Sira des Indes perfume by Jean Patou is a thoroughly modern Oriental gourmand fragrance tendered with a sensual, mystic heat. With a perfectly balanced blend of unique ingredients Sira Des Indes is the ideal scent for the modern of today. Sira des Indes perfume includes notes of magnolia champaca, banana accord, bergamot, pear, red berries, cardamom, musk, amber, vanilla and sandalwood. The name refers to the South Indian dessert of cream of wheat, butter and sugar, which is usually served with banana slices on the side. It is also a tribute to Sita, the loyal queen from the epic Ramayana and the Sari.
Happened upon an unopened set that had been donated to a thrift store and decided to try it. I'm a Tiffany woman for years. I used it frequently until gone. Within a week, I began to miss that scent - much more than I had imagined. My new bottle arrived today. Heavenly. The dry down on my skin is not reminiscent of bananas. It is deeply earthy and with a hint of spice. In my cabinet, second only to Tiffany.
Alla, I absolutely HATE bananas. I can't stand to eat them, smell them or touch them. But, I LOVE Sira Des Indes. I think it is one of the best fragrances out there. The only other one that comes close is Missoni. This just demonstrates once again - different strokes for different folks!
The other day I was going to the mall to Neimans and had a banana for lunch in the car(in a hurry, lunch hour).Left the peel in the car ,went to neimans to get what I needed and sprayed some of Sira des Indes. Smelled georgeus at first. Then it dried down and the smell got biterrly sweet. It remainded me of something. I went back to my car.To my suprise, my car smelled similar to my wrist.I smeeled the old banana peel that I left in the car before I went to the store. The dry down of Sira on my skin smells like old banana peel. Not a rotten banana peel, but still not pleasant. I read the ingredients in the perfume .One of them is banana. It would have been a great fragrance if it wasn't for banana. It ruins it.
After wearing Sira des Indes for a while now, I can tell you that it lasts, but it does not announce itself. It is a very subtle fragrance that stays close to the skin. It is a gorgeous fragrance, but not for those of you who want your scents to precede you into a room.
Rhonda, I am wondering the same thing. I sampled it one day but paid no attention to how long it lasted. I will say that this is one of the most incredible fragrances I have ever smelled. The depths of the fruit accords and the florals keep you sniffiing your arm forever. There seems to be no end to the scents one can pick up from this perfume. It is wonderful. I plan to purchase it soon. If it doesn't last, I will just keep putting it on. It is that good.
Does anyone know if this scent is long lasting, or does it fade away quickly. I love sweet scents, but don't want to spend money on something that doesn't last!
This is truly an exotic gourmand perfume but more of the fruity kind, not heavy with patchouli and sharp spices like Angel or Opium, with a modern, slightly classic note. Don't be afraid of the 'banana accord'! You will only smell it in the top note, it then alters into a fruity, round fragrance. It perfectly matches with my other all time favorites that are: 1. Casmir/Chopard 2. Coco/Chanel (divine!) 3. Bois et Fruits/ Les salons du Palais Royal Shiseido 4. Le Chevrefeuille/Annick Goutal 5. J'adore/Christian Dior
