this is a beautiful perfume..it is very subtle.. its mostly bergamot ..I was given it after my friends went to Paris..its supposed to be for blondes...but if you feel it, give it a try!!! jIve been wearing it for years..and people want to know what Im wearing. It was created in 1918.
Love it. It's an old fragrance...
The original was amazing, the current version is pleasant enough but lacks the magic. Is the original still available anywhere in Europe?
I have been looking for this perfume for years, thankyou
I really like green florals and was looking forward to Vent Vert after reading fabulous reviews. However, it was as rare as too green for me (I love Chanel no. 19) and the tea note really annoyed my nose. I tested the original and perhaps the new version would appeal more to me although the versions appear to be very different.
this was a gift for my mother in law - it's her favourite perfume & she was absolutely thrilled to receive it!
Love the original and decidedly not what was packaged as it later. Where may I purchase it ?
I used the original back in the 60's. Then couldn't find it anymore. Crossing the English Channel on the ferry, I purchased 3 bottles of the original. Have just a little left. The new stuff smells horrible. Why did they change the scent and still call it Vent Vert.
Without exception including CHANEL #5, which doesen't work on my skin chemistry, I adore this 1947 BALMAIN scent, so hard to find in the original. Such a romantic, yet not cloying perfume, the freshness and innocence of VENT VERT bespoke the post- World War 2 promise of Spring, a time of renewal after terrible years of wintry bleakness! To this day, I adore as my favorite signature scent BALMAIN'S VENT VERT, and find the newer version inferior, really not the same at all.
Too bad this fragrance does not come in a parfum strength. It is a unique and lovely scent, but has little holding power. Also, how about a non-spray bottle that one can use to refill purse sprays. ??? Hope P. Balmain checks out these comments!!
I here that this is not the 'original', which is probably correct. But some years back I found the original perfumed body lotion and it is not in the same box as the edt. In fact it a light green box. It must be the original scent because it even smells different, fierce green, It has a square cap that fits the square hard plastic bottle. Even the box it's in looks dated. It is a concentrated lovely scent. Does anyone have an old original? I would like to know if the lotion I have is the original way it is suppose to smell!
I am from Brazil, and I looked for Vent Vert for many years, when I found it in a site I bought it right away. My daughters are young and love it too. It´s a different fragance. We can smell it all day long and you do not get sick as a lot of florals I´ve seen and smelled. It´s perfect! I had the opportunity to have "the old Vent Vert", I used to work in a Bank and one client gave one to me, as a gift for Christmas. I have never seen up to now a perfum like this. Wonderful!!!
When I was a teenager, my aunt gave me a bottle of Vent Vert. Although I never have worn much fragrance, the old Vent Vert was a fresh scent that raised my spirits. This stuff smells like gumballs.
I first used V.V. in the 60's or 70's and loved its fresh, sharp scent. What happened? For years I could not find it and then through the miracle that is online shopping there it was again. I've tried it recently and thought I had forgotten how it really smelled. Now that I see that others share my dismay about the new scent I feel reassured about my memory but still sad at the loss of that wonderful original fragrance.
When I was 12 years old, I opened a bottle of Vent Vert that I found in my cousin's suitcase. It was like all the best of summer. Recently, I was so disappointed to find the formula changed to something candy-like. I read that the original formula was changed for being "too green." How can this be?
I haven't been able to find VV in a few years. Wow! the new one is even better! Vive Pierre Balmain and Vent Vert!
Have you tried Eau de Campange by Sisley? This unisex scent really smells clean, fresh cut grass without any sweetness. Vent Vert is sweetwer but I like it too.
Dinna is right...this 'new' Vent Vert is awful...If you're old enough to have worn the original -- well then, you're VERY lucky! PLEASE bring it back!!
I have a beautiful memory of the wonderful, sharp, fresh and original scent that used to be Vent vert. It was the only one of its kind. This new smell is just that, a smell, and not a very nice one, too sweet and common. Balmain: Please don´t throw away a wonderful scent when you have found one, they are too rare in this world of obscenely sweet perfumes.
Anyone tried this? I got a sample and adore it! I just have not seen it for sale yet. The scent does not flounder around with silly florals, but is not overpowering, either.
Fresh and green but softer than other "greens" such as Envy and Chanel 19. Fresh but not watery like a lot of the modern scents such as Issy Myake. Full-bodied and sophisticated. A real classic for the Spring and Summer.
I get the same feeling from this as I do Gucci Envy. Chic, well-put together, ready for anything, really great for work or a stressful event. Revvs you up, gives you energy, adds to your sense of style. However, it's very green and not warm. A beautiful scent, and I think it would be good for people with allergies to a lot of florals.
I believe the one I tried was the "new" Vent Vert. Worst perfume I ever smelled. And yet the great John Oakes considers Vent Vert to be his favorite of all fragrances. What gives?
After being haunted by Vent Vert since I had it as a teenager, I was delighted to find it again..However, it is not the same as the old. The old had much more of a woodsy, grassy scent, as well as a sharper citrus overtone. I also seem to remember a sleek silver metallic container. I surely would like to have the old fragrance back!
I'm sorry to say, but the "new' Vent Vert" dries down sourly on me. The original Vent Vert was a sublime green creation, smelling exactly like spring flowers and greenery, housed inside a chic, square-on-a-diagonal bottle with a thick black lid. The "new" Vent Vert, which is a green-colored juice inside a bottle with a green cap, is much sweeter, less green, and hasn't got half the beautiful sharpness of the original, and as I said at the top, dries down poorly on my skin. I wish Balmain would recreate the original.
This perfume does not smell "like an old lady" as Gail put it. It is fabulous. I first got introduced to it in Monte Carlo (you know the one in Europe) and it is a very classy fragrance--
love this perfume to bits
Sublime and Suductive
This fragrance is for the mature woman...one who can handle it. It's different and I like it....but can't wear it very often.
Green weedy flowers; spicy; similarities with Eau de Camille; stickiness; "Bain de Soleil".
This must be one of the most original scents I've smelt in a long while. It's strong to start of with and infact I didn't like it at first but the smell grows on you as it tapers off to a very fresh and green smell which reminds one of green meadows in early spring or after a fresh downpour of rain. And the best thing about it is that the smell of green fresh grass lasts and lasts with you till the end of the day.So you would continue to feel upbeat and energetic when all others around you feel haggard and tired.
SMELLS LIKE AN OLD LADY!!!!!!!!
