Blends of floral and citrus-based fragrances are recommended for casual and daywear. Spicy, woody or warm amber-based fragrances are traditionally favorites for evening and special occasions.

Really disappointed in this one, because I love Ivoire. Jolie Madame is really smelly, the spiciness and leather is really old man/old lady. It reminds me of the way my grandpa's big old car used to smell, like cigarettes and Old Spice. Also sort of reminded me a bit of Red Door (blech!). Definitely try before you buy on this one!

Sylvie: Interesting compairison between the "high class" Jolie Mme and the "drugstorefragrance" Creation. I also have both fragrances in my collection and will try them both in the near future. As I rememberd them there is a hint of violets (orris)in Jolie and that Jolie is more "green" than Creation which is more sweet, white flower. And I also remember a pineapple-note in Creation.

JOLIE MADAME PERFUME REVIEW BY SYLVIE
| A Balmain-must-have-fragrance for collectors and vintage-addicts!! Dry-down: Elegant, mossy, sweet-warm chypre and leather. - Here a description for JOLIE MADAME: "Year Introduced: 1953.
Scent Type: Chypre-Floral.
Top Notes: Gardenia, artemisia, bergamot, coriander, neroli.
Heart Notes: Jasmine, tuberose, rose, jonquil, orris.
Base Notes: Patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, musk, castoreum, leather, civet." - To my surprise: Jolie Madame shares some very similar notes with CREATION by Ted Lapidus. The dry-down smells nearly similar! Dear PE-ladies, if you love Jolie Madame, please give Creation a try!! Let me know if you can smell the similarity. Happy sniffing and greetings to all, Sylvie.

JOLIE MADAME PERFUME REVIEW BY MARA
After spending thousands on all the newest scents and never finding anything that really thrills me, I am going back to Jolie Madame, a fragrance that I wore years ago. It and Charles of the Ritz are two of the prettiest fragrances ever developed and both are real men attracters. The newer fragrances just don't have the depth of staying power of these two oldies. What a thrill to find others on this list who also appreciate the elegance of this fabulous fragrance.
