The founding cologne created by Françoise Caron in 1979 and inspired by the smell of undergrowth moist with morning dew, this fragrance has asserted itself as an emblem of Hermès, and stands out for its distinctive freshness. A novella perfume conceived as an explosion of citrus notes with orange playing the central role between zests and leaves, lemon, mandarin, mint and blackcurrant bud. Eau d'orange verte reveals its complexity in a unique sillage comprising oak moss and patchouli.
I've been using this fragrance for over 30 years and lately I have not been able to find it in the 400 ml size. I'm very pleased with the fragrance, the size and the price.
Light and fresh, loved it the first time I smelled it, bought a huge bottle and kept it in the fridge for those hot days when you could splash it on. Like most here say, only prob is it wears off fast. Was that a marketing ploy so we'd buy more or the nature of it's chemical makeup? The lotion is nice too, lasts a little longer.
I had much higher hopes for this one, but to me it is much too medicinal or antiseptic smelling. Thought it might just be me so I let a coworker sample it too, and he felt the same. Rocabar is a better choice..
if you like the scent of nature, this is the right fragrance for you. The scent of this fragrance is so natural, perfect combination between orange and vetiver. Actually the orange note is not really showed clearly in this fragrance but it still smells nice though.
Air France used to pass this out in their 1st Class travel kit. I would fly them all the time so I accumulated a decent collection. It has a nice touch at the beginning, but fades quickly. It is certainly a "classic", old school scent and in that respect I think it can work well for an older gentleman. Staying power is marginal and frankly for the money there are better fragrances (Dior Fahrenheit, Creed Green Irish Tweed, Essenza di Zegna, Eau Sauvage).
At the Store here in the "H" I let the Jo Malone lady point me to stuff because she has excellent taste and she gave a sample of Hermes D'Orange. A sample, it lasted a few wears and none of my girlfriends like it, but hell I love it. They got the orange just right. Not too sweet or too cool, like citrus can be. Now that I know a concentrate is available I'll actually buy it now.
D'Orange Vert is not a bad man's fragrance. I like colognes with some subtlety and complexity, and this one is a bit too obvious in it's citrus notes. Hermes' best men's fragrance is it's newest..Terre. That one is just wonderful.
a very masculine happy imo. not a teen's fragrance but just a great casual fragrance. one of the better frruitier scents but hands down without a doubt is eddie bauer pure.
Tried this at a store the other day. Reminded me of grey flannel-in fact it smelled almost identical. 15 minutes later it was completely gone, so I couldn't justify a purchase.
I was really excited about this when I sampled it, I commend its originality, and it's for those with a strong sense of individuality (preferrably they also smoke Cuban cigars, have moustaches, and swing from boardroom chairs). However, it is too sharp, and I actually think it might do better as pour femme if they modify it. As pour homme, it's too sharp, and as an eau it doesn't last too long.
Ok, so it ain't Creed but it's refreshing and in about the same category as Ferrari Black or Santa Fe. I like the orange note and dislike the designer price but it's an imperfect world. Hmm...say, if we not so much skip 'Citrus ' or 'Chypre' but demand the color green as well--which would knock off Quasar and Le Roy Soeil--what other crisp clean scents are out there? Any favorite recomendations?
hermes lists this fragrance for men and women!
This is an excellent scent. I love the green and juicy citrus! This is exquisite and will always be on hand!
The Hermes sophisticated response to Dior's Eau Sauvage (highly recommended), minus the persistence. Perhaps the essence will last a bit longer, but the cologne, splashed on in the morning, is gone by the time you get to the office...
It amazing how Hermes was well ahead of its time when they created this scent in 1979. A fresh, natural and very relaxing fragrance was made which really makes you feel confortable. I do not use it for office/work though.....just leave it for the good days in life you can spend with your loved ones. This fragrance is simply good to be around with...Of course the concentreé version made the whole experience even better and much longer lasting!!! Thanks to the precious house of Hermes to take such good care of their customers.
Ok, there are many positive reviews here..and not unworthy- this really is a good fragrance. As most users have noted, it dies down to quickly.
I love the Hermes line of fragrances. My favorite scents are all in the collection. With this in mind I read the description of Orange Verte as Citrus and thought I might not like it. I bought it before I coudl smell it based on how much I loved the others. It is just too lemony! I dont hate it, but I rarely use it. Has to be an occassion like a child's birthday party as to me it is too saccharine, and I LOVE the other scents. I force myself to wear this. It is light and airy, I liek to think it is just me, but I dislike it. I CAN say, out of the lighter, more citrus scents....it is better than most
after reading all this wonderful comments on orange verte and specially the one that said it´s like happy by clinnique (so not true!!, happy is endlessly better!!) i asked my sister to bring me one from paris, of course concentre, because it´s supposed not to last enough, the result: awfull!!!!!, what a dissapointment, orange verte is horrible, absolutelly dated, like something my grandmother will wear, i cannot believe so many people love it, thankfully she also bought me sander man and cool water wich are extraordinary, masculine and contemporary. orange verte now lies on my mom´s perfume tray.
Hermes has finally come out with a concentre' Eau D'Orange Verte! I thought this entire thread might like to know!
Great stuff.I love to wear it during summer months as it is very fresh and the scent of citrus smells excellent.would like to see it last longer though.
I was diggin' this until I noticed it reminded me of Boucheron pour homme. They both open up with the same type of citrus phasad hence, now I don't feel this scent is all that exclusive. Hermes has a wonderful new scent that I don't want to mention but I would like to see it in production for a long time. It is the Mediterreanee. Yes, it is unisex but it is woody and green. This scent is so refreshing and much more longer lasting than the orange verte. It is expensive but in my opinion, it is so exclusive and great smelling that you are sure not to smell like anyone else. Having said this I feel that the cost is justified. Give it a try!
Great smell, wont bore you with poncy analysis...just buy
My personal favorite unisex citrus Eau de Cologne; Eau d’ Orange Verte is wonderfully fragrant of oranges and tantalizingly fruity. Superb. But, as everyone’s been mentioning here – as it’s only an EdC, it’s pretty weak. Splash on generously and you’ll smell delicious – for about an hour or two. If Hermes would only make an Eau de Toilette of this baby, it’d be one of my top three or four summer fragrances, for sure. I really hope they will.
if they were to produce it as an "eau de toilette" it would be worth it to buy it. I was given "eau d'orange verte" to try (not a gift). I love it, but as far as I am concerned it is eau de cologne, and nothing more. Which means, it barely lasts on you!
Bought it on recommendations and was satisfied with how it was described below. Good scent but not great. Too weak and the smell is too sweet for a man and not citriusy enough.
I DISCOVERED THIS AMAZING ONE WHEN RECENTLY VACATIONING IN RIO DE JANEIRO. JUST WISH IT LASTED LONGER. A MUCH NEEDED TOILETTE MUST BE IN THE WORKS.
This smells great, but it last 2 seconds on you
THIS COLOGNE IS AVERAGE, NICE ORANGE SMELL.....LASTS VERY SHORT TIME....I USE IT AS AFTERSHAVE.....IT'S TOO CHEAP SMELLING TO WEAR OUT!!!
MIKE TRY 'BOUCHERON POR HOMME', IT'S ONE OF THE FINEST EVER CREATED.....VERY ELEGANT, FRESH NOT OVERPOWERING SCENT, HOPE THIS HELPS
i was wonderig which cologne would you guys recommend me the most? i dont want a real strong one, and i want one that smells good..........please help me out
I just tried this in Sephora today when I couldn't find my usual DKNY and bought a bottle. I too wish it came in a lotion, but I found a complimentary LIME lotion in the Floris line and I think layering will work fine. Now I find out DKNY has NOT been discontinued after all but it's good to switch scents every so often. It clears the palate!
I JUST DONT´UNDERSTAND WHY HERMES DOESN´T DO THE EAU DE TOILETTE ANYMORE, THIS EAU DE COLOGNE LASTS FEW MINUTES. BUT THE FRAGANCE IS A REALLY EXPERIENCE. PERFECT FOR ALL THE AGES, SEASONS AND OCASIONS.
eau de colognes are fantastic. this one in particular is something that will definitely set you apart. Being an eau de cologne, you can spray and spray and spray. This one starts out with a delightful citrus (that is not really orange, despite the name) but gently settles to a true woodsy (almost cedar) scent whilst not being very sweet. Excellent. guaranteed you will feel great after bathing in this.
Love it but its too short lived.
My favorite Hermes scent. Refreshing and fun but only if it lasted longer.
The name says it all. Exteme orange smell, but that's not bad. Clean and crisp. Definitly a summer scent. Much better than Hugo Boss' attempt at an orange scent!!
freshhhhhhh
While browsing for a new fragrance (Burberry is great... but it's getting old), I found this with the Women's fragrances. Thought it smelled a little masculine, and surely enough... there it was in the Men's section as well. I love citrus scents, but can't find a women's citrus scent that isn't overpowered by florals. Too bad the scent does not last longer. Wish they made a body lotion.
perfect citrus
I just receive this in the mail. I ordered the gift set w/ shampoo and small soap. Smells excellent. Not overpowering and very crisp. The only drawback is the scent wears off very quickly, but all you have to do is re-apply. highly reccomended!!!!
The top notes are amazing, it's a sharp, nicely defined citrus scent. The bottom note including patchuli is slightly less pleasing, but overall this one's a winner. It's biggest flaw? It's an eau de cologne and a touch weak; ideally it would last longer.
I absolutely love this scent. Just about every time I wear it out I will have someone ask me what it is that I have on.
Although marketed mostly to men, it's a very lovely scent that's very clean and uplifting, not too heavy or cloying for a woman. Nice in summer.
A wonderful fragrance for the summer. It is not in the least overpowering. I find that it gives me a 'lift' when I wear it.The only downside is that it only comes in eau de cologne strength instaed of the usual eau de toilette strength, so as a result it does'nt last as long as it might.
One of the few citrus based scents that doesn't leave a dizzying cloud of the wrong and most overpowering citrus properties. The Orange is very unique and exceptionally mild which allows one to wear it at any occasion, though warmer weather is best for bringing out its herbal undertones and mossy layers. This scent is often overlooked and therefore qualifies as a top three on my list of secret weapons. Also, try mixing this fragrance as an overlayer and use an original bay rum to form an intoxicating blend of tropical breezes.
terrific fresh classic. like guerlain's or annick goutal's lighter herbals
One of my favorites . . . citrusy, fresh, balanced. You can never put on too much; fabulous in warmer weather. Highly wearable!
This is a fabulous scent. Everytime I go to strip clubs, the strippers find it irresistable!!
I purchased this from you. My wife absolutely loves it. It has a very nice scent. Not overpowering. Just great!
While on a business trip to Paris, my husband was given free samples of the Hermes D'Orange Vert in his hotel room, and as soon as he arrived at the airport, it was driving me CRAZY! I LOVE this scent! It doesn't smell as good directly from the bottle but once applied, Pure Heaven! Recommend it!
Well, I would like to know where in Brazil I can find Hermes for Men. Thank you
