At best bearable on cold weather & prolonged periods of inactivity .. Should you wear this one a hot day & happen to sweat a bit you will reak of stale Body Odour .... what were they thinking ?

  • JUDE C11/01/2007

What can I say here - this stuff is ok. It does have a bit of a Drakkar scent, but with a little more fruit. Its lasting power is average, however the bottle is very nice - if that is worth anything. I got my bottle for so cheap - great sprayer - decent juice. 3.5 stars.

  • BEARSCENT01/19/2007

I really like the way this smells; it is warm, woodsy, and somewhat incense-like (patchouli?), and there is absolutely nothing harsh or disagreeable about it. The only problem is that, on me, it vanishes after just a couple of hours—no chance of even smelling the vestiges of this one on my pillow the next morning! Of all the fragrances I have tried, this without question has the shortest duration on me. There must be something about my skin that just won’t hold it. Still very good, though.

  • SANDRA12/12/2006

This is a fantastic fragrance, very sensual and so much better than the expensive, trendy men's colognes, and let me tell you, when my fiancee' wears it, I can't keep my hands off of him.

  • MY 2 CENTS08/16/2006

A complex masculine scent with a strong, wood smoke aroma and herbal note that dominate for the first two hours, then dissipate somewhat, allowing more subtle, sweeter notes to emerge for a smooth dry down.

A TRULY AMAZING FRAGRANCE, THE LADIES WILL TELL YOU STRAIGHT UP!!!

  • JEFF11/19/2005

How is it that both of you had exactly the same comparison of this cologne and both be so completely wrong? (possible confused with the discontinued Malto Smalto?) Its annoying when one person posts as two different people with the same opinion on every thing. How many more names do you post as here? While most of the time the two of you (two?) have OK reviews, many times you are giving 5 stars to some really weak fragrances and saying how great they are. As self proclaimed "Cologne Masters", you owe it to the readers of these reviews to give an honest assesment, now don't you?

  • JEFF11/18/2005

The launch date for Fransco Smalto was 1986, not 1998 as the banner states. Sorry, I've owned this scent since 1988.

  • JEFF11/18/2005

Sorry "Cologne Masters".........it would better be described as a cross between Polo and Quorum. Where do you smell DN in this??? Any hint of Pine in DN?? Nope. Put the above mentioned together and compare to FS. You'll smell it right away. Regardless of your miscomparisons, this is a great fragrance. Very masculine and assertive typical of scents brewed in the mid '80s. I agree that other scents by Francesco Smalto are all top grade, but miserably marketed.

  • GENE Z08/28/2005

well, if you need a reference, it smells like a crossover between rush by gucci and dupont by s.t. dupont. this brand badly needs better marketing. it's woody, leathery, smokey, yet refreshing and very masculine... about as good as it gets -- so much better than many much less appealing, but more recognizable d & g's, burberrys, armanis and laurens, although virtually unknown in the states. don't be a brand snob, try it!

  • TONY T08/24/2005

very similiar fragrances.. escada copied it and did something else.. not exactly the same but definately on the same page.. i like both though neither are in my top 10. if i had to choose it would be magnetism

  • MARIO JUSTINIANI08/19/2005

Drakkar Noir? Ok at dry down DK does have a slight similarity but Francesco Smalto is , from the start , a 5 star worldclass scent. It's a kind of green woody aromatic (do I have to say chypre?) that is far more arid and hardcore than D.K. If i had to compare it to another wood scent, I'd say it resembles Jacomo de Jacomo--which is the most hardcore of all.

  • CWCRAFT09/19/2004

Love it in small doses - great product, but I have some I bought in 1991 - same fragrance, same bottle, same package design as the "New Stuff" alledgedly created in 1998.

  • R.J.07/14/2004

I AGREE WITH WB. IT'S A NICE, PLEASANT SCENT THAT DOES RESEMBLE DRAKKAR BUT WITHOUT THE CITRUS TOUCH. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH EITHER ONE.

  • W.B.07/14/2004

THIS IS BASICALLY A NUTRASWEETENED VERSION OF DRAKKAR NOIR. OTHER THAN THAT, IT SMELLS GREAT..

  • KAYSIX03/30/2004

It's woody, sweet and sort of soapy, but it smells very good.

  • JEFF03/24/2004

Sorry, but its the same. I have a small bottle I bought over ten years ago....compared to tdays, and it smells just the same. Maybe your sense of smell has changed over the years.

  • LES03/17/2004

Sorry, it is not the same what use to be. I remember realy stuff.

  • LISA01/08/2004

[email protected] if anyone knows where i might be able to find this fragance also made by francesco.. please help, it was discontinued..

  • JEFF12/27/2003

Parlux Fragrances was the distributor for "Franceso Smalto" and "Molto Smalto", but I see from their web site that they have discontinued these items. I have been using them for years, and it is becoming more difficult to find either. Pity, since they are both very fine, quality fragrances. Franceso Smalto is woody and mossy with spices and Molto Smalto is sweet and spicy. Both are excellent scents and buy 'em if you can find 'em.

  • MARIUSZ01/24/2003

One of my best. So masculine but not too heavy. Long lasting. Like no others. I love this scent and bought 2 bottles (hard to get).

  • HONEY10/02/2002

Lovely scent, However, I wish it was available in Canada, so it would be easier to get more. And that the older scent be more available, than the new one.

  • ALLEGROCONBRIO6912/26/2001

This fragrance very much resembles Drakkar Noir, but it's lighter and sweeter. It's definitely a sleeper of the bunch. Very nice!

  • MJ06/01/2001

Why can I not get Francesco Smalto in after shave anymore? Did they stop making it??
