| I've sampled this old-fashioned horror and really really tried to find something to appreciate about it. But to me, it smells not only just like baby powder (gag me!) but it smells like a plastic container of baby powder that was set on fire and is still smoldering. Ordinarily I love vanilla, even the 'plasticky' note (sometimes, if not too strong), but what the heck is in here that smells so foul? I keep creeping back to the department store, spray, and run - and I still don't like it after multiple tries. Maybe I should stop trying, LOL! |

| My boot camp instructor in the Navy wore Shalimar and it was awful. I will always tie in memories of her with that perfume! |

| I will always have this love hate thing going on with Shalimar. I love it because it is the classic of all classics IMO and the beauty of the bottle, etc....I just can not wear it well because of the powdery dry down on my skin. I have been told it smells great on me though (by my mom and daughter so I am not sure that counts?!? LOL but I don't think they would be biased, since my mother does not care for Shalimar. She is an Opiumette all the way). Anyway, it is very pricey so if you are looking for a wonderful alternative (read: drug store) buy I would highly suggest Tojours Moi. It too, is an older scent (released 1921 by Dana) that I find very similar to Shalimar. It has sandalwood and vetiver, with a floral touch and musky undertones. I purchased some at Walmart off the shelf for only 12.00 last weekend. It has a ton of staying power and is not quite so powdery, although Shalimar shall remain unprecidented in legend along with Coco and Opium.

| I have it in the EDT, EDP, body lotion, and body cream. I just ordered the parfum and I can't wait. I get compliments from men when I wear this one. I love Shalimar and classic scents. This is one of my signatures and always will be. |
