If this makes any sense, this scent is too..."perfumey" like walking through the men's section at Macys (which is equivalent to asphyxiation!). I must be allergic as I also have been sneezing since I sprayed it several hours ago. Like others have noted, I also don't smell the vetiver in it. A sibling of mine thought I smelled like Abercrombie and Fitch. Not what I was looking for- back to the store it goes!

This has a VERY nice smell! Traditional, mature without being dated! There is a slight initial cotton candy aroma as someone noted, but developing from that. It is a pure romantic, candle light dinner by the open fire place kinda smell. I like it!!

I've worn Calvin Klein Truth for a couple years and it always drew positive comments. I recently switched to Lanvin Vetyver as the scent seemed more "mature." I am overwhelmed by the unsolicited compliments on my fragrance. It's unbelieveable! I work in an office that is over 80% female and the compliments are overwhelming. An incredible scent!

A PALE CONTRAST TO GUERLAIN. THE ORIGINAL LANVIN WAS SUPERIOR. THERE IS AN INITIAL SMELL OF VETIVER, BUT THIS FADES TO A VERY FAINT SMELL SO SIMILAR TO MANY OTHER NONDESCRIPT COLOGNES OF TODAY.

I don't think anyone has answered the question posed below regarding the pronunciation of Lanvin. If someone has, please accept the apologies for this doublet. Lanvin is pronounced "Lahn-van" where the final n is shortened and nasalized in the French way such that it's almost not there. The final "a" in the phonetic guide above is a short "a" to American ears.

I recently bought a bottle of Lanvin Vetyver and I couldn't smell the Vetiver! Also bought the Creed product and it is nice and soft, the vetiver is subdued and the scent rapidly wears down. I DO like Guerlain's Vetiver, as I finished a bottle last month, I don't mind if it is dated, I was born in '59 and I've been searching for a theme, different from most, since I stopped wearing Halston Z14 several years back.

I bought it thinking this would be the same Givenchy had years ago. It is not the same vetiver, still good coming from a classy designers house but the old one was better.

The difference between Lanvin Vetyver and the other vetiver scents is that Lanvin is much more modern. I haven't tried Azzaro, but Guerlain Vetiver is totally dated.

Dear Friends - Don't go by the shape of the bottle or the color, this cologne is not worth the money at all. go for JPG-Le Male instead.

Lanvin claimed to be the first to do vetiver in 1965. Guerlian had his version out in 1959. I'd like to know how this fragrance rates with Azzaro's 'Pure Vetiver', and Guerlain's 'Vetiver'.

This is a above average scent. I noticed previous posts referring to how strong this stuff is. On me this stuff doesn't last that long. This scent sort of reminds me of cotton candy right when you put it on.

How is "Lanvin" pronounced? I've heard everything from "lahn-veen" to "lan-wan."

this is a perfect mix. In terms of raw smell, this is the best- nothing better. My only complaint is that it initially is a bit too strong and can be overwhelming, but it settles down quickly and a great lighter smell that the ladies go gaga over!!!!!

this is the shit. The only problem here is that it is very strong so go lightly on it. You dont want it to be overpowering.
