Have they discontinued the greatest Perfume in the world? It's the only one I have worn since it hit the market. And I am now paying a fortune on Amazon and anyplace else I can find it! What is up?

I am a bit concerned. It sounds as if #4 parfume will not be created anymore? I certainly hope not. I too have worn it for nearly twenty years.

Why has Jil Sanders 4 been so hard to find??

This has been my scent for years. Everytime I wear it, someone always comments on how good it smells. Hope they don't stop making it.

At first spray No. 4 is reminiscent of a man's cologne on my skin, and is probably why I don't reach for it as much as I should. The drydown is where this wins points for me. I love a good oriental, and No. 4 hits the mark with its seductive mix of woods, ambergris, vanilla and sandalwood in the background. Very sensual and subtle at the same time.

I've revisited my Jil Sander No. 4. This fragrance is so beautiful ... rich and soft at the same time ... I love it! Jil Sander No. 4 is more than worthy.

This one is a keeper and that's for sure. It's one of the greatest fragrances ever, I just can't get enough of No.4. Quite strong but that's ok,I love it anyway. And lasts,lasts,lasts.Outstanding drydown,sexual and bold.A masterpiece,no wonder J.Kennedy was mad about it.

Jil Sander No. 4 is very rich and full bodied. Even when it settles on my skin for several hours it is still very full and luxurious. Jil Sanders makes perfumes that last a long time on me. They dont fade, so applying once is always enough. She does wonderful perfumes.

Wore this to a very upscale function and was complimented all night by some high classed VIPS, they said it smell like money.

Smelled like an old lady from the late 80's @ 1st. But then it dried down and I fell in love. Very classic and ofcourse the staying power is on point. If you like Imari (AVON) or Elige (Mary Kay) you may like this one. Needs to be a constant on any vanity plate.

i have been told that this beautiful perfume has been discontinued. is that so? WHY? the new ones that are coming out are soooo uninspired and the good ones that are already in existence, thanks to the brilliance of past fragrance makers ,are being removed !! not a good sign in my opinion !

It's hard for me to rate this one, because it's a heady floral, and I really can't stand them. If you like heavy, tuberose-like perfumes, you'll probably love this, but it's just awful to me. Sorry. :(

Having been disappointed by an array of designer fragrance (Vera Wang, etc.), I wasn't expecting much when I sampled no. 4. But unlike some of the more "challenging" fine fragrances, most notably some of the classic vintage scents, this is gorgeous and accessible from the moment you apply it. The warm florals on a woody, slightly animalic base manage to be both sophisticated and voluptuous. Beautifully balanced and long lasting.

If you loved the British perfume Tweed by Lentheric in the 1960s, you will appreciate this decent imitation of Tweed.

this is a message to maya-- just because it didn't mix well with your own body chemistry doesn't mean that it's not a great scent for others for any scent you need to start with a freshly showered body and wear a scent for an entire day and see how it mixes with your own body ..... that's how you find a new perfume for each individual... sorry I JUST LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SCENT FOR MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

this is such an authentic fragrance in a world where gradually fragrances (new ones ) have started to smell all like eachother (you always wonder after the 1st spray "this smells like something else i have smelt before !"). this one is classy..... not one of the teeny bopper ones which the younger generation leaves behind a cloud of in their wake ! this one is private..... more for yourself....one that you become best friends with over time and with familiarity. a perfume that gets into your system! having gone through the posts on this one i see that almost everyone has a positive response to it......so, why has p e stopped at 4.5 stars for it ? it would make me happy to see it receive a 5 star review !!

Loved your post! I envy you, having a signature scent that you're so wild about! I could have saved myself a small fortune if I had a signature scent!!! This got me thinking, I have well over 125 fragrances, at approximately $40 per bottle, that comes to $5000.00! This does not include the "extras" I have stocked up on in my favorite scents, nor does this include all the matching body lotions and shower gels I have managed to acquire. I'm actually quite upset right now, thinking about this enormous investment I have made in smelling good!! Oh well, there are worse vices in life, right?

OH MY G-O-D I FOUND THIS SCENT IN A MAGGAZINE WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT, CAN'T CHANGE AND WON'T CHAGE EVERYONE KNOWS IT'S ME WHEN THEY SMELL IT.DON'T KNOW WHAT I'D DO WITHOUT IT I SPRAY IT FROM MORNING THREWOUT THE DAY EVEN AFTER A SHOWER AT NIGHT BEFORE BED. I WEAR IT FOR MYSELF CAUSE I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! USED TO DO DAYCARE FOR MY FAMILY AND THE BABIES USED TO GO HOME SMELLING AWESOME TOO. NEVER HAD SO MANY COMPLIMENTS ABOUT IT, NEVER A BAD ONE.DEFFINATELY MY SIGNITURE SCENT. I THINK I'M IN LOVE WITH IT LOL...A WHILE BACK WHERE I USED TO BUY IT AT A DISCOUNT PLACE TOLD ME IT WASN'T GOING TO BE MADE ANYMORE I TOTALLY PANICED. FOUND IT ON LINE FEW MONTHS AGO THE 3.4OZ FOR 39$ ALMOST FELL TO THE FLOOR I HAVE A STOCK OF IT TWO BIG BOTTLES AND 5 SMALL ONES. Used to wear this long ago, and somehow tired of it by the end of the bottle. Tried it again recently, and have rediscovered my love affair with it! This scent is truly elegant. There are certain scents that when you wear them, you feel like a movie star. This is one of those scents. Plus, it really lasts a long time, which is very rare these days. Jil Sander #4 is a beautiful oriental fragrance, and I would wear it day or night. Why not? Just because it reads "evening" who says you can't wear it by day. I've worn many perfumes in the daytime, that were "evening" scents, and gotten compliments galore.

Jil Sanders perfumes are great. Jil Nr. 4 is so beautiful on me. It is my favorite perfume. Very classy and sophisticated. If you are looking for something really special, not just an ordinary perfume like all the new stuff coming out, then try Jil Nr. 4 it is truly fine perfume and lasts long.

I discovered this fragrance a few years ago, and I fell in love! It is so distinctive. A truly charming, classic fragrance. It is so hard to find though! All of the great ones are!!! All of Jill's fragrances are exquisite!!

Jil Sander is an excellent perfume maker. Just love what she creates. No. 4 is very classy, beautiful and rich. No diluted, synthetic junk like many new perfumes. She produces classics. I feel like her perfumes have good ingredients and last a long time.

I have been wearing this fragrance since it was introduced in 1990 and not a day has gone by in all of that time that someone hasn't stopped me to say "you smell really good!" I hope it's NEVER discontinued (I even keep a back up stash, just in case). It's sensual, beautiful in all seasons and not overpowering. Love it.

My first husband choose this perfume for me 10 years ago. He went into a perfumery shop in Germany and described my personality to the lady who then recomended Jill Sander No.4. I fell in love with it then and 10 years on and with a new husband I still love it and feel great when i wear it.

Just found out how wonderful Jil Sander No. 4 is. It has a mellow, creamy base and is also somehow earthy or sensual. Find it elegant and great for cooler weather. It happens to be summer now, and I find it also fine for summer. Cant stop smelling my writsts. I had tried it once before, but did not remember it being so divine. This one is a winner in my opinion. Very classy and sensual. Sits close to the skin.

I wanted this to be as good as SUN, (also by Jil Sander), but sadly there is just no comparison as far as I'm concerned! Jil #4 starts off a bit like Beautiful by Estee Lauder and then it wonders off to a really weird direction... The moment I sprayed it on I knew it was a mistake, then it started to smell a bit better and on the way home from the store I thought to myself "Ok, well maybe..." but by the time I got home it had just turned funny smelling and I really did not like it. I asked my sister to tell me what she thought and she turned her head away... "NO"! I guess it's just not for us, but it's worth trying and seeing for yourself. I suppose on the right person this could transform into a very nice fragrance.

Could not find at my favorite Duty Free this year and was SO disappointed. I too have worn this scent for several years and always am told how wonderful I smell. Thanks for this website!

bless your heart! this is a beautiful fragrance. It makes me feel very glamorous. I've only worn it on dressy occasions in cool weather, Now I'll have to try it as aromatherapy.

Almost purchased this then realized on me it smells like Scherrer no 2 which I already own. I do have a mini of no 4 which I will wear anyway.

I have been wearing Jil Sander #4 since I was in highschool - almost 15 years ago and still get comments from people on how great I smell. I love the sophisticated notes in this perfume. A very classy prefume!

the perfume smells very strong in the bottle, but once you spray it on skin it smells great. I tend to use the perfume for evenings and the lotion for days/morning.

This really reminds me of Creed's Fantasia de Fleurs, developed in the 1800's. It is long lasting but probably one I won't wear often.

I was in San Francisco and smelled # 4 on a European woman standing in line for a cable car ride! I just had to know what scent she was wearing. As soon as I could I went out and bought some!

I just read Maya's description of this scent and I have to agree.This isn't a "let's paint the town red" kind of fragrance at all. It's very warm and soft at the same time,and where many oriental fragrances tend to have a "dry" note,this is quite lush and creamy,but not too sweet.I just got a small E.D.P spray on a whim at bloomingdales,and I'm pretty sure that I'll end up getting the whole line.A small squirt lasted easily from early evening to the next morning,and the scent left on my pillow is incredibly seductive. This perfume does not loudly scream its presence,it is understated,discreet,and quiet. But somehow it leaves its mark everywhere!I may very well have found my new signature scent!

...Is what I turn to when I feel stressed,aggressed,and otherwise unsettled.If I need to be treated gently and soothed after a bad day, only this fragrance will do,period. I think it's the light rose and violet combination,it has a very "gentling" effect,on me.The body cream is very thick and emollient,it will stay with you for 24 hours,no problem. The whole line is quite beautiful. For a while,they gave out #4 candles,as free gifts,and that can scent a whole house for hours, gently,softly,mmm.I can't wear it in the summer,Lola is right on the syrupy sticky angle,but these days, with my psycho schedule,harsh weather changes, growing kids , sick husband and,oh,that goddamn political crap all over the country, these days I find myself going back to #4 more and more often.IT's like curling up inside a huge down comforter during a blizzard,like a total body massage after a tough work out,it's even like a long hug after a good cry,it's a "time for me to feel good again" scent.They should pump it through the air vents in busy work places.

This fragrance does kind of sneak up on you, at first sniff it doesn't smell all that special, but wait a while, it is very lovely and special.

Very nice,in a sneaky sort of way... It's the kind of scent that you don't particularly pay attention to,until you realize you just can't stop from going back to it!It's very soft and gentle,but it lasts forever.

This is a classic. They say it was worn by Jackie O!! Also this fragrance can be worn all year around which is nice so you don't have to change fragrances with the season. I used one bottle of the spray and two bottles of body balm then got tired of it, but like I said, it is a classic fragrance.

Tropical flowers; sexy but clean like soap; warm and cool notes; fruit/powder. Nice but not a favorite.

I love Jil Sander, but I can't locate the After Shower Body Balm. If you get a chance, try it!

I have read that this was reputedly one of Jackie O's favorite scents. I can see someone like her wearing it. It is a very classy, yet very sexy scent that smells very strongly of elegance.

Wonderful fragrance if you aren't into heavy floral scents...more along the line of a woodsy, oriental scent...
