other ma griffe pals!
I started using this fragrance when I was a teenager in the 60's and I always loved it. Troughout the years I have often bought Ma Griffe but to my great disappointment the fragrance has been changed from the original, the one you get these days is nowhere near the same as before!!!! Pity!!!
I WILL WANT ANYONE TO GIVE ME THIS PARFUM AGIAN
I love the bath power, but can't find it anywhere. Suggestions?
hello, just a little info on ma griffe. the phrase "ma griffe means, in french my signature, as in your name, therefore the designer mademoiselle carven named this fragrance her signature fragrance. thought this was rather interesting! this is a nice light summer scent that reminds me too of rive gauche.
Used this years ago, from LA's old Bullock's Wilshire. Does anyone know if it's sold in ANY store?
The first time I bought this fragrance I did not like it. But as time went I came across it again and decided to give it another try! I am glad I did! It's a outdoorsy kind of scent. I usually mix my fragrances and come up with some good combinations.
Strange fragrance, it smell of citronella candles.
I sprayed this on at a deparment store and I did not like it. The top notes are so sharp and strange smelling sort of like a floor cleaner. I smelled my wrist an hour later and I was amazed on how the fragrance changed to a soft spicy citrusy smell, It was not too bad actually I started to like it. I wont be purchasing this since there are so many other fragrances I would rather wear, but I just wanted to comment on how the dry down of this fragrance is quite nice.
In my teens I once took a summer job at a local boutique where several of the regular customers wore this fragrance. These ladies had impeccable taste. All the perfume experts catagorize Ma Griffe as a fragrance for evening wear. I could not disagree more. It is light, fresh, woodsy, mossy, very green - and - will forever remind me of warm summer afternoons.

Soft, light, subtle. It's the kind I like. Amazingly well balanced citrusy, flowery, mossy scent. Excellent for day time, any season.
For me this is the best veryday fragrance you could wear. It is so light and green and not aggressive at all. Very subtle, powdery, woodsy drydown.
Great everyday scent, nice present for people who don't like sultry perfumes. Less agressive and more wearable then the modern 'fresh' scents. Nice clean and soapy. to me, a nice cinnamon note in it! It lasts well for this kind of fragrance.
Aimee's description is right on, except for the comparison to British Sterling; I don't detect this at all. Green, woody, and on me (probably most) a very powdery dry down. When I don't really want to wear a perfume, this is the one I'd go for; very subtle and clean.
This is an elusive citrusy-green scent that is delicate and clean smelling. I like to combine it with Fendi and Ivoire.
This is a pretty, light, simple, clean, everyday-type of fragrance that is not offensive and can be worn anywhere. It's also in a class of its own; not too citrusy, woodsy or flowery. It is unique and it's sure to please.
To Senator: No luck here. I, too, have been searching. Hear that distributors?
I disagree with Aimee. Ma Griffe is a lovely scent...one of the few I can wear. It is nothing like British Sterling...a cheap smelling, stinky men's fragrance. And I find no powdery after effect. If i did I couldn't wear it.
It's the nicest "green" and woody perfume I tried. It's from the '50's and I'm glad it's still around. It's a classic, elegant and good for daytime and work.
A truly classic perfume. Not especially flowery or sweet. An avant garde fragrance if you will. Even though it's light and powdery (but still long lasting) people will definitely take notice. Aldehydic, but not sour and pungent like White Linen.
At first it has a similarity to Rive Gauche; then men's cologne(British Sterling?); ending with a silky, edible, musk & powder smell.
Looking for ma griffe by Carven bath powder. Have given parfum and spray for years. Have not seen their powder for a long time.
