| I have only to close my eyes, think of my mother and recall the essence of both my mother and the fragrance that I was sure was hers alone, Narcisse Noir, which was her favorite fragrance for over 40 years. I don't know how she initially discovered this unique fragrance, except that she loved anything 'French,' excelling in the language, giving me a 'French' name, and the very 'French' fragrance of Caron. It must have been my father's favorite on her as well because he bought her a one ounce bottle of the 'real perfume' at least once a year for her birthday and sometimes for their anniversary. The bottle was so beautiful with the 'black narcissus' stopper. I wish she had saved all those empty flacons, but people weren't so interested in empty bottles back then. It was only what was inside that mattered. (Kind of like people). When my mother passed away two years ago, it was my task to go through her things and I found one empty half ounce bottle in the original black and white box in her lingerie drawer. All I had to do was remove the stopper and the fragrance that wafted to my nose brought so many memories of my loving parents back to me in that one moment. I never wore Narcisse Noir myself, because as I said, it was my mother's fragrance, but now that she is gone, and I found it still available through your company, it will become mine. Everyone, including Nordstrom's, told me it was discontinued, so you can't know how happy I was to discover it again. |
