I love this perfume...

I love rumba which my mum gave me as she accidently bought it when looking for La Dix by Balanciaga. Balanciaga was once the producer of Rumba, which is now made by Ted Lapis. I still love it, I still wear it and I always attract positive comments. It is rather heavy so I use it sparingly.

First brought it in 1990 - am always being asked "what are you wearing?" men love it!!!

Ok I cannot understand the fruit and vanilla that people can smell I can only smell smoke or dust when I wear it. I do like it but I wish I could smell the other notes that many people are saying here. I have heard it has been taken over by another person and smells a little different from the original. I have the original so I am not sure about the new one. It is a very strong perfume and it lasts and lasts. If you like brittney or Paris hilton perfumes you would probably not like this one.

Nothing sensual or sexy about it. Smells like incense, rotting leaves powdered drink mix and urine. BEFORE and AFTER spraying it on my skin and on others. Everyone else that tried it in my office also had the same opinion: Peee-uu!

I got this bottle with out first spraying it on me. I bought it just out of recommendation but since i suffer from migraines I cant use it as its a bit too strong for me. do let me know. i live in mumbai.

HI MARA ! ITS BEEN MANY MONTHS SINCE MY LAST POST HERE. I HAVE NOT HAD THE GUTS TO TRY THAT 2ND SPRAY OF RUMBA YET (LOL)! I'VE BEEN USING OTHERS WHICH IM MORE COMFORTABLE WEARING. ABOUT PASSING ON THIS BOTTLE IF I DONT WANT IT...... I WOULD....BUT I LIVE TOOOO FAR AWAY FROM MOST OF YOU FOLKS !!! I LIVE IN INDIA AND IT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE TO SEND THE BOTTLE ACROSS. LETS SEE..... IF A LOT OF YOU LIKE THIS PERFUME SO MUCH THEN I MAY RUN INTO SOMEONE CLOSER TO HOME WHO DOES SO TOO ! THANKS FOR YOUR POST. TAKE CARE.

Rich and long-lasting, yet surprisingly cheap. It is strong and potent but it has never given me a headache which is big plus. Rumba is a perfect combination of sweet and exotic. Very lovely!

If you decide to give this Rumba away, please contact me. I just received a sample of it and think it smells devine. I don't even know how to describe it, because it smells different from anything I have ever smelled before, and I am a real collector of perfumes - most of which I don't like, by the way.

going by the posts for this perfume i got myself a 100 ml bottle. o my GOD !!! the moment i sprayed it i got an instant headache and my breathing became restricted as i would inhale this STRONG fragrance each time i drew a breath !!! i just could'nt handle it. i am going to put the bottle out of reach and use other milder and more favourable fragrances for a looooong time then come winter.... i will spray this one day by holding it about as far as possible from my body and just 1 quick spray. if i can handle that ,then well and good or i will give it away to a more willing user !!!!

I think you may have a point there - I've just now received a new bottle and it's almost as though one of the notes are missing or that something has been toned down - I can't quite put my finger on it. However, in saying this, it has not marred my enjoyment of the scent. On the contrary! It's still the same in essence only much better than I remember! I can't stop sniffing my wrists; I can't even believe I ever disliked this - I'm now totally in love with this scent.

Yes, it is VERRRRRY strong. This perfume doesn't wear off easily. One drop will last you for hours! So if you hate it - be warned, you'll have a difficult time washing it off. If you love it, you'll smell good for a long time. :-)

Definitely an evening/special wear scent. If I ever wore this scent in the daytime during the summer, it attracted undue attention from bees (and especially wasps)!! HOWEVER - It took a while, but this definitely grew on me. It was a gift from my mother. The scent didn't really wow me at first although it was certainly unique. I'm not very good at describing smells, but to me it was a flowery/woody mix. However, despite my reservations, whenever I wore it I'd receive so many compliments (usually from the opposite sex) which I initially found quite baffling. But eventually the scent grew on me and I've become quite nostalgic about it. :-)

I love Rumba. Have loved it since the 90's still love it today. However, it gives me a headache if I wear it in the mornings. Or for work. I save it for evening wear and special ocassions. It stays on forever. I have put it on before a night out and sometimes I can still smell it the next morning. I just got a bottle and it smelled a little different from what I remembered. Does anyone know if they have reinvented the original scent???

I just love this perfume, good for going out but i also wear it daytime it has very good staying power, JUST LOVE IT.

This perfume makes you want to roll your r-r-r-r's. It's very elegant in its own way. A subdued fruity-like-woodsy scent. Not your daily fragrance to me. But you can spray whenever you like! I usually like to wear this when going out!

Smells divine, not in a yummy "Angel" or "pink sugar" way, but a powdery and fruity wood, everything so well blended together not a single note is distinguishable from head to base, except the vanilla, which shines throughout without being strong like in "Shalimar". The blend is a true masterpiece and in my opinion rivals "Poison".Smells a lot like "parfum de peau" de Montana. Very 80's and I can't understand why it never was as popular as Montana and the likes. Someone here said it smelled like "Guepard" , but I've never come across it before so can not compare. It's my favorite and has a permanent home on my dressing table, although I change scents often and rarely buy a second bottle. Very long-lasting. In fact, I only ever buy the EDT and sometimes mix it with other fragrances to give them body and worm them up. I get lots of compliments and feel glamorous and stylish whenever I wear it.

When you are in the mood it's wonderful. Not floral sweet, woody warm. Very unique and long lasting. Top note is strong though, my mom doesn't like it and beg me not to wear it in our small apartment. I 'll wear it when she moves to another city.

the fragrance that makes me want to dance. enchanting groovy. rumba la la. moi cheri. very nice.

It's true, RUMBA smells similar to MONTANA (blue classic) but it smells much more delicious fruity (plums and peaches) and very sweet and warm. A complex, fine-balanced fragrance. If you love this kind of perfumes, maybe you will also like the brandnew Prada, Black Cashmere/Donna Karan and Tentations by Paloma Picasso.

Correction, it smells like Montana more than Guepard.

Fruity, syrupy sweet, and powdery. A little like Guepard.

I have worn this scent for many years ... it always reminded me of a smoky night club because of the leather notes in it. Very different ... my boyfriend gets practically drunk when he smells it and plays with the bottle on my alabaster cologne tray all the time !

*Rumba* is a very special fruity, animalic chypre scent. Sensual & very warm (HOT!). A delicious and "a hard to find" perfume. No other scent comes close. Unique fragrance. Hard to describe how it smells. It is very(!) long-lasting. Excellent and Balenciaga has a long tradition. WARNING: Not for shy girls!!!!

Not as nice as Quadrille, but still very enchanting. Can't put too much of it on; could be overpowering.

I see this fragrence is popular on this message board, but it's very strong, potent, exotic, and not overly feminine in my humble opinion. I guess I like softer florals.

My sister introduced me to this fragrance, and at first I thougt it was quite strong. But I realized that it eazed down. And even better, my husband goes crazy over it...

This was given to me for a christmas present and I was taken a back by the name at first cause it was nothing that I've ever seem or heard of before .At first it was kinda strong but has it mellowed out, it became a suttle seductive aroma that just kept floating with each body movement. ABSOLUTLEY FABULOUS !!

Rumba is a great fragrance. I have not smelt another fragrance like it. It is lively, very femine and totally original. It reminds of the glamorous movie stars of the fifties and sixties. Although not an old fragrance, there is a timelessness about this fragrance.I have received good comments from men and women alike.

quite floral, but a bit woodsy too. distinctive and sensual and sexy

I have used this fragance for almost 9 years and wouldn't think of using another. Every man I have ever met comments on how wonderful I smell.

Although this perfume is very inexpensive, it has gotten me the most positive comments by people than any other perfume. Very distinctive
