I have used this perfume on and off for some time and it has never changed. I think it is a classic...

  • LYN08/10/2015

i have always loved white linen fragrance. this latest purchase is no exception. my sister and neighbor both tried it and fell in love with it, too.

  • TGB06/06/2012

I briefly used White Linen about 15 years ago on suggestion by my mother and liked it at that time. I haven't used it since then. When I smelled it some days ago, I was very satisfied, it was even better than I remembered and I really enjoyed smelling it on and around me during the day, great staying power! A clean (without being soapy) floral that is very wearable. The sort of fragrance I would use when it doubt of what to wear.

  • ROSIE TEA06/12/2011

this is a pretty unique scent, I tried it as a young teen and really fell in love with it, its such a fresh and clean fragrance. a little goes a long way. It reminds me of Christmas and special occasions. love it that Estee Lauder bring out the mini's at christmas time and they last all year.

  • JULIE09/26/2010

It's true, ladies. Men often ask me what scent I am wearing.... they notice it, and like it!

  • TALKGIRL06/19/2010

I love this fragrance!!! I use to wear it back in the late 80's and have recently rediscovered it all over again! Perfect for the summer!!!!

This extremely successful darling of the Lauder fold epitomises the values of the homely family, the simple pleasures of clean living and the stripping away of overt opulence. With its goody-two-shoes scrubbed-clean image, it´s a minor miracle White Linen has survived nearly two decades to become firmly entrenched in women´s minds as a perfectly nice, socially acceptable and non-offending fragrance. Why is it such a success? Probably because it´s so undemanding and undemonstrative. It simply doesn´t make waves. In fact, it barely manages a ripple, so well mannered is its personality. But to call it dull or humdrum would be to do it an injustice. Despite the fact that most women who religiously wear it regard it as "safe" (meaning comfortable, refreshing and refined), it is much more interesting and complex than that. White Linen has an airy, breezy, almost breathless headiness, and although it´s made from a richly scented floral bouquet, it doesn´t actually smell very sweet at all. The presence of vetyver, that highly pungent Javanese grass-root, probably gives the game away, along with the soft citrus mellowness of mandarin. These together add a countrified air to the presence of Bulgarian rose and jasmine, along with strong infusions of lilac and lily of the valley. There´s also a considerable whack of cedarwood and amber. Altogether these ingredients evoke a clear, breezy midsummer´s day abuzz with bees and with birds twittering through fields of wildflowers. Romantic is too strong a word - perhaps "captivating" is nearer the essence. White Linen is honest and disarming, with a crisp clarity nicely softened at the edges - like a white raw linen dress trimmed with lots of broderie anglaise. Decent menfolk love it on decent womenfolk, and even kids like it on their mums! It has that rare capacity of smelling good on just about everyone..This is a timeless classic to make your own.

This is my HG Spring/Summer/Fall fragrance. I wear it from March until Halloween. It is a crisp, green, floral that I absolutely love. It stays on my body forever and the lotion & powder are great with the spray. I can spray it in the afternoon and still pick up the scent of it in the am. This one works for me so well!!

Decent menfolk like it on decent womenfolk, and even kids like it on their mums! What to wear it with, where and when? You shouldn´t deviate too far from the fresh, crisp, just-laundered approach. Stick to white, cream, mushroom, grey, yellow, pale green and blue and all the pastels, patterned or plain. White Linen is definitely a daytime darling - wearing it at night requires a lot of effort, which may end up being inappropriate, especially when it has to compete with the big league. Let it hibernate in winter; spring and summer are its natural compatibles. Age is totally unimportant - you can give it as a gift to a grandmother or granddaughter.

  • KITTY01/03/2009

I love White Linen. I used to work in a Law Firm in the early 80's with a co-worker who used to wear this fragrance. It smelled divine on her. I decided to give it a try and purchased a bottle for myself. I loved it - not too many people wear this today and that is nice for those of us who want a mysterious signature fragrance. I would definitely recommend this perfume to others. It has a youthfulness about it that is difficult to explain. It's a great Summer fragrance....if you are looking for something clean and nice smelling.

  • TAMMY S.R.10/11/2008

Change is not always good. Why did you tamper with a good thing. I had use white linen for decades. It was my signature fragrance. Now I am searching for a new one.

  • HANDPRINTS10/01/2008

I used to get stopped by men and women all the time when I used White Linen back in the 80s and 90s. It was my signature scent. Even my daughter's freinds loved it, they were in their teens. Thinking of going back to it. Men of all ages love this one.

  • EVE08/04/2008

White Linen is one of my all time favorites. I like to change my perfumes but White Linen always comes back to me! It's always a gift to smell it. Gorgeous.

  • TRINIGAL05/06/2008

My goodness, from old lady scent to alcohol and sprite, lord knows what next they will classify this one. I found it to be light & airy and to make it smell even more beautiful and lady-like, I used dove deodorant in original. A true classic in my book.

  • TRINIGAL04/07/2008

My goodness, from old lady smell to sprite and alcohol, lord knows what else this fragrance would smell like. I think it's best to use sparingly, because let's face it,with so many choices of fragrances out there, you just can't beat a classic.

  • TRINIGAL 04/04/2008

  • TRINIGAL03/22/2008

White linen is a clean and refreshing fragrance and i've found that it lasts longer when used with dove deodorant in original or powder. I can't see why some people think it smells musty or old lady like, but i guess not everyone can appreciate a classic when they see one.

  • BLONDIE12/29/2007

If this matches your body chemistry, it is pure magic. It used to be much better on me years ago when it first came out. Now, not so much it seems to turn. But on the right person there is something about this one that is just intoxicatingly beautiful. If it suits you you can't do better.

  • JULIETTE12/06/2007

This is one scent that I truly love. It don't think it smells soapy, and truthfully, it is "not a scent for grandma". I don't "smell" a citrus undertone in it. It's in my opinion, very romantic

  • PERFUME PERSON11/12/2007

I have used this on and off since 1982. It totally works on me. A great every day scent. You have to have the chemistry to pull it off. I get questioned and stopped all the time about this one, it is clean but really potent. The shower gel is great and so is the body lotion/cream. And not everyone is wearing this one - a big plus for me.

  • JANIS10/03/2007

I HAVE USED WHITE LINEN FOR YEARS. I ALWAYS FEELS SEXY AND FRESH AND BEAUTIFUL WHEN I USE THIS FRAGRANCE. I LOVE TO LAYER THE FRAGRANCE. BODY LOTION AND POWER AND THEN FINALLY COLOGNE. IT WILL LAST ALL DAY AND INTO THE EVENING. I LOVE TO SMELL IT ON MY PILLOW WHEN I WAKE THE NEXT MORNING.

  • AIMEE09/24/2007

I wore this on my first date with a guy in college who later became my husband--we are still married. That was back in May of 78. I don't wear this scent regularly today but it will always hold a place in my heart.

  • DANA09/20/2007

I wore this scent on my wedding day. I'm very particular about the scents I wear, it must smell absolutely fabulous on me or I won't wear it. I found White Linen the day before my wedding when I was searching for a light, long lasting fragrance that wasn't cheap smelling, and I came across this one just in time! It mixes with my personal chemistry so well it's frightening. My husband loves it, so I can always count on him buying me a new bottle when I run out.

  • LORNA09/03/2007

My favourite of all the Estee Lauder perfumes. Its a must buy for me!!

  • ANGIE08/05/2007

I never liked White Linen, I don't want to smell like I just stepped out of a shower, all day long, that to me is not attractive, but whatever turns you on. I do agree that with Linda, that I think people get confused with something that may smell "more classic" or more "sophisticated" with smelling like an old lady. That is ridiculous. My mom is 84, and wears perfume that I buy for myself, and then decide to give to her. Just because you don't smell like fruit or candy doesn't mean you smell "old".

  • LINDA W06/06/2007

I love this scent it is so different from all the others. Yes it has a soapy smell but to me it smells clean and there is nothing wrong with that! I will keep on wearing it as long as they make it. And to all of you little girls who say it smells like old women I say growup nothing smells like old women that is so stupid! Just because it came out years ago doesn't mean it smells old after all the women who bought it then were not old they were as young if not younger than you at the time. So drop the old woman bit I for one am sick of reading that stupid remark! And remember we will all be old women some day, you are so disrespectful!

  • BLONDIE03/18/2007

On the right person this is just the most delightful thing ever. Got a whiff the other day.. may have to revisit.

  • DOLLY DAGGER03/01/2007

White Linen usually gets very good reviews on most perfume forums, but I for the life of me, don't see why. I know perfume is subjective, but this fragrance smells kind of soapy. My sister used to wear this decades ago, and she was only 20 at the time, and I thought this scent was too mature for her. It's too plain for me, not exciting or something I would want to smell like but if you do, then enjoy.

  • JULIETTE12/12/2006

This scent I think is very hard for many women to wear. It is clean, fresh and yet somehow spicy...I get a lot of compliments on it. When I put it on...it is very strong, an hour or so later, it becomes very soft...elegant. A truly elegant scent...

  • MS. WADE11/16/2006

Have loved this one forever. Clean smell. Enjoy it layered with body lotion and bath powder. Never get tired of it.

  • CHERYL M. 10/29/2006

I just purchased this because I caught a whiff of it on someone while shopping and had to ask her what is was it smelled so wonderful. I went out and bought it right away... When first applied it smells similar to Pleasures which I don't care for on me but like on others but after it settled on my skin it smelled great on me I was pleasantly surprised and it didn't fade away I could even smell it the next day so I will wear this one and see if I get compiments that will be the true test if a fragrance is MY SCENT!!!

  • BLONDIE10/03/2006

Tried it again recently and agree with other post that it has changed. I thought it was me but I really think this scent like so many others now has been tampered with. Why are so many companies doing that now. Are they adding ingredients that are cheaper? Don't understand this. Too bad.

  • CHARLOTTE08/13/2006

I was a little unsure about this one at first but it has grown on me especially as a summer scent. I do wish though that EL would stop doing all these different versions of the same scents. It gets confusing. There are like, four different Pleasures now and they are not really all that alike. Have they run out of imagination for the names? Now we also have Youth Dew Amber Nude which I happen to love, and since it does really smell much like the original, guess they had to call it that. Why doesn't Tom Ford just do his own perfume? Or has he? Don't know. I'm sure it would be great whatever he did. Hope the next one they come out with will be totally original. Don't think they've done one since Beyond Paradise. Love Pure White Linen though. But I don't find it to be anything at all like the original.

  • CHRISTOBELLE08/05/2006

oh disapointment. smells like everything else on the market nowadays. I was hoping the new Pure White Linen would be like the original, but without the chemically smell. I used to love White Linen, but there is a chemical note in it that doesnt agree with me anymore...... but the New PURE WHITE LINEN is so not it!!

  • REBECCA07/20/2006

My review is for the new pure white linen, as I don't really love the original scent. You can try this one for free also! There is a free voucher in the august issue of marie claire magazine for a deluxe purse spray. It's fresh and luminous, and perfect for any day. Really a good one for estee lauder!

  • MARIE07/07/2006

and old lady's perfume, but does not fit an old lady. Awful also when a young woman wears it.

  • NJ05/22/2006

I've been wearing this scent for .... 27 years. I started wearing it after I had my son and was looking for a clean fresh fragrance - I still get compliments on the scent and I also do strongly believe that not all fragrances smell the same on everyone. I know several women who have tried it with negative results. Could be the amount of acid in the skin....Whatever the reason, I use it everyday - My grown children smell White Linen and think MOM - I still love the scent every time I spray it.

  • CK04/28/2006

I posted a message a couple of years ago about the "trio set" that Estee Lauder had. I can't still remember the scents, but I stand corrected on one of them. One I think was "celadon" I believe. Does anyone out there know or can recall this from the 70's? Please post if you do.

  • CON04/20/2006

Has anyone tried the new one? This is supposed to be a fruity floral. I'm wondering if if lasts or not?

  • LIZ04/18/2006

I too like fragrances that are fresh and clean and nothing against you true blue white linen folks, but I agree white linen doesn't smell fresh and clean to my nose, just sharp and weird. So, Diane, here are some good fresh clean fragrances: Mariella Burani -- in my opinion, what White Linen would like to be; eau de givenchy -- watery fresh clean; eau d'issey -- similar to givenchy, l'interdit -- fresh clean and sophisticated; oxygene -- fresh, clean with a little spice and a little rose; bulgari blv -- also interesting and with a little spice. Enjoy!

  • JOHN03/01/2006

White Linen smeels like an older woman's scent. I would but this for my Grandma if she were still alive.

  • JUICY02/28/2006

Wonderful clean refreshing smell! Smells like you just stepped out of the shower!

  • PERFUME PERSON02/18/2006

If you can wear this one consider yourself lucky. It is a long lasting clean smell if you have the chemistry. If not, forget it. I've been wearing this on and off since the early 80s and I always get compliments. Body cream and lotion are great.

  • DIANE01/21/2006

I want to smell like fresh washen linen, but this perfume does not make me feel that way. I cant really make the association when I smell it. I can see how others may have more luck. I just cant get to the point with this perfume where I can say Wow, I love it, it makes me smell really clean. Too bad!

  • LADYBUG12/16/2005

I usually like light clean scents, but this one has a distinct "Sprite" smell. Not the thing I want to wear (at least not on purpose!)

  • ROXOLANA10/30/2005

It doesn't smell bad, but very strong and more like for as a room freshener. I couldn't imagine wearing it on me.

  • C.A.10/28/2005

A new classic fragrance. It's been my choice for over 20 years. I've always been told it smells wonderful onme. Personal chemistry has a lot to do with the wearing of any fragrance.

  • KATHY10/19/2005

I read a post where one said, this smelled like soap. I wish I could of been that lucky! I couldn't get past the sharp and bitter alcohol scent. I tested it in the store before buying and went back and bought. I can't believe how different the tester was from what I brought home. Just horrible! Strong lingering bitter scent, then gradually fades to a very weak bitter scent. Complete waste of money!!

  • SUE C08/05/2005

I like this scent on others, but on me it smells sharp and salty. If you want a crisp clean fragrance but also find this one too sharp, try Cerruti 1881, which has top & middle notes of fleur de lin which is the scent of fresh linen.

  • BJ05/13/2005

I've been wearing this fragrance for at least five years now. I can't tell you how many times people made a point to ask me what perfume I was wearing - received numerous compliments. I wonder if perhaps a person's chemistry can change the fragrance sometimes. I love it!

  • BJ05/13/2005

I've been wearing this fragrance for at least five years now. I can't tell you how many times people made a point to ask me what perfume I was wearing - received numerous compliments. I wonder if perhaps a person's chemistry can change the fragrance sometimes. I love it!

  • OLIVIA03/23/2005

I wanted to like it and bought a 90 ml bottle. So unfortunately it smells like soap! The notes should be floral, but the impression of soap is strong. I tried it several times and asked my friends about their opinions, they all said it smelled like soap! In the end I gave it to a girlfriend who has a tight budget to buy perfumes. But even she accepted it reluctantly, the reason, again: it smells like soap! And that's not a compliment in our culture.

  • SAL03/01/2005

I've loved this scent from the day it went up for sale. Just the name sounds clean, crisp, and elegant. It's very strong, so a little goes a long way, can't emphasize this enough. I like it because it's sharp, sort of astringent, not at all flowery, and I think that's rare in a perfume, one is constantly buried under a bank of flowers. Give me clean crisp old fashioned White Linen any day, because I don't want to smell like a pear, banana, kiwi fruit, orange peel, or some cheap purple flower they found growing alongside the road!

  • TUESDAYS MOM02/25/2005

I thought as a child...now have put aside childish ways...can't believe this used to be my favorite! My how I've grown!

  • CHRISTINA02/02/2005

still think this is unique. doesn't smell like all the other stuff out there. I wore it for a number of years and for some reason it smells kinda old fashioned to me. okay, call it a classic if it makes you feel better. I class it with L'Air du Temps & Chanel No5. All beautiful, all unique, and all smell a bit old fashioned to me.

  • LISA H01/24/2005

Very strong and biting scent. I'm not adverse to a strong scent if used sparingly, but I cannot get used to this one!

  • LIZ12/27/2004

Love this fragrance. Rediscovered it recently, it is very fresh and clean smelling. It is a great fragrance for all year round. I want to buy the lotion and bath powder.

  • GROUPLADY200012/23/2004

Have been wearing this sinc ecame on market. body cream best and most lingering of line. Economical, don't need a lot.

  • LOUISE12/08/2004

I love White Linen and have used it since it first came on the market. The only problem is that I have trouble getting the body creme in the large jar. Please keep it available.

  • CASSANDRA JOHNSON10/30/2004

One unique way of wearing White Linen is to shower, put on a layer of Skin So Soft body oil by Avon, and spray on White Linen. I knew this young lady I worked with and she smelled absolutely amazing. It has a very clean smell to it with a lingering scent...........................

  • ROSE09/26/2004

For some reason, I personally don't like this perfume. Too strong/pungent for my taste I guess. But it is the only perfume I've ever worn that a man has said smelled great, plus the bottle I got for Christmas my dad picked out for me, so men must like it.

  • QUEENBASILIKA09/07/2004

I found this perfume 15 years ago, it's strong so you have to wear a little of this scent.By the way the truth is that don't smell nice in all skins.

  • LIZ08/26/2004

if you want to smell like fresh crisp linen, try Lanvin's Oxygene, or Blumarine, Givenchy's L'interdit is also very clean and crisp. Estee's Beyond Paradise is ok but basically a stronger louder version of Givenchy's Simply Irresistible

  • CHRISSY07/22/2004

I actually purchased this and returned it. At first it dried down to a powdery scent. But then on the way home and as the evening progressed..I got a terrible headache. Just not for me. This is strong stuff..use with caution and aspirin.

  • LIZ06/24/2004

I agree with all you naysayers, this stuff just smells strong and weird, not pretty, not feminine, just odd. like most of the estee lauder fragrances it packs a punch, that's not a compliment.

  • CK06/24/2004

Does anybody remember when this fragrance was part of a trio? Yes, as a young perfume-junkie teenager, I remember that this was a trio of scents. If I can recall, one was "Cedar" and I can't remember the other. So I guess White Linen won! I love Estee Lauder fragrances, they definitely make a statment!

  • MOM05/18/2004

Nice soapy drydown...fresh, comforting. Parfum spray is better than EDP. Best to use after applying WL body lotion/creme.

  • CHLOE04/29/2004

I like this soft, clean, classic scent. OK, so it's not the most modern one out there, but there's something endearing about it.

  • JO04/29/2004

I love this in the summer. On me its just the nicest fresh scent. Like I just had a bath in really fine soap.

  • TAMAR03/31/2004

Started off WAY too strong and smelling like Knowing - overpowering honeysuckle. After an hour or two all that heaviness lifted and instead came sheer fresh gentleness like clean green soapy smell. Certainly has quality and is not like the common watery/friuty stuff produced nowdays.

  • KIM03/06/2004

I have used this fragrance for over 20 years and still love it. When I wear it I get compliments all the time. It may not be for everyone, but I hope Estee Lauder continues to make this one.

  • MATT02/06/2004

I fell in love with a beautiful woman who wore white linen and smelling it brings back those special memories when my wife and I first met.

  • LOUISE02/06/2004

This does NOT smell like it used to. I know lots of people who wore White Linen in the late 80's/early 90's and it was much different than what EL is making now. Anyway, if you like how WL USED to smell, try Lancome's Miracle. It smells very similar to me.

  • SHENNA 01/09/2004

It smells like sea breeze, which you can't find in other perfume

  • MR. EXCELLENT01/01/2004

WHITE LINEN: ALONG WITH BAGGED BANANAS, DRIED APRICOTS, AND A NICE BIG BOWL OF BREAKFAST PRUNES, NOTHING SCREAMS "OLD LADY" MORE THEN THIS HORRID VILE OF LIQUID FECAL SLUDGE. THIS IS AWFUL. IT IS BAD ENOUGH THAT BETTER SMELLING STUFF DROPS FROM MY DOG'S BEHIND AFTER A MEAL OF MICROWAVED SPICY PIZZA SNACKS AND RAISIN SAUCE, BUT IT IS ALSO ONE OF THE STRONGEST PERFUMES AROUND. HOW THIS STUFF WAS EVER POPULAR IS BAFFLING!

  • SARAH11/18/2003

My sister got very addicted to this during her yuppy period, at which time she began bestowing it to other female family members at every gift giving opportunity. I was only in high school at the time, but I recall that this scent seemed to mix with every surrounding odor in the most unappealing way. To this day, if I smell it on someone's coat or in their hair, the first word that comes to mind is miasmic

  • CYNTH10/07/2003

HMMMmmm...This one must be tough. The first time I smelled White Linen it was worn by an older woman and it smelled so nasty I asked her what she was wearing to make sure I never bought it...but then I got it in a collection of Estee Lauder parfums and I tried it a few times and now I love it. It smells like roses on me, after awhile. But, on some people it smells "off", or sour, or like a tin of ancient talcum powder. This one must be tried before it's bought.

  • CATASTROPHE09/04/2003

odd. It smelled like burning leaves to me.

  • DREA09/01/2003

I agree with Dawn.... I used to love Beautiful, bought it a couple of months ago... and was so dissapointed! Did not smell the same at all!!! had a weird (old product... as in lost it's shelf life) smell to it. Why do companies mess with a good thing???

  • ESTEE LAUDER06/29/2003

    horriblely plain water

  • JOY05/07/2003

I used to like this scent many years ago, but now I don't anymore and I don't know why. It's a parculiar scent, at least something in it smells strange......

  • MELANIE02/25/2003

Can someone please, please tell me who in their right mind would wear a fragrance like this? This stuff is way too strong for me!!!

  • QUEEN ANDREA12/20/2002

I like this scent anyway, but it smells really nice on a cold night. Wondeful for fall and winter.

...And personal tastes sure vary! I decided to sample W.L in a store, the other day,and on me,it just reeked, something awful! But since I had made other Estee Lauder purchases,I received a W.L candle as a free gift.Stupid me,not quite satisfied with my previous failure,I decided to light the candle when I got home...Then my husband walked in,took one whif, started wheezing and got very upset. So I threw the candle away.Later on,after he had recovered the use of his lungs,he said:"Are you mad at me??Are you trying to kill me?This stuff is the worst most vile smelling thing in the world,it's a health hazard, don't ever use it again,PLEASE,it stinks,it's awful,I can't stand it!!!" The next day,I was in line at the bank, and something smelled fantastic. It was light, fresh, herbal, clean, soft and lingering,MMMMMMM...Then I realized it was the woman in front of me.I asked her what fragrance she was wearing, and sure enough, she said "White Linen".Just my bloody luck.

White Linen is one of those fragrances I aways go back to every couple of years. It's very unique and the drydown smells great on the right person. My only critique is that the top notes-which soften with time- are overpoweringly aldehydic and citrusy.

  • BETHANY10/20/2002

I don't know how this is Supposed to smell or if the formula has been changed. I only know that with my body chemistry it smells strong, antiseptic and sour. Nope...

  • DAWN10/08/2002

I have worn this as my summer fragrance since 1982 but the last two bottles I bought smelled awful and nothing like what I was used to wearing. The same thing happened with Beautiful and I'm wondering if Estee Lauder has somehow tampered with the original recipe for these two favorites. I'm really sorry White Linen has changed so much because I used to absolutely love this scent.

  • ALLISON07/26/2002

P.U. Smells horrible, like prissy old ladies. I wouldn't wear this if you payed me.

  • MAYA07/23/2002

Someone gave me a White Linen scented candle a while back. I lit it,and within ten minutes my poor husband's eyes started to water and then he started to wheeze! Needless to say I've stayed away from this one since then...

  • LORI07/10/2002

I like this fragrance a lot. I like a clean, almost soap smell and this is nice. I was concerned buying it at first as I thought it was too old for me, but if I go easy (like I have to do with Chanel perfumes) I think it is sexy! : )

  • BARBARA 05/14/2002

I have used this on and off since it first came out.I still love it!To me it smells "Sharp and Clean"alittle does go a long way so use caution!

  • JAZ03/29/2002

This perfume lasts very well on my skin, most perfumes fade away on me in minutes. The scent is nothing special, very subtle, soft scent...the name says it all. But sometimes whenever I put it on..it makes me feel sick. It also seems to be a very common scent, my friend etc have them and I noticed they don't smell that good.

  • FANI03/20/2002

I got this perfume from a friend who didn't like it. After using it for a week I gave it to my mother. The smell was way too harsh for me and it kind of reminds me of my teacher in first grade. I believe it's very old fashioned and you have to like that special style to wear it. My boyfriend hates it too: he asked me to give it away as soon as possible or he would throw it to the garbage!

  • LAURA03/07/2002

I wear this one only during warm weather, but it was one of the first perfumes I bought for myself (back in high school). I like it because it's soft, strong, sexy, and fresh all at once. I do think it tends to react strongly with one's own body chemistry and on some women, it is not a very attractive fragrance--almost sharp and sour. And, like most Estee Lauder fragrances, a little goes a long way--it's easy to overdo it with this perfume.

  • LORI03/01/2002

I love this fragrance- it smells clean and fresh

  • MAGGIEMAE02/17/2002

People who wear this fragrance have a heavy hand. JMHO.

  • MARTA01/11/2002

Well made, but too strong and sharp. Not sweet at all. If you hate sweet, try White Linen. If you've tried White Linen and found it too aldehydic and pugent, try Chanel No. 22...It's got the sparkling white flowers thing going on but it's a bit more refined and not so in your face.

  • AMY V12/29/2001

Dont get this on too heavy. It smells very pretty if you have the right chemistry and not as good on some people. I love this sprayed on light and I think its a classic. Who ever said it smelled like urine probably smelled it on someone it clashed with!

  • ANNA12/03/2001

It's so elegant. You are so elegant when you wear it!

  • EMILY GOFF10/29/2001

I love the smell of White Linen on everyone. I can pick it out of a crowd, yet when I wear it, it smells like Play-doh. It is horrible!

  • STELLA10/24/2001

LOVE WHITE LINEN/WHITE LINE BREEZE. WILL NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE.

  • CLAIRE10/12/2001

Loved this perfume...nothing comes close to it. It's a classic.

  • KRIS09/25/2001

For some reason White Linen makes me smell stale and sweaty. I think it's sour. I hope it smells better on others -- enough people seem to love it.

  • DIANE09/12/2001

The absolute essence of femininity. So incredibly wonderful. My favorite of all time.

  • JOLENE07/30/2001

White Linen is a very distinctive, unmistakable fragrance. Whenever I wear this, people automatically know that it's White Linen. I just love this clean, airy, aldehydic fragrance. It can be way too strong if you apply too much, though. But if you use it sparingly, it's very light and fresh. This is the perfect Spring/Summer fragrance. Thanks Estee Lauder!

  • KARINA07/22/2001

This is one of my favorite "summer" fragrances. Very classic and fresh-it is a very "green" scent with a lot of aldehydes and synthetics, so the trick is not to overdo it, or it easily can be too strong. It is highly concentrated, however, so there's no need to apply a lot-it lasts forever. Just go lightly with it, and this scent works for just about anyone-it's easy to wear, and tends to smell the same on everyone. Unmistakable once you know the scent-it doesn't even resemble anything else! A great classic from Estee Lauder!

  • BARBARA 07/17/2001

I love White Linnen, especially the body lotion and cream, makes your skin really soft and silky feeling!

  • RUBY07/07/2001

i think there are greens and aldehydes in it

  • ELAINA07/02/2001

I have worn white linen since it was first introduced! yes i am that mature! I will wear it until the day I die and maybe even then. It is so alluring and whimsical to call the feminity out in a woman. It drives a man wild! A must!

  • DEBORAH04/28/2001

I have been wearing this scent for years, and there is nothing else that come close to it. It's light, fresh and clean; not offensive and over powering like you just stepped out of a bordello......

  • PAMELA ANN04/27/2001

I have been wearing White Linen for years. My husband would always buy it for me at Christmas. I love it's light fragrance so much that since the divorce I'm buying it for myself and more often! :)

  • MEGANLOU04/23/2001

This is the scent that I usually wear, especially during nice spring days. It is light and feminine, and lingers on the skin for a long while.

  • JENNIFER03/25/2001

White linen will always be a popular, classic scent because it smells very feminine and it not too strong and smells great on any woman who wears it. A bottle of White Linen is a wonderful gift for yourself or someone else.

  • PHYLLIS03/22/2001

i have used this fragrence for about 15 years and it is my husbands favorite, he always knows what to buy for me, and can count on those wonderful sets put together for special dates. love it.
