I bought a bottle these days and have to say: I like it a lot. First I thought, hey what's wrong with this strange concoction? But I have a very good and trained nose and I found out that the fragrance smells very much like anise, fennel and vanilla. And I can smell a touch of fine leather in the dry down. The bottle was so "cheap", but the fragrance smells very delicious and gourmand. It's hard to find now. I get a lots of compliments for this scent. It warm and inviting and soft.

very euro scent-I wore it years ago. Bought another bottle at 34 years old and people loved it on me. few co -workers spayed some on they smell great. Then 2 out of the 5 smelled like bug spray- I notice it. This was just a fun one for me. It took me to the late 80's. Had people love it on me that they purchased it. It depends on your body chemistry. I own about 40 bottles of perfume. This is just a old fun one.

Whatever they are trying to pass off as Colors now is not the same as the formula in the clear bottle from the 80s. I recently bought a bottle and found, to my horror, that it smelled like Angel! The stuff I remember smelled citrusy at first, then dried down to a warm woody, vanillic scent, but in a unisex sort of way. Why do some companies insist on calling a product that they so radically changed the same thing?! Thumbs way down to Benetton for trying to pull the wool over our eyes! My rating is for the ORIGINAL formula.

I'm with DMarie! I started wearing this when I was in the seventh grade back in 1987. I must admit that the smell does a little different but it's still good. I'm looking for the bath gel and body lotion. I wear Lauren, Yves St. Laurent, Gucci and I get the most compliments when I wear Colors!

  • KELLY10/14/2008

I just bought a bottle online thinking it'll be the same as the one I bought back in 1991. Benetton must have changed their formula since then, it smells totally different; the current one is very cheap water-down smells; 98% doesn't resemble what it used to smell. No wonder the price tag has gone down quite a bit too and they are sitting on discount store shelves now. What a disappointment.

  • DMARIE10/06/2008

I like Colors and I always have this came out when I was in 7th grade and I wore it then and about 2 years ago I bought another bottle I like it and now I am ready for another bottle! If you pay attention it smells similar to Amor Amor by Cacharel and a bit like Betsey Johnson too! Smells good!

  • RUFFDAWG07/15/2007

Very unique scent, theres nothing else that smells like Colors. Not at all cheap smelling. Dont pay any attention to the bad reviews this is getting, windex, air-freshener, etc., I think not! I think they're too young to appreciate Colors for what it is. Its not at all like the scents of today, for me each whiff of it tells a story from another time, as another reviewer mentioned, scent is tied to memories, Colors can take me back like no other scent can. Just apply it lightly & give it a fair chance, you'll find its not a bad scent at all. Its a very nice casual scent, and for the price you cannot go wrong! I remember when it was released, I liked it then and I still like it now. Colors is a total classic & I will always have some in my collection at all times.

  • JANESE04/03/2007

I seen that Wally World has this scent in Car Freshners now! Very Stinky!

  • GRETCHEN03/21/2007

I find this to be flowery at first smell- maybe the sharpness of the marigold in it. I wonder if it's the vanilla that gives is a "smokey" feel to me on the dry down-as in a tobacco smell, not burning cigarette smell. I've only tried this recently; back in the day Benetton was just beyond what I could afford. To call it a "passe" perfume because one wore in jr. high/high school is ludicrus- scents truly are connected to memories- I guess for some it's a bad association. I am glad to be able to enjoy this one with an open mind!

  • JB05/21/2006

I dont agree with your statement. I have recently seen thierry Mugler's "Angel" at Wal, well, Wally World, as you call it & many other "expensive" "exclusive" "good" newer perfumes are sold there too, and at other discount stores as well.

  • JB05/21/2006

This scent smells wonderful on my male skin :o) Not feminine, just fresh & clean, its a really uplifting, happy scent. MUCH better than the mens version IMO. I've been wearing both the womens & the mens COLORS off & on since the 1980s & I think they both still smell the same, I dont notice a change in scent as a few posters have mentioned. It isnt available as EDP or cologne strength as it used to be, it is only an EDT now, maybe thats why it seems different to some? The bottles and packaging have changed Also. I have a vintage bottle of EDP from the 80s that I have been very carefully saving and it smells exactly the same as my newest bottle of edt, only much stronger.

  • MIMI08/20/2005

Years ago I liked it, however it seems to smell different now. It smells more manly now, and the scent is so faint you have to poor the whole bottle on to smell it. somethings different about it these days

  • NICOLE06/23/2005

Not an every day perfume I use. I only have a tiny dab on bottle and never smelled it before I got it as a gift. It's been around awhile, and I guess was big in the 80's. But just because it's selling cheaper in the stores doesn't mean it's bad. I've smelled alot worse than this, and I saw burberry in walmart. Burberry isn't out of style at all! So don't judge it till you try it. This is still nice.

  • SANDRA06/13/2005

You have to be in a special mood to wear this one, it kinda gives you a headache because it is too strong and it tends to smell like men's perfume.... a little bit masculine for my taste. Now the scent stays on all day long, too bad w/ this one !!

  • EILEEN11/28/2004

I love this scent. It is timeless.

  • JODIE09/02/2004

Nasty. I used to love this stuff in 7th grade when I didn't have a clue...and that was 15 years ago! I can't believe they still sell this junk. This is not a fragrance, it's a house hold cleaner.

  • CANDI07/05/2004

Summer Friday nights being dropped off w/friends by mom at the mall to hang out....Acid wash Denim Jean skirts...Jelley shoes...Duran Duran pin on you Guess Jean Jacket. Yes this is what the smell of this fragrance brings to mind and goes well with. Times have changed and I have grown up.

  • WENDY05/02/2004

I found that it smell very different on different people.... I love it on me and get lots of complements when wearing it!

  • NUNYA03/29/2004

This perfume doesn't seem to well, just look @ all of the negatives--not good sign!!

  • PATTYCAKES03/17/2004

Given as a gift. Kinda smelled like cologne to me.

  • NAJLAH12/25/2003

This was my very first fragrance. One of my schoolmates wore this and I liked the smell. Anyway, I got sick of it soon and started wearing Olilily, which I liked much better. When I smell it today, it takes me back to school days.

  • MIWAKO12/12/2003

I bought a 1 oz bottle because I've been going though 80's New Wave nostalgia. The bottle certainly doesn't have the glamour of Guerlain or Chanel but it's design wasn't meant to be "bombshell" or ultrafeminine. If you were around when this fragrance came out, it totally matches the time it was made for. It's a bolder sweeter fragrance that has as one reviewer describes a "watery" note and just a hint of citrus. If you are used to the sort of dewberry & dessert or ultra floral smell of most of today's fragrance this will take you by surprise. 80's fragrances for the most part were very distinctive. (Not that I like all or even most of these fragrances but...) Giorgio, Poison, Liz Claiborne, Lauren, Passion, Coco, Gucci #3, Obsession, Paris, Eternity, Boucheron, 273, Knowing, Must de Cartier, and of course Colors were all very distinctive from one another unlike todays fragrances where Marc Jacobs smells like Beyond Paradise smells like Bora Bora. And Lolita Lempika smells like Angel etc etc. (I do like Angel though.) 80's fragrances are like the 80's you either loved 'em or hated 'em.

  • RUBYGLOOM09/08/2003

I used to like this a lot, and I get tons of compliments when I wear it. It's a bit overpowering for me, though, and I got sick of it fast.

  • KATHY L.01/28/2003

Colors by Benetton is a wonderful scent that lasts and lasts. I have never found one I like better

  • MISSELIZA12/30/2002

This scent is one of the only scents that i can wear all day at my office. I get quite a few compliments on this scent when I wear it. The bottle design does leave alot to be desired however.

  • JANESE12/11/2002

You can really tell how well the public perceives a fragrance by were it is sold. If its expensive and sold exclusively at select department stores for years its good. When you find it at Wally World and your local drugstore for practically nothing, people must not like it. Just like Colors. you can buy it by the quart at Wal-mart.

  • MEGAN MARSTON12/06/2002

I can't believe they still make this scent and people actually buy it. I wore until about 1991. I used to carry a bottle of the perfume around with me in my backpack during freshman year of highschool. I put my backpack in my locker one day and the bottle broke. My textbooks smelled like Colors for the rest of the year. I began to hate it thereafter. It was a great perfume until K-Mart started selling it. That turned it into a passe perfume.

  • JENA11/04/2002

I have read others comments on this scent and I totally disagree. I think this is a great scent. Although it is totally 80's it takes me back to my high school days and with its fun clean scent.

  • J.09/27/2002

This is just nasty, and I don't usually have many perfumes I absolutely can't find anything good about. It really does have a cheap smell, and reminds me of perfume that is old and has gone "off."

  • YVETTE06/11/2002

Nice name, stinky perfume-smells weird. For people who are in some sort of '80's time warp and confuse clothes with perfume. Don't waste your money.

  • A.06/03/2002

I remember when this came out. My then-best friend, in all her youthful idealism, bought into the Benneton ads 100%, thinking she was making a pro-diversity statement by reeking of it. She used to steal the scent cards out of magazines in Dr.s offices when she ran out of it. It's sweet and spicy, but with a watery note that makes it headache-inducing. Too strong. Cheap-smelling.

  • KIMAIASIERRA04/05/2002

I think this scent is as ugly as the bottle.

  • CHRISTINE ROSS07/20/2001

Is it still possible to get Colors Cologne the EDT does not have the same scent.please reply [email protected]
