    best I have ever used

  • TROJAN MAN08/17/2016

...I have been wearing this cologne for the last 25 years. I ran out 5 or so years ago, and spent hundreds of dollars on new cologne but none compete. I always got compliments on this one, but never any on the others. Funny thing is, I had a class reunion this weekend, 25 years, and a classmate greeted me with a hug and said yep, you still smell as sexy as you did in school.

This scent is extremely lemony-citrusy. It has a very nice smell, but it's one of those that I can't even tell I am wearing 15 minutes after I've put it on. Maybe it's just my body chemistry. It does have a great smell, but I just can't get it to last.

is right about it being similiar to eau savage, but i love savage and this is ok. to save some doe get this, better fragrance eau savage.

This is my first time on this site because I was trying to find my favorite cologne for the hot weather in Summer - Bowling Green. I was upset when they stpped making it because for me I think it smells like Summer ! I think it's great ! Im glad I found it here !

Haven't worn this citric-vetiver and very original scent in several years but was always complimented highly way back in the day.

For the followup to the very successful Grey Flannel, Geoffrey Beene decides to take a very different direction with Bowling Green. This time he settles on a citrus-fougere concept. Unlike most modern fougeres, Bowling Green actually has durability. A number of basenote fixatives are employed, most notably olibanum (frankincense) which contributes a certain spiciness at the end. otherwise, expect a prominent lime note up top, and more spices in the middle (most notably cinnamon). this is probably best for spring days, and its unintrusive nature makes it suitable for office wear as well. one more top-notch geoffrey beene value.

Allright, I'm kidding. What teenager has ever heard of this one? They're overdowsing with Curve. Too bad because while they couldn't pull off Minotaure or Dunhill rustic box '34, Bowling Green could work! I'm not a big fan of aromatic tonics, except in my gin, but this one is at the head of the class. It smells fresh yet rich in the bottle. Upon first application it resembles Eau Savage, which ain't too shabby--and within a few minutes of the basil tone leveling off, it's once again rich and complex as well as fresh. Get it while you can.

Never cared for it. If it's discontinued I certainly won't miss it any.

  • SHAMY02/08/2004

  • ROB12/12/2003

    i love this fragrance.

  • FRANCIS12/10/2003

Absolutely right. Monsieur de Givenchy is one of the best kept secrets in men's fragrances. Bowling Green is great too.

So much better than Grey Flannel (Geoffrey Beene 1976) it’s hard to believe they both come from the same designer. Bowling Green’s citrus-mint opening is unique; I’ve never smelled anything quite like it. It’s sweet, sharp and fresh. Then that impression fades a bit in the drydown (but not totally) and you’re left with spices, spices and… spices. Which is. All. Good. We like the spice! (Must… not quote… Dune… arrrgh….) All in all, a pretty tasty treat for the olfactory, and a fragrance that I think could be worn in just about any season. A bit light, though. Once the top notes depart (more quickly than I’d like), the drydown leaves it a “personal space” fragrance. It stays delicious, but it stays close to the skin. I generally prefer a little more “projection” than Bowling Green’s got. But still, no denying that this EdT is top drawer stuff. Far superior to the current fragrance “zeitgeist.” It looks like Beene’s discontinuing this (No! Kill the Flannel instead!) so as has been mentioned here, buy in bulk where you can find it – and stick the bottles in your wine cellar!

THE LADIES GIVE IT A TEN!!!!

  • DRSRJ1312/04/2003

A masculine blend of citrus and spice which is a refreshing departure from the gay designer fragrances inflicted on men these days. I pray they continue to make it, but when in doubt, buy in bulk. If you like this then I recommend you try Monsieur de Givenchy for more formal wear. A soapy and lavender scent which is fantastic.

  • RICH10/27/2003

This a cologne that isn't neither sweet nor woodsy but a clean/fresh scent. Loved it at first spritz!

  • MASTERMACKER09/24/2003

At work or a weekend picnic this is a classic fragrance. Fresh. Brings a smile to women's faces.

  • ALEX09/12/2003

great for the summertime cocktail party or dinner. Too strong for the office. One of the best "green" scents made -- minty, lavender and more. Lasts forever.

  • SERGE09/08/2003

Been wearing it for years, best kept secret in the world. Recently married and the wife loves it :-)...I guess I won't have to change that, lol.

  • MOONRAT08/23/2003

Starts with a strong citrus lime scent then dries down to a warm spicy scent. Good value for the price. Very different from his Gray Flannel scent.

  • JOHNNY BOY08/10/2003

Very nice one of my favorites kind of like YSL pour homme but a little more subtle I heard that it was discontinued what shame

  • MPM07/24/2003

I first encountered BG back in 1989. When I first smelled it, I had to have a bottle right then. It is a springtime, outdoors, country fragrance. It's not that popular now, but I'm glad they still make it because it's one of the great colognes of all time.

  • JOHN02/27/2003

THE FINEST COLOGNE I'VE EVER USED

  • RYAN01/08/2003

I'm not sure if it lasts too long though, or if my senses just become muted to it, but it's one of my favorite colognes along with Bay Rum (which isn't sold on perfumeemporium :(

  • ROB12/19/2002

THIS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES, VERY FRESH AND CLEAN...

  • PAT B11/30/2002

This scent is really nice ! I am suprised there is not rating for this. It is similar to Grey Flannel. A bit strong when first applied -you don't need alot- but mellows quite smoothly in about 15 min. I first tried it at a dept store downtown and wasthinking it was ok. When I left the store a girl at the crosswalk asked what I was wearing and that it smelled so nice. I was hooked. I still get coments. i find it better than the stock "Obssesion, Ferinheight, Polo" etc. (though i have Obssesion and wear it occasionaly) Try it !
