I love this fragrance in the toilet water, but not the perfume. It smells good on me as people often ask me what I am wearing and complement it. But, beware, it can change scents with your chemistry very easily.

  • CATHY10/01/2008

I have been wearing Paris since I was a young girl in the 80's. My sister and mother can't stand this scent however. Whenever I try to buy a new scent my husband says "no way!". I think the scent is me to him since I have been wearing it since before I met him!

  • SEXY KITTEN06/06/2008

This was one of my very first real perfumes after graduating from white shoulders and chantilly as a young teen. I loved it then as I love it now. The rose, mimosa and amber combination is FANTASTIC. A warm, embracing scent that's sexy and classy. Suits romantic encounters, times when you wear lingerie and any time you want to feel like a woman. This is not a scent for when you want to lounge in yoga pants. I usually wear different fragrances to work committing to no particular one and this one got the most compliments from both women and men. It's very similar to bvulgari rose essentialle but paris is a bit sweeter, richer and longer lasting.

  • C.C.03/05/2008

Love this stuff. I've been wearing it since the mid to late 80s when it first came out. This one stays with you. Perfect floral scent for any time of the year.

  • BLONDIE12/29/2007

At first blush this seems to be a very simple fragrance. Actually it is probably one of the more sophisitcated scents ever created IMO. I think you need a well developed "nose" to appreciate this one. Somehow, when I smell this, I see Paris in my mind's eye as I would imagine it. Wonderful interpretation. I love this.

  • RCP09/25/2007

This has become my signature scent, I'm sorry it took me 14 years to find it.

  • CAT06/17/2007

so many people around me are literally bathed in this awful stuff it stinks to high heaven i can smell it from miles away. theres something very unpleasant in the ingredients that remind me of overpowdered prostitutes in red light district.

  • CARRIE MEANS06/13/2007

once a former freind left town she told me the scent she always wore now its all mine i love it to death

  • LE NEZ02/09/2007

I think the EDP is the best ever made! This is the definitive French perfume with its rose and violet drama happening within. It is graceful, subtle, and feminine beyond words. It should go down in history as one of the best fragrances ever made. Indeed, I believe it is in the Louvre in the fashion wing!

  • CANDACE DAVIES12/13/2006

I'm so up set that I can't find the refills for my purse size amirage perfume. Any ideaswhere I can buy them?

  • JB10/20/2006

I remember the Fleur de Parfum, It has a more woody, amber smell. It has an all gold colored cap shaped like a rose on the top. I still have a big full 2.5oz bottle of it. It says on the hang tag around the bottles neck that it is a complement to the Paris Eau de Toilette, whatever that means. I used to LOVE Paris, but I dont wear it anymore, I still love the scent though. Also, I do like the Fleur de Parfum better than the Eau de Parfum, its a shame they discontinued it.

  • JEAN09/07/2006

My heart belongs to YSL Paris, and it has become my signature scent! Does anyone remember Paris Fleur de Parfum? I believe it was launched before the EDP. I used it until I could no longer find it.

  • SHEILA09/01/2006

Can anyone help me find YSL Paris dusting talc. I have been searching for it for the past 2 years. I like to layer with Paris shower jel, lotion and and talc. I will be for ever grateful if someone can help. Thanks. Sheila.

  • KATHY Z.08/06/2006

I first bought this scent around 1990. The same year my daughter was born. I loved it then. (I was around 30.) I own a bottle today for nostalgic reasons but rarely wear it. It's just too sweet for me now. My taste in perfume has changed over the years. But I still like having a bottle on hand because of the memories. I find that to be true of quite a few of my perfumes. It's not just the scent but the feelings and memories that go along with it. That's what I love about it. The abitilty of a scent to transport you to another place and time. And for this reason this scent will always mean a lot to me. If you love sweet florals, give this one a try.

  • ANGELIQUE05/24/2006

One of my faves. This is the the kind of scent you wear on a romantic stroll with your beau. It can be described as nothing but feminine. I'm not the best with perfume descriptions but I would describe it as warm, slightly sweet and flowery. Best worn in the summer. Although I don't wear it as much now I am never without a bottle on my dresser.

  • JAN04/15/2006

I was standing in a long line outside a theater in Calif. on a lovely evening waiting to go in. A young man walking past the line, stopped and said, "Someone is wearing Paris." While I prefer something that is not so recognizable, (ie. Bandit) it was a fun moment anyway. I would rather have people "ask" me what I am wearing rather than to "tell" me. I like something unusual and hard to find. Paris is available everywhere, Walmar, drugstores, etc. That's okay, it does smell nice, just a bit too too common for me.

  • BETT1E04/08/2006

Paris by YSL reminded me of faded roses and baby powder, locked in a small room with bad ventilation === I just used the review of the above posted message since it states the problem with this perfume so well and I paid $70.00 for it.

  • KATHY03/27/2006

It is a shame that this fragrance smells so pretty at first, then fades away to practically nothing. I wish there was more perfume and LESS WATER in this bottle. It isn't that cheap, but has the staying power of cheap after bath splash. What a disappoinment, this could of been one of my favorites.

  • PIA03/13/2006

The drydown of the lovely Paris has light notes of sambac jasmine and green tea, similar to Bulgari Femme. Both beautiful fragrances!

  • PAZZO03/11/2006

there is a new version of paris - Eau de Printemps Paris by Yves Saint Laurent.A world of gentleness in this pink and limpid eau designed for the early days of spring. For its first rendezvous with all the "Parisians" of the world, the fragrance sports a made-to-order dress: a facetted glass flacon with pale pink hues and a lighter bouquet at 5 %. The rose note is still present, but toned down by notes of lily, violet, mimosa and orange blossom and it slowly gives way to sandalwood, vetiver and musk. Bask in the happiness of those promising days and enjoy the rose trail. L'eau de printemps is a limited edition. The original is still available.I bought it recently.

  • LEE ANN03/02/2006

Why would you think they change the original formula? I wear Paris and it smells the same as it always has and I have worn it for 20 years too.

  • MAGGIE 02/27/2006

Why on earth did they change the original formula? I've been wearing Paris perfume for almost twenty years! I don't like the new one! Please tell me if there's any of the original left somewhere, if there is I will buy it!

  • PAZZO02/20/2006

Is there any similarity between paris and stella since they both have amber and rose notes.I love stella and was wondering whether it is similar to paris.

  • RAJUL02/19/2006

this is a classy fragrance but i happen to have dry skin and so this does nothing for me. its too powdery and mild..... i usually like a perfume that is sexier with more impact......chypre scents i think are my best bet !!

  • KATHY02/06/2006

I smelled this for the first time a few weeks ago and it is just a beautiflu scent. Will have to order some of this!!

  • GREEKGIRL02/02/2006

This perfume is what a true french perfume should smell like also reminds me a little of Yvresse I dont know why cos they have different notes but i like them both.

  • PERFUME-AHOLIC12/22/2005

I took a sniff of this at the counter the other day after reading the many positive postings here. If you are looking for a nice, fresh, clean and non overbearing scent, this might be the one for you. Lovely and feminine. Want a nice evening fragrance that is more bold and daring? Try Cinema. It's an exotic blend of vanilla and spices. A pick-me-up and let's dance fragrance.

  • AMY11/27/2005

i have both paris and bvlgari pour femme and i have to say i like bvlgari slightly better. Hard to describe it but i find that paris is too strong. i'm leaning more towards bvlgari perfumes in general even though ysl has lots of fab frangrances(i also have Nu which is good)

  • MARC10/15/2005

It stinks. Gives me a headache and you don't need to be too near the wearer.

  • SUE C08/05/2005

Paris is a beautiful classic that is so popular that it can be worn by feminine women of any age - enjoy its capacity to make you feel youthful and vibrant. Paris was the first creation by perfumer Sophia Grosjman, who also created Jaipur, Eternity, Yvresse, Tresor, Lalique, White Diamonds and others. Paris's top notes are mimosa, geranium, hawthorn & cassie, middle notes Damascus rose, violet and orris, lower notes sandalwood, amber and musk. Whilst associated with roses it is actually a floral bouquet. I love the limited editions that YSL release in spring - I have Paris Roses de Bois which I like even more than the original. If you like florals reminiscent of violets, try Le Dix by Balenciaga. Meanwhile, continue to enjoy Paris!

  • IRINA07/18/2005

I like both parfums, Bvlgari for femme and Paris. Both of them smell violets. Would you distinguish them?

  • DOODS06/17/2005

This is definitely one of my faves. Starts as a flowery (rosey) scent and ends in a powdery, long-lasting smell. I love this one by YSL.

  • AIMEE05/25/2005

This is a very romantic, well made scent. The quality is obvious. It's light but has staying power. Leaves just the right trail of fragrance.

  • REBECCA05/13/2005

I haven't worn this yet, but a salesgirl that helped me a few weeks back really loved this. It brought back alot of memories for her and she said it smells the same as she remembered. I think it's one of those that makes you feel good and feminine. I'm going to try it out. And no not all perfumes created in the 80's are bad. You can't knock out a whole decade of perfume, it has it's place.

  • I am 43 Yrs old & 4 Yrs ago my mother gave me this perfume for the 1st time ever.. I had never smelled anything like it. The scent was mesmerizing to me & WITHOUT fail every single time I wear it I get ask the same questions "What is that scent your wearing"? I LOVEEE this scent & to me it's the definition of Feminine! My husband loves to really snuggle close when I wear this scent..I might run out of other perfumes but NEVER this one!!! It IS by far his favorite & mine also..I'll ALWAYS keep this in my collection..Excellent price also.

  • NINA03/31/2005

Paris by YSL reminded me of faded roses and baby powder, locked in a small room with bad ventilation.

  • CLAIRE03/28/2005

From the first whiff of this scent, three years ago, I've worn nothing else since. I still brouse through the perfumes at the department stores, but haven't found anything that makes me feel so good about who I am when i'm wearing it. It sounds corny, I know, but this scent is so beautiful, it makes me FEEL happy and beautiful when I'm wearing it.

  • PERFUME AFICIONADO03/23/2005

I first wore this scent in 1993 and have kept it on my vanity tray ever since. I love it!

  • NEL03/09/2005

I just bought Paris and i love it, it is a soft lovely fragrance. Great for summer or winter, I think it's great for all ages, all depend's what you prefer.

  • SAL03/07/2005

Never say you're "too old" for a fragrance! I'm waaaay old (well, in my 50's) and I hunted down and purchased a couple of perfumes from when I was a teenager. Never happier! That said, I think you can't go wrong with the classics, I like Chanel No 5 and Coco. I think one should wear a fragrance that makes one, well, happy. My winter favorite is Crabtree & Evelyn's Nantucket Briar, it smells just like incense and lasts forever.

  • LOUISE02/14/2005

These are some suggestions you might want to consider since you listed some floral and floral-oriental fragrances you enjoy, and since you gave Paris high marks. You may or may not like these, of course, but here they are: Have you tried Gianfranco Ferre 20? To me, it's one of the most under-known but lovely fragrances for women. Also, since you consider Paris to be rather youthful for yourself, have you considered one of the older, more sophisticated fragrances such as Arpege or Nuit de Noel? Eclat d'Arpege is a newer offering from the House of Lanvin, though you may consider it to be a "younger" fragrance. What about Amarige? A little goes a long ways, but my nose considers it to be a very nice fragrance. Happy sampling and best wishes!!

  • FLEUR02/03/2005

...love the way Paris reveals itself slowly, smoothly and elegantly , and finishes with a warm, spicy, woody beauty that still lingers many, many hours later on me, my clothes, and even the room in which I applied it. BUT, as much as I adore it, I feel that I'm too old for it now. Can someone suggest something else for me? Some of my other favourites are Volupte, Patou 1,000, Ferre (White box) and Ultraviolet. Thanks.

  • ANN02/02/2005

I bought this in France in 1983 and used to enjoy it. Then I stopped wearing it. Today I tried it again in a perfume shop and find it too intense for me now. Guess my taste in perfume has changed over the years.

  • MIKEYROSE01/31/2005

smelled great at first, by the end of the day, it smelled awful on me. will give it away.

  • SHARRIE01/30/2005

viva la paris. long live the strong anmd bold. awesome. tender nights in fantasy land. wonderful.

  • VALERIE D01/23/2005

I LOVE THIS SCENT, IT SMELLS LIKE FRESH GUMMY BEARS, NOT THE KIND AT THE CONVENIENCE STORE, THE KIND IMPORTED FROM GERMANY! YUMMM

  • STEPHANIE01/13/2005

Will someone please close the cedar chest? I'm missing something here because my nose picks up dry sawdust with this fragrance. Overpowering, oppressive and offensive to me - one woman's opinion only!

  • PERFUME LOVER12/24/2004

I ALSO LOVE PARIS, SOME OF YOU SAY THAT IT SMELLS LIKE ROSES. I THINK YOU MUST BE TALKING ABOUT THE ( PARIS ROSES DES BOIS ) A 2004 LIMITED EDITION OF YSL. THE ORIGINAL SMELLS MUCH BETTER.

  • BUSRA11/28/2004

The only thing i can say about this is: BUY IT!!!!

  • SHANNON11/21/2004

I am 19 and I love this fragrance. Most of us young ones seem to go for the light and breezy scents but I am an avid fan of the classics such as chanel 5, escada, spellbound, chloe narcisse and in no way am I boring and old fashioned :) I get so many comments on these types of fragrances

  • JOSIE11/18/2004

A lovely sparkling rose that gathers compliments and comments such as "You smell like a rose garden." It's elegant, classic, and special. I prefer the edt, because fragrances smell very strong on me. I feel the edt is more sparkling, and less of a rose soliflore.

  • MONICA11/06/2004

I own the limited editions "Premieres Roses" 2003 and "Roses des bois"2004 and i have to say they're really really yummyyy!!! Let's try them. I'm waiting for the new limited edition 2005.Kisses to all of you perfume lovers (like me!).

  • DANA09/23/2004

I have been wearing this fragrance since high school. And just lately I have come to appreciate it! It smells wonderful, even to the point where I have had strangers asking me what do I have on!

  • KATIELLE09/22/2004

Boy, you must have gotten a bad bottle because Paris is about as far away from pickle juice that you could get!! Sample some in a store sometime and you'll be pleasantly surprised. And if it still doesn't do anything for you, see if you can find their limited edition "Premieres Roses". It's a lighter version and is yummy!

  • CINDIE09/16/2004

Honestly, I thought this smelled like pickle juice, so I gave it away to someone who loved it. Maybe she will have better luck with it.

  • STEPHANIE09/01/2004

This is a very sophisticated and beautiful scent. If you're not sure you like it at first, give it a little while, it has a very beautiful dry down.

  • BITTEBETT06/09/2004

Im am getting so many compliments when wearing this lovely scent. Have a very sensitive nose and this perfume is just perfect. Love to all of you.

  • KATIELLE06/04/2004

I agree with Rainfairie; I wore this in the late '80's when I was in my 20's, and I didn't think it was an older scent at all. Men LOVE it! No matter what the age. It will always be my signature scent, along with Dilys and Calyx as my summer scents. Hmmm, am I stuck in the '80's???

  • MIKA05/15/2004

That no teenager would ever wear Paris doesn't necessaily mean it is not good. Who said teenager tastes are the right or the best ones? Teenagers are in general not considered to be an icon of charme or good taste in the world; fortunately they will learn, but later!

  • MIKA05/13/2004

I am sure Paris is not the kind of scent a teenager would wear. Paris is a classy and smart perfume, very chic. Teenager are not smart, not chic and in general absolutely not classy, save for some very rare exceptions.

  • MARIA05/12/2004

Magnificent, one of the finest fragrances ever created.

  • GINGER04/24/2004

This was my mother scent and I will never have another, it makes me feel good about myself.Strong, free and beautiful.

  • CHRISTINA04/13/2004

I love the way Paris smells initially, really interesting, but after it settles down it smells like candy on me. I did spritz on some Paris Printemps, but only recently tried Paris Bois de Rose (wild rose) NICE, and it didn't change to candy on me. I will definitely have to try it again.

  • SUZANNE04/08/2004

I first smelled Paris when I worked as a cashier at Vanessi's Resturant on Broadway in San Francisco, 'way back in the mid-80's (right down the street fronm Carol Doda's twinkling tit!) There was 6'4" trannie drag queen named BAMBI who used to come in for takeout pasta several times a week. She was an exotic dancer, of course. She was always drenched in Paris perfume. At first I liked it, thought it a nice combo of roses and violets, but found it overpowering after awhile. At any rate, when I smell Paris, I remember ol' Bambi - I wonder what she is up to these days????

  • PATTYCAKES03/17/2004

I just got this perfume a few weeks ago. Smells like roses. Fantastic!

  • RAINFAERIE02/26/2004

...point well-taken about the nostalgia, lol! I was 22 when I wore 'Paris' in the eighties. I don't know whether or not you remember, but 'Vogue' used to have the most fantabulous, beautiful, scented pop-up ads for 'Paris' - it was really the 'in' fragrance for awhile, there.

  • ESIN01/17/2004

when i first used it I liked it a lot.I bought it to my friend.

  • NICOLE01/13/2004

For the others that posted this is old lady stuff, well kind of. Its a rosey-floral, and not many teens or 20 somethings are into that. However, we start to feel a bit nostalgic in our 30's or 40's so maybe its more suitable for that age grp. I like it as a soft romantic daytime scent. Men dont care for roseys as much so dont buy it to impress the man in your life. Honestly they like stuff that smells like food= try something more vanilla based for that!

  • MISCELLANEOUS01/08/2004

Any frangrance is too strong if you use too much. Just spray in the air & walk through it, or use only on pulse points. Paris EDP is better than EDT. People are always telling me how wonderful I smell . . . like I just bathed with very expensive soap.

  • CARLA12/30/2003

Did i forget to mention cheap smelling too?

  • CARLA12/30/2003

The nastiest loudest most disgusting fragrance i've come across, DONT BUY IT, smell like a toilet cleaner my mom used to use in out bathroom, gosh i hate this fragrance

  • RAINFAERIE11/17/2003

Paris is a contemporary floral, unlike 'Ombre Rose' or 'Tea Rose'; Paris is much more complex. As 'Aisha' has said before, not a pure rose scent. In my days at university, I once spent my last few dollars on Paris "to match an outfit" - it was worth every penny!

  • ZEPHYR11/12/2003

I got this perfume several years ago, and I still have a large bottle. I wish I had given it away earlier. It's way too strong. It's the only fragrance that my boyfriend doesn't like me to wear.

  • KIM11/12/2003

Just bought this the other day, at first I didn't think I liked it but after about 1/2 hour or so the fragrances changed on my skin to a softer scent. My boyfriend loved it too!

  • AISHA11/07/2003

Paris used to be my signature scent and though I have more than fifty different perfumes now, I still love it and keep buying it. Very feminine, flowery and romantic, full of scents of roses (not pure roses like Jo Malone, though).

  • JEAN10/31/2003

I love YSL's Paris in the springtime, and all other times!! Viva Paris!!

  • SERENDIPITY10/20/2003

I have to say - the new Stella EDP (Stella McCartney) reminds me somehow of Paris. A prominent note of roses, but softer and more natural than in Paris. A rich floral like Paris, but with a modern 21st century touch. I haven't expect so but I like it. I've always aprecciated the complexity of Paris but I've never wear it, it was too floral for me. But in Stella there are those amber undernotes that softens flowery notes, and I think I could try with this.

  • ANNE10/08/2003

I just want to say that Paris is a really great scent!

  • TWIXIBELLE06/30/2003

I have to say that this is my all-time favourite. I have tried others but I quickly tire of them. Never Paris. Well, Oscar is the only other that cames a VERY close second for me. It is feminine (I am so tired of these new androgynous unisex perfumes), but not cloying and heavy. It is a sparkling classy, feminine scent. Although it is "light", it has complexity with the full range of notes like all good classic perfumes should have. I've had compliments on this from both men and women. Hubby buys it for me. I feel it is "me". I guess that's when you know you've found your signature scent! I agree with whoever said the eau de parfum is the best form to buy it in. I am sure the EDT USED to be stronger, tho maybe I've just got used to it?

  • JOYCIE06/21/2003

Oh I love the scent but even the teeiest bit gives me a headache also and I can't wear it......darn. I chalked the headache up to somethingn else, but it was instantaneous; tried it 3 times: 3 headaches!

  • MARY06/15/2003

I used to wear this when it first came out, but got tired of it quite quickly...don't know why, just don't like it anymore!

  • ANDREA06/10/2003

I adore the fragrance and used it for years, but eventually grew tired of the headaches it would cause me. Even when used just a teensy bit. Always the same thing :-((( Now I use Organza and no problems.

  • ALICIA06/05/2003

has anyone tried the new scent called Premieres Roses, which is a twist on Paris? I saw it in a mag but its already sold out at Sephora. I love Paris so much I'd gladly purchase this one "unsniffed". You can't go wrong w/YSL scents - the best, most feminine ever!

  • JOYCIE06/02/2003

The Eau de toilette is much too light with too much alcohol. There's a big difference with the Eau de Parfum..hard to find but can be found.....big difference. Paris Eau de Parum is florally beautiful [just the right amount].

  • JOY05/27/2003

Could this be a different version, or just light to me? Does is come in EDP instead of EDT. Opium is heavy in EDT but Paris is too light, but it is beautiful.

  • JOY05/22/2003

Some fragrences are around many years and have staying power; that does not mean 'old lady' smells. You are used to chemical smells from the newer scents and just don't get it.

  • JEAN05/18/2003

My 5 stars go to this beautiful scent! Paris is a treasure, and I'll always wear it!

  • TALIA05/17/2003

First: this is not an "old lady smell" but you have to know how to use it. This is a faboulous and high quality fragrance with great ingredients... And the second thing: there is a new limited edition out there, EDT and a wonderful body lotion, more up-to-date, with a nice scent of roses, a great springtime scent!

  • MURKI05/16/2003

Smelled exactly like a vial of perfume my grandfather gave me from Eastern Europe, so I wore this for a long while. Don't anymore, a bit too many violets.

  • AURELIE05/12/2003

(sigh...) A rather non descriptive way of putting it! I guess I will have to put on my walking shoes and go around town sniffing older women so I can figure out what this fragrance smells like.

  • ANN05/07/2003

This stuff is way too strong and powdery..smells like an old lady.

  • NICO05/01/2003

Delicate. Charming. Very smart and classy.

  • CK04/18/2003

Versace Ethereal is another great violet infused scent.

  • APRIL04/18/2003

Fell in love with Paris when my daughter was a baby so this has only happy memories for me...Pretty Perfume...has rose...violet...mimosa...says Spring flowers...adore Paris!

  • VICE VERSA04/05/2003

perfume with heart on the top is called vice versa

  • ELLY04/05/2003

I can' wear it every day, so it is not my signature scent, but there is something special in this perfume. Only YSL was able to make something so fine, ellegant and sophisticated like this. Othervise I don't like floral perfumes at all. Paris is one of those old perfumes of very high quality, unlike todays trendy cheap scents for one season.

  • MARIA03/06/2003

    THE BEST PERFUME EVER...

  • FLORENCE03/03/2003

I spent a lot of money buying this at a dept store and can't wait to give it away as a gift. Really turns me off with it's strong scent. Much to overpowering. looking at the message board I see that I am in the minority.

  • LINA02/12/2003

Elegant, but don't put too much, this is the MUST with this perfume... Excellent staying power, very longlasting. Roses with a hint of powdery notes... a "springtime" perfume. Zale - I haven't seen the pure perfume, only EDT and EDP. Sophia Grojsman who created Paris for YSL in 80-ties, created ten years later Lancome's Tresor.

  • ZALE01/27/2003

I'm not sure if it this one comes in parfum format. If it did maybe it's been discontinued. Sometimes I wish for the same thing! Give the real parfum not the weakened eau de toilette! For years I've been searching for Calandre parfum all over the place too!

  • CAROL01/23/2003

Can anyone out there help me find a site to purchase the actual perfume? not Eau de anything!! I have been looking for ages for Paris "parfum" for Galanos' parfum and BY parfum? ANy suggestions? Does anyone use a site that ships from Paris? Please take pity on me and advise. Of course, I could pay top dollar at Saks,Nordstrom, etc. but I am not in the easy money category...HELP!!!

  • TAMAR01/15/2003

Smells too much like talcum powder and possibly more of an older woman smell.

  • ZALE01/10/2003

Very rosey fragrance when you first spray it, but the dry-down is very sophisticated. One of mom's favorites!

  • PIERRE01/06/2003

Paris is my moms favorite perfume, and I adore this perfume for that..,Love ya mom

  • ANGELA01/05/2003

I am one of those women who wears certain fragrances in winter and others in the summer. So I wait until the first cool, autumn day to break out the PARIS and I usually wear just the body lotion or cream for day and it lasts all day. I have actually had women stop me and ask what I am wearing. I've been wearing it since it was first introduced and I just never get tired of it...it smells so wonderful on the clothes you've worn all day and put away because the scent lingers so beautifully.

  • KATHLEEN01/03/2003

    Pretty...Smells like roses and spring...

  • BETH12/20/2002

I really like this one. I know everyones' perception of fragrances differ, but I especially smell roses in this. Very light and not heavy at all.

  • LOLA11/27/2002

Thanks,Andrea! I just looooove perfume, and its ability to soothe or revolt me.I love writing about it,I love reading about it,it's just so emotional and human, what can I say...Take care!

  • ANDREA11/25/2002

Thanks Lola! 5 stars for your nice words! Fragrances are something so personal and intimate... I like to read your messages.

  • SAUCY CARBON11/16/2002

At first instant it smells interesting and then, as it dries, you realize that it smells like a granny and potpourri and really bad room deodorizer. The heavy flowery smell is not for the weak-stomached. Bleh. Go for Baby Doll instead.

  • MARIE11/08/2002

Wore this for years and will again and alternate with Babydoll. Love them both. Unbelievable to me that this is the same house that assaults the senses with the that Opium stinker.

  • DEE11/07/2002

This scent is very unique. Classy, luxurious, sexy...the boys luuuv it!

  • LOLA10/02/2002

Last year a young ballet student of mine lost her foster mother in a car crash. She was devastated,as the too of them were very close.I watched her,for months, emotionally crippled, frozen in shock and unable to process the loss. She had stopped talking, lost way too much weight and the natural grace and flow she demonstrated in my studio had become robotic, cold and emprisoned in a wall of mute pain. One day I gave her a ride home. While she went to take a shower I decided to make some tea to warm her up.Not knowing my way around her home, I mistakenly entered her foster mom's bedroom, where everything had been left intact,as if the woman was going to come in anytime. The scent of Paris was still lingering in the air.I picked up a scarf from the bed,and at that moment my student walked in.I gave her a hug,and slowly brought the scarf to her face. She inhaled deeply and collapsed in my arms, finally releasing months of repressed tears. She spent a whole week with me,wracked with sobs, letting the grief wash through her. At the end of the week, she asked me to help her move her things into her foster mom's room, she wanted to bond with the now unused space and the memories. She now wears only Paris, has a million pictures of her foster mother all over her house, her car and wallet,a her smile, albeit a bit sad,has returned, along with the ease and fluidity of her dancing. The anniversary of the woman's passing is coming up,so I will get her a huge bottle of Paris, along with the whole line of bath and body products. We'll celebrate the woman's life and the young ballet dancer's ability to grieve and go on.

  • DENISE09/30/2002

There's an old perfume by Caron called Fleurs de Rocaille, it's very similar to Paris and easier to find. Hope it helps!!!

  • PETRINA08/14/2002

hi, i don't really like the original Paris veyr much, its ok, but too many strong notes, but i find i like the summer version very much.... it says "Springtime Edition" at the bottam of the box, and smells wonderful! Absolutely Addictive!...btw, i love hte violet scent in this perfume, does anyone know of another good violet or violets & roses scent??? thnx!

  • SERITA07/31/2002

Paris smells just like those sweets called Parma Violets. It's such a wonderful fragrance.

  • MELH07/25/2002

I love this scent as a part of my past! It's so sweet and romantic but also fresh and with a woody base. I now use different perfums but this is one of my loved ones!

  • LIZARD07/06/2002

I've worn Paris since 1984, every now and then I go on a hunt for something I like as much. No luck so far. It's an exquisite fragrance

  • ADRIANA06/12/2002

It's me again: I gave the rate 4 out of 5 for the new limited edition Paris-L'Eau de Printemps, but I've changed my mind. It is for pure 5 out of 5, it is wonderful!!!! I've tried it today again (looking for a present for a friend), and I'm exalted how great it is!!! I bought that for present this time, but I'm going to buy it for myself, too, of course. Marvelous, soft, ladylike, elegant, romantic scent...I can't believe it!!!!

  • PATRICIA06/09/2002

I love this scent. Don't care too much for the spray perfume but I love the Toilette. Have received many compliments.

  • ADRIANA06/09/2002

Hi,Ika! I found out the exactly name of this limited edition: "L'Eau de Printemps Paris". It is in a rosee bottle, letters PARIS are silver not golden like on classic Paris. Dominant note is the scent of rose, and than lily of the valey, mimosa and orange flower with base notes of sandalwood, vetiver and musk. It is avaliable, as far as I know, everywhere in Europe. Good luck!

  • IKA06/07/2002

Adriana mentioned something about Paris Rosee lilimed edition. Is there really one? Howcome I couldn't find it here (Indonesia). Where and how could I get one? I'm crazy for Paris...I think I probably will like that Paris Rosee to (?)

  • ADRIANA06/03/2002

New spring-summer limited edition (Paris-Rosee, or something like that - anyway, scent of roses is accentuated) is very nice, soft, romantic... I don't like original Paris very much, but I'll give the chance to this romantic variation for this summer!

  • LISA FARRES06/01/2002

really love this pretty and flowery but not overpowering

  • L.05/29/2002

A strong rose-based perfume; use in moderation, but when you get it right, it's wonderful! Very, very nice.

  • CARLA05/17/2002

Ela, It must be these scents(Anais Anais, Paris) came out when I was a teenager.(I am 30 now) I do like Paris much more then Anais Anais.I think it's lovely for yuong people AS WELL as for more mature people, but I would use it for myself above all in spring and summer. There's a spring edition now, but I think the original is best. I don't like scents like Fendi.I like no 5 in winter, and sweet fresh florals in summer. I must say, I really would buy this for my daughters as well as for myself, but I think I leave all those come-and-go fragrances to the teenagers....

  • IKA05/13/2002

Teens years I've been putting PARIS on my skin. It's my first perfume. I looked for other fragrances but always back to PARIS. Cute yet luxury scent.

  • JAKQUA05/11/2002

Paris has been my standy fragrance for over six years. It is perfect for rainy spring and summer days. It smells just like a rose garden and layered with the lotion, it lasts and lasts, you won't find a more uplifting fragrance!!!!

  • ELA05/07/2002

Paris is amazing. It is fresh enough for the office (2 sprays) and romantic enough for a candlelight dinner or the opera. My mom & sister are also hooked on it and Paris is the only perfume they ask for as a gift. Message to Carla: How old are you? You seem to associate every perfume with youth. All your comments I have seen on this website state something like "for young girls" "for teenagers", etc. I am 30 yrs. old & have been wearing this since it came out in 1983 (18 years). I have yet to outgrow it and is always at the top of my wish list along with Aqua di Gio, Gucci Envy and Perry Ellis 360. You may want to stick with such scents as Fifth Avenue and Fendi if you think scents such as Paris are for "teenagers."

  • LAURA04/04/2002

Has a very nice fragrance, lasts all day!

  • CARLA04/02/2002

beautiful rose scent, musky drydown. I associate it with young girls and summer, somehow not very grown uo. But I think it is very likeable, not offensive to anyone. Would buy it for my daughter

  • ANN BUNKER03/21/2002

I love it , but can't find it in stores , hope you keep it here on internet to order. It's a very nice fragrant, it was bought for me as a gift and been looking to buy it for six years now. I need to know if there is a way to do a split payment plan to get it. Please write back Ann Bunker [email protected]

  • NONI03/17/2002

i can smell where your friend is coming from.wearing paris for me was like sitting in church wearing l'air du temps holding a bouquet of very fragrant red roses. very grown up and important. how nice. paris is special.

  • ASCHATAN03/11/2002

YSL had to change the name for reasons to do with Champagner being a trademark... but a rose is a rose and smells as sweet under another name.

  • MAGGIEMAE02/17/2002

Love Paris but must be used sparingly. The lotion is really yummy.

  • CINDY01/24/2002

I love the Paris soap but have a hard time finding it.

  • ANN01/14/2002

You can still find Paris around. Though they have discontinued some of their product line. You can always look on E-bay!!

  • DEE12/30/2001

Paris makes my nose burn... =(

  • CONNIE12/21/2001

I have used Paris exclusively since 1988! Now I am having difficulty finding it. I certainly hope it is not dis-continued. Please let me know!

  • AIMEE12/20/2001

Soap; shampoo; hairspray; sharp; too safe with its clean personality.

  • TMBE IN TEXAS12/01/2001

Paris is one of my all time favorites. One whiff and it's 1989 (great year by the way)again and I'm back in high school. FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!!! It simply has that effect on you.

  • AL11/29/2001

Beautiful classic scent. Just finished a bottle and would definitely buy another one. A must-have for perfume enthusiasts who love the smell of roses and romance.

  • NESS11/25/2001

Beautiful scent. Women seem to like it the most. As a European, it reminds me of flowers in paris. Definately a classic

  • LYN11/23/2001

I love Paris. It's my signature scent. I always get so many comments on how nice I smell when I wear it.

  • JOLENE10/20/2001

Tonya, I agree with Karina. Don't listen to anyone who tells you that Paris is an "old lady" scent. While it's true that fragrances in our grandmother's day tended to have a "rosey" scent to them, that's not to say that perfumes containing rose are automatically dated or grandmotherly. Paris has only been around since 1983. And even if people think that was a long time ago, modern perfumers continue to make rose-based fragrances to this day. Sonia Rykiel's "Rykiel Rose" and Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria -"Rosa Magnifica" are two prime examples. Rykiel Rose is sort of a modern update of Paris, although I still like Paris better. :)

  • KARINA10/02/2001

I think Paris is a gorgeous scent (and apparently a lot of other people do, too, given the responses on this site!) but I see why some might associate it with an "older" smell. Women in our grandmothers' day tended to favor very floral fragrances, especially rose, so people associate strong florals with "old ladies", especially because modern fragrances tend to stay away from these ingredients. Paris isn't all that old -it's only been around since the 80's, I think-but the ingredients are all very classic, and a little old fashioned, including a strong and very distinct rose element. But anyway, don't listen to anyone who tells you it smells too old- Paris is a beautiful and very sophisticated perfume for those who don't want to spray on whatever new cheap scent of the month is currently in vogue!

  • TONYA09/20/2001

I have used Paris, for a few years, now and have received many compliments, however one of my friends mentioned that it smelled like in older persons fragrance. Does anyone else agree?

  • ANN08/20/2001

I am looking for Paris' Bath Grains and Bath and Shower Gel. I heard they discontinued it. HELP!

  • MARCY07/31/2001

Hi Vicki I did not know that you visited here also. I am also looking for a summer scent, thought I might try Amuleti like you did. It kinda led me here! I need a scent with some staying power, so I don't know what to pick. See ya on the forum.

  • JOLENE07/29/2001

Paris smells good year-round in my opinion. It does smell like a fresh bouquet of roses. It's one of those fragrances that seems to smell great on everyone!

  • KARINA 07/29/2001

If YSL's "Opium" is the sexiest fragrance, then their "Paris" is the certainly the most chic! It is quintessentially French-soooo sophisticated! Roses are the predominant scent here, and what woman doesn't love roses? Keep in mind, it's a very fresh rose smell, mixed with a lot of "green" undertones, so don't worry about smelling like your Grandmother! It's chic and stylish, but very clean at the same time.

  • BETH07/22/2001

Paris is a "rosy" perfume. It contains roses, mimosa, orange flower, moss, sandalwood, and amber. It was supposedly created to capture the smell of Paris in the springtime.

  • NURSE PEBBLES07/18/2001

Someone remarked that this smelled like "roses"..I would have to say not a "rose" smell in the sense of a scent such as "Tea Rose"..however it is a delightful floral scent:)

  • ERLY07/09/2001

I am so lucky - my husband has allergies and the wonderful smelling Paris is the only scent I've ever tried that doesn't make him sneeze!

  • RUBY07/07/2001

    pure floral perfume

  • JANETTE CRIPPS06/26/2001

What is the name of your perfume that has a red heart shaped top..

  • VICKI06/25/2001

WHERE I LIVE IN THE SUMMER IT CAN GET REALLY HOT AND MUGGY AND THOUGH I DO TEND TO ENJOY AWIDE VARIETY OF FRAGRANCES PARIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES FOR THE SUMMER ESPECIALLY WHEN IT GETS HOT REALLY HOT SO NICE AND LINGERING.........

  • STEPHANIE06/18/2001

This is a very nice, clean, feminine and classy scent. Although I don't wear this a lot because it usually just doesn't last on me, it is very nice and I'd recommend it to just about anyone.

  • WILLY06/04/2001

MY SISTER AND I BOTH LOVE THE SCENT OF PARIS AND I REPEATEDLY RECEIVE COMPLIMENTS ON THE SCENT AND INQUIRIES ABOUT IT WHEN IM WEARING IT, FROM BOTH SEXES, ITS TH EPITOMY OF FEMININITY....:)

  • KIMBERLY04/27/2001

I like Paris a lot. It smells like Roses to me. I like how it lasts a long time too.

  • ALYCIA04/16/2001

I have been wearing Paris since high school and that is the only perfume I wear. EVERYONE always comments on how nice I smell.

  • EILEEN03/30/2001

I love Champagne, too. The Champagne region of France forced YSL to change the perfume's name. It's now marketed as Yvresse.

  • TRAYCEE03/08/2001

I used to love Champagne by YSL. I wore it for about a year then went to buy another bottle. Really disappointed that it's not made anymore. Don't know why. The salesperson suggested Paris. I love it! My best friend in high school wore it. Whenever i wear it, i think of all the fun we had back then!

  • KAY SEALE01/17/2001

I, too, have been wearing Paris since it debuted. It is my signature fragrance and I, too, have received many compliments. Very rarely does anyone compliment me about my scent unless I'm wearing Paris.

  • KAREN BOLTZ01/03/2001

Do you carry Paris, eau de parfum? Also the body cream?

  • C12/27/2000

when i smelled this stuff, it remined me of my favorite perfume, ie figi. . . . . . is it the same stuff?

  • JEAN ANDERSON09/16/2000

For me there is no other perfume than Paris! I have used the fragrance since it first appeared in Dallas. I have received numerous compliments on wearing it, and I don't plan to change. LONG LIVE PARIS and YSL!
