I am now 26 years old and still use this perfume.. not only is it a smell like no other.. its not that I am used to it... it is the most beautiful smelling perfume I know of... this is my number one and I have to have it always... 13 years wearing this perfume.. almost 14.. and wow.. MUST HAVE!!!! In your perfume collection. also even having it for so long wearing it. I get complimented allll the time.. what is that smell ?? you smell so nice. ect. BEST BEST BEST BEST FAVOURITE FOR 13-14 YEARS!

From the firt dy I smelled this fragrance I loved it! People are always asking what I'm wearing. I hint around special holiays to my husband this is something he can give me.

One of my fav perfumes for several years now. I get complents on it all the time. Try it b/c its what you want a perfume to smell like yet its different from any else. It is a little strong so one spray in my hair (a great tip i got in a magazine once: the oils in your hair preserve the smell of your perfume and everytime your hair moves the scent is light dispersed) does it for the whole day!

for the longes time i really enjoyed this scent on one of my co-workers, but never asked what she was wearing because she wasn't one of my favorite people. yesterday i FINALLY found it while browsing at the department store! it is a unique smell to me. i was smelling my wrist for the rest of the evening! i'm going out this weekend to buy it!

I to have the same effect of the fragrance as you do. I thought it would be considered more of a sweet,woody,spicy even orential sent not floral. I do not get that at all when I where it. i think Givenchy should take a second look when he categorizes these fragrances.

I have to admit that I was not thrilled about it in the beginning but it has become one of my favorites. It smells very pretty and has good lasting power for an edt.

I smelled this in a magazine about five years ago and ran to the mall and bought it. This was obviously before I knew that perfumes smell differently on paper than they do on individuals. The first time I put it on, I got a horrible headache that I couldn't shake. I tried using it again a few times after that and the headache ensued each time. The smell is not so bad, it's just incredibly strong and heady florals don't work well with my body chemistry. There are two ladies in my office who wear this perfume (I verified it by asking them since I recognized the smell) and the fragrance literally announces their arrival in a room before they enter. Not to mention it lingers for several minutes after they leave. As does my headache. For those who think it wears off too quickly, you probably just got used to the scent so for the benefit of those around you, please do not spray on more! As a side note, the few times that I tried to wear it, my sisters said it made them gag, but I did receive a few compliments from the boys. Go figure. There isn't enough aspirin in the world as far as I'm concerned.

i hate rose scented perfumes.its just heavy.i can smell rose oil in it.please keep it away from me.it gives me headache

we all love how.rose smells but we dont buy those perfumes cos they smell old lady like.if u want a sophisticated young rose fragrance this is the one to go with. really am in love with this one

i also find that this changes on me, sometimes its lite rosy and musky, other times its candyish, and other times its spicy, has anyone else noticed this? thats why i think i luv it so much, it smells different everytime i wear it, keeps me coming back for more, a perfect scent in every way, LUV IT.

I bought this and wore it once before giving it to my mother. Somthing thats in this fragrance that is also in many other newer fragrances that I personally can't handle. I suppose its the rose scent? Most of the perfumes I don't like have it. I do like coco, channel no 5, anais anais and tiffany. I suppose that is enough of a selection, but I always hope to find something new I love.

the more i wear it the more i crave it, it is intoxicating, never thought id go crazy over a rose scent, has the most sexiest musky drydown ive ever smelt, BEAUTIFUL! 10 STARS!

This is my signature perfume, everytime I wear it I get compliments from both men and women. It makes me feel sexy, due to the attention it grabs. However, I do wish it would last longer.

Just bought a 1.7oz bottle of this a couple weeks ago. Only wearing it once every other day and now the bottle is more than half empty...hince it wears off WAY 2 fast. Which is sad because it really is a beautiful scent.. Try Givency Amorage if you like this brand it lasts alot longer and is just as lovely.

This perfume is very popular...cant believe its sell for young people...its old fashioned not modern or sophisticated at all...really disappointed by Very Irresistible...thought it would be great!

When I think of dark rose I think of Anna Sui ......however I have no idea what notes are in it or even if rose plays at all....Its very sexy and mysterious though...try it.

don't know..tried it once but i found it too powdery and sickeningly sweet. in spite of the fact that i usually like sweeter scents this one is like you were in the candy shop all day. somewhat too loud and in-your-face. have to admit though that it's not the worst smelling perfume but not meant to be for the classy either...

I have never been into florals so when i heard of this one didnt bother with it till i had a friend who bought it, and made me try it, its not what i expected at all, this is beautiful and not too rosy smelling(which is what i thought it would be)must be the star anise which balances it, it really is my pretty perfume for when i want to feel lpretty, lovely fragrance.

I tryed this one on the other day, and I was pleasantly surprised. When I think of rose scents, I think of Tea Rose, and ysl Paris comes to mind. While I like those ones I find them hard to wear. Givenchy has done a great job of centering the rose, and giving it a great background of greens, and spices. Most rose scents get paired with pepper, which is horrid smelling, or it gets paired with vanilla, making it smell too old fashioned. Well balanced, and updated is how I would describe this one, and the staying power is perfect as well.

I love this fragrance. It reminds me of two carefully carved Candy roses on a wedding cake that suddenly come alive escaping the confines of frilly frost finding a hidden garden in which they entwine with each other forever. Yes, at first it is shy and innocent making you think, oh, another sweety pie scent. But after awhile it flips it's hair,narrows it's sultry eyes and says, "Take me!"

It' very nice to have a modern rose scent ! I'm sure it will be a classic perfume in the future. And of course I prefer edp than edt (they are not exactlythe same).

Wish we regulars could communicate directly with eachother through a chat sub-division of PE; would be SO much easier than posting comments/queries and having to check back time and again! If you agree, write in to PE. I did, and their response was favorable! Anyway, thinking about you and your desire to find that perfect dark rose scent. I agree with you about Very Irresistible. It's too light or playful a scent in terms of what you are looking for, although it is a lovely fragrance and I do love it for what it is. I tried the Sensuale version, and did not like it as much as the original. Don't know if the following choices will lead you in the right direction, but it's worth a try. It's likely you may have already tried some of these but I wouldn't know that, so here goes: Have you tried Victoria by Victoria's Secret? It is one of my favorites, with Bulgarian Rose and fragrant herbs. (Discontinued, but still available online or through eBay.) Their newer one Divine is lovely, and worth a try. It has Rose, Lotus Flower, Muguet, Water Lilly, Amber, Blondewood and Sheer Sandalwood. Rykiel Rose by Sonia Rykiel is mysteriously beautiful, but may not be as dark as you desire. It has several different rose notes, as well as amber, sandalwood, teakwood and white musk. Or how about Basic Instinct, also by Victoria's Secret? (No, I am not a VS sales rep!) It's made of Port Plum Wine, Apricot, Turkish Rose, Gardenia, Wild Tuberose, Patchouli and Vanilla Orchid. I love it, and it is definitely purple-black-rose seductive. Flower (Le Parfum Edition-red bottle) by Kenzo is another one that is sensual as ever. It has Bulgarian Rose among other floral notes, amber, opoponax resin, boubon vanilla and white musk. Or what about Ghost by Tanya Sarne? It has predominantly rose petal notes along with jasmine flowers, sandalwood and vanilla. Sort of a basic daytime rosey scent on me, but could be nighttime extraordinary on you! Lastly, how about Byzance by Rochas? It is an alluring scent that is totally captivating to me. It has Turkish Rose, Tuberose, Mandarin, Cardamon, Anise, Musk, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Amber. If you would like, I can make you a little sample of any of the perfumes mentioned here. Try Very Irresistable Sensual. It is also very nice. VI has a berry, rose/floral base where VIS has a fruit (pear?), rose/floral, vanilla base. I love both but prefer Sensual. Sorry it doesn't work for some. Realties on me makes the cat hiss,the dog whine and the horse buck but that doesn't mean it's not a great product and will smell wonderful on someone else. So, always try before you buy to make sure it's not a chemistry thing. The most important thing is if you like it and it smells good on you then go for it. How stale it would be if everyone liked the same thing.

Let's just say that when I wore this I really did get some compliments, not only compliments but kisses too. Well, it was actually compliments while kissing, so i don't know about how this perfume may work out for other people, but for me, it was a definite boy magnet!!!

Very Irresistible is a nice rose-floral to me. But, I am forever now looking for a dark, almost black-rose. Stella is nice too, just too velvety and plush enough, but closer then Very Irresistible. I know that I'll find it eventually - she's got to be out there, (BUT COMMENTS POINTING ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION ARE VERY WELCOME) :) Very Irresistible is indeed a nice pink-light red kind of candy-rose scent. Very fresh and youthful rose... very charming and light... like pink lace... but I was looking for black-lace-rose or at lease deep purple-lace rose! I am looking for the mystery-rose, the rose of the night, not the fresh-smiley-happy-sunshine-rose.... So for what it is Very Irresistible it pretty and feminine and girly and has magnificent lasting power... just not what Maya was looking for :)

Very pretty light,sweet,floral. Smells fresh and clean, not heavy at all. I'm not one for rose scented perfumes, but I barely recognize it in this perfume. I love it for daytime, work wear.

I really love the roses scent but find it so hard to locate anything that does not smell too blah. Stella is excellent but there is just not enough emphasis on rose for me, OK maybe it's a bit too dark for my taste. But it's really good too. But this givenchy one is better though. I am like the Perfume-Aholics daughters and go through it like hot-cakes. I love that it's so fresh and rosey

My two daughters simply adore this scent, and between the two of them have gone 3/4 of the way through a large bottle in less than a month. This fragrance however just doesn't do it for me. But to those who like it, do enjoy.

This one is lovely, and doesn't smell as floral/rose as the description implies. It is a softly sweet romantic scent that lasts well. I tried it once before and didn't think that much of it. Upon a second try I was hooked! Pretty bottle too.

I absolutely adore it, at first i was not sure but it smells great, last long , not to exspensive, and the compliments come all day long. by the way cute bottle to. well........A+ Give it a try..

I loved it so much I bought it as a Christmas gift for myself! Its one of my top 3 favorites. To me it doesnt have a strong floral scent which is good.

Get this instead of VS's Very Sexy 2. Smells just alike(to me), but Givenchy's lasts much, much longer.

The scent is very pretty. Reminds me of a bounquet of roses and jasmine. Although floral perfumes are usually not my preference I'd give this one a go!!

This one is really SEXY. I think it's even sexier than Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy for her. When I wear it, it makes me feel like a dynamic, strong, powerful, rich and SEXY woman. Guys, love it too as i received many compliments. It goes well for evening wear (dark outfits). Im through with one bottle, and im looking for my second purchase.

Very Irresistible Eau De Toilette is an elegant yet mischievous aromatic floral scent, with lively yet feminine notes of rose and star anise. But not the best by Givenchy by far!

I chose this fragrance after sampling so many last year. I thought I loved it...but even one single spray of the EDT gives me a headache. I like the spicy star anise note but not a crazy about the full bodied rose notes. Not a signature for me!

Love it if put a little. Can be strong and can't breath if put too much. But overall is sexy, one of my boy friends say it too.

Most of Givenchy's perfumes are top-selling - this one is definately one scent to remember !

Got this as a gift. I prefer the green-wood-forest-leaves type of smells, like Calvin Klein’s Truth, and seeing a pink bottle wasn’t tempting, so it stayed in the box for over a month.... However, I was pleasantly surprised when I wore it on a whim one afternoon and it just felt cheerful and summery, and seemed to blend well with me… Now, I find it to be it an exiting, occasional splash of strong flowery perfume … Bottom line, fragrance is all about individual testes and trying something different is often worth it.

I got the gift set for my birthday, and I cant stand it, it stinks, its overbearing like when you walk in Macys and all the perfume people start shoving samples in your face. I feel bad because it was a gift, but now that I look at what kind of fragrance it is "Peony Rose, Fantasia Rose, etc" I understand why I dont like it, I hate Rose scented perfumes.

This perfum is very special for me, because when I'm wearing, I think that I'm very special and sexy woman.

OK, I read thru alot of these reviews and it seems to way out 50/50. Im a VERY picky person and I felt this perfume is a winner! Some say its for teens its to sweet, but honestly its a wonderful scent its not overwhelming and if most women like roses as a gift ect. then why not like it as a perfume? then some say its to teenage smelling, well thats the scent of youth so why complain this sent gets a A+. Ive been searching for a signature scent and I just may have found one,Im gonna try gucci envy me, which ever one is the best Its my signature!

Everybody's right about the gorgeous, roses-in-the-garden smell, and it's got extra pizzazz because of the star anise note: just a little oriental and exotic, but not overly spicy. I love this one, and if you like it too you might want to try Stella. It's got a richer, headier, deeper rose scent grounded by amber, and it justs lasts forever. At first I wasn't crazy about it, but it's one of those that you just start loving the more times you use it. And if you like lighter roses, the Clarins fragrance with the pink heart is super fresh and pretty.

This is a very nice scent! Does smell a little different outta the bottle than it did in the magazine strip. Very rosy smelling.

I have to eat my words. I usually love, spicy or woodsy smells, but the florals have definitely come up. This is my new favorite perfum. It is sweet, striking and sensual all at the same time. And the good thing about it is that you don't have to dress up to wear it (i.e. Vera Wang and Initial). I like it as a fall or winter scent and I wear it when I know my outfit will also turn heads, but it's not an necessarily and evening or "go out to dinner" scent. It is also good for "nights in".

I bought this when it first came out and loved it! Definatly a nightime scent, helps you stand out in a smoky bar for sure! I had tons of guys telling me I smelt nice and if they could buy me drinks!

I did NOT like it. It was just fine with my chemistry, so that is not the reason... but it is just too sickeningly girly-sweet for me! I guess you just have to like that sort of fragrance. The store said a lot of men like it... I have met many men with bad taste in perfumes! haha, no offense!

this isnt what i expected. ive been trying to convince my self to like it alot but i just cant. i smell the alcohol too much and it smells very cheap.its not elegant or sophisticated. when it dries down it smells like its been mixed with water. not horrible but not my type

Recently traveled to Brazil; Brazilians were going crazy. They had every reason to approach me to ask what was I wearing. Some men can be so descriptive when they want to. " it is so different...so beautiful." Mostly a male thing. Not many compliments from females.

this smelled ok at first but the dry-down on me just had this weird offensive note i didn't like at all.

i tried it on at a mall first, then went online to order the big bottle. i thought it smelled impressive than other things on shelf. i hope i like it instead of end up thinking it smells like bug spray (???). look at reviews here and some hate/some love this one. i hope i like this one!

I had to try this after the reviews and of course the campaign to sell it. I find this sickening..maybe its to rose for me..but if you agree and like rose scents..try Beautiful Sheer.

I am VERY glad that I didn't buy this simply based on its description here or in the magazine I found it in. It is excessively powdery and perfumey, like a bad French perfume. One spritz at the mall gave me a slight headache (and I'm not prone to headaches) and made me feel a little cheap. It probably won't kill you, though. TRY IT ON FIRST!

I love all the fragrances of Givenchy,but i think this one is like the name say's Irresistible, i absolutly love it. Givenchy has done it again.

I loved the scent when I bought it in the Duty Free store few months ago, unfortunately it doesn't mix with my body chemistry well or something like that. It makes me feel sick after a while, so I can't use it really.

I tried this one at the Foley's counter. Let it dry down for a few minutes. To me,it smelled like a soft version of Liz Claiborne. The lady at the counter said she had other customers say that. Mentioned it was the rose in it. In the 80's I wore Liz, I used to get a lot of compliments. I almost bought VI right there. Glad I saved my money. VI turned sour on me. By the time I got home, I thought it was horrible. I guess it didn't mix well with me.

Unless you are Jennifer Lopez and can afford to spend this much money for bug repellant, I suggest you stick to the conventional Off! brand for your insect issues. I also LOVED this scent, as did my boyfriend of the time, in the ad where I smelled it. However, to my horror and disappointment, it truly did smell EXACTLY like bug repellant on. If you want something "Very Irresistable", buy some Gucci Rush, it is MUCH sexier.

I have always think Givenchy's are very strong scents and nevertheless I love strong ones... Givenchy's have always been out of my taste. My brother visited me last November and bought me a 2.5 Very Irresistible bottle. I was very dissapointed about that gift, until I try it on... it was GREAT!!!!!!... My husband, my brother, my friends, even by my workmates, all agree, I have become very irresistible lately!

I loved this scent when I smelled it in an ad, but on me it smelled like bug repellent. Defenitely try it on before you buy it.

I love love love this scent! I think ELSJE said it best, "sweet as candy but still elegant." Very soft and sexy too. I really hope they come out with a eau de parfum cause this only lasts a few hours on me.

This one, to me doesn't smell like Allure, and I really like Allure. It is very nice fresh-rosy smell, not oldish but very modern, fresh and not too much sweet. It is very pleasent smell, very "young" and there is something special about it-it is not just like any other, I mean not a "celebrity name". It is fresh but not simple, it is complex. I can compare it with Sparkling by Gai Mattiolo (which is also very nice). And it is very elegant. Really GREAT. Hope this helps!

Nerolia, You say this smells like Allure but less citrusy, so would you say that someone who likes Allure would like this? I'm a big fan of Allure but I love quite a few perfumes and have quite a few also, so I'm always looking for a new one.

I was set on getting this based on the great reviews and the description - sounded like just what I wanted. Then I tried it on at the perfume counter, and whoa, it HATED me. Smelled wretched and was very persistent. Like a lot of other scents, I'd say this one is very much affected by one's particular body chemistry. I'm glad you all like it, but I'm even more glad I tried it on.

To be blunt, this scent is very sexy. It smells so much better on then it does in the bottle. I would definitly recommend this!

Allure, but less citrusy. At one stage after spraying it on it smelled just like Amarige, but luckily got much better.

I love everything about this one. I love roses and it's full of them, but it's not old fashioned traditional scent. It's floral, fresh, sweet and feminine. It's light but lasting. I love the packing from the pretty bottle to the pink color. It's my new favorite signature scent.

I tried this from a sample and loved it. I am really surprised because I normally do not like rose as a fragrance note, and this contains so many! It's really fresh, not too sweet, and has a melon/musky undertone to me. It's soft and sexy, too. I love it!
