Does anyone know where to obtain original Ambush in Australia? I am sensitive to chemicals and cannot wear perfume, but think I could wear original Ambush. Anyone similar?

The original Ambush I was given was a parfum. In the late 60's .Came in a tiny bottle and such exotic scents . Is this available . I have not seen it since .The Ambush by Dana as viewed on the website does not seem to be the same.

Canoe does indeed smell like the orginal Ambush,just with more alchohol. I take the cap off to let some of the alcohol evaporate. Try Canoe you won"t be disappointed.

Does anyone know where you can buy the old version of AMBUSH! I would love to be able to buy several bottles of the original AMBUSH by DANA. I wore this all through high school and when I met my husband, I was wearing "Ambush" and he loved it, too. The "new" version is a strong harsh smell and it stinks. I bought what I thought was the Ambusg Cologne I remember from my youth. However, the new Ambush absolutely stinks!!! Please, please bring back the old Ambush fragrance.

Arleen, You are right, Canoe does smell like Ambush. So now that's it. Since we can't get the old, if you want the smell of the old Ambush, buy Canoe.

I was looking again since my original source doesn't seem to carry the old ambush anymore, and people are trying to rob us! I saw one little bottel for $160.00 Ya know, I talked to ambush once a couple of years ago about going back to the original formula, and they said no way! Boy are they stupid or what? I finally gave this one a try after purchasing it several weeks ago, I am sorry that I did. I have attempted to wash this off of my wrist twice and unfortunatly, I can still smell it. This is a cheap fruity scent that reminds me of a 70'ish affordable high school girl scent..nothing romantic or sexy about this fragrance.I can not imagine a grown woman wearing this at all..This one has the potential to induce severe nausea.

I hope the original smells better than this does. I recieved it yesterday along with Arpege, Casmir and Absolu. I am still recovering from the extreme nausea that I suffered from the other 3 sickening scents. The Ambush smells real bad just from sniffing the bottle, might get up the courage to try some in a couple of days though.

I too want the Original Fragrance back. This new stuff is so heavy and overpowering. The original was light and soft. Oh the Memories that fragrance holds for me. Bring it back Dana, you won't be able to keep the shelves stocked.

Ambush has been around a long time. It smells good, but doesnt last long. It smells soft, lightly sweet. A good beginner perfume for young girls.

Does Dana have a Website. If they do, maybe if enough of us flood it with requests for our old Ambush. They might re-consider making it. I feel they cheated us by using the same name and using a completely different formula. This new stuff is not even remotely close to the original. And I tried deception not even close.

I have not tried any new Ambush. I used to get it at the local pharmacy in 1967-68. Thus, I have been checking pharmacies for the product. Now reading that Ambush is a new fragrance was a total heartbreak. I can remember wearing Ambush in highschool and several years after. I changed to another fragrance and lost track of Ambush. Now I have been looking for it because I recalled how much I loved the fragrance in the years around 1967. So I am with the people who want the old fragrance back.

I received my first bottle of Ambush from my Boyfriend in 1966. We were both 15. We are now 53. I found him 2 years ago via the internet and we just got married 3 months ago. He was going to get me Ambush again and imagine our surprise when I found this site. We were very dissappointed to find it no longer exist. He asked that I purchase more to wear for our 30th anniversary but, if the secent has changed then I will stay with the White Diamonds I have used in recent years (ps) I will still keep my husband.

I am extremely disappointed that we can no longer obtain that wonderful scent that brought back cherished memories of our adolescence and teenage courtships. I had a partial bottle of perfume (which smelled even better than the cologne) for years that I kept for romantic occasions. Men of our vintage LOVED Ambush! Dana is missing a huge marketing opportunity to bring back the old version to us boomers who have never found a scent to replace our favorite. No, the new one doesn't come close. It is like trying to pass off a Neon as a 57" Chevy.

I started using Ambush in High School, I felt so sexy!--wearing it. There has never been a fragrance for me like Ambush! I can't find Ambush in my area. Everyone that knew I had Ambush on, thought it was the perfect fragrance for me!

It's very fruity smelling, so I think it is better for use in the summer. It's one of the better, lesser expensive scents.

It's a nice summer scent. It has a very similar makeup to some of the popular new fruity escada perfumes. I do get compliments when I wear it. I wouldn't want to wear it every day though.

Why in the world did Dana change this cologne when it had so many long-time, dedicated users? It is the greatest. The new version doesn't even touch it. Why didn't they call the new version something else and leave Ambush alone?

I was feeling meloncholy and thouhgt of ambush. I don't know why but I did. So I went on a mission to try to find it. I went to the stores that I could always depend on having it stocked on there shelves. I found it or...at least I THOUGHT I had found it. I rushed home after I bought it and instantly ripped the bottle out of the package and blissfully sprayed...I GASPED! "This is not ambush?!" in disbelief. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT... What happened? Did somebody forget the recipe??? How can somebody put the name ambush on a bottle that wasn't? Was it legal to do that? Well... Lucky for me, I still have an ambush dusting powder and I run into the bathroom and open it and get my fix whenever I remember those feelings I miss so much...aww..those were the good ol' days...

This smells more like watermelon than Ambush. I had a friend diligently look for and buy this garbage for me knowing how much I love it. I had to sit there and act pleased while I was in shock. I'm sorry I hate to say this..because normally I do not think a scent has an age attached. But this stuff is way too old lady...its just rancid.

It would be preferable to charge more money for a perfume with such a loyal following than to alter the formula so that it costs less to manufacture.

I just called New Dana Perfumes @ (800)822-8547 and the rep there told me that they no longer have any stock of the old Ambush left and that it is not even being considered to be reintroduced. Very sad. My mom wore Ambush from the time I was born and she just finished her last bottle.

I agree with Nancy Roth, if it ain't broke don't fix it. The Coca-Cola people learned that when they tried to mess with the original formula. Doesn't seem like Dana is listening to it's consumers though.

I've always heard that, if it's not "broke", don't fix it. Some of the best colonge's that are memorable for many reasons are no longer available. Listen to comments from the countless that want them back, and the Marketing Dept. will not be disappointed.

If you are looking for the exact formula of original Ambush, look no further than Dana's own Canoe for men. It is the same scent, I guarantee. It is in lots of drug stores, too. Don't know why they repackaged it as a men's cologne, but they did. The new Ambush in the white box is a completely new fragrance.

I posted a msg earlier on this board re: looking for new Ambush. I bought 6 bottles of the pink topped one, and thought it would smell like it use to. I got it at Gordmans, very reasonable. Maybe I got a bad batch or something as it was very very flowery....That is why I am so happy with the new scent. I have found the pink topped ones in catalogs and on the web, but am afraid to try it now, after buying 6 bottles of the bad batch I got,,,I have been wearing it for way over 20 years. I love the smell,,,but not these six bottles that I have in closet. So I do suggest you smell it before buying if you can. Mart, when you spoke to the company, did you ask if "Canoe" (the previous men's analog to "Ambush") had also been reformulated? If not, there's your "Ambush."

This is not the original Ambush. It's entirely different. Canoe does still smell like the old Ambush. It's pretty reasonably priced.

Good thing I didn't run out and buy this "scent un-smelled"; it isn't the Ambush I remember from my college days. ("Canoe" was identical to old Ambush -- wonder if that still smells the same?!)

I hate patchouli and this contains it but I still kinda like this scent considering I don't know what the original smells like probably nothing I would be interested in I would recommend this to someone who can't afford Angel or thought it was just a wee bit too strong this might be the scent for you .P.S.I got a half ounce for only $2.99 so I can't complain

Ambush did sell the rights to the company who is putting out Deception. I got a sample of it, and it is not the same formula no matter what they say.

I was given the dusting powder a few yrs back by my MIL and loved it! But now I can't find it anywhere and have even tried contacting Dana. But no luck! If anyone discovers where to find this fabulous fragrance, please post so we can share. I have never tried the perfume but the same thing happened with my "Heaven Sent" perfume that I loved. Thanks

I live in Canada and my husband was so excited he found Ambush for me! I noticed the fragance and bottle was different, and upon investigation, found out it was sold through Houbigant. I thought that there was a law about two products having the same name, if it wasn't the same thing? I can't find it anywhere in the original scent and wonder if Dana has sold the rights to the scent, as someone on this board spoke to someone at Dana, and they said it won't be Back!!!! Why not tell us who has the rights to the scent then!!!!

I have worn the Pink Ambush for 15 years, everything else turns to YUCK on me! Luckily, I can still get it at the perfume store in the mall (Fairfield, California). It is upto $22 a small bottle and the guy says it is getting harder and harder for him to get. I do not like the New Ambush at all, it is to strong.

I called the phone number in the email from Mart (1/9/02). They suggested we try the men's colgne Canoe. Said it was just like the old Ambush. I haven't tried it yet though so can't tell you if it is or not. I thought I remembered it being very similar.

I bought a vintage mini to see what the fuss was about: Yes!! It was just like Canoe only a touch more balsamic. That's great that someone else thinks the same. The original version has no similarity to the Ambush on the shelves nowadays(cool melon and sweet vanilla caramel.) Why bother using the same name?

The original (old) Ambush has a Hot pink top and lable on it (always). The new is just a clear top. And I agree with evey one in the messages, I have been wearing Ambush by Dana since I was about 13(I am 49 now) I love the old scent as you all do. I found some old sent at www.99perfume.com. I would LOVE to have the original Ambush scent back. The new stuff stinks! Is it a possibility?

Can't find old Ambush anywhere in Louisville, Ky.....Does anyone know where it can be found?....Not eager to buy it over the Internet without smelling it first.....Yes, the new version is awful....A cheap, floral smell...

I totally loved the original Ambush scent. The new one is just awful. I have always used the Origianl Ambush and would love to find out where I could order it. I want it back now!!!!!!

I cannot believe that they have changed the scent of Ambush cologne! I used to wear nothing but Ambush! I had lost touch with it for many years as I could not even find it and was really hoping to get it here. I can tell you all out there that there is another cologne that has a very clean scent instead of a flowery scent. I have been using it for a very long time now and it is the only other scent I would wear besides Ambush. It is Clinique Elirir. I suggest that you should gho to a retailer such as marshal Fields and smell it! I really think most of you that loved Ambush would like it too! I get compliments all the time and allot of inquires as to what I am wearing. I would like to find the original scent of Ambush so if anyone knows where I can get it PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!! Does anyone know if the Ambush advertised here is the new one or the old?

My mother wore Ambush when I was a child, and I also wore it back in the late 80's. It was one of my favorites at that time. Does anyone know if the scent had already changed from the original at that time, approximately 1987?

I hate the new AMBUSH. It's just like all the other colognes out there. The old AMBUSH was really different and wonderful. If I wanted the new stuff, I could pick up 30 others just like it blindfolded! Why didn't Dana warn us? I would have bought 20 bottles before they discontinued it!

Can't find Ambush anywhere in our area - only on the net. Didn't know they had changed the scent -- what happened to the original - it was WONDERFUL. I've been using this since the mid 60's, and now can't find it.

Having hard time finding a retailer that sells the original brand without soaking me for a lot of money. Prefer the original and feel cheated that they have changed the fragrance to a flowery smell Yucch!!
