to like this; it's spicey, but, not too remarkable to me. This def. is a more 'mature' scent. Love the bottle though!

Everyone for years has gone on and on about this for years but I've never cared for it for years. Zanzibar I think is just a finer smelling fragrance by far.
After hearing much about VC&A I decided to give a try. Am trying to get used to it, I think my dad would feel quite in place with the scent. Am used to the fresh scents and this is quite an overwhelming scent. Maybe I used too much of it. I'll try it again in two weeks time, hopefully I'll discover what its all about.
There were times when I couldn't decide whether to wear Antaeus or Van Cleef & Arpels. After some time I can get sick of Antaeus (if I can constantly smell it on myself). With Van Cleef & Arpels this never happens, I just can't get enough of it and can repeatedly smell my wrist. If I haven't smelt Antaeus in a longer time, I start to yearn for it and I switch to Antaeus. It is such a pity that I cannot smell these great scents on myself like I would smell it on another person who happens to be passing by me. Only the first spray smells that great, when you get yourself a new bottle after a long time. At least Van Cleef & Arpels is a cologne that I can smell all the time without getting fed-up. I wish I could stick to one signature scent, but I can't. I obviously have to switch between a handful of great classics ...
My husbanad 1st bought this cologne 26 years ago (we were dating) and it has been my favorite since then. This scent was developed to capature women's senses. Ladies, when you smell a man wearing VC&A you'll be hooked. I am still married to the man (25 years), who loves me enough to spend his extra money on this genie in a bottle, so I can fall in love everytime he wears it. Ditto SUNCHAY, ART HISTORIAN, RN, THOMAS.
I've been wearing the Givenchy line for 15 years when I first read about Van Cleef & Arpel's fragrance in a novel. The hero raved so much on the sophistication and overwhelming power of VC&A perfume that I had to try it for myself. Everything the book claims is true - VC&A Pour Homme Cologne is by far one of the best masculine fragrances I had the pleasure to wear. It's now at the top of my list along with Xeryus Rouge by Givenchy.
There will never be another painter like van Delft. And there will never be another fragrance like this one by van Cleef. Dark like a romantic ghost story by Poe, sensual like a Shakespearian sonnett, and lingering like...hopeless love. Just a smell of this is worth fifty dollars...no, really !
Smells nice...perhaps a little outdated by today's standards. It's definitely unique and strong. Spray LIGHTLY!! I was unsure if I wanted to keep it as part of my collection, since I already have way too many colognes; however, I gave this one another try just the other day and received positive affirmation. As I was standing in a dining facility line (I'm in the military), the woman in front of me kept turning around several times. Finally she said "Pardon me, are you wearing cologne?" I shyly told her I was, hoping it wasn't an offensive smell (did I mention this was strong?). She replied "I thought so. It smells incredible." She stepped directly in front of me so she could bend in and smell my neck with a big smile on here face, repeating again how much she loved that smell. Hmmm...good enough for me. I guess I'm keeping it now with a response like that. I certainly didn't expect it considering how everyone nowadays is used to "fresh" and/or "clean" smells. I still don't believe this is for the younger crowd...they might not appreciate the statement it makes. I truly didn't expect the great response I received.
Rich, classy, and masculine. THE perfect fragrance when you dress "up". Not too pretentious or loud yet possesses a calm, assured presence. The Cary Grant of men's fragrances.
Very sophisticated and classic scent. I ALWAYS get women's response when I wear this. This is for Romantic and Upscale evenings. My 2nd choice is Eau Savage by Christain Dior, but this THE BEST for being with that SPECIAL woman in your life.
The classic Van Cleef & Arpels cologne for men is THE BEST of all men's colognes, EDT, etc ... Rich, solid, smoky and oaky with touches of pine and citrus; you can never go wrong with this. Not for "casual wear" though.
Van Cleef is a more arid, more mature version of Paco Rabanne pour homme. They both have this sharp, intense, powdery fourgere thing going on – but Paco is a warmer, friendlier, more playful scent. Van Cleef is a little drier, a little colder. It’s still pretty good, though. Maybe Paco for play, and Van Cleef for business?
I've given this to my husband for years! It just smells so clean, rich, and sophisticated. I know the evening will end romantically.
As one would expect, a very, very formal fragrance. I only wear it in black tie. The women in my life have liked the fragrance, but don't find it particularly sexy.
That's exactly what this smells like. I'm not being facetious or exaggerating - this smells just like vomit. Wouldn't recommend.
Van Cleef & Arpels sets the standard.
along with santos de cartier this is probably the best to hit the market. you cant go wrong at any age or occasion.
It's one of my favorite fragrances.Van Cleef is a REAL french fragrance. One of those that they don't make anymore. It's unique, incredibly rich, sexy and very masculine. This is definitely what I look for in a mens perfume.
I love this scent it so rich and smells so very expensive. Tsar can not hold a candle to this one. It is getting harder to find glad it can be found here.
The original. Sex in a bottle that gets great results. You almost don't need anyone else. :)
