...It is a lovely perfume, which I as an older consumer can wear every day and it isn't overpowering like some others I have tried.

  • MAER05/19/2012

I'm so happy to have it, it's so special, so distinct, so unique.

  • MARI12/09/2010

I got it as gift many years ago and my partner was to the liking so I did not use it very much. After the break up I needed something new and the smell of Birmane was it. Guys love it, women want to know what it is and all I can say is....just get it, it is FANTASTIC. The best smeling perfume in the planet.

  • LINDA02/15/2010

This was a gift from my husband during a vacation to Cabo in 2001...oh my....I have loved it and worn it ever since. But it is beginning to be very difficult to purchase. I don't find the fragrance to be overpowering; just the right scent for any day.

  • DEIDRA09/10/2009

Love this scent. Got some for my birthday for me!!!

  • FANNY07/10/2009

It is a very interesting and airy perfume.. It reminds me a lot of Casmere Mist by DK

  • STEVEN11/28/2007

Sometime stop a man what he thinks. This perfume is on top and draws attention with it's cheeky fruity fragrance

  • GENEVRA04/21/2007

I finally tried Birmane today after reading the reviews. I was expecting something warm and purring like a panther, but I got a surprise. Birmane is a poignant, dewy fragrance, with something in it that strikes a deep familiar chord with me (I think it's the fresia). Birmane stays cool and shady with its flowers, but blooms and lasts beautifully on skin...there is no Oriental heaviness anywhere. If anything I would say Birmane could use a touch of something sharp, a little more cedar, to balance the loveliness... it's almost too romantic. It's a beautiful scent though, deeply feminine and complicated enough for a wide range of ages. (Don't overdo it though...and maybe throw on a touch of Tsar to even it out.)

  • BARBARA12/07/2006

I've never had so many compliments on a fragrance as I have this one! I love Birmane.

  • CATHERINE02/06/2006

been trying to buy it most uk stores told me it discontinued, great finding it. I'm always told I smell great by men & women.

  • CK11/25/2005

This scent to me, is a fruity- oriental with woody notes on the dry-down. I almost gave this one away at one time because it was a edt., I like eau de parfums because of the oil-base. Some edt. don't do good on my skin but I think you will like this fragrance. It's not so-run-of-mill either. Someone will want to know what you are wearing! It is listed as a Floral-fruity, but I say otherwise. It's all depends on the olfactory senses,(nose). Notes are: Peach, freesia kumquat, mid: Jamine, white rose, red lily, Base: Cedarwood, tonka bean white musk! They wou't guess this fragrance!

  • BARBARA11/14/2005

Five out of five stars!! Hope they never stop making this one. It's been my signature for 5 years!

  • MAYA11/04/2005

Hello there, I was wondering if you could tell me what this scent actually smells like, I hope it's a nice oriental? Are there any other fragrances that this reminds you off? Oh and how would you describe it? I see that you like it, so I was just wondering if you could help... Most other ladies that posted here were posting for a different fragrance so I was curious to find more about it. Many thanks, Maya

  • TIFF11/02/2005

  • SYLVIE09/18/2004

Hi Claudia, thank you very much for your nice info. Yes, I know FEMME by Rochas and I like it from the first sniff!!!! FEMME is a very fruity-delicious (plum/peach) and ultra-feminine fragrance!!! I love fruity-chypre-scents and all the wonderful warm, spicy-vanillic and legendary orientals. How nice that you know GEM by Van Cleef & Arpels :-)) Greetings from Germany!

  • CLAUDIA09/14/2004

You are right, Gem is magnificent. I miss it alot too. If you like Gem there's a good chance you'll like another fruity chypre Femme by Rochas.

  • SYLVIE08/12/2004

I miss here the divine *GEM* (1987! by Van Cleef & Arpels). One of the worlds very best fragrances!!!! Mouthwatering, ultra-feminine, delicious scent. Magnificent!!! It's now a hard-to-find-fragrance and not very popular. So I'm wondering that Parfume Emporium does not sell it?!?! I recommend this WONDERFUL *GEM* by Van Cleef & Arpels from the bottom of my heart to every feminine woman!!!! Try a test - it's pure BEAUTY in a bottle - I swear! A complex, full-bodied, soft and well-balanced masterpiece of perfumery. Here a subscription: Top Note: Peach, Rosewood, Coriander, Cardamom, Plum (fruity spicy), Middle Note: Jasmin, Rose, Tuberose, Orris, Ylang-Ylang, Carnation (EXOTIC floral), Base Note: Patchouli, Vetiver, Civet, Amber, Vanilla, Moss (woody, warm). It's a fruity Chypre! Not similar to ANY other perfume I know. Glamorous fragrance with an unbelievable staying-power. It's breathtaking and excellent. This is my very best secret tip to you, ladies!

  • LLL07/29/2004

...but probably not for everyone. Apparently the fruit notes in this don't work for everyone. But I find it interesting and very nice---it doesn't smell like evrything else--and there are A LOT of perfumes out there that just smell like each other! This is not one of them! Nice!

  • GIOIA03/24/2004

It takes a unique woman to want to wear a unique fragrance- Birmane is it! It is warm, sensual, and more sophisticated and classy than many other fragrances on the market! I always get compliments, and it must just work great with my chemistry! It certainly isn't for everyone, so this is why there are thousands of fragrances... thank goodness, the entire world can't wear the same thing!

  • XX100110/21/2003

Fruity notes went sour on me and the scent has completely changed after a while from soft-aromatic to YUCK-sweet, sour cologne. Oh my God!!!!

  • DAGMAR01/23/2003

This parfum is a great one. Is elegant and classy. One of the best in the market

  • CATHY01/22/2003

Birmane is a sophisticated, sweet, fruity fragrance, and I receive many complements when I wear it. It's even nicer when layered with the body lotion. If you like fruity, try "Sexy Graffiti," "Babylone Tower," and "Marina de Bourbon" too!

  • TAMAR01/12/2003

Patricia describes this well and I like this perfume a lot. But, isn't it a more for-older-women smell?

  • DEBRA08/20/2002

When I wear Birmane I get compliments. When I wear any other fragrance, I don't get compliments at all. It definitely gets attention, and I choose to wear nothing else. Glad I found it here at Perfume Emporium!

  • TAMIKA 05/03/2002

My fiance loves it, I love it! It's sexy, subtle and sophisticated!

  • AIMEE01/19/2002

:)I was just reading others comments about this...I've never even tried it, so I don't know what you mean. I do know that another poster used my name to post nasty comments. Oh well... :\

  • DIANA01/15/2002

My favorite perfume. Love the smell and attention from other people.

  • THINK PINK12/29/2001

Fruits plus alcohol... YUCK!! Aimee, where are you?

  • AIDA12/12/2001

Why did I buy it? Because I'm crazy!

  • BB11/27/2001

    Fruity...and a very boring fragrance.

  • SUSAN11/26/2001

Birmane does not wear well at all. It's unfortunate because it did smell really good and I won't mention the price I paid at retail before I knew of these wonderful websites.

  • DINA11/16/2001

Birmane is a warm, fruity fragrance, but with a slight citrusy note, too. It was very alluring and interesting to me when I've tried it in a perfumery, I bought it but I'm not crazy about it now, and I wear it very rarely. It is not very longlasting, it somehow changes its fragrance after a while, and becomes plain and uninteresting, kind of boring perfume.

  • PATRICIA10/07/2001

Birmane is an aromatic fragrance, floral, fruity and woody, rich, warm and sensual, but not too strong nad not overpowering. If you're sick of oriental perfumes, and they give you a headache, but you want something warmer anyway - try Birmane. It is warm, but somehow in the same time delicate. It has delicate aromas of peach, freesia, white rose, lily and cedar, and some exotic woods, too. Birmane is inspired by the precious stone - ruby, and its home - Burma.

  • VIKI09/17/2001

I have mixed feelings about it. It seems nice and unique to me, it's aromatic, but not really oriental, heavy tipe of scent. But at the same time SOMETHING is missing, I don't know what.

  • ELISE02/22/2001

I adore Birman. Maybe because I'm Burmese and I have a Birman cat etc...Anyway, I love this perfume! It's so exotic and fruity and classy-just plain gorgeous. I wear it every day and people stop and ask me about it. It's definately my signiture fragrance. Champs Elysses is also quite similar to it. Birmane is more poignant though than Champs'. A truly wonderful perfume.

  • LEAH F01/28/2001

This was suggested to me by the fragrance lady and I just ordered my third bottle, fabulous and people stop you,it is to die for, greazt!!! LEAH F
