Baldessarini Del Mar is for the man who has a discerning style and discriminating taste. He enjoys the finer things in life. Women are captivated by his presence. Rich, refined, and playfully indulgent, his scent is inspired by a leisurely voyage of discovery across vast oceans and exotic locations - a lush blend of mandarin, Earl Grey tea, and black pepper, blended with warm woods and exotic spices. Notes include Mandarin, Earl Grey, Black Pepper, Atlas Cedarwood, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Vetyver, Patchouli, Amber.

Quite powering aqua and you'll definitely stick out in the crowd but just don't overspray. Woody, a lil spicy and that earl grey give it a kick that makes it different than any aquatic I've worn. One of the best from Hugo.

  • LESTAT08/07/2007

tried it the other day its not all that..Doesnt last long and its too subtle.. you canot even smell it on yourself after an hour or two.Hugo just cannot do it

  • GERT JAN VAN WATERINK06/27/2007

Well, I even think Del Mar 'Caribbean Edition' is better. Much much better. It's not a simple lighter rip-off of the original Del Mar. The Caribbean Edition is a bit more luxurous, with notes of cinnamon, vanilla and other green leaves. It's a more powerfull fragrance and it gives you that distinct feeling of being Bond in the Bahama's. And most important, it lasts longer than the original Del Mar. The colour of the substance is a bit more greener too. Perfume Emporium MUST add this new edition to the Baldessarini range as well!

  • SERIEL06/26/2007

I really like the scent as it is warm & spicy without the strong musk. The only downfall is that it does not last very long. It only stayed on me for about 3-5 hours tops.

  • JUDE C05/17/2007

This stuff has a nice smell to it, but is averge. It does not seem to last and is quite light. If you like a light decent cologne for the day, then I guess this stuff is not bad. It is nowhere near sexy enough for me to wear out at night. I mean not bad stuff, but as far as I am concerned, spend your money on something a litte more original.

  • SOLARA04/28/2007

simply is not for me, totally make me sick, i like a lot the spicy/woody fragances, but the combination about licor or some spicy oriental base in ambrè make me feel an strong headache...maybe for an old elegant man its ok, but simply not for me...

  • MAURICIO04/14/2007

Hi, I recently sampled baldessarini Ambré, and like de ingredients sugest, it is a warm and sweet fragance, ver good in my oppinion and i can compare it to Dior Homme and L'instant. It is very different to the other boss colognes and It seem to have good lasting power also. I thing thi will be mi next buy. Good luck

  • R. SHREST03/29/2007

Okay sampled Del Mar again recently and on the test strip it held some promise as it came off rather clean and refreshing though a bit synthetic. A minute after I sprayed it on my wrist it quickly turned into something that was all over the place, just couldn't get the proper top notes as the exotic nature of the scent came on real fast dominating the initial clean aqua like notes. I don't like my aquas coming off as chaotic and unsettled though not saying it has to be one dimensional, spice and woods should make their presence felt subtlely. Del Mar eventually settled into something that clearly wasn't distinctive and didn't project much edgy style or elegance. Do try it first on your skin before you make up an opinion on this. There others much better for the coming summer...

  • R. SHRESTHA01/09/2007

Has any of the cologne aficionados sampled the new Baldessarini Ambré as yet? It is being marketed as A sensual, distinguished fragrance that separates the men from the boys. The scent is described as a warm, woody oriental and showcases key notes of "...oak wood and whiskey, mixed with a fruity, floral accord and carried off with warm woody amber notes at the base. Looking forward to this oriental/woody cologne. And about Del Mar, when I sampled it, it didn't do it for me in the sense that it wasn't anything special. But will sample it again as I might as well have had a nose transplant after going through dozens of colognes. I went for MBI, quality cologne that.

  • PERFUME NEWBIE12/17/2006

Oooohhhh....this stuff is great. One of the top scents I have ever smelt in my life. It is all the things it claims to be and more. Left the other men's colognes at the perfume dept. dead in the water.

  • RAI07/26/2006

Awesome youthful fragrance this exotically spicy, energetically sweet and long-lasting outdoorsy/summer sport scent is.

  • X.G.07/01/2006

Definitely Hugo's best right next to Boss #6. Exotically sweet, sporty cool and long-lasting.

  • QUANTUM FIRE05/24/2006

A bit on the younger side but this sensually sweet, radiant and exotic aqua fragrance lasts pretty darn long and is great for summer days when the babes are out wearing very little.

  • ART HISTORIAN04/18/2006

Not particularly fresh or cooling. Or inviting or exciting for that matter. So it doesn´t matter that it´s refined. There are plenty of fragrances that work better outdoors. Even really cheap ones.

  • STEVEN04/08/2006

Definitely a woman pleaser. It's unique and will get you the extra attention that you normally wouldn't get without this. Go for it! Btw, I'm a newbie in this cologne world. Any cologne masters or masterettes out there feel free to email me, just want to get your 2 cents on things, thanks! [email protected]

  • GARY N.03/25/2006

Although from what I've read that it's described by a few as an aquatic, I think this fairly recent addition to HB's lineup is a supersensual, radiant, exotic and sporty choice I made buying it.

  • ERMAC03/20/2006

This one is definitely in my top five! Young, sexy, exotic and energetic hit from Hugo is truly one of the best sporty-type colognes ever created for us guys and lasts very long too!!

  • JG02/26/2006

This is a good scent, but it doesn't remind of an aquatic scent at all. Maybe it's just me, but when did a rich pepper smell turn into "aquatic"? Everyone makes it sound like Aqua Di Gio or in that realm. DM smells more like a spicy/sweet scent IMO.

  • ONG-BAK02/22/2006

Awesome new aquatic from Hugo is cool, crisp, very sensual, exotic and sporty. Beautiful women of all ages are always asking me what it is I'm wearing wherever I go. Good lasting power as well.

  • Z.G. ARCHIBALD02/19/2006

Overall THE BEST from the designer and one of the best aquatics out there right next to AdG and GBL. This exotic and sexy semi-spicy/woody aroma is long-lasting and worth every penny.

  • JASON1302/07/2006

Thanks for the feedback! 212H20 having that kind of staying power with some of those greats is impressive! Yea I read where Essential has "Time-Released Technology" and that is impressive as well. I'll go ahead and order samples and compare to Del Mar and make a decision without having to buy all three! Don't want to add too many more to my collection because I'm trying to cut it down some. I have tried most of your suggested "related scents" and they are good to with exception of le roy solel. Again apprec. the info!!!

  • J. YORK02/04/2006

Hugo has done it again with this very sexy exotic aquatic that catches positive attention from anybody that smells it on me and has great lasting power.

  • TONY T02/03/2006

212 h20 is 1 of the longest lasting scents on the market hands down. up there with joop,D&G,dreamer and what the heck even aspen.it's freshness is unlike no other and essential is very fresh, spicy and unlike no other also.hard to believe but true about essential, (when you sense the scent fading rub where you sprayed and the scent comes back) it's true!!! aquaman is great also very spicy and uniquely different as is del mar. del mar is 5 star stuff very spicy/fresh. i like essnetial over del mar and del mar a tad bit over aquaman.related scents would also be bvlgari aqva, aw the freshness, le roy soleli, very citrusy and K.C. SIGNATURE. bro sample 1st and if you don't know where e-mail me antwian34@yahoo. geir, man abusson and hugh parsons original blue bottle are fantastic as well.

  • JASON1302/02/2006

ok I'm looking for my spring/summer 2006 scent and really like Del Mar but have seen on several posts where you give praise to Essential and 212 H2O. Neither of these two are sold where I shop so I will have to order samples from net. Give me an idea of similar scents to these and longevity of the two. I'm also considering Aquaman(Haven't smelled) and Eddie Bauer Pure(KCR with staying power but hard to locate). Thanks

  • WES CLEMENS01/14/2006

This sporty new aquatic from Hugo could become the next generation Cool Water in due time. Sporty, sexy, cool, crisp and rather masculine of its type. VERY long lasting also.

  • GRAMMATON CLERIC01/01/2006

This latest addition to the Boss lineup is a real winner among I'm guessing the aqua category. It's sporty fresh and loaded with some very exotic notes making it perfect for the summer and clubbing. This stuff also lasts quite long.

  • AQUARIUS4.712/26/2005

I haven't tried the original scent but on the quest for a new aquatic, I was suggested this one. Very cool, exotic, long-lasting and so far a mystery to many.

  • ROB H.12/19/2005

In my opinion, this particular aquatic is great for the warmer spring, summer and early fall days when the sun's out. It would have to be a test of sampling other aquatic scents (Cool Water, Acqua di Gio, Givenchy Blue Label, and Aquaman are some other aquatics) to determine if you think they smell like casual, summery, wintery or whatever occasion. Take care, Anthony.

  • ANTHONY12/19/2005

havent bought this yet, but was wondering when u should actually wear an acquatic...time of day or time of year would be helpful...thnx

  • DUC12/18/2005

Very sensual new aquatic from HB is this exotic and sporty ocean breeze that refreshes the mind and cleanses the soul.

  • A. BOREALIS12/05/2005

Very attractive and exotic new aquatic fragrance from HB is great more for the spring/summer days and is a decent sleeper for the time being.

  • RX-812/02/2005

Awesome new aquatic from Hugo is a great substitute for Cool Water which I quit wearing 3 years ago after wearing it for more than 4 years straight for the most part.

  • BIGNUTZ11/26/2005

COOL, CRISP, EXOTIC, SEXY, REFRESHING AND FAIRLY LONG-LASTING.............WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR IN AN AQUATIC??

  • M.R.11/23/2005

Best aquatic out there right now! Cool, exotic and very relaxing and to me it's Hugo's best to date.

  • SOMA11/16/2005

Have not worn it much, but Baldessarini Del Mar is a great fragrance from what I can tell so far. Has a distinct aquatic scent which subsequently presents a mildly sweet, underlying scent after being on the skin for a while. This fragrance has strong staying power which is a plus. I notice most Boss fragrances share this similarity. I have to be honest, although this fragrance is new and people are dying to buy it, I could not give it a 5 star rating. That title is shared by the likes of the original Baldessarini, for example. Now, that is 5 star.

  • STEVE YOUNG11/15/2005

Fresh and sexy! Wonderful new and clean aquatic fragrance is probably the best I've ever smelled from Hugo Boss and is definitely a keeper in my collection.

  • TONY T11/07/2005

and lacoste essential is on my left.the verdict, essential rocks and this is a good effort but iw would not say great.i like bvlgari,s better and have got 2 try ms. herrera's but trust me fellas this is not a must have unlike essential.also my fav aqua is aquaman hands down.

  • HAROLD11/03/2005

THE BEST MENS' AQUATIC FRAGRANCE, EVER!! Clean, crisp, sexy and exotic as hell!!

  • N2DBLU10/30/2005

Truly without a doubt, THE BEST new aquatic out there! Obviously yes, I used to wear Cool Water way back in the day and eventually Acqua dio Gio which eventually became one of the most popular all-around fragrance for a man to wear. I think I'll stick with this "Cool Water" for a while not to mention, I think I'll definitely get around to sampling the other new aquatic- Givenchy Blue Label.

  • SPACE PILGRIM10/25/2005

Right next to Aquaman and Givenchy Blue Label, it's the next best aquatic scent out there and just became part of the top ten colognes in my collection.

  • CYNTHIA E. YORKBOROUGH10/11/2005

SOOOOO SEXY!!! My man loves this sporty-cool new breeze from Hugo and I can't hardly wait to smell him whenever the next time he wears it comes around. I am just anxious to see what your collection is like, Cologne Pimp Master Rob H.!! :-)

  • NEIL10/01/2005

recommeded to pull some fine young filly's, it worked for me and they love a bit of it.

  • W.B.09/26/2005

WOW!! BALDESSARINI HIT THE JACKPOT WITH THIS LADY-KILLER. AN ABSOLUTE WINNER IN MY BOOK!!

  • MARIO JUSTINIANI09/13/2005

Good heavens, Holmes . . .er I mean Rob, you have ucannily anticipated my every move! I happened to be at the dept store yesterday and passing the men's fragrance counter gave this one a try, principally because the tester was readily available, as I am also not a fan of H.B. scents; and no, I hadn't read this post. Wonderful surprise. Placid like Salvador D's Laguna, yet more interesting and complex, imho. Great scent and , for an acquatic that does not rely on sour notes, (you know who) great logevity too.

  • MARCO TESTAVERDE09/12/2005

A clean, crisp, citrusy and cool ocean breeze that's sporty and apparently a rather seductive fragrance being that all the hottie women go crazy whenever I wear it.

  • SYNERGY08/01/2005

A nice aquatic/citrusy blend that really works well on my skin and my girl loves it.

  • ROB H.07/29/2005

Never been that big of a fan of Hugo's fragrances but this one is probably the best I've smelled from the designer. It's a sporty and yet sensual ocean breeze that attracts plenty enough from the women. Maybe this will substitute AdG for you, Mario J.
