Chanel No. 19 Perfume

| Henri Robert created Chanel No. 19 perfume especially for Coco Chanel, reflecting the qualities attributed to her by an admirer: witty, outspoken, supremely confident and intensely feminine. The perfume was released to the world in 1971, just before her death. The number 19 celebrates Coco's birthday on the 19th of August. (She was clearly a Leo!). Since its creation, Chanel No. 19 perfume has had a passionately loyal following. Wearers shouldn't be surprised if people ask them to reveal the name of their fragrance...Coco Chanel was once accosted by an American stranger who wanted to know the same thing. A wonderful tribute, she remarked, for a woman of her age (87!) and for Chanel No. 19 perfume. The scent begins with audacious floral and green notes (Neroli, Galbanum), followed by a meeting of May Roses and Irises from Florence. The finale: a chime of Chypre with a subtle, woody Vetiver note. |

| I have different fragrances to suit my different moods and seasons. Chanel No.19 is my ultimate grounding fragrance, when I'm feeling flighty and needing some extra centering of the soul, can go past No. 19. The crisp green floral wakes you up and then the fragrance settles to a beautiful elixir of woody warmth. Deeply grounding. |

| The story recounted below that Mlle Chanel wore #19 back in the '20s is a false one. Henri Robert was the perfumer who developed #19 for Mlle's personal use. He was not employed by Chanel in the 1920s. Ernest Beaux was the nez for Chanel at that time. The earliest Robert could have developed #19 was in the very late '60s. Mlle Chanel had a relatively short time to enjoy this fragrance before her death. |

| for the time being, at least. The EdP is no longer for sale in U.S. dept stores. Ditto for the pure parfum version. For globetrotters---the parfum is still available in Paris. For those in the U.S.--the EdT is still available in a minority of select dept stores. So, 19 is still in production, albeit not as easy to find as it once was. |

| I have to admit...I don't like this at all on the initial application. But as it dries, it is the most gorgeous scent ever! I am a big time perfume junkie and I am addicted to No. 19! I also love the fact that no one else I know wears it! |
