were can i find the natural cologne spray?

  • JUDY NILL09/20/2009

please bring back norell natural cologne !

  • ANN FROM KY09/04/2009

Where can we find this? I loved it and always bought it to go along with the Norell colgnenand/or perfume.

  • CLAIRE09/04/2009

I had been purchasing Norell (natural colonge spray) at Walgreen's in Rhode Island. However Walgreen's stopped carrying this item in April 2009. They were getting it from 5 Star Fragrance co in N.Y. I miss it terribly plus all the nice comments when women would ask me "what are you wearing, it's such a lovely fragrence." good luck hunting......also make sure the bottle says (natural spray) that is the key word.

  • MARY01/04/2009

I too am looking for a source for the lotion and the dusting powder. The Norell BY NORELL is the original and the best. When I wear it, I always get compliments. SOME SAVY fragrance company should "pick up" Norell and run with it; I know profits would follow!

  • VIRGINIA12/29/2008

I began using this in the late 60's and always purchased the Norell Natural Spray Cologne in a High End Department Store. Now the ONLY type I can find is the Eau de toilett which has a COMPLETE different scent. PLEASE TELL ME WHERE TO BUY THE NATURAL SPRAY COLOGNE NOW. DEPERATE IN TEXAS

  • SOPHIA ALBANESE09/10/2008

I recently purchased a bottle of Norell perfume...it's an okay fragrance. I also came across a vintage bottle of Norell on ebay and I can honestly say, the two fragrances are very different. While the new fragrance is good, nothing can compare to the original formula. A lot of wonderful scents are being reformulated. It makes me sad ... wish I had a "heads up" so I could have stocked up.

  • TERRY09/07/2008

I am so sad I am unable to find Norell Body Lotion. I have worn it for years and received nothing but compliments on how good I smelled. Please bring it back. It is the best.

  • EDITH08/06/2008

I feel your pain. I have been trying to locate some since the late 80's. If you find any please contact me at [email protected] thanks THE BEST fragrance EVER

  • EDITH08/06/2008

I am looking for Norell II not Norell BUT NOREll II. You seem to know about this fragrance line. Can you help me locate some? I would be so grateul. thanks

  • BONNY05/06/2008

I wore Norell in the 60's and people would follow me to ask what I was weraing. I was still wearing it in the 80"s & my husband fell in love with the fragrance. I started wearing other perfumes when I couldn't find it. Then found it in a drugstore! How could that happen to the elegant "come hither"perfume I loved? I just ordered & received some from this sight thinking Prestige would be different. Surprise! The bottom of the bottle says "Five Star" and smells cheaper than the original. Why don't we hear from Five Star and Prestige as to why the formula is not the same?? Hello???

  • NANCY12/12/2007

Does anyone know where I can buy the Dusting Powder (may be called Bath Powder). I used to be able to find bundled with a bottle of perfume, but now that is not available either. Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • JANE11/05/2007

I've worn Norell for 27 years and cannot express my disappointment when I recently purchased a bottle by Five Star Fragrance. It was strong and cheap smelling and didn't resemble my old standby in any way. Why would they ruin such a classic fragrance? I see that Prestige Fragrance also makes Norell and I'm wondering if their version is still the original formula.

  • KATHY09/06/2007

just lovely. I sampled this tonight in Walgreens and I think I will go back tomorrow and buy this one.. It doesn't have any sharp annoying notes that some florals have...Starts stong but wait, after a very few minutes it dries down to a sublte clean smelling fragarance. Reminds me of that just washed clean shampoo smell, when shampoos used to smell clean...before they all starting smelling like Papaya or Strawberry and all that nonesense.

  • ELISABETH 07/19/2007

Does anyone know where to find this product? I would be so grateful to find out where to purchase it.

  • MARISA02/10/2007

I played dress-up with this as a kid...it was a sample bottle my mother had. I loved it--I felt like a princess when I tried a dab of it behind my ears. Tonight I found a mini-bottle of it at Longs Drugs and I can't stop sniffing my wrist! At nearly 40 years old now, I still feel like a princess wearing this!

  • LS12/29/2006

Which company reformulated the original 1968 Norell in 1997? Both companies are equally represented at various sites. Thanks~

  • SHARON RHEA11/12/2006

I also have searched everywhere for the tiny little container of solid Norell. My Mother's container still has a tiny bit in it ... which is probably why they no longer make it as it lasts so long ... like shag carpet we had for a million years .... :) If anyone can find it, I want it. I'm going to try some sites like Vermont Country Store and request it. Did someone say it was Revlon ? Let's all contact Revlon. It might not help, but couldn't hurt.

  • SYLVIE06/11/2006

I have to agree, there is a big difference between the "vintage" Norell from the 70's and the new version by Five Star Fragrance. The new fragrance smells completely different! (My posting from 2004 were for the old/vintage formula!!!) My rating now is for the new Norell. I will not purchase it again. I have both, the old and new version, so I can compare them. The old Norell is breathtaking, crisp, sharp and wonderful: An aromatic fragrance with power!!! The new Norell smells nice and so-so, but has no similarity. Maybe the dry-down smells similar. I can smell soft carnation in both versions. But I miss the wonderful, uplifting headnotes, the staying-power and the complexity!!! I hate, hate, hate reformulated "cheap" masterpieces. Very disappointing!!! Norell by Revlon for Women Year Introduced: 1968/97 Scent Type: Floral Top Notes: Greens, reseda, galbanum, bergamot, verbena Heart Notes: Carnation, hyacinth, rose, jasmine, ginger lily, calla lily, jonquil, ylang-ylang, heliotrope. Base Notes: Musk, iris, sandalwood, myrrh, vanilla. "In 1968, Revlon launched Norell with the endorsement of American designer Norman Norell, whose philosophy was that one should always buy the best one can afford. The Norell name was subsequently sold and the formula was "updated." In 1997, it was reformulated according to the original 1968 formula. A classic floral fragrance, Norell zips open with snappy green notes, then does a slow dissolve to a rich, sophisticated floral heart. Spicy carnation and warm background essences create a luxurious ambiance, evocative of a Norell satin sheath. The glamour of Norell couture lives on in a courtly, refined fragrance that whispers of wealth. "© - Scent Profile by Jan Moran author Fabulous Fragrances II © 2006 -

  • CICI04/21/2006

Norell is a masterpiece. I’ve been looking for a substitute for it because it seems to have changed a bit, a little more synthetic, and the old version was so much richer and longer lasting than the new, but everything else is crude and simplistic by comparison. I did enjoy a brief dalliance with ONLY, by Givenchy, but was ultimately unfulfilled. It just doesn’t have the layering, the substantive base notes , or the incredible drydown that Norell does. It’s pitiful, but I still have yearnings for a solid perfume that Norell put out, like, 20 years ago. I’d pay a mint for that solid today. I found an ancient pot of it in an old purse with a teeny bit left and it STILL smelled wonderful! The tradgedy is that although Norell has changed, I’ve been ruined for other perfumes and just can’t seem to move on…

  • LEELEEYA03/16/2006

Very delicate and fine. I was born the same year this came out '69 baby! Still a classic. It's great to see there were no negative comments or people who didn't favor it. Keep up good job Norell.

  • JUDITH03/14/2006

Unless you can find a bottle produced by Prestige Fragrance, the true Norell is gone. Five Star Fragrance makes it now, and it is the 'weak', 'sour', 'off' version that old-school Norell fans now complain about. Most good companies (including this one) are willing to check their stock for the actual manufacturerufacturer. I have not yet found anyone who has pre- Five Star Norell. But if someone finds one, please post a message - and we may not need a grief support group!

  • CAROL CROSS02/02/2006

I love this perfume. I also enjoy the body creme. Where can I find it? It is the best.

  • LAURA12/30/2005

I can't tell you how many compliments I get from men and women when I wear this body lotion. Unfortunately, like the other comments I've been reading, it's getting harder to find. My husband gave me the lotion 2 years ago for Christmas and went looking all over and found it finally in a flea market. This is a classic scent that I hope will not dissapear.

  • EILEEN II12/27/2005

Is anyone able to respond to Barb's original question? I've worn Norell cologne exclusively since 1970, but the bottle I recently picked up, by Five Star Fragrances, did not smell the same - no body, no staying power. Which manufacturer produces the real thing? Thanks very much!

  • JUNE10/20/2005

When I started wearing Norell back in the late 60's, it was only found in high-end department stores. To my surprise when I began my search to find it again a year or so ago, I found it at Walgreen's Drug Stores. I never would have found it if the woman in the perfume department at the department store hadn't told me where to go. It still smells great to me. I can't tell any difference. I love the elegant body lotion too. Hope this helps and that everyone has a Walgreen's nearby.

  • ELISHA 10/18/2005

This very time of year makes me think way back to when I was barely 22, fresh out of college, and was a month and a half into working my first job as a 5th grade elementary school teacher. It was a chilly evening in mid-October 1970, and I was wearing Norell on Open School Night with a black mini-dress. All my students' moms wanted to know "What perfume is that? It's gorgeous!" before they even asked how their children were doing in my class! All the dads seemed to like it too, and flirtatiously liked ME in addition! I've loved this perfume since it debuted around the time of the Woodstock Festival in 1969! Try it, even if you're a young girl; you won't be disappointed! Unlike a lot of these modern 'watery', 'fruity' fragrances that are out on the market today, Norell is a classic that is truly PRETTY and truly FEMININE. If you like Norell, I'd also reccommend Chanel No. 5, ALL Guerlain's classics (especially Shalimar, Chant D'Aromes, and Parure--I wore Parure on my wedding day), Femme de Rochas, Patou's 'Joy', Estee Lauder's 'Youth Dew', Yves St. Laurent's 'Y' and 'Rive Gauche', and Molinard's 'Habanita'. First de Van Cleef & Arpels, Jean-Charles Brosseau's 'Ombre Rose', and Estee Lauder's 'Spellbound' are nice, too. Of the more modern ones, MaxMara's new signature fragrance and Dolce & Gabbana's 'Sicily' are beautiful.

  • MELANIE08/25/2005

This is my second favorite perfume after Estee Lauder's Azuree. Such memories! The slightest scent takes me back to the 70's and my young adulthood. It still smells great, though I must say, its been reformulated somewhat.

  • SUZANNE07/07/2005

I found my older bottles of Norell from way back and discovered they were the cologne and what I ordered recently was the eau de toilette. Maybe that's why it smells different, because a lot of times cologne versions do differ from eau de toilette. Anyway, I've been wearing it and it smells great and classic. Now I think both versions are equally nice.

  • SUZANNE06/30/2005

I don't know what to think. There's people on this board saying the fragrance was reforumlated and people who seem of the opinion that it smells the same to them. I first bought a bottle of this fragrance back in 1988 and liked it, then stopped wearing it for about fifteen years because of all the other new perfumes out there. A week ago I decided to go back to it and ordered a new bottle and there's no doubt in my mind that it is DIFFERENT than it was. It had a lovely leathery, spicy bite to it that is now absent and it smells more lemony and herbal than it did. It's still 'nice', I suppose, but I was disappointed to find it smelled like a totally different fragrance from what I remembered it being back in the 80's. It doesn't smell 'off', it just smells like a different perfume.

  • CHRISTINE06/01/2005

I bought a bottle of Norell on impulse as I hadn't seen it anywhere in years. My reasons are purely sentimental (or should I say scentimental?) as when I was growing up one of the hip, young, cute mothers in my neighborhood wore this on big nights out or when she was modeling naughty nighties for her husband. In revisting the scent I was disappointed at how knock down strong and confusingly complicated it smells. It was great on the cute mom, but it's too much for me. That being said, it's a very elegant scent, appropriate for evening and evokes Audrey Hepburn-ish images of being swathed in mink and diamonds. Wear it, baby and start tossing that old family money around!

  • M03/07/2005

If you like Elixir I recommend Coriandre by J Coutuier, It is ligther and good for summer. Also unusual here in Sweden, I havn´t sniffed it on anyone. Norell is ok but another type of scent, see my earlier posting.

  • CAT03/06/2005

Dear Sylvie, thanks a lot for taking the time to reply especially to me. I´m beginning to grasp it now; and I do remember Fidji - though that one isn´t available over here anymore, either. The perfume market is a lot like with books and CD:s - you have to be quick, come the next season, they're gone. Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks. Probably won't look again at the Norell reviews page on Perfume Emporium - they wouldn't like it if we turned it into a private chatroom, I guess... Greetings from a cold Stockholm!

  • SYLVIE02/09/2005

Dear Cat, sorry, I responded so late forgot to check and see if anyone had posted for me. For your further information: Aromatics Elixir is NOT similar to Norell. Aromatics is a chypre - more Coriandre by Couturier, Halston or Paloma Picasso perfume style (Chypre are complicated and special, not for everyone). NORELL is an unique floral. Similar to the legendary FIDJI by Laroche: Clear, bright and floral-fresh but with a feminine sweetness in its dry-down. No leather-smell. Hard to describe but reminds me on springtime flowers. I know both, Norell and Aromatics. Both are fine and very nice fragrances. Greetings from Germany!!

  • CAROL02/04/2005

I cherish the jar of Norell body cream I have. Does anyone know who carries this. It is absolutely the best and I always get compliment. Thanks, Carol

  • M01/22/2005

..of Bellodgia from Caron. The smell from carnation is distinct on me. Soapy smell, not so fresh as other green-flowery fragrances. A bit disappointed, thought it should me better after reading all positive ratings here.

  • CAT12/30/2004

Hi Sylvie, thanks for your description. I don´t know whether or not you intended it as an answer to my question, but it certainly served that purpose, anyway. I presume that you are talking about the same formula that´s for sale on this site, although they claim it to have been launched in 1969...? Anyway, thanks.

  • SYLVIE12/01/2004

Unbelievable posh, sharp, rich, breathtaking, and UNIQUE! American style fragrance of the early Seventies. Norell : 1968 Norell (Five Star Fragrance) USA. Olfactive description: Galbanum Mandarine Lemon Lavender Floral(Jasmine, Hyacinth, Iris, Mimosa, Gardenia, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine) Cinnamon Coriander Vanillic Cardamom Calla-lily Musky Vetiver Oakmoss Myrrh. For my nose similar to Fidji(1966) by Laroche and Anais-Anais by Cacharel, and Cabochard by Grès. The Hyacinth and Jasmine smells great and dominant in this fine fragrance. I love all the wonderful ingredients in NORELL. And I love the irresistible, subtle sweetness in the marvellous drydown. A jewel and masterpiece.

  • CAT09/30/2004

I´m so curious about Norell, but I don´t believe we´ve ever had it over here in Sweden. Is it anything at all like Aromatics Elixir? Some comments have led me to believe so. Love that one!

  • OLATZ09/26/2004

I LOVE NORELL, HAVE FOR OVER 25 YEARS BUT IT IS SO HARD TO FIND THESE DAYS. I HAPPENED TO FIND A BOTTLE OF THE EDT AT MARSHALL'S LAST YEAR - I FELT AS IF I HAD FOUND GOLD. BUT, I HAVE NOT SEEN IT ANYWHERE SINCE. I ALSO MISS THE BATH POWDER AND BODY CREAM WHICH I HAVEN'T SEEN FOR OVER 10 YEARS. I HOPE THAT ALL THESE POSITIVE REVIEWS HERE WILL REACH THE ATTENTION OF THE MANUFACTURER AND PROMPT THEM TO MAKE THE NORELL LINE MORE AVAILABLE.

  • Norell II was out in the early eighties but unfortunately discontinued. It was SUPERB. The blend was perfection. Men asked me what I was wearing. I did write to the company at that time, and was told of it's discontinuance. I compare it to Eau de 1000, and the also extinct Red by Geoffrey Beene. Anyone out there remember it? I still need a Grief Support Group for this one.

  • ANDREA08/02/2004

I want this product again and cannot find it. It is fabulous!

  • PAT07/24/2004

I, too have been using Norell for 30 years. I first noticed it on someone else and asked what she was using. At that time it was sold at Nordstroms. I started using a Norell lotion called 'body silk', the perfume and the bath powder. I layered those and was amazed by the way it lasted. I,too received many compliments and requests for the name. It seems that it was advertised by word of mouth. For several years I have been unable to find it in any retail store, but have been ordering it from a store that finds old or discontinued fragrances. I wanted the body silk because it lasted so well, but they could not find that, and I was able to buy the body cream and bath powder. I still get compliments on the fragrance, and can't understand why the company didn't support it. apparently more profit is to be made with new products.

  • JANA04/28/2004

My mother loves Norell too and is always asking for the body cream. I found it on the web last year but now am having a more difficult time finding it now. It is also often confused with the lotion. Any help out there? Please help! E-mail [email protected]

  • KATHLEEN04/04/2004

30 years ago,I first smelled this fragrance on a Sunday morning in church. A very attractive blonde women smelled gorgeous! Asked her what fragrance she was wearing. Thank God (no pun intended) she told me "Norrell". Always go back to it when I want to smell like I have all the money in the world and smell like I spent 300.00 an ounce for my perfume! Great for year round use. Have the shower gel and lotion too!Get compliments all the time.

  • LISA03/24/2004

This is so beautiful. Smells classy. Love the top notes of hyacinth and the iris. It's very soft and also smells fresh.

  • SHIRLEY03/18/2004

I know when I wear Norell I always get compliments from men (and women) about how good I smell, and my other regular perfume is Chanel #5, I've been wearing Norell for almost 20 years. I wish they would realize what a gem they have and "reintroduce" Norell so it was more available

  • CAROL03/06/2004

Help! I love Norell and am having a very hard time finding the body cream. Any suggestions? Is it being discontinued?

  • PATRICIA12/23/2003

I have been wearing Norell for over 25 years, I have tried many other fragrances and have always returned to Norell. My husband says it is his favorite...he says it is very feminine and sexy. I'd say that is a positive endorsement.

  • CARRIE12/20/2003

I recently found an old bottle of Norell I'd used in high school (12 years ago). It had indeed "turned". The original scent was almost there but masked by a musky, almost urine-like, aroma. I suspect some of the alcohol had evaporated, leaving a more concentrated and probably oxidized version of my oldtime favorite (ever drink an old, open bottle of wine?). I purchased a fresh bottle and hooray! It smells great.

  • AMY12/20/2003

I have been using Norell perfume for years and have received countless compliments. I find it to be appropriate for day and/or evening with a delicious balance of soft florals and warm, almost fruity undertones.

  • BARB12/17/2003

Can anyone tell me the difference between Norell by Prestige, Norell by 5-Star Fragrances, Norell by Revlon and Norell by Norell? I just recently started wearing it and the one I use (Prestige) doesn't seem to stay with me - even with layering. I mean, I love the stuff, but I'd like for it to linger for more than an hour! Thanks!

  • LYNDA11/18/2003

This has been my favorite cologne for more than 25 years. It is sophisticated and subtle, almost understated. I have tried others over the years, but compared to Norell they are tacky!

  • PAULA10/15/2003

I, too have been wearing Norell since High School, and have tried countless other scents, but this one, THIS one is the one MEN always ask about, and isn't that a great reason for wearing it?

  • ELLIZA07/12/2003

has a sharp, almost leathery smell. very common - chloe smellalike but without the pretty floral that lifts chloe out of the leather purse set. smells like something you would, in fact, get at a drugstore. no standout flower, no subtlety, didn't like.

  • REPLY TO CYNTHIA06/08/2003

According to a site I read....In 1968, Revlon launched Norell with the endorsement of American designer Norman Norell, whose philosophy was that one should always buy the best one can afford. The Norell name was subsequently sold and the formula was "updated." In 1997, it was reformulated according to the original 1968 formula.

  • LIZ12/02/2002

I have been wearing this fragrance for over 30 years, probably since it was introduced, and still get many compliments on it from both men and women. As far as I'm concerned it is truly a classic. Many of the trendier fragrances do not compare favorably.

  • CATHY08/23/2002

I have worn Norell for as long as I can remember. I'm 50 now and I was wearing it in my 20's. I can't tell you how many times men say "you smell wonderful" what are you wearing and then they go out and buy it for their wives.

  • KAREN07/19/2002

I agree with Eileen's comment "Norell smells like old money, in a figurative sense, of course. Reminds me of mink stoles and diamond bracelets." My mom wore this fragrance when I was a little girl back in the early 70s. She worked in NYC on Madison Ave. I've always loved the scent, and now I wear it as an adult. Men always give me compliments... asking me what I'm wearing. I just say Norell... and I always get the same response "I've never heard of that." Norell is an old frangrance, but still has much sex appeal!!!

  • DENISE05/13/2002

A little stronger version of Fidji, and readily more available,a scent very reminiscent of the islands to me.

  • KARINA03/06/2002

Hi Cynthia! Since many classic scents do (sadly!) get reformulated, I looked into this, as I am also a lover of Norell. As far as I can tell, the scent has never been reworked, and the fragrance being produced today is true to the original. That being said, it's very possible that you smelled an old or outdated bottle, because although Norell is still produced, it is made in much smaller quantities, and, for the last ten years or so, has been in very limited distribution. So there are a lot of old bottles that have probably "turned" being sold out there-since the better department stores stopped carrying it, a lot of the existing supply was shipped out to discount stores, and sometimes when you see it, you can just tell it's been on the shelves for way too long! I have also smelled some bottles that didn't seem "right", and my guess is that they had gone bad. Hope this helps!

  • CYNTHIA02/18/2002

Norell and Chanel #5 were my first "adult" fragrances, the former epitomizing the clean, quality scents I've liked best in subsequent years and the latter capturing the warm, powdery scents I like to wear in cold weather. After 20+ years of wearing neither of these two fragrances, I bought a bottle of each and discovered that the Norell had a noticeably different scent. It smelled murkier, oilier, "cheaper," whereas the Chanel smelled the same as it had before. My nose-memory is pretty good and my scent preferences don't vary a great deal. Was Norell reformulated?

  • MAGGIEMAE02/17/2002

Norell smells great on others, but not on me.

  • JOAN08/18/2001

I've been looking for the powder in the stores and yes, it does seem to be as scarce as hen's teeth. Is this a good price for the powder?? I really like to layer my fragrance with the perfume/cologne, body lotion and bath powder. Thanks ever so much.

  • BEVHAMMOND07/13/2001

To Norell......... Please bring it back to at least Walgreens........Crying out loud!!!

  • BEVHAMMOND07/13/2001

Eileen.......Right on!!! It's such a wonderful fragrance. I'm ticked I can't find the bath pwd. in stores anymore. Got great compliments on it in the past when it was available in stores.

  • BEVHAMMOND07/13/2001

    Bully for you Stephanie.......I agree!!!

  • BEV HAMMOND07/13/2001

Thank you Kirina....I agree fully. I can't find the bath pwd. anywhere anymore (except here @ Perfume Emporium) It should be a classic. It costs like one!!! I'm mad that I can't even find the pwd at Walgreens anymore, even at Xmas. Bummer! And so says my son also. He'd like to buy it for me, and can't!!!

  • BEVHAMMOND07/13/2001

I love the fragrance. But only get compliments on the use of the bath pwd. So love "It" even more.

  • KARINA07/07/2001

Norell is one of those perfumes that started off with an air of real prestige and has, unfortunately, been bought by various companies who have sold it's rights to mass-market distributors. (You used to be able to find it only in upper-end stores.) This doesn't mean, however, that the beautiful fragrance itself smells any less exclusive! Eileen's comment about it reminding her of mink stoles and diamond bracelets is very fitting; it has a feeling of old-Hollywood glamour to it, and is definitely best for dressy, evening occasions. It smells mature and feminine- a true "woman's" perfume in an era of nondescript, "unisex" scents- which is really appealing to those of us who don't want to smell like everyone else!

  • STEPHANIE06/17/2001

This is one of my all-time favorites. It has a very classic type of smell, yet it isn't really heady like many others. It smells elegant yet young and fresh at the same time. One of the very few fragrances I don't quickly tire of. It seems suitable for most any occasion. Great price too.

  • EILEEN03/30/2001

Norell smells like old money, in a figurative sense, of course. Reminds me of mink stoles and diamond bracelets.
