I have been wearing Shalimar since I was 12 years old and I am now 55. I found the light version in 2006. I am out, but don't want to go back to the older version. What is it with people? Wasn't this a good seller? Please bring it back.

  • MERLITA06/09/2011

Today is June 2011, and it is amazing to see all your messages from 2007 trying to find this product; well, I just found out, here and now, that Shalimar Light is NO LONGER being manufactured by Guerlain. What is more disturbing is that NO emporium/sales, etc. could inform us except to say, "...sorry, we don't have it," "...sorry, it is on back order," ",,,sorry, it is on a waiting list," etc., etc., etc. Well, we the customers and all who carried this product must report to Guerlain on how many dissatisfied customers are out there.

  • SHARON T.04/06/2010

I was told by a Guerlain rep that Eau de Shalimar was the same as Shalimar Light. Ladies.... it is not!!!!! I have the bottles to prove it.

  • KRISTI02/17/2009

I cannot wear the original and I feel like it's just too musky for me. It weighs me down. This is amazing... it's incredible. All of the notes that I love in the original have been picked out. A lemony jasmine vanilla. With depth and enough to make it sensual. I think it is discontinued... but I found it online. The 2006 version at least.

  • LORI10/16/2008

I was so bummed when I couldn't find this in the stores!! Thanks, perfume emporium!! But...why is it NOT in the stores?? I wore reg. shalimar for years, but always thought it was a little to strong for me. this is perfect!!! everyone always asks me what I'm wearing.

  • ANNAMARIA06/16/2008

This very day, I saw this new version in a department store. Sounds like Shalimar Light by another name. Very pretty.

  • SUZANNE02/15/2008

I wrote to Guerlain...Shalimar Light coming back in April under a new name..does anyone know what this name will be? Love this fragrance!!! Advised that "Shalimar Light" was a "limited edition" though, not advertised much, and was discontinued. Anyone know a similar fragrance that matches this???

  • ALFIE10/06/2007

Shalimar light is the first woman fragrance that I considered to buy. I love the light version better than the original one. It's softer and I guess it also smells like L'instant de Guerlain pour homme d'une ete. Until now I'm still confuse which one do i have to buy.

  • STEPHANIE08/31/2007

Love this fragrance but can't fine it anywhere except online...retail said discontinued. How do we get this back on the market and who would we write to have this done? Too good a fragrance to let go and not enough advertising done for it. I found it by accident and love it

  • SUSAN 08/25/2007

Did they discontinue this wonderful, light scent...want it back! Where can I still find it?

  • PERFUMER08/16/2007

Great option for Shalimar in the summer and hot fall days. Great staying power and the shimmering body lotion is very subtle and nicely scented. I'm having trouble finding. Did they discontinue?

  • KATHY Z.07/22/2007

Love this lemony fragrance. Very refreshing. Perfect for summer when regular Shalimar might be a bit heavy. If you are a Shalimar fan you should definately try this one as it does retain the beauty of the original.

  • RICHARD05/06/2007

Being a male, I picked up a gift for my mother last year, since she loved the original. She didnt like this as well. I tried it on, and surprisingly like it. It does smell very feminine, then so do many scents marketed for men! Especially Habit Rouge. This is almost ready to go public with me, especially after a nice drydown! Thanks, Mom for bringing this to my attention!

  • LUSI03/02/2007

great if you want to be elegante even on summer. Try this one !

  • ELISABETH01/21/2007

I wear this one when I am in the mood for a sweet vivid scent. This one combines sweet vanilla with sparkling citrus ingredients. I prefere Shalimar Eau Legere to Angel which I regret I cannot wear for its heavy patchouli note although it contains some pepper notes which I miss in Shalimar.

  • ANNIE10/10/2006

This new version of Shalimar made me a fan again. Years ago I wore shalimar parfum, and it's pretty divine no doubt about it. Years before that I wore shalimar eau de cologne, which is also very nice (I miss colognes). I think it was the eau de toilette that turned me off with its musty fustiness. They got it right with this version. It smells absolutely delicious, no mustiness, just simplified and fresh and sexy. Top notch and on my wish list big time. Maybe Santa will bring me some. :-)

  • BERITANETTE10/02/2006

I say that because I can't wear the original Shalimar. Shalimar is exellent, but it make me feel tired and "heavy". I can wear Shalimar Light - beautiful, fresh and elegant. Lasting power is good to

  • ERICA09/04/2006

First, no, there is no patchoulie in this at all! And to JB, a men's cologne?? No way! Shalimar Light is so feminine it's ridiculous! I can't see a straight man wearing this at all.

  • MERELEIGH05/27/2006

This is what I would like to know, please. The original is perfect on me for about 20 minutes, and then it reeks of patchouli. It may be my chemistry, and without that problem, it is perfect and wonderful. Of course, the final product scent matters the most to my nostrils. So does the Light skip the heady drydown and just fade from the powdery beginning gradually? Thank you all in advance. ;)

  • JB05/23/2006

This should have been marketed as Shalimar for men. It smells great, but it doesnt smell like a womens fragrance to me at all. To me it smells along the lines of todays mens colognes, and IMO I bet that if they had geared it towards men it would have been a huge hit.

  • KARANN04/28/2006

I sampled this in the dept. store quite some time ago and loved it. In the meantime I flirted with many other fragrances (I'm just not a one scent kind of gal) I've been reading about this turning up at another store and the like for little money. I am now on a mission to add this to my collection. It was worth it even at the full marked up dept. store prices. It's gorgeous stuff!

  • REBECCA04/24/2006

I've loved this since it debuted! Not really into wearing the original, but this I never get tired of smelling. Luca Turin, for those who know him, said this is one of his favorites.

  • PERFUME PERSON01/23/2006

I really love this fragrance. It is a nicer version of the original. The original comes off harsh on me and a bit chemical smelling. This one dries down to a lemon powder like scent that has great staying power.

  • DEBBIE01/13/2006

I prefer Shalimar Light over the regular, however both are beautiful. The Light version works better with my chemistry.

  • SABS12/24/2005

I did a side by side test on my wrists to see the difference. Orginal Shalimar is lovely and heady, but too sweet for me, so I can't comment much. Shalimar light began crisp and then 10 min later morphed into Jasmine and vanilla, very much like the BBW aromatherapy version. Then the jasmine faded some and it cooled into a warm vanilla musk--Not my cup o' tea, but lovers of shalimar may like this for the daytime. And Chanel no 19 is wonderful, but nothing like this--An incredible day scent, it's assertive, a bit leathery-powdery and green and NOT sweet at all, like the shalimars.

  • ALLISON R.10/24/2005

I got a sample of the light, thinking it would still be similar to Shalimar only less intense. It's all together a different scent. It doesn't have any sort of depth or richness as the original. It smells almost watered down in a way, with a sprig of citrus. It just didn't agree with me. For those who want a fragance like the light, only 10x's better try Chanel no.19.

  • PENNY MCW09/27/2005

I bought this because Shalimar is really too in your face (or up your nose) for daytime wear, but although this is a bit less overpowering than the original it is still hardly for shrinking violets. To my mind you need to exercise a bit of caution about wearing it to work...

  • DARLA09/26/2005

I agree that this is not a lighter version of the original, just a more "refreshing" scent. There's no mistake about what you're wearing; Shalimar is Shalimar, but the newer scent is a little crisper.

  • PATTI09/25/2005

I am 50 years old and fell in love with Shalimar when i was 15! it has always been my favorite. when i tried the sample of Shalimar Light, I was nothing short of delighted! i use it regularly now as do my 14 and 16 year olds! Shalimar light is wonderful and I am happy that we are keeping up a family tradition. I hope that they never stop making it!

  • SHERRY09/21/2005

Sends me to my special higher self. This is what my opinion of a well made perfume is supposed to do! Om!

  • REBECCA08/26/2005

I am a fan of both the original and now this, and I'm 23. So to me perfume doesn't have an age at all unless you label it as "that older ladies perfume". This is easier to wear, more of the warm vanilla and lemon added. It's comfortable, but sexy in it's own place. It brings a new light to shalimar, for most that would think it's too much for them to handle. This is great and I hope they never discontinue it, it really has brought attention and seduction. The perfumes now are so fruity and like juice water.

  • SUSANBEADS08/15/2005

Now I can wear Shalimar in the summer without feeling like I'm wearing a loud fragrance. I feel classy in this well made scent.

  • FRAGRANCE JUNKIE07/02/2005

If you like Shalimar, you'll probably enjoy Shalimar Light. It smells much like the original to me, but a little powderier I think. Better for daytime or year-round wear, versus the original which to me is a nighttime fragrance and a fall/winter scent.

  • SHERI06/03/2005

I loved this. Loved it alot when I caught a whiff from a magazine. However, I soon bought it and found that after a few hours the powdery/musky smell begins to take over the other, more intriguing notes. And so, I found this as quite a disappointment. However, try a test spray first and see what you think. . . maybe it's only me, personally. :)

  • GLORIA05/03/2005

I'm a fan! I only wear the Shalimar pure parfum, body cream and this. Shalimar Light will probably be a staple for me year round. I live in Florida and it's mostly warm here. I don't care much for the edt and edp anymore as they've tweaked it. The parfum is divine and this is sparkling and wonderful as I'm an oriental lover.

  • KRIS03/04/2005

When I was in my early 20s I wore some very sophisticated fragrances and Shalimar was one of them. Shalimar is only a memory now and I often wonder how I ever wore such a heavy scent! Then I stumbled upon this lovely masterpiece. I don't think it is light but rather a modern interpretation of the original. I am using up all of my samples but will definitely purchase this soon!

  • MARIE02/09/2005

I thought this was going to be perfect. I had to wash it off, I couldn't sleep. It smells very much like the man's Habit Rouge, strangely.

  • D01/15/2005

It's like sinking into lemon sorbet with moulds of Chantilly cream. Lemon sorbet or genuine, fresh vanilla custard? I don't know, just hope Guerlain isn't going to discontinue this gem.

  • PETUNIA12/08/2004

Can't get to far away from it, (Shalimar, that is). Now at 39 I've given up running. I know: original Shalimar smells like being hugged after church by your big-bosomed auntie. But know this: articles on French movie stars always cite Shalimar as "their" scent. For those of us who are maybe not French movie stars, but who still want to be sexy and fascinating, Shalimar Light is the plan. It's smooth and retains the wonderfully addictive amber middle, but also features a wonderful citrus-y surround. You can wear it to work and not feel like your slip is showing.

  • HAMPWIFE11/23/2004

i didn't like it that much because it smell like giorgio. and i just hate that scent and i couldn't get down with it.

  • STEPHK11/22/2004

This is such a wonderful fragrance. I have never been able to wear the original Shalimar, even though I like it on others. But this one is very different, much fresher and more youthful. I also really love the bottle.
