  • LYDIA10/11/2018

Lovely scent. I’ve been wearing Samsara for years and always receive compliments. The scent is timeless.

  • JO-ANN01/02/2017

    The best perfume ever...

  • NADA DEMIR07/21/2014

    Product is perfect!

  • SARA MANDELL04/24/2014

I especially love the Perfume, ... beautiful aroma

  • SARA04/21/2011

I have worn only Samsara or Nahema for more than 40 years. My husband LOVES IT! Me too. My dear husband of blessed memory, always bought Samasar for my birthday, but not this year. He is in Heaven. I get comments from people all over. One collegue asked why my office smelled so good all the time. Was it incense? I told him, it's me who smells good. I wear Samsara! It's made for Sara...

  • CATHLYN03/08/2011

I just bought a bottle of Samsara from ebay for 15.00 free shipping. Can't wait to try it!

  • HILLANN02/01/2011

Hi I love this perfume but don't want to pay s/h prices does anyone know what store carry this Macys use to but they don't anymore ...

  • MICHAEL01/03/2011

i have a 3.4oz bottle of samsara it has been opened but my wife does not like it if you are interested in buying it from me please respond

  • ELVIRA12/27/2010

I HAVE BEEN USING SAMSARA PERFUME SINCE EARLY 1990, EVERY ONE LOVE THE SMELL, OF COURSE I NEVER SMELL IT, BUT I GET LOTS OF COMMENTS FROM MY BANK TELLER, DOCTOR, FRIENDS, PEOPLE ON THE STREET WHEN I PASS BY, I LOVE IT, THIS IS ALL I USE. I WILL NEVRE CHANGE MY PERFUME

  • DIANE11/05/2010

My husband LOVES Samsara, Beautiful is his second choice for me...I agree.

  • BARBARA W06/20/2009

Thanks for the response. I do know the difference between EDT vs EDP, I was just wondering if they smell different with Samsara. Some houses actually use a different formulation for the EDP, while others use the same formulation with the only differece being the strength/lasting power. I've come across fragrances that smell very different in the EDP and EDT concentrations. Opium is a good example. Again, thanks for the response, but I'm still waiting for an answer to my original question. :)

  • ORCHIDFLWER03/03/2009

If you enjoy smelling like the inside of an old catholic church....You might like this, or if you just enjoy incense. Its too much for me.

  • ME02/14/2009

This is my winter HG frag. I just love it since it lasts but does not shout on me. I wear Shalimar once it warms up that is my warm weather H.G. Samsara is a fabulous warm floral sandalwood type of fragrance - not too sweet!

  • SAMSARA31310/13/2008

EDP is perfume (Or rather eau de parfum) and contains more pure perfume oils then EDT which is Eau de Toliette. There is a difference in how each smells, EDT will not last as long, either. There is also a full perfume oil available at certain Neiman Marcus stores (san Fran is one of them). It's heavenly! VERY expensive and worth every penny. I've worn Samsara since 1989 (the year it was released) and although I might wear other fragrances from time to time I am *never* without Samsara (Even my email address is samsara313...my scent and my 2 lucky numbers). I've had people ask me to write the name of the fragrance down after following me around stores for 10-15 minutes!! On a knowledge note: If you'd like to learn more about fragrances go to osmoz.con. THis is NOT a place to buy perfume...it's strictly a place to learn ALL there is to know about fragrances for both men and women.

  • EARL GUILLEMET09/17/2008

the smell soft my wife love if i could can send some sample other soft perfum wen she get it on i love all over her i can not get out the house much thank you earl

  • BARBARA W08/14/2008

Can someone tell me the difference between the EDP and EDT of Samsara? Do they actually smell a bit different, or is the EDT just a milder version? Thanks for any help.

  • VERONICA07/19/2008

I was introduced to Samsara in 1993 and it has been my signature fragrance ever since then. My sisters (I have 7) have all remarked at how wonderful it smells on me and some have tried it on themselves, but said it wasn't for them. This perfume definitely fits my personality!!!

  • JOANNE06/28/2008

I find that the body lotion has a lighter sent which is nice for daytime use. Love this product.....

  • CATHY05/08/2008

Is Maya having a laugh? I agree with what one reviewer writing about Champs Elysees by Guerlain said about Maya ... enough already about how "irresistible" you are! I think Maya's in a world of her own and seems to think all men are drooling over her and pursuing her because of how fantastic she thinks she smells, and that women despise her because of that! No, maybe they despise her because she's, as we say in England, "up her own ass" .. i.e. arrogant and self-important!

  • DAWN05/05/2008

A friend gave me a gift of obsession and in it was a sample of Samsara which I loved. I am very fussy about perfume and this is wonderful and the only problem is I can't find it in my state anymore and have to order it online.

  • !!_!!12/25/2007

This is my favorite female fragrance... it brings me so good memories and so wonderful sensations! If I was a woman I'll certain wear this fragrance along with Classique. The ad of Samsara is perfect, it fits so well with the fragrance proposal... take a look at Youtube.

  • KRISTEL11/29/2007

I LOVE IT!!! I have been wearing it since 1998. EVERYONE compliments me on it each and every time that I wear it! The only bad thing is that I cannot even smell it anymore when I am wearing it but I can if someone else has it on.

  • LINN11/03/2007

This has been my signature sent for about 7 years. I tried this a few years after my signature scent from Victoria Secret (Encounter)was discontinued. Once I started receiving all of the compliments like I did with the VS perfume, I decided it was right for me. I'm addicted, what can I say!

  • VIKKI10/09/2007

I thought at first this was a pleasant frangrance, my second thought was this fragrance has a distinct smell of plastic, in a non-descript way. It's not bad it's just not good.

  • ANGIE08/05/2007

C'mon girl, you couldn't just say you don't like the scent, and leave it at that? I have never smelled a scent that smelled like your descriptions. I don't particularly like Samsara, but it certainly doesn't smell like "Poo" or "butt", I think we're all past our childhood by now. Gimme a break!!!

  • JENNYPRETTY06/22/2007

One of my top 5. This scent literally melts into my skin and I radiate warmth and sensuality. Cozy yet sightly daring, a smoldering scent.

  • CALCON05/12/2007

I had always used Samsara EDP, with the only negative being the strong sillage. I recently splurged on the parfum to replace my EDP. It is surely one of the most divine fragrances out there. The main difference between the two concentrations is that the parfum stays close to the skin, and doesn't 'shout' as much as the EDP. It is well-rounded, enveloping and unique. I highly recommend Samsara if you are looking for a sandalwood-based perfume with a myriad of complementary notes. It will always be in my collection.

  • STACEY03/30/2007

I have been hearing a lot about this samsara. so while shopping at Ulta, I reserved one wrist to test it on. I was expecting a heavy, spicy fragrance. It ended up not even smelling like a fragrance. It smelled like butt. I am not trying to be rude, my mom and I both just thought it was horrible. I just dont get these guerlain fragrances. shalimar smells bad too. and these are supposed to be legendary.

  • ALLYSA03/25/2007

I tried samsara on guerlain counter. I just sprayed it once to my hand. I'm quite surprise with it because I think the EDT has higher standard than other brand. It's fragarnce concetration (EDT) almost the same as other fragrance EDP even higher. But careful with it don't spray it too much or you will get bored with it.

  • MARY ALICE03/21/2007

I have other vanilla/jasmine/amber combinations that some of you may want to try. I love Sublime by Patou even though on me it is much "spicier" than Samsara. Armani Code combines vanilla and jasmine and is beautiful and not as sweet to me as Samsara. Dior Addict is gorgeous, long-lasting and has an initial punch that softens into a comforting aura of fragrance. I especially love Boucheron which also has the jasmine, vanilla and amber notes and, on my skin, changes very little as it dries down. I know that most of you already know about these fragrances, but hope that this comparison is helpful to other newbies like myself.

  • MARY ALICE03/21/2007

I ordered this without sniffing because I couldn't find it in the stores. I am so happy I got it. This fragrance combines beautifully with my body chemistry. It is sweeter to me than Shalimar and lacks the sharp opening notes that Shalimar has on my skin. I don't detect the citrus notes but do catch the peach and jasmine as the fragrance opens. The cedar adds warmth and depth without smokiness. What remains on my skin when it dries down is the wonderful jasmine combined with the sweetness of the vanilla and amber. Yum. This is soft but substantial on me. The lasting power is good too. I will be getting the body products to accompany my beautiful Samsara.

  • MARY ALICE03/17/2007

This sounds like a wonderful fragrancefor me because I love vanilla and jasmine. But the cedar note worries me and there is no way I can 'try before I buy'. (We only have one department store here and they don't carry Samsara.)Does the cedar make the scent smell smokey as in cigarette smokey? I got that effect with Knowing and it almost triggered a relapse!!

  • GREEKGIRL03/08/2007

I you like Samsara you will probably like Davidoffs "Good Life" they smell very similar but Good Life has a honey note, staying power isnt great so it would be a good alternative to Samsara for summer. I love both for their differences.

  • SARA11/30/2006

Everyone compliments me when I wear Samsara. My husband LOVES it! The only other perfum I will wear besides Samsara is Nehama, which I also love, but was off the market for a long time.

  • ANNIE10/10/2006

I wore Samsara body cream some years back. Then it started making me feel queasy, it's just too much, too powerful, too cloying, and too likely to be over applied (which some other ladies who also wore it always did). Could be very nice, though, if used very sparingly. Not for me.

  • SEXY KITTEN10/02/2006

OOOOHHHHH..ooooooooh, Mmmm....sex in a bottle best suited to dark haired classy, feminine ladies who aren't afraid to show off their assets...this is the greatest perfume ever if you love sexy, sweet (but not too sweet) and musky vanilla wood scents....this is in my top 3 along with angel and champs elysee....purrrrrr

  • BERITANETTE10/02/2006

It's to heavy for me. Makes me feel uncomfortable and tired. A nice scent for winther if you can wear it

  • KATHY09/29/2006

How I long for the old days when I could purchase a perfume that really thrilled me. Don't know if any one remembers the old Avon days, 70's scents. I still can smell Moonwind and Sonnet and oh, Hana Gasa. Oh I loved them so! Haven't found anything close in all these years.(sigh) Just remembered Brocade.

  • RUTH09/16/2006

I've worn this one in the past and just bought some after about 15 years. I am so anxious to wear it but I think when it gets a little cooler outside would be best or at night. I'll definetly post all the results of wearing this fantastic fragrance.

  • AIMEE09/08/2006

Samsara was at one time my signature scent--until I tired of it and had to let it go. Well, I am back with Samsara. I've worn it this week and wow! Once again, I get compliments galore. A man trailed me in the parking garage to ask me what fragrance I was wearing. I sat next to a man in the theatre who insisted I write down the name of it for him. And a third man complimented me in the airport as he stood behind me in line! All in one week! I'd say it's a keeper! My husband likes it too. I don't know why I strayed.

  • CK08/30/2006

Wonderful fragrance. Oriental-ish. To me a seductive scent that last. I never purchased the edp.. All these years I only have the Ritual body lotion and the body oil. They are just as wonderful as if I had spray. You will be noticed with this! It last and last, if you chemistry if right.

  • TARA08/22/2006

I am wearing a sample of Samsara I received and am very impressed. It has spicey notes and smooth notes with a wonderful full effect. The end notes are great. It has been developing on my wrist for 4 hours now and it is lasting great. Think I will buy this. Of course it is a well know and loved classic, but I am only now discovering it.

  • LALAGE08/11/2006

I first bought Samsara EDT after smelling a sample on a card - I was attracted to the sweet, spicy, sexy scent! But once I put it on I was disappointed to find it fading on my skin very fast. I used up my bottle in double quick time as I was spraying it so often. Second time around I bought the EDP but the results were no better! I do like Samsara but for some strange reason it has zero staying power on me, so I won't be buying it again.

  • ANGELIQUE07/30/2006

Sorry to be a party pooper - I really don't like this scent. Someone once gave me a bottle of this, and although I'd wear it occasionally I just couldn't warm to it.

  • HARLEY-MAMA07/11/2006

This smells really good. To me it kinda smells like "Rapture" by Victoria Secret and also a little of the original formula of "Guess" perfume. Does anyone else get that? Great lasting power!

  • JAN07/06/2006

Beth, I don't know where you live, but if in the USA....you can buy Samsara at any of the better department stores. It's not that hard to find here. Enjoy!

  • KATHY Z.07/05/2006

Samsara if one of the perfumes that calls my name from my dressing table. Very rich floral blend. I don't think the woody notes dominate at all. I would have to classify it as a heavier floral. I don't often buy a fragrance more than once. I get bored with a scent before the bottle is even finished. But I can't imagine being without Samsara.

  • BETH07/05/2006

Does anyone know if it's possible to get this perfume shipped form Paris to Australia? I've been a Samsara fan for ages now but came across this one last year while in Paris and was told I could only buy it there. Recently my bottle fell over and I lost a good third of it :( Need to know if I can get it here or if I need to plan another trip to France (wishful thinking).

  • RAJUL07/04/2006

like most people who post on p emporium i am perfume crazy too (have over 50 fragrances all in 100ml bottles), but, i've been feeling lately that the classy way of going about it is to choose a favoured 1 and then use up the whole bottle so you really have this passionate affair with the particular fragrance and it also shows you ALL its colours (you experience it completely and as the days go by you discover it better since your body has no traces of any other fragrance on it for days......) ! too bad that i feel this way AFTER having collected over 50, huh ? as for samsara...... i think it is a beautiful perfume. i use it in the edp strength.

  • K.06/18/2006

Maya- your comments on Samsara were excellent! This has been my signature scent for over 15 years. Men especially love it.

  • GREEKGIRL06/12/2006

I love Samsara and have never been told that i smell like an old lady, in fact this always brings in compliments usually from younger men, and hubby adores it too!

  • CLT05/16/2006

I just went to smell this on my lunch break just for old times' sake. I still love it just as I did when it first came out. I was 25 then and NOBODY told me I smelled like an old lady - the men swarmed like bees! I love the ylang ylang and vanilla dry-down.

  • FRAGRANCE JUNKIE05/09/2006

Thank you for the additional information on Bandit. Chypres are tricky for me. Some I love, some make me gag! Oh well, guess the same can be said about ALL types of scents, whether floral, oriental or whatever! Thank you for getting back to me! XOXO

  • LUSI05/04/2006

Definelly one of my favorite perfumes, ever ! Oriental, misterious, sexy and classy.

  • JAN04/25/2006

Yes, Bandit is very Chypre. It's ad says, it is not for every woman, but for that certain woman. (teehee) I guess I qualify. I love it. I tend to favor the Chypre as I find them long lasting. I love cool weather and rainy days. Bandit is at its best at that time. I also love Champs Alysees by Guerlain. I enjoy your writings.

  • FRAGRANCE JUNKIE04/23/2006

Hello Jan! Thank you for your kind comments. I have not tried Bandit; I will have to check it out in the future and get back to you. I'll post to that site if I get the chance to sample it. I just read many of the comments there and it sounds very interesting. How would you describe Bandit? Is it a chypre? Because I usually don't care too much for those on me; it just depends on the mix. Let me know when you get the chance. Leave me a post here if you can. Thank you!

  • BILLYE T04/22/2006

A while back I was feeling insecure about several fragrances I own(example: Boucheron) because there were posts "smells like an old lady". What does an "old lady" smell like? Medicinal ointments? Denture toothpaste? My neighbor, a lovely, refined French lady (from France) is in her 70s and you would think she is only in her 50s. She dresses and carries herself with style, class, poise and confidence that is obvious she was born with. She wears Samsara and Shalimar, to name a few, and another wonderful fragrance that when I ask her what it is she just smiles mischievously with a twinkle in her eye and tells me French women do not reveal the names of their lovers or their perfumes. If she supposedly smells "like an old lady" when she wears Samsara (or Shalimar) then I can only hope to elevate my scents to that level. I agree, fashions will always change but class and style will always remain the same. On me it is such a nice, sexy fragrance - very smooth, classic and refined. A slightly sweet, slightly musky fragrance..I would call it a floriental. In my opinion, Guerlain is a perfume genius. He doesn't make fragrances for the gum chewing, bubble blowing teeny bopper. He makes them for women. If the fragrance doesn't work for you I hope you find something that makes you feel the way a Guerlain woman feels wearing his creations. And, NEVER let anyone intimidate you on your choice of fragrances. When you become "one of the herd" you can easily lose you individuality. Perfume is very individual...why would I want to smell like everyone else? I am happy being me and smelling like me and I happen to think I smell wonderful!!!

  • CHINA DOLL04/16/2006

I really wanted to love Samsara but it's soooo sickenly heady and soooo strong can be detected from a mile away (seriously). Definately not sexy. Just in your face in a VERY bad way. Makes me shudder just thinking about it. Strange that when I smell it out in public, I look around, only to see some old lady walking past. By the way, I love heavy, spicy, woody fragrances (ie. Opium, Le Baiser Du Dragon, Nu, Black Cashmere, Organza Indecence, Theorema) but Samsara... no thank you! I can do without the headache! PS. If you like Samsara, you might like Python by Trussardi (it's softer and much more wearable).

  • ROSARIA04/15/2006

Hello Fragance Junkie! If it's not a problem sending me a sample, my e.mail is [email protected]. Get in contact and I will give you my address. My Shalimar has arrived and I loved it although I think Samsara lasts more. Both scents are great. Maybe I'll like Mitsouko. I like different scents. Montana is one of them. Greetings from Brazil!

  • JAN04/15/2006

Have you tried Bandit? Very different from Samsara, but I like the way you discribe things and just wondered if you have tried Bandit by Robert Piguet. Thanks. Samsara is good...but I prefer the Bandit typed.

  • FRAGRANCE JUNKIE04/12/2006

Greetings from Pennsylvania, USA! Thank you for your post, and by the way, your English is excellent! Like you, I adore the thought of ancient, classic perfumes. You are right, ancient is a good word. The way so many products come into and out of the market these days, it makes the oldies even more desirable in my opinion. Of the fragrances you listed in your 4/8/06 post, I have only tried Nahema. What a gem that one is. I love it, even though I'm not a floral person, because it migrates out of the pure floral category with it's other notes (see my post dated 4//5/06). You have intrigued me with the scents you mentioned in your post. I will certainly research these and let you know. By the way, I truly don't mind sending along a little sample in an envelope. Mitsouko is SO different, you really might not like it! It's VERY heavy on the mossy/woody notes. Of course, being the classic it is, you just might want it anyway! Let me know!

  • JAN04/11/2006

I took a shower last night and put Mitsouko on very lightly. As it dried down, it got so bad that I actually had to get out of bed and wash it off. It was just horrible...on me. Samsara is nice, but Guerlain's best to me and on me is Champs Elysees. Not too sweet, and it lasts and lasts. I have NEVER had so many compliments as when I wear CE. Hard to find, but a real gem when you do.

  • ROSARIA04/08/2006

Hi there! I bought a Shalimar, but the order hasn't arrived yet. I just can't wait to try it! As for Mitsouko, it was very kind of you, but don't bother about sending me a sample, maybe it will be costy for you! I'm in Brazil. Where are you from? ...Probably I will buy a Mitsouko bottle in the future?...I love the idea of having "antient" perfumes (Can I say like that? Sorry about my English!) . For this reason I'm interested in Mitsouko and in other Guerlain classicals. Have you tried Vol de Nuit, Nahema and Jicky? Jicky has been produced since 1889! Wow...! If you have any comments about them, let me know? By the way, I've read your comments about many other perfumes, some of them I have and it seems your taste is similar to mine. But I have't seen any of your comments about Theorema (Fendi), have you tried it? It's wonderful! Try it! Many thanks! Get in contact!

  • JULIE04/03/2006

I bought this because at first, I thought I liked it. When I got it home & tried it again, nah! Gave it to my Mom, she likes it & uses it. I don't know why I don't like it, just don't.

  • MELANIA03/30/2006

This fragrance is like a GENIE IN A BOTTLE! It really is sexy and lingers and lingers on for hours. Don't you just love that? I love that when I spray some in the morning I can still smell it on me on the way home from work. I don't mind reapplying but then it can become too strong and the last thing you want is to make people at the office gag and complain and you know they will. So Samsara is not only sexy and exotic but is also safe! I wear EDT strength and love the compliments that gets me :)

  • ROWENA 03/24/2006

SAMSARA IS ONE OF THOSE FRAGRANCES YOU NEVER FORGET, POPULAR WITH MANY WOMAN AS ITS ONE THAT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE A WOMAN ITS FRAGRANCE LINGERS WHICH IF YOU WEAR A LINGERING FRAGRANCE YOU LIKE TO KNOW ITS PLESANT TO THOSE AROUND YOU THE BOTTLE IS ORIENTAL AND THE FRAGRANCE IS SOFT AND VERY SENSUAL.

  • FRAGRANCE JUNKIE03/20/2006

Hi there! Hope you tried Shalimar and loved it. I know I do. It's stronger than Samsara, but equally intoxicating. I wore Shalimar to an evening church group, and the man sitting next to me leaned over and said, "Are you trying to turn me on? You smell incredible." That is what he said! Okay! So it's VERY SEXY! As for Mitsouko, that one is SO different, and heavy on the mossy/woody top notes, that I'm having a hard time getting used to it. But interestingly enough, the dry-down is much more tolerable for me, so the longer I wear it the more I enjoy it! I tried it because it is an oldie and I figured it must also be a goodie! Let me know if you want to try Mitsouko. I can mail you a little homemade sample. Just leave me a message here. I'll check back periodically.

  • GRACE02/21/2006

Something within the first five minutes of spraying this on my skin makes me recoil, but the drydown makes it all worth it. Beautiful sandalwood scent on me; if you like Chanel Bois des Iles, although this is not *quite* as spectacular, then give Samsara a try.

  • MAYA02/16/2006

I think that maybe you'll also like Champs Elysees... It has a very good lasting power and it's just a beatiful scent... Best of luck...

  • ROSÁRIA02/09/2006

It was very kind of you to answer my message. I will probably buy a Shalimar and forget about Mitsouko. Many thanks!

  • FAIRLIND02/06/2006

I find Shalimar long-lasting, but a little too heavy for my taste. Mitsuoko is lovely, but disappears within an hour. I chose not to wear either one.

  • ROSÁRIA02/06/2006

I love Samsara. The fabulous scent lasts on you for hours! I'd like to buy other Guerlain perfumes.I wonder if the others have the same lasting power as Samsara does. Is Shalimar long lasting? What about Mitsouko? Any suggestions?

  • MATUSHA01/12/2006

Harmonious, wrapping, envoûtant, it leaves a remarkable wake. It is the new very sensual version of the seduction, for a distinguished woman, radiant and generous, who found balance and harmony. Note head: ylang-ylang Note heart: jasmine Basic note: sandal, broad bean tonka, Iris

  • KITRA01/10/2006

Samsara is wonderful. I have never worn it that I did not receive a compliment or two or have people ask what I was wearing. I love the way it smell in the bottle but the sweetness that comes of my skin and the slight insencey smell drive men wild with lust.

  • BETH01/09/2006

I've fallen in love with perfume over the last few years and have stuck with Guerlain for the last two years after buying a sample pack. Shalimar smells gorgeous but not on me. I love Champ Elysees for hot days but Samsara is my all time favourite and I have been looking for some new ones to try but nothing has compared with Samsara. I was lucky enough to spend a weekend in Paris recently and made sure I had the time to go to Guerlain on Champ Elysees. I now have a new perfume (Rose Barbare) that I know not many will come across as it's a new fragrance and can only be bought from here and is quite expensive (knew I was going to spoil myself though). Thankyou to the staff for their help finding something that suited me so well. I would never have tried this myself as I don't usually go for anything too floral. I can't see this replacing Samsara for long/ for ever though I will enjoy this addition to my collection.

  • STELLA01/03/2006

Full of class and radiance! Uber-femenine scent and my favorit of all times. I can wear this anytime and anywhere and always get good response from people around me. This is a good thing. And I've never been told that this is too much or overpowering. High quality fragrance, even the EDT lasts a long time. And, oh I love the body lotion it's like silk on the skin. I know this is an older scent and that girls today prefer more frutier and chocolatey scents but this is a classy one that will never go out of style. Smelling good will never go out of style either I hope. By the way I'm in my late 20s just for the record.

  • SABS12/12/2005

I always used to bypass this guerlain--it always smelled too "spicy" but my mistake was smelling it in summer! I've been on a sandalwood kick lately so I gave Samsara, and the crisp winter suits it perfectly; soft as a rich cashemere wrap. It goes on strong, but the drydown is my favorite part--all that sandalwood with soft iris and vanilla, but is blended so well there is just a warm powderiness. Now I see why so women like this! (ps-very strong-just use a spritz.

  • MAYA11/05/2005

Samsara has and always will be a true masterpiece! The composition of this fragrance is so harmoniously blended together, so unmistakably rich, so incredibly timeless! One of the previous posters sadly says, and I quote, "Styles and clothes have changed, and there is not much room for dusty smelling scents". This really makes me laugh! "Styles and clothes have changed"!!! Styles and clothing are continuously recycling... Designers are constantly pulling ideas from the past and recycling them into "new trends" and "new styles". Are we now going to say that Pablo Picasso's paintings are no longer of any quality just because they are not painted yesterday! Is Pablo Neruda's poetry any less rich and passionate because he wrote it over 30 years ago? What about Mozart? Modigliani? Hyden? Kahlo? This is art! Perfume is art! It's passion! Love! Samsara is art! Samsara like its name suggests is ongoing! It's deeply mysterious! It's sensual! It's intoxicating! It's magnetic! It's euphoric! My experience with Samsara has been ongoing indeed. I wore it for a few years and then gave it a rest... then I went back to it and so on. I will always love and wear it! And it always gets the same attention from both males and females... Samsara never fails to creates a very passion-charged ambiance. It lingers and grows more alluring with every moment. "It's smolderingly, volcanic & shockingly shameless!!" Mystical and captivating. And believe me both younger and older audiences love this scent. I work at a university and Samsara gets equal attention from all!!! Like I said a timeless classic! Of course Samsara is not for everyone... I would say that Samsara is made for the strong, bold, and self-confident women who know their powers and revel in their femininity! Women who know that their beauty and intelligence are both weapons of choice. Of course, you probably will not enjoy this scent if you don't care much for Oriental, spicy or woody, warm scent but to each her own ;) Enjoy!

  • VICTORIA11/04/2005

I first smelled it when i was seventeen and it was love at first whiff. Granted, perhaps at that age it seems a little too mature for most people but I had expensive taste since i was a baby(heh-heh). Its wondeful perfume, rich, somewhat sweet(but not too sweet), with powdery drydown. I use the pure perfume, it the best. Don't use the ear de toilette-it doesn't smell the same(yes, its cheaper but scent its not the same so for me its not worth it). I'd strongly suggest buying it online-way cheaper than getting it at department stores! By the way, Tuscany per Donna does smell like a cheaper, more cloying version of Samsara. Smell for yourself. P.S. Always get compliments from both men and Women!

  • JACQUELINE11/03/2005

This has been my signature scent for about 10 years. It can be strong so I apply judiciously. I have never received so many compliments with any other fragrance....and my husband loves it!

  • JAN09/27/2005

Ah, sweet mystery of life, at last I've found you. I have looked for a long time for a good Oriental fragrance. This is it. I love Champs Elyeese for daytime. Also, Fracas is outstanding if you want something unlike everyone else. These three make a great wardrobe. But stay away from Poison.

  • JAN09/21/2005

I can't understand when some women find a perfume they love, they complain that it is not readily available. That is a good thing. Do you want to go around smelling like many other people? I don't. I love perfumes that are not so well known. Makes one stand out from among everyone else. This perfume is gorgeous.

  • JAN09/20/2005

Am I mistaken but......does Tuscany per Donna smess like Samsara.....and does Obsession smell like Must? I do a lot of smelling and I think this is true. Any comments? I prefer Samsara to all the above.

  • JAN09/20/2005

I have been looking for an oriental winter scent, and this is it. Beautiful. Warm and woody like a nice winter day.

  • ALLISON R.09/12/2005

This scent is hard to wear. Styles and clothes have changed, and there is not much room for dusty smelling scents. Plus everyone knows what this smells like , so there is nothing unique about it.

  • LORI09/03/2005

i bought some a long time ago, but had to give it away as it was much too strong and gave me a headache. cannot stand to smell it now!

  • ANNA06/19/2005

This would be a beautiful scent were it not for the terrible headache I got immediately upon putting it on! I was so disappointed, as I love the carnation note in this fragrance. Wish I could identify what the problem was.

  • AIMEE05/25/2005

I have tremendous appreciation for this fragrance. Its composition is exquisite. It was my signature scent for years and never before has a fragrance spawned so many compliments for me. Nonetheless I tired of it after about 8 years and moved on. Perhaps I suffer from olfactory fatigue where this scent is concerned. I can always go back!

  • *BARBARA W*05/23/2005

This perfume has some wonderful notes in it, but the dry down was too powdery on my skin. But, then again, it does say it's a "powdery" scent...so for those who like that, Samsara would be heaven.

  • CLAUDIA T.05/21/2005

It is weird. I always find myself being lured back to buy this perfume again. My first bottle was bought about 10 years ago but I was too young to enjoy the scent so I gave it to my mother. And soon it became her favorite and my younger sister, surprisingly, fell in love with it, too?. However, even though it was too heavy for me, I found it smells fabulous on my mother. As times goes by, I gradually find myself missing it especially in the winter so I have started to spray it in recent years. Gladly, I can enjoy the intense and powerful scent now as my mother and my sister. Two days ago, I bought myself a bottle again. Now every woman in my family own one of this and I have actually completed my Samsara line: Samsara, Un Air de Samsara, Samsara Shine. I don’t know why but there must be something inside very attractive that is no way to resist for me.

  • M05/16/2005

Samsara is absolutly wonderful! Warm, spicy, woody, soft it´s like wearing a cashmir sweater and wrap one self in a pashmina a raw and chilly winterday. Even in the summer I can start longing for it but than I wear the lighter version "Un air Samsara". Sad that they have discontinued the summer version.

  • FRAGRANCE JUNKIE05/03/2005

This heady scent is not for the timid.. It's not that it is too strong, but it is powerful. What a fabulous scent Samsara is. Great for fall/winter. Actually, I love most Guerlain fragrances, so maybe I'm biased! The discontinued Un Air de Samsara is even better! Softer, different, but still reminiscent of the original. The only negative to Samsara is the one-piece spin and spray cap which can break if you turn it the wrong way too many times. Be careful.

  • HAPPY04/20/2005

Bought some for my wife. Reminds me of Tuscany Per Donna by Estee Lauder when it first goes on. Smells great, makes me feel like......well......

  • GINA04/15/2005

I love the scent, Omnia by Bvlgair, but it does not last long at all. I'm trying to find a similar scent. Does the Samsara smell similar at all?

  • BEBE03/03/2005

im a believer in samsura. lovely body cream. deluxe. dreaams cpme true. aphropdiasiac. very nice.

  • SCENT ADDICT02/12/2005

I think this is the best cold weather fragrance out there and I've tried them all. It lasts and lasts - the drydown is wonderful.

  • ANYA01/10/2005

I have recently found I can appreciate this perfume again after 15 years of absolutely loathing it! just a hint would make me feel sick - it was the pure parfum that did it for me! Luscious, spicy but not sickening. Then I discoveres layering it with Diptyque's Tam Dao creates slightly more of the sandalwood I love. So-2 options for different moods!

  • SHARRIE12/19/2004

an oriental rush. classic red. flamesa of fire. hot. wonderful.

  • SHARRIE12/17/2004

irresistable in red, classy and sassy, the real deal, ahead of its time, ATTRACTION IN A BOTTLE

  • MOLLY11/13/2004

SAMSARA is my beloved evening wear perfume. It is very Romantic, Elegant and Chic. It makes me feel very special and unique when i wear it. I recommend it for those who want to be extremely different with a classy and sexy touch!

  • EUGENIE M.11/01/2004

I absolutely love this scent. It feels like an irridescent aura all around me. Samsara is not at all heavy or tiresome, it just should not be worn when hot. Actually, the less people love it the better!

  • CAND-E10/19/2004

This is a very classy, sexy, exotic fragrance,Personal favorite and has drawn many mens noses my way ;) .Like feeling like i have a one of a kind perfume on, and samsara does just that !!!

  • MELANIE ELIZABETH09/21/2004

Anna, I know what you mean about the Oriental olfactory group of perfumes. Many can be too heavy, but that can be said of probably any of the other groups as well (floral, aldehydic, etc...) Try Max Azria BCBGirl Sexy perfume (actually it only comes in eau de toilette). It is classified as a soft oriental and it really is. It has a beautiful vanilla scent mixed in with sandalwood and a bunch of other wonderfully warm yet muted ingredients. It's light and I think you'll like it. Word to the wise, spritz your wrist with it and no other fragrance at all, then smell your wrist after 10 seconds or so. Walk around shopping or doing other things, then smell your wrist again in a half hour. I bet you'll like it. Plus, it's relatively inexpensive.

  • CHAS07/31/2004

I absolutely adore this perfume. Everytime I wear it I spend half the day sniffing my wrist. Beautiful scent. It smells fresh and spicy at the same time. Samsara is my fave perfume.

  • EVELYN07/30/2004

Samsara was my first fragrance. I bought it when I was graduating from high school. My boyfriend was crazy about it, for him it was the most beautiful fragrance. I guess I didn't like it that much, I did not even use half the bottle - and a tiny bottle it was. Lately, years after my first bottle I bought another tiny bottle of Samsara. It was not nostalgia, I happened to smell it on a woman and liked it so much. But again I could not wear it. I think Samsara is a quite nice fragrance, especially when you happen to smell it for a short time, it's good and even sooothing. But when you wear it all the time, it becomes overwheolming, call it too much of a good thing if you wish.

  • CHRISTINE05/27/2004

Euphoria in a bottle It might not be for everyone but for whom the bell tolls It's the scent from heaven above

  • SUZANNE04/12/2004

Anna - why not try Byzance by Rochas? I am an "Oriental perfume lover" and it is the closest thing to a floral that I wear. It IS an Oriental, but also very light, floral and refreshing - no wood at all, basically. You may like it - I initially had to get past the aldehydic top note (old lady perfume???) but if you can do that, Byzance is lovely - sexy, warm and fresh.

  • KATHLEEN04/04/2004

Three words to descirbe the effect of Samsara....Men Love It! Reason enough to buy it? I think so.

  • MGARIS04/04/2004

Hi . . . in reference to Nahema, I believe it's true: it did not do well when introduced. Nahema was based on passion fruit. I wasn't crazy about it . . . my favorite Gerulain scents are Parure and L'Heure Bleue. You can find Nahema online . . .

  • PAZZO03/25/2004

I don't like any of guerlain's perfumes till date.I absolutely hate shalimar as I don't think citrus and vanilla gel together.Samsara atleast isn't as bad, but there r a lot of others better smelling than this ,atleast according to me.Total waste of money.

  • DONNA03/16/2004

I, too have been wearing samsara for about 15 years. My ex boyfriend still freaks out when he smells the fragrance in a room! It is definitely unforgetable!

  • SUE C03/14/2004

If you love Samsara but find it's getting a little too popular, try Tuscany per Donna by Aramis/Estee Lauder and Jaipur Saphir by Boucheron, both of which are very beautiful and have lots of luscious sandalwood.

  • MELH03/12/2004

Does anyone know about Nahema? I used to like it, but I think that it has been discontinued. It's a very strong flower and fruity fragrance with a subtle woody tone. I looked for old advertising pictures but I cant' find them on the web. There was a story about the name. A man in a perfumery told me that it had been a flop when it came out. Why? I liked it!

  • MELH03/08/2004

Samsara has been my signature's fragrance for quite a long time. It's simply gorgeous, rich yet delicate, "oriental" but not old old-ladyish like Shalimar or Mitsouko. Many men asked me what I was wearing and were impressed. The only disadvantage is that it's popular that people often recognise it and I don't like this so much. I will always love it, even if I'm running out of it and maybe I will try a new fresher fragrance (mmm...I have this feeling that I will go back to my Samsara!)

  • MERLENE03/06/2004

    ooh so delicious!

  • HERMIONE03/01/2004

This doesn't smell old-ladyish. I know this for sure because I've worked in retirement homes for 8 years. "Old ladies" prefer scents like Passion, White Shoulders, and Chanel #5. Those are old-ladyish for sure. Samsara is very seductive and sexy. I can't imagine one of my patients wearing it.

  • CINDY02/28/2004

Honestly? Gives me headache when I use it...

  • SUE C02/22/2004

It's not surprising that this is Guerlain's top selling fragrance. It will go down as a perfume legend in the top five greatest perfumes along with Joy, L'air du Temps, Shalimar, Je Reviens and Chanel No.5 (according to experts). Samsara is a truly beautiful perfume and should be worn with colours of the sea and sand, turquoise, aqua, sand, sage and amber, cream, black, red and gold. Anyone who doesn't like it probably dislikes sandalwood as it is the dominant ingredient, with Indian jasmine. The limited edition lighter versions of Samsara may suit younger girls.

  • MACHIKO01/21/2004

I have bought a perfume bottle today. I love SAMSARA. Just try one drop on (but not so close to your nose) before bedtime, and you will have a good sleep. For me, it has not just a sexy scent, but also a sedative one.

  • CARAVAN01/01/2004

Samsara and Dior Addict are very different. They are both exotic, evening scents, but that`s it. Addict is very sweet, with heavy vanilla. It is very similar to Shalimar, another Guerlain classic, but it is heavier. Samsara is a woodsy, fresher scent, very complex. I adore Samsara, but I had the EDT and could not smell it after 15 minutes. Addict is very long -lasting, but you must love vanilla to wear it.

  • NEL12/10/2003

another one of my favorite it is a senseous fragrance

  • NINNA12/08/2003

I agree with Kate. Samsara was IMO a horrible concept of a fragrance when I tried it years ago. I tried it again recently, but never again. I can't imagine to wear something so weird, balsamic, old, harsh and agressive on my skin. It makes me sick and is really repulsive. Sorry, I don't want to offend anyone and I believe to all of you who feel so great wearing Samsara. I also can't have any doubt about the great artistry of the house of Guerlain. But I just want to say to all of you who are searching for a nice Oriental fragrance that Samsara is VERY, VERY specific. Try it on your skin, don't buy it only uppon comments and don't buy it for a gift if you are not 100 % sure that the lady is crazy about Samsara.

  • KATE12/01/2003

Strange orientalist perfume so typical to Guerlain. I am from the 'orient' and I dont think this is exotic, rather pretending to be, which is very funny. Above all it is totally old ladyish, completely out of date - not only the concept but the scent itself.

  • PERFUMENUT'7811/14/2003

Another one of my personal favorites-but I do have to admit...it is on the strong side though. Still overall sexy!

  • GAYLE WILSON11/06/2003

This is very powerful, yet feminine. You only need a dash of the splash. The lotion is better. It makes you feel pretty and will not punch you out.

  • TAMMIE10/29/2003

I really liked this fragrance from the very first time I tried it on. It's sophisticated, sexy, alluring - but a little goes a long way. Definitely an evening wear fragrance.

  • YVETTE10/28/2003

This blends perfect with my chemistry. My hubby loves it........on me

  • TONIE10/23/2003

It's the "baby making perfume!" And she has never been more right! She recommended it to me 8 years as an evening fragrance and I love it - and the men do too! I have recommended it to friends and they receive the same responce. I will say, it does make a bold statement and for those who don't like it, it's possible it just doesn't work with your body chemistry. But it sure works with mine!!!

  • ERICA 10/16/2003

I tried this based on all the glowing reviews. Too much sandalwood in this one. It has a nice warm quality and can see how it can smell good on some people, but the wood notes bother me.

  • ELLIZA08/04/2003

tried this a few weeks ago and remembered liking it -- a rich, gentle vanilla base in luxurious sandalwood with hint of citrus. well, i forgot the powder. LOTS of powder. like, a big old bottle of baby powder got loose in the samsara factory and just couldn't stop. tried this on in a mall (barely used any - tiny spritz on wrist), went to a friend's house. hour or so later he walks in, "oooo, yuck. who has all that perfume on?" very fake, perfumey, cloying smell. not at all up to guerlain's usual standard.

  • DEE08/02/2003

so unbelieveably sexy-if you have the right chemistry

  • MYLAAN07/23/2003

After a long break from it I am testing the waters again. It really is a beautiful fragrance.

  • MARY06/11/2003

This is a very nice distinctive scent, very sexy, very lovely...I really like it!

  • JOY05/28/2003

I used to wear this years ago. It is pleasant, but I prefer Ysatis by a long shot.

  • MISS TRESS05/24/2003

This perfume is so intoxicating! My lover adores it, but won't take me to his bed for fear his wife will smell me there later... ;-)

  • JULISSA CRUZ04/15/2003

I REALLY REALLY LOVE SAMSARA IT SMELL SO GOOD, IT MAKES ME GO CRAZY AND IT ALSO MAKES FEEL REALLY SEXY. THANK YOU SAMSARA.

  • VANESSA RAMOS 04/12/2003

I love it is the best thank you.

  • MARYMAGS04/04/2003

Cant wear too much of this, but in small doses, its very nice

  • AURELIE04/01/2003

An island of calm in a world of madness... One of my top 5.

  • PERFUMANIAC03/23/2003

it is an excellent scent with a harmoniously blended ingredients.

  • ANNA02/26/2003

...I've tried Tuscany per Donna years ago and it was pretty good, as far as I remember now. Thanks for suggestion, I'm going to try it again. It is semi-oriental I think, and it could be better for me than a pure oriental. Thanks again! :-)

  • ROBIN02/21/2003

Smells like something my mother would wear, not for me.

  • TINAB02/20/2003

I bought this scent "unsmelled," using just your suggestions as my guide. It is sooo sexy, sooo elegant, sooo inviting--one of my all-time favorites!!!! Thanks to all of the Samsara lovers out there-really!!! : )

  • DEVIN02/16/2003

While Samsara is not my favorite perfume, I do like it. The vast majority of the public seems to have a love/hate relationship with Guerlain. I prefer Shalimar. Anna, have you tried Tuscany Per Donna? It's excellent. Also, Chopard makes Orientals and pretty much nothing else. Good luck.

  • ANNA02/03/2003

I don't know why but I find all Guerlain's fragrances very hard to wear. They are all a bit on a heavy side, very weird, even the floral Champs Elyysees is kind of heady. I've tried Samsara for many times because I'd like to find a nice Oriental to "warm me up" a little, bet there is too much sandalwood in Samsara, I think, and I feel sick with it... Could anyone give me some suggestions, I don't have luck with Orientals - they all seam so heavy and overpowering on me, maybe because I have very fair complexion (light, sensitive skin) or what??? I don't know.

  • NANCY R02/03/2003

i got mine in macy's, not sure where u live, but they had it when i got mine, king of prussia store

  • ANDREA_CROATIA01/29/2003

It's the most yumy in my collection It is a little bit old but have one very exotic note!

  • CARELIA01/26/2003

    One word "SEXY"

  • CHRSITINE01/14/2003

I have been wearing Samsara for several years and am always surprised at the number of people who ask "What fragrance are you wearing?". The fragrance never changes during the course of the day. I will continue to use Samsara for years to come.

  • JENNY01/13/2003

love samsara's fragrance. nothing else comes close. used since '89.

  • ENI01/10/2003

    Very old and powdery.

  • KAY12/23/2002

    compliements all the time

  • LIANE12/17/2002

For the longest time, I couldn't find anything I liked as much as Coco Chanel, but I'm crazy about Samsara! I was a little afraid to try it at first because it was described as "powdery," which I didn't think I would like. Glad I tried it because all "powdery" scents are not created equal! This is just divine!!

  • JACQUELINE12/12/2002

This product can be found at Dillards. Peace Jackie

  • GARRY12/05/2002

Samsara has swiped my fiancee off her feet and then mine. We both love it. Carry more Samsara products such as body gel and shampoo, deordorant etc

  • GARRY12/05/2002

Does anyone know where I can find it.

  • JACQUELINE12/03/2002

All fans of samsara should petition Guerlain to make a powder box for Samsara. It is mysterious yet wearable. I was a Poison fan but Samsara has won my affection as well as my husband's. Oh la la!

  • CARELIA BROWN12/03/2002

samsara it is very sexy and calm excellent.

  • E.11/21/2002

I made my acquaintance with Samsara through a test flask in a store in Vienna about 3 months ago and I just love the scent.

...So my purist old sis has given up Samsara because water was added to the parfum...Ok,they shouldn't have done that,BUT:First of all,I am checking the days on my calendar, because I doubt Lola will be able to stay away from Samsara for much longer...For myself,I only use the body shampoo, and a product that used to be sold in the U.S but is now only available in Paris,at the Guerlain house.(By the way, merci beaucoup,Mamie,je t'aime!!) It's an alcohol free silicone based dry oil spray that is to be used as an after bath body moisturizer and people, it is the most bloody f------ unreal thing to ever hit the perfume industry to date!!! The scent it leaves on the skin really is like the cream & parfum layered together, but the feel of the skin is greaseless with absolutely no residue, soft, velvety, touchable ooomf, ooomf, ooomf...And as luck would have it, I cannot find it anywhere in this country,so were it not for the coolest Grandma in the world, bar none,I would be whining as loud as Lola, right now...As much as I love the scent, though,I will give it only 4 stars:Guerlain should know better than to try cutting cost with such a perfect fragrance.Perfume IS expensive,it is a luxury,it is as vain a treat as it comes, and that's what makes it so special. What Guerlain did was in the name of greed, and it sucks.

Stephanie,I'm sorry,I screwed up: I meant to say that there is a spicy edge in ADDICT,not Samsara.Still,I think it's a nice scent,a few friends of mine who work at perfume counters have told me that Addict is already very successful, and that apparently,it's selling like mad.

  • MAYA10/18/2002

No,definitely not. There is a spicy edge in Samsara that you won't find in Addict. The new Dior also has a few fruity notes that are lacking in Samsara, and Samsara has A LOT MORE sandalwood in the heart and base notes.I do love both, though.

  • STEPHANIE10/17/2002

I've heard on other message boards that Dior Addict smells similar to Samsara? Is that true? I still haven't caught a whiff of Samsara but I smelled Dior Addict today and I have to get some! And if they smell alike, holy crap, some good stuff! No wonder you guys love Samsara so much. Dior Addict is wonderful. If you haven't tried it, go and smell it today!

  • D10/03/2002

Does anyone know where I can putchase Samsara Dusting Powder?

  • STEPHANIE09/19/2002

but only because I haven't been able to smell it yet. I need to go to the mall or something. I saw a bottle at Walmart for a good price, but no tester around, and wanted to try it before buying. One day gonna try it though and if I love it, buy some. :D Then I'll post my thoughts. Hopefully that will be soon!

  • LOLA08/27/2002

Samsara took eleven years to create and was originally intended for the wife of Jean-Paul Guerlain. To this day,he still mixes,by hand,a secret personalized version (the original) just for her, which is,and will remain unavailable to the general public.

  • E. BURGESS08/10/2002

Samsara was made with the french actress Catherine Deneuve in mind. Read this in fall 99 vogue magazine.

  • THERESA08/07/2002

I have been wearing this scent for about five years now. Women and Men LOVE it! It is my signature. I am constantly being asked what perfume I wear - Often times by complete starngers and lots of men. I never want to say because I don't want anyoen else smelling like me!

  • ALLISON07/26/2002

My sister wears this. It's okay, but it's kind of old don't you thinks? Does anyone have any suggestions on what to get my sister instead of this one? This smells like old people's perfume. Thanks:-)

  • MELH07/25/2002

Great perfume ever! A little bit out of fashion now but very good and sexy without being intoxicating! I don't wear it anymore because I associate perfumes to periods of my life.

  • CAROLYN C.07/16/2002

A beauiful erotic type perfume that is not a copy-cat or a young girl's only perfume. To be enjoyed by women the world over. Excellent perfume.

  • STEPHANIE07/11/2002

I think I'm gonna see if I can find a mini bottle somewhere to try it out first. Thanks a lot everyone. :)

  • LOLA07/08/2002

2 years ago I wore Samsara nonstop. Then I started to associate the scent with a particularly nasty and depressing summer,so I stopped. Now I've decided to try it again,(let's face it:it is a kick-ass scent!). Somehow it smelled different, with less staying power, even though I use the full strength perfume. So I read the ingredients on the package, and there it was:They've added WATER to the perfume!!!Yuck! What is wrong with these people?! They've taken one of the best perfumes on the planet and watered it down like some cheap lemonade! I'm so bummed out.One thing is sure,as of now I'm officially on the prowl for a replacement.

  • SOPHIA07/07/2002

If you don't want to spend a lot of money and then realize you don't like a parfume, you can always buy a "sample size" bottle (0.1 oz or so). That's how I got my Samsara - and I absolutely love it.

  • LOLA07/06/2002

there is a sharpness in the fragrances that you mentioned that is not in samsara.although it is a sexy, sweet oriental,it does not have the fruity-floral angle that you seem to respond to.try Jaipur Saphir by Boucheron instead. But for God's sake, never, ever,EVER buy a fragrance without sampling it in the store,on your wrist, first. This site is full of horror stories on this topic.no lie.

  • STEPHANIE07/05/2002

I have never smelled this, but after reading everyone's great reviews, I want to buy some. For some reason I've always thought I would like it. Can anyone tell me if it would be a good idea to get this? I love oriental- sweet, sexy perfumes so it sounds like it is for me. They have a great gift pack set at a store where I live and I want to splurge on it. Would I be crazy to get my fiance to buy this for me without smelling it? To give you some help with the types of fragrances I like: Gucci Rush, Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel, Chloe Narcisse, Poison.. does it sound like this perfume would be a good fit for me? Any help would be great. :)

  • RALPH07/01/2002

I WISH MORE WOMEN WOULD SMELL LIKE THIS. VERY GOOD SMELL FOR A WOMAN. VERY WARM AND SEXY. I LIKE THIS ON A WOMAN.

  • BETHANY06/14/2002

Thank you very much for your excellent explanation, it helped a lot. I have the kind of body chemistry that seems to make certain fragrances "disappear" :-) so I think I better buy the eau de parfum. This is such a great scent and I definitely want it to last. Your help is appreciated.

  • LOLA06/14/2002

that really depends on your personal chemistery and preferance.on me fragrance does not last, even in the pit of summer, even when i choose the headiest scent!so i not only ALWAYS go with the full strength parfum,i also layer it on top of the body products.for me this is just right, but for others,it might be total overkill!experiment with various products, although i've heard many people say they like to use the alcohol-free spray in the summer,(it's a silicone based dry oil;jaw-dropping to die for),and switch to the eau de toilette in the winter.Samsara is so potent that you probably won't need more.of course,if you spend your winters in alaska, you might want to go for the eau de parfum.keep in mind, though, that skin with more pigment and/or more oil, including body types with more fatty tissue will retain scent for a lot longer than others.

  • A.06/13/2002

This scent grew more alluring as I wore it. On me it seems to celebrate exotic woods, chiefly sandal. It's heady without being sweet, and its warmth speaks of truly masterful perfume-making.

  • BETHANY06/12/2002

I smelled this in a body lotion and it is absolutely heavenly. One question-is the eau de parum too strong or would the eau de toilette be better? I am new to the Samsara fragrance. Thank you.

  • STACEY04/18/2002

I have to agree with you all! Samsara is the best. I've used it for 10 years, and even now when I see an old friend, they remember how I smelled. One friend said he knew I was at his dorm because he smelled me in his courtyard. I love it!!!

  • SABRINA04/09/2002

I love to try different fragrances, but Samsara is hands down, my all time favorite, I've been wearing it at least 10 years. It is the only fragrance where men consistently ask me "what perfume are you wearing?". I'm talking about my eye doctor, dentist and lawyer! I think men love it because it smells so clean and warm without smelling heavy and overpowering. I love it for the same reasons!

  • CARLA04/02/2002

Nice but well, not really too strong , but well, a oriental so use it sparingly

  • LYNNE03/27/2002

You can't imagine the number of times over the past 5 years that people have asked me what fragrance I wear...the best thing was - I was in someone's office for a meeting and a guy I used to work with was walking down the hall and passed the office, stopped and came back, and said 'I thought I knew that fragrance'. It is my trademark, as to me, perfume is a very personal choice and says something about the person. It works best when layered.

  • KANDIA03/14/2002

I love Samsara. It has a very oriental, woodsy type of smell that is intoxicating. I always spray a lot on because I can't seem to smell it on myself. This one is definitely a keeper. If you like 5th Avenue or Ellen Tracy then I think you'll probably love this one too.

  • VIVIANNE NOAKES03/11/2002

I believe there is not another perfume quite like this one.

  • TRAV03/11/2002

For me, this is Guerlain's masterpiece. This is so distinctive, unmistakable, so sexy. It's spicy and warm, yet clean and very mysterious. I love it. Can't go wrong with this one ladies, guys go ga ga for this one.

  • SMILEY03/07/2002

I have been wearing this parfum since it first came out and have turned many people onto the sent. it is a shame though not more samples are available to the public

  • CLAUDETTE01/20/2002

Does this come in gift package

  • H.12/26/2001

    Men LOVE Samsara. It's beautiful!

  • AIMEE12/20/2001

Spicy; ends with powder and woods.

  • DEBORAH12/16/2001

I have been wearing for 6 years now. It is the only perfume that I wear.

  • VANESSA12/16/2001

sexy, super wonderful scent. I try loads but this is definately the best. Men do love it.

  • ELAINE LITTLES12/13/2001

SAMSARA IS THE BOMB VERY SPECIAL

  • A.12/10/2001

I,ve tried Samsara SHINE and I like it.

  • TAMMY RUBIN11/30/2001

I tried it on my first trip to USA (1999), and everytime I smell it I remember that first time......... (unforgettable)

  • ANGELA DELGADO11/26/2001

I tried samsara when it first came on the scene 10 years ago, I was 16 then now im 26 and i still wear it. Its one of the greatests. Samsara is good if you want exotic, ethnic, sex, lust, distraction and magnetism in one!

  • EDEN11/23/2001

One of the sexiest perfumes ever created!

  • PATRICIA11/17/2001

I like both Samsara and new Samsara-Shine. Original Samsara is vanilla based, soft oriental, very sophisticated and ellegant, "serious", and new Samsara-Shine is more sparkling, vivid, fruity, kind of "younger" version, maybe version for younger ladies or girls. I like both, maybe the original Samsara is going to stay a real classic.

  • PHILLIP11/07/2001

I think Judy is right, it does attract men. One of my favorites for sure and nothing offensive about it. Samsara is a beautiful, sophisticated, and very feminine perfume but not too "snooty". I like the smell of Boucheron and Tova but to me they seem like they'd be worn by snobs. Samsara is a bit more down-to-earth but still mysterious - definitely a keeper.

  • MARIA11/01/2001

Yesterday I tested this parfume. It seems to me that it is more soft and intimate that old Samsara. It remind me a little not old S but L'heur Bleu. Unfortunately when testing I used Mitsouko, so I couldn't do it well, but I will make another try without any parfum on me.

  • KARINA10/24/2001

I haven't had a chance to try this yet, but according to the Guerlain website, it's a "fresher, more sparkling interpretation of Samsara", with less emphasis on the spicy, woody notes. I'll probably stop by Sephora on my way home form work tomorrow to see if they have it yet. Chances are, it'll be a nice scent, since nearly eveything from Guerlain is!

  • V.10/18/2001

What about new "Samsara-SHINE"? Anybody knows anything about it?

  • PINAR10/11/2001

I have been using Samsara for years andit is the only perfume I wear.It is mysterious, sensual and sexy which reminds my bf of me all the time whenever he come across it:)

  • EVONE09/29/2001

I think its great. I wore it many years ago and turned a lot of men's heads.

  • NONI09/07/2001

a must do for every women its just something unique and memorable about it

  • STEPHANIE09/05/2001

This is a very unique, intriguing oriental. I smelled a lot of vanilla in it. The first time I tried it on I kept sniffing my wrist over and over again, I just couldn't get enough of it!

  • DEBBIE08/27/2001

Samsara is the best smelling perfume ever to be made. Men and women love the fragrance....

  • JUDY08/21/2001

IT IS WONDERFUL! I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH FLOWERY BASE SCENTS. BUT, I CAN WEAR SPICE, SANDALWOOD AND ORIENT BASED SCENTS ALL DAY AND STILL GET ASKED "WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?"

  • JUDY08/07/2001

Samsara is a very sensual perfume. Every time I wear this perfume I get one compliment after another. OI even had a man ask me what it was so he can get it for his wife. I love it !

  • JOLENE07/29/2001

Samsara is the best fragrance by Guerlain! It's one of my favorite Oriental fragrances. It has a beautiful, rich & exotic scent. It won the Fifi award in 1989. If you're looking for a warm, intoxicating fragrance that's not too overbearing, this is it!!!

  • RUBY07/07/2001

it's a oriental. sweet and not too strong. but it lasts. lots of men compliment me on this. in fact, it's the only perfume i get compliments on. i think it has a lot of amber, sandalwood and vanilla in it. for me, it's the perfect perfume

  • EDIE06/23/2001

I LOVE Samsara! It is the sexiest fragrance ever created! It's a very warm and sensual perfume. I recommend this one. You can't go wrong with it.

  • MARCY06/22/2001

Samsara is a great smell. I wore Opium for about 18 years, and Samsara smells very similar to it. Nice smell.

  • ANGELA06/11/2001

Samsara was introduced to me in 1993. It has been my favorite fagrance since. It is strong, but not overwhelming, almost pleasant. I keep a mini with me all the time, and not once did I go through a day without someone asking me what am I wearing. I recommend this fagrance if you are looking for something sexy and sophisticated. It doesn't wear off like alot of scents do.

  • ELISHA05/09/2001

This is a great oriental scent spicy, witha floral quality. It smells great. I highly recomomend it

  • LEOA04/19/2001

purchased the perfumed body lotion after smelling it on a friend. she said "i just have the lotion on!" It smelled wonderful! i made a mistake and put some on before going to the video store, just a little dab yaw! my husband said i smell up the whole store! I is wonderful be cautious of the amount that you put on, lotion of toilette!

  • EILEEN03/30/2001

Samsara is mysterious and kind of smoky. I you like sandalwood, this is for you.

  • BRIDGET02/07/2001

As my friend Virginie, would say Samsara is gorgeous. It's a bit heavy. More of a winter, or night fragrance. Exotic with a touch of sweetness.
