TRY MAGNIFIQUE BY LANCOME. I LOVE IT! IT IS A FLORAL-ORIENTAL FRAGRANCE. I THINK YOU WILL LIKE IT. I LOVE BURBERRY BRIT RED, TOO. I HAVE IT AND BURBERRY, BRIT AND BRIT GOLD........LOVE THEM ALL!!

  • ~BOHEMIANGIRL~02/18/2008

This surely is a "Red" scent. Very hot and spicy. The rhubarb is an unusual top note and adds a nice tangy bite to the otherwise sweet scent. This spicy, gingerbread-y scent is perfect for the holidays. Be careful not to spray too much or it is overwhelming. My favorite of the Brit series thus far.

  • DEBBIE02/03/2008

i simply love how b.red smells on me got compliments on how good i smell when wearing it.

  • SYLVIE08/03/2007

Attention, dear PE-ladies. BRIT RED & BRIT GOLD are limited edition fragrances, so please stock up!!! I'm a real fan of this loud, bold and extreme Burberry fragrance BRIT RED. It's a wonderful, innovative scent to wear alone or to layer with a very spicy and "adult" oriental fragrance. If you are in the right mood and your classic oriental fragrance lacks a special and modern-fruity kick, layer FENDI/OPIUM/DALI/or BRIT Gold (for example) with a little spritz of BRIT RED. Such a special "concoction" smells irresistible and mysterious. Try it - you will love it. It's fun to "create" your own signature fragrance :-). But please don't spray on the same pulse-point. Use different places. For example one spritz RED on your neck and the other fragrance on different places you prefer. Good luck for this experiment and happy sniffing.

  • LOUISE07/05/2007

One of my favourites but i have to be in the mood, i always smell the rhubarb in this probably cos i loved it as a kid but this is a really pretty smell. In england you get mocked if you even dare wear Burberry clothes let alone fragrances but this one stands out and people always ask what it is. It suits me and i love it! Discovered it in Brugge and when i spray it im instantly back in Belgium. The scent holds some great memories, i would recommend to anyone who likes oriental type fragrances this is beautiful!

  • PADSTER06/21/2007

I bought this cautiously, hoping the descriptions of the scent on here were acccurate... and they are, and more! The scent starts out citrusy, fruity... then smooths out into red berries with a little pepper with vanilla underneath... then turns into a great mix of vanilla, amber, powder... It's more fruity than I normally wear, but the fruit blend is not sickly sweet or so citrusy as to give one a headache, so I love this. And I'm a redhead... just like the previous post recommends :)

  • LISAANDTHEWORD05/21/2007

Peppery at first, very nice a little later, warm & sweet but light. a little powdery, definitely "red" 2nd try smelled spicy oranges, warm & yummy. 3rd try, good sillage & lasting. has smokey undercurrent, cloved sweet oranges.

  • BARBARA W05/15/2007

Hi there, and thanks for the nice compliment! It would be really, really hard for me for pick an all time favorite but it might be Opium Fleur de Shanghai or Coco by Chanel. Some of my other favorites are: Trouble by Boucheron, Casmir by Chopard, Angel Innocent, Bvlgari au the Rouge, Just Me by Montana, Hanae Mori, Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker, Jungle L'elephant by Kenzo...I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of any more at the moment. What are some of your favorites? What fun to be in your early twenties and having fun with perfume! Enjoy. ;-)

  • TONY T04/16/2007

gourmand scents. i also love angel and fantasy which are equally edible though totally different scents.

  • CHELSEADSMOM03/31/2007

...try fresh's "lemon sugar"--it dries powdery, as do virtually ALL of jo malone's stuff. i love her "orange blossom" and i also like "grapefruit." all wear down to a powdery smell that i think rocks--and without you smelling like the fruit section of the grocery. as for the product we're reviewing, i like burberry brit red, but it's too heavy for me to ever invest in that kind of scent. heavy colognes give me a headache. the woman next to my office wears about 2 bottles of opium a day. i used to adore spicy perfumes until the day she walked into my life--now i'd really love to get my hands around her husband's neck (he gifts her w/opium no matter what the occasion). putting him (& myself) out of misery seems like a pretty good idea.

  • GREEKGIRL03/06/2007

to add Poeme-Lancome (just tried this one and it is georgeous.

  • GREEKGIRL02/22/2007

Hello Sahar, thanks for your kind words, now i really have to think about this one, i like so many frags that i really cant pick just one, but ill give you my top ten which is from each category of perfume that i like here goes: Angel, Jungle-Elephant, The One-D&G, Code-Armani, No.19-Chanel, Hypnotic Poison, Paloma Picasso, Nahema-Guerlain, and Madness-Chopard, there really is many more i love but if i had to pick ten these would be it, hope this helps and bye for now, Helen.

  • SAHAR02/13/2007

To any woman who knows what she`s talking about: What`s your most favourite available perfume that you never wanna be without, just one? I suppose each one has his own choice; I know it`s not easy to choose, but it would be so much interesting to listen to what you`re going to say. I`m 23, new to perfumes and so much enjoy reading your reviews Maya, Mary k, Barbara, Greekgirl, ... but I`ve never known your absolute favourite, nor you`re top 10 list. Anyway, I really look forward for your replies. Take care.

  • SUZETTE02/06/2007

Fantastic perfume My boyfriend chose this and we both love it!!

  • LEO12/10/2006

I own the men's Brit, and feel very strongly about Brit and Brit Red perfume also--Overall a very successful line.

  • ALEXY12/03/2006

Good overall, but when compared side by side with original Brit, original wins. Red has a more creamy floral sent mixed in. Something in it reminds me of Exclamation, which makes me sick now. I’m not saying Red smells like Exclamation, but there is an end note (end note is like aftertaste for smell? Not sure) that keeps taking me back to that horrible perfume. Anyways, its really subtle and probably won’t keep me from wearing it.

  • PINKI11/01/2006

Just had to buy this after wearing it for a day! Has the notes which I loved from Madness (Chopard) and Cinéma (YSL) without the old-lady leathery note from Madness, nor the sour-bitterness from Cinéma. Don't get me wrong, those are both fantastic scents, but Burberry is just (for me) the best of both, with a touch of creaminess to make it my fall favourite! Will be switching this one up with Addict for a yummy, warm winter aura! Not for everyone, on my friend it smells like kool-aid, but if it works for you, go for it! YUM!

  • AA10/19/2006

it's like powder, sugar, silk, pink and eveything which reminds you that u r a hot & beautiful woman.

  • FRAGRANCE JUNKIE06/23/2006

Ah, another Burberry winner in my opinion! It is delicious, without smelling too foody or fruity. I agree with the posts that say it does not last well. It definitely fades much quicker on me than Brit Gold. Unfortunately, I've come to expect a quick fade these days from my fragrances. Gone are the days of high quality and longevity. Still, I like Brit Red very much, and as Sylvie suggested in the Brit Gold message board, combining these two fragrances together creates a delectable combination! Brit Red on its own is quite lovely; I detect more of an oriental flavor rather than a fruity essence. Just Cavalli Her, Max Mara, Magnetism, Magnetic Beat and Miami Glow to name a few, are much more fruity in my opinion than Brit Red, so don't let the description of the notes sway you against Brit Red if you are not a big fan of fruity scents. This fragrance is more complex than the typical fruity fragrances out there. The addition of the spices, sandalwood, vanilla and patchouli balance out the top notes beautifully without overwhelming. This is a year-round scent in my opinion. Classy bottle too. Enjoy!

  • EDA05/13/2006

The smell of this perfume is nice and rich, even a bit too rich at first instance. When you put it on, it overwhelms you with its strong oriental smell. And I like that. But surprizingly, it won't last long. An hour after I spray it on, I can no longer smell it. Neither can others. So that upset me considering the outragous price tag on this perfume.

  • CASSIE04/26/2006

Greetings fellow P.E. posters. Today I sampled the new Burberry London(2006) which I must say is just gorgeous. Here is a brief description."An elegant floral fragrance.Fresh clementine(yum) and delicate english garden rose mingle with sparkling jasmin and feminine peony to reveal sensual accents of sandalwood and patchouli."It is packaged in the familiar check pattern. I detect soft rose( but not overly so) and creamy flowers, the drydown is just divine and staying power is quite good. Very feminine and long lasting.

  • *BARBARA W*04/21/2006

and found that I like the original Brit better. Red is too sweet and fruity for my taste, but as I said in my posting for the original Brit, Red might be nice on younger women in their 20s. The original is more sophisticated and more my taste, but try Red if you're looking for a young, playful scent. It's nice!

  • JULIE04/06/2006

I loved the bottle, and after reading the notes, thought it would rock. To me, upon application, it smelled like rotten fruit. (maybe the rhubarb?) I really wanted to like it, but tried it a few times...no likey!

  • SYLVIE02/22/2006

Dear Maya, I can highly recommend NAHEMA by GUERLAIN. Nahema is a wonderful warm-fruity rose fragrance with passion fruit and hyacinth. Very rare and very exquisite. A glamorous fragrance!! A real gem. DIVINE and ultra-feminine! I think Nahema is one of the best perfumes in the world!!! A breathtaking(!) + unique MASTERPIECE. I LOVE IT!!!! Please read my Nahema-review. - I like Sacré by Caron: Very spicy, strong headnotes and a sumptous drydown!! - Other rose scents are L'Heure Bleue by Guerlain. Beautiful, mysterious and blue... Or try Ombre Rose. A very romantic, powdery fragrance. The most orientals (BRIT RED!!) include roses. Paris by YSL is a sparkling, light, uncomplicated, and lovely rose fragrance. Nice for spring, summer and carefree days. Hope this helps. Happy sniffing, Sylvie.

  • MAYA02/09/2006

Thank you once again for your message and taking the time to investigate on a fragrance I asked about... Nu is one of those that not many love, although - somehow to me it evokes a sort of darkness that I will look for once in a while (orchid is nice but I wish it were a dark-rose instead)... Also, perhaps it smells on me slightly darker them on most people... when my sister tried it, it didn't have the same effect, so go figure ;) But, Sylvie here I go again... I have another question for you... one that you might be able to answer me without having to go on a search again! I am very interested in various Caron fragrances, but PARFUM SACRE in particular. Let me please tell you what I'm looking for... I am looking for a deep dark rose scent... plush and velvety - purple and darkly mysterious. I know I might be asking for too much, but most rose scents are too light for me... tea-rose like and to be honest I don't really like that... I'm looking for depth and seduction in my rose. Sylvie, I hope that you'll be able to come up with something to help me find that perfume and I figured that if it exists out there... well... you just might be the one to know of it too (at least I can hope) :) What are your thoughts on other Carons? I've only been able to try a few and I love them so far! Many many thanks, Maya

  • SYLVIE02/08/2006

Hi Maya, here I am back again! I can tell you: It was hard to find NU in Germany... I have the impression that they have already discontinued this new (2001) fragrance. (Poor Tom Ford! Long live Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent!!!)I tested NU now and sorry Maya, I don't like it. I always compare the new scents with the classic, old masterpieces (Porsche and MERCEDES). I like very strong and unmistakeable, unique fragrances. Warm, pleasant, inviting and ultra-feminine or sophisticated "green+clean" and refined (Scherrer 1). I get tired of testing all the new "stuff" like a bloodhound - really. I think I'm getting too old for all the new ones on the market... Paris Hilton, 5 fragrances from JLO, Britney Spears etc. etc. - who the hell... Here a Osmoz subscription for NU: "With Nu, Tom Ford perpetuates the history of the Saint Laurent House. The Nu Woman is an enigmatic seductress, full of mystery and very subtle. Discreet and sensuous, Nu is a modern yet timeless fragrance. Perfume description: Out of incense absolute rises an androgynous base, spellbinding and ardent. Woody and spicy scents add intensity and sensuousness. The middle note is a climaxes of feeling with a touch of freshness enhanced by wild orchid and sparkling bergamot." - I agree: Too discreet for me. No climaxes of feeling... I like breathtaking diva-fragrances ;-). Category: Love or hate. Nice to hear that you love LouLou by Cacharel. Greetings from Germany, Sylvie.

  • VIVIAN P02/06/2006

Had to smile after reading your message about smelling Dr. Pepper in the top note of this fragrance. That's exactly what I smell when I first spray Hypnotic...Dr. Pepper mixed with silly putty. Wonder why I love it so much!!???

  • MAYA02/01/2006

It's always SOOOO fabulous to hear from you! I always so enjoy your reviews! Thank you very much for writing to me and sharing your perspective on the new scents. I have to agree with you to a large extent that the staying power and complexity has receded along the lines in the new fragrances but as with cars they just don't make the news ones to last that long anymore. After all the manufacturers want us to have to buy again and again and again... you get the idea.... Remember when in the 80s Benz almost went out of business as a result of having made a car that was nearly "PERFECT"!!! It did not rust, there were no problems with the engine or the transmission or anything! in fact I still see some of those cars driven here and most of them still have original parts 20+ years later... but enough said about cars LOL I enjoy some of the new fragrances simply because they are fresh, some are spunky, others just exotic... I have to admit that I love Addict, somehow it manages to last on me and smells really sultry. I get compliments when I wear it and it feels good. I feel sexy, desirable and feminine... In the long run I guess that is really all that matters to me. And by the way thank you so much for turning me onto Lou Lou by Cacharel. I love it! What an amazing exotic fragrance. Thank you so much again and if you even want to contact me personally you can write to me at [email protected]

  • SYLVIE01/29/2006

Dear Maya, I will let you know that I didn't test NU by YSL yet. In the year 2002 Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent has retired and to my regret the house of YSL is not the same anymore. I'm not very interested in the modern, brandnew fragrances. There are too many(!) new scents on the market without style, class and quality. I tested for example Addict and Trouble (with high expectation!): Beautiful fragrances, no doubt - but no staying power. Very disappointing. In the last years I found max. 4 fragrances, outstanding and unique enough to wear or collect them. As soon as I have tested NU, I will post a little review. Happy sniffing, Sylvie.

  • MATUSHA01/12/2006

While preserving its eccentricity and its joy in life singularly British, Brit Red releases a sensual élegance expressed through its Eastern character and its intense red color. The symbolic system Brit bottle captures a greedy Eastern perfume. The pétillance of the green tangerine and the jasmine fresh mix with pleasure with the red pinks and heat with vanilla, revealing the sensual and elegant character of this perfume. Note head: Fresh Jasmine, Green Tangerine, Rhubarb Note heart: Red Rose, Gingerbread, Patchouli Basic note: Benzoin, Sandalwood, Vanilla

  • GUDRUN01/10/2006

I really like this parfume. Got for Christmas gift and will very much enjoy it. I wish it was not limited time only

  • ROBIN 01/06/2006

. . . you also might really warm up to Madness by Chopard. They're not note-for-note identical (how boring would THAT be?) but they share so many of the same rich, deep, warm, spicy attributes. Even the bottles are similar -- square-ish, ruby-red -- and you know that designers put a great deal of thought in how the packaging can best echo the juice. Just thought I'd mention it if you're looking to feed your fragrance addiction (not that you and I need encouragement!!!). Hope everyone is having a great year so far. :-D P.S. Still can't get Dr. Pepper out of my silly head every time I smell Brit Red's topnote!!!!

  • MAYA01/03/2006

I really love Burberry Brit Red and in fact, I also adore HP too. But, I really do not find them all that similar when you think of it... The vanilla is a lot different in HP, in fact the whole HP experience is spicy with licorice and very rich. On the other hand, Brit Red is a lot more mellow then HP in my opinion yet very complex just the same, and indeed does change dramatically from the opening notes to its exceedingly attractive drydown. I agree with the poster who says that the drydown of Brit Red is somewhat similar to NR. There is a very lovely base of musk, patchouli and vanilla that just stays with you for a while. Hope this helps, but if you can try it I think you will like it... Maya

  • BRUNETTE12/31/2005

I was almost put off by the first sprits of this perfume and then upon its rather very slow drydown I was totally enamored. This is such a multi-dimensional scent, really a terrific fragrance experience. I also would like to add that even though I see that most ppl here see it as a wonderful winter-holiday scent, this can really and I think easily be worn during fall, spring and even summer. Yes, it is slightly warm (which I like a lot), but not cloying or overpowering in any stretch of the word. This is a wonderful scent that in its end notes slightly reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez.

  • ALLUNA12/14/2005

A sultry and divine fragrance for the chic and assertive woman. This fragrance would have to be the most alluring and sexy fragrance to recently hit the shelves! I have been stopped in the street and asked what I am wearing! The strong seductive notes capture attention when it is first sprayed, and hours afterwards.

  • SUMIRE12/09/2005

I adore the smell of Dior's Hypnotic and I hear people saying that this one smells similar. Is that true? Does it have that warm vanilla smell? That's what I love most about hypnotic poison. Does this one have lasting power?

  • BRIA12/07/2005

Brit Red works perfectly for me! I'm new to Burberrys and I love this. Maya.. what about a summertime scent?

  • MAYA12/02/2005

Thank you for your post!- once again both informative and insightful!!! I love both Hypnotic Poison and Amor Amor... So Burberry Brit Red is a dream come true! The unfortunate thing is that for the past few months Hypnotic Poison has turned really naughty on me. I just find it too much of a good thing, but still just adore it on others, there was a lady in the elevator at work last week who was wearing it and it was a delight to be there and sniff it, on me however it's just too potent. I spray ever so little and still you can smell it two blocks away... perhaps it's just my wacky chemistry these days, but I will not give up on it just yet... On the other hand this Burberry Brit Red is a creamy, dream delight :) This winter I will enjoy it again and again. Sylvie I had left a question for you on one of the boards re: Nu by YSL... do you think that it's at all like Addict or Samsara... for some reason I find then quite similar in some ways... but still different enough to want to have them all ;) Many thanks, Maya

  • SYLVIE AGAIN...12/01/2005

say that Brit Red is for my nose a cross between Hypnotic Poison and Amor Amor by Chacharel. Very eccentric, bold and fruity! The sensual and warm spicy-oriental drydown is the very best of BRIT Red. But Hypnotic Poison is THE big star in my collection, ladies!

  • SYLVIE11/30/2005

Some women say it's similar to Hypnotic Poison. I don't think so. Hypnotic Poison has much more power and smells better. But I agree, BRIT RED smells very nice too!!! Top notes: Fruity & special!!!Drydown: Beautiful warm & cozy . I like RED better than Brit classic and Brit Gold. BRIT RED: For fruity-floral-oriental-lover a must try.

  • KELLY11/28/2005

If you like Burberry Brit Red I would also try "Summer" by Kenzo, which I don't believe is something everyone wears. It is a very light, summery or daytime scent that is floral but has a powdery finish that is extremely feminine but not like something your grandmother would wear. Hope this helps!

  • REBEKKAH11/25/2005

Hi! I am usually drawn to powdery scents also (if they are not too heady for me, ie: Tresor by Lancome) I am assuming you have smelled Weekend by Burberry, since it's been available for at least 8 years here in the U.S. Not to mention that we are already on a Burberry message board. Weekend is my favorite of the Burberry bunch. And that's saying saying a lot, since they're all fine fragrances. (Never smelled "Society" though, so I can't vouch for that one) I don't know if you've ever smelled BCBG girls Sexy; even though it has a spicy, warm edge to it, the tonka bean smoothes and plays some of it down, and, in my humble opinion, makes it smells powdery. Not in a white floral way, as in most classic powdery perfumes (ie: L'air de Temps), but very nice regardless. If you've already tried the ones I recommended, and had no luck, let me know here and I will wrack my brain for more ideas. Then maybe if I conjure up some more, I will get in touch w/ you via e-mail. Au revoir, Becka

  • NEVENA11/21/2005

Interesting and red-hot bold and cheeky scent. It was a long time I have not fallen in love with a new on the market perfume. Opens with a bitter hesperidic note, like pink grapefruit and that's the rhubarb- a note I have not yet encountered or, not been aware of, in fragrances. The first minute or so reminds me of "Roma" by Biagotti, although they are not similar overall. Very quickly dries down to a sweet very powdery scent, a bit like a powdery "Cinema" by YSL. I regret the rhubarb smell disappearing too quickly. Powdery scents suit me and many of my all-time faves are powdery- "Rumba" by Balenciaga, "Samsara" by Guerlain, "Rive gauche" by YSL (never liked it until I wore it over pear vanilla lotion in the Parisian summer heat), "Ivoire", "Miss Balmain" and "Vent vert" de Balmain. Powdery fragrances leave a very nice trail in summer and create a beautiful close to the body aura in winter. In fact, I wouldn't have liked "Vent vert" and "Flower le parfum" if they weren't powdery. "Brit red" has a great staying power and emits allure, a sexy allure that is. If You wear bold, sweet, powdery perfumes and like "Cristobal" by Balenciaga and "Cinéma" by YSL You'll probably love this one. As with all scents- try it first! I wear it almost every day because it's not very popular and well known here in Paris and from the few comments on this board I see it's not very popular anywhere.......yet. Very expensive in France compared to this website. I'll be grateful if somebody could suggest another interesting powdery and not so popular fragrance to me [email protected]

  • REBEKKAH11/19/2005

I tried this on my skin, instead of a card, & its like a different perfume. I was going to write it off as another cinnamon-laced scent, but it has alot more depth than I thought. I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist. It was definitely worth giving another chance. I love all the Burberrys, they are so much fun. Young & modern w/out being candy sweet. Can't wait to track down Brit Gold!!!

  • MAYA11/18/2005

As is pretty much evident I love Burberry scents, well pretty much all of them... but this one is really an amazing one! It's sultry and deeply feminine. Super sexy! I would have to say that it's my favorite Burberry right now! Perfect for this time of the year!
