Wonderful soft scent.Has not changed one bit over the years

  • ROBERTA HARRIS09/17/2013

This perfume is so very elegant beyond any other description. It has been my favourite in the last 60 years.

  • LYNNE03/03/2013

This is the best carnation scent around!! I never tire of this!

  • MEODOWLARK08/23/2012

So fresh, feminine carnation fragrance. It smells rich. I was in 20'swhen one of my customers wore it and I could not get enough of it when she was around. She gave me a bottle for Christmas that year. I was hooked. As years went by it became harder to locate. I would think of the this fragrance off/on. Then one day I was playing around on the computer and found these web sites selling french authenic perfumes. OMG I am wearing Caron's Bellodgia again and feel like I'm in my twenties again even thou I just had my 61st birthday. A special note does not both my allergies like these new fragrances that all have the smelling base. I think they call them elevator fragrances. I do receive many complements mostly from men. At a recent wedding for my greay niece over half of the guests gave me compliment: O you smell wonderful! It is difficult to find the lotion which is heavrnly. I love Bellodgia, evrn like saying the name.

The first time I enjoyed the scent of Bellodgia was on my lady supervisor at the office of one of the first jobs I had in 1953. I was 20 years old. I remember it was a floral scent which I loved, I used it for many years after and can't remember why or when I stopped. Yesterday, Bellodgia came to mind as I was leafing through a magazine looking for ideas for Christmas gifts. I plan to check out the perfume counters in shops to see if I can find it again.

  • JROZIE07/20/2009

The last time I ordered the EDP spray (forget which online store) it came in a purple box instead of the white one. The smell was totally different and just horrible. I sent it back. Does anyone know if this is the new packaging or if the white box is still available? Thanks

If you are tired of cheap fragrances of the last fifteen years that smell like apples, pinapples, or just plain cotton candy, this is what a true perfume is all about. Very feminine, so you won't have to worry about your husband or boyfriend wanting it like the other unisex colognes of today. Bellodgia is so classy, and it must be well-made with high quality ingredients because it lasts all day. Very subtle, but has a presence that stays close to the skin. I love it in spring and summer because there are no woods or orientals notes: just a beautiful, simple floral.

When I was younger I loved this perfume but the store that carried it in my somewhat small town closed. In hopes that I would find it again some day, I kept the bottle in the top drawer of an antique dresser. As I was digging for something else, there it was!... and now here it is! WOW!!! With a smile on my face I rate Bellogdia EXCELLENT-of course.

  • CHARLOTTE__SOMETIMES01/19/2008

I love vintage fragrances, though they don't always agree with my chemistry. Thankfully Bellodgia does! You can almost smell this history in it, a spicy refined carnation with a tiny whiff of rose. Carnation is the star, though. Caron keeps carnation's reputation from being associated with memories of bad prom dates- carnation is elegant and underrated as a scent note!

  • JUSTLAF12/27/2007

My father used to buyn this perfume for my mother,it is such a wonderful scent.....then it became hard to find and the only place we could find it was in Cinncinatti at a store called The Perfume Counter. After my father passed, I used tobuy Mom a bottle every so often but now they don't sell it there either....but she still has a couple of bottles that were originally bout buy my father and you can still smell the scent after all these years even though the bottles are empty. I can't wear it myself but it was a most wonderful scent on my Mother and everytime I get a chance to smelll it it reminds me of my childhood...Wonderful , wonderful scent!

  • KAY09/20/2007

My aunt got me some of this perfume because it smelled so good on her. She said when ever she wore it, somebody would compliment her. Everytime I have worn it, somebody commented that it smelled like bug spray. I've never worn it again.

  • JULES01/06/2007

I have been wearing this for 6 years and get comments on it every day. It's rich but not overwhelming. I think it has become my "signature." I used to wear L'Air du Temps, (for years) and only tried Bellodgia at the suggestion of a sales person at Nordstrom. She said if I like L'Air du Temps, I would love Bellodgia. And I do.

  • MCDEEK10/21/2006

i have an empty .5 oz bottle of Bellodgia that belonged to my grandma Bobby who passed away in 1970...it is a gorgeous little bottle that still has a faint scent to it. as a little girl i have such powerful memories of this fragrance that it is the only perfume i can wear again and again to this day w/o "getting sick of". It's so nice to find a scent that completely expresses how i feel.

  • JOHN08/22/2006

This scent is amazing. Its rarely worn by a weak woman....yet its sensual . The few women I know who have the Class to pull this off "Own its Scent". I adore its smell...even when they have left the room.

  • SUSANNA04/20/2005

This is a gorgeous scent. Warm, spicy and so sweet. Not overpowering in anyway. It drys down to a soft, warm comforting carnation scent. It is a nice daily perfume -- in comparison to Garafano by Villoresi -- which is much to expensive for daily wear. It definitely has more body and is less spicy --clove like thant Comme Des Garcons Red Series 'Carnation' as well. All in all a lady like scent that is just right for daily use. My only complaint is the edt is light -- and needs reapplying often. Ooo lala!!

  • LOUISE03/18/2005

It's interesting to see how the French perfumers have drawn inspiration from their predecessors over the last century. Take Bellodgia, for example. A spicy carnation scent: long-lasting, very sophisticated. Nicer (to my nose, at least) than Nina Ricci's L'Air du Temps which follows Bellodgia's fragrance notes fairly closely. Both are floral-carnation scents. Then in the '80s, YSL in turn, in developing a new fragrance, closely followed the formulation of L'Air Du Temps, substituting two major notes, and, voila, we have Paris. And while it's not a spicy carnation scent, it does ultimately owe its heritage to Bellodgia, a classic's classic. If you're a Bellodgia fan, wear it proudly and with panache. Bonjour!

  • MERMISS11/17/2004

A very deep, spicy, vintage carnation scent, *not* to be used with a heavy hand (is any perfume?). I can't see myself wearing this, but it is a lovely creation.

  • MORTICIA X.06/06/2004

I bought it ,too because of the great reviews! I love old classic perfumes but this is no perfume! It's some bug spray!

  • JROSIE01/30/2004

This is a lovely pure floral, made with real ingredients, that does not smell like all the things at the department store perfume counter. I get stopped by strangers all the time asking me what that wonderful fragrance is. Everyone's body chemistry is different and even the medications you take can affect the the scent of the perfume when you wear it. Since White Shoulders is no longer made by Evyan and is now completely ruined, the only frangrance I will wear is Bellodgia.

  • CHARLOTTE01/07/2004

I agree! I was so disappointed. For one moment I thought it was a very old bottle, it smelled like to old perfume.

  • MELODY11/11/2003

I purchased a bottle because of all the glowing reviews and I can't even give it away! Everyone hates it. What a nasty fragrance!

  • LISA09/12/2003

This classic is truly superb. Sparkling and light-very feminine.

  • CLAUDIE08/23/2003

This was a true favourite of my mother's and probably my first fragrance, if I remember correctly. It is definitely like stepping into a room full of carnations...that spicey, fresh, botanical smell that never fails to thrill and refresh you. It comes highly recommended to those who love a classic floral scent, and while it can sometimes be hard to find, it is well worth looking for it.

  • ELLIZA07/11/2003

lovely, truly lovely. the carnation translates as almost a cinnamon, with the depth of a bouquet, a sophisticated fragrance. it is not carnation in the same way white shoulders is -- this sparkles, pine, fresh. odd hint of chemical -- gasoline/pine odor, in the very early spray, but in wierd way tampers down into the sweet cinnamon/clove/carnation draw. embedded in rich, subtle rose. lovely. definately a mature perfume, however. not in the "granny" sense, but in the polished, sophisticated sense. on a teen, it would simply be baffling and might have a cheap feel.

  • NORMA05/01/2003

Delighted to see it's available again. Last time I found it was in Mexico. Love the scent. I agree it fades a little too fast. Brings back warm memories of special dates from 30 years ago.

  • LIBELLULE03/31/2003

No one liked it but me, they can't stand to smell me so I have a brand new bottle to sell. If anyone is interested email me [email protected]

  • THERE IS SOMETHING.....03/28/2003

edible about this scent! It's gorgeous, memorable to say the least. I bought without smelling just beacuse you gals gave it such wonderful reviews. Extremely good staying power too! EXCELLENT!

  • TINAB02/27/2003

Based upon the other posts here, I must be a real oddball. I bought this because of all the glowing reviews. When I sprayed it on my wrist, using a very small spray, I got a headache and became dizzy. Very odd--needless to say, I hated it. Waited and waited for the wonderful dry down, but this terrible chemical smell remained.

  • BILLY WELLS12/17/2002

Not only are the products great - so is Perfume Emporium. My order arrived in super fast time and in excellent condition. My wife is one happy, happy person.

  • YAMATOOTOME10/19/2002

unique, one of a kind....so noticeable.....

  • LIA10/15/2002

Unlike so many classic perfumes, this one is very modern in its freshness -- not powdery at all. Delicious, clean and warm, and appropriate for all occasions.

  • STEPHANIE07/18/2002

One of the best-smelling florals of all time. The only thing that keeps me from giving it an excellent rating is its staying power. Fades too quickly; all the same a lovely fragrance that somehow conjures up old, sweet memories of very comforting times, and people I loved very much.

  • K DEIBLER06/06/2002

much to expenseve...wish ir werent so!!!!!!

  • ESTHER05/27/2002

I'm almost 59 & have been using Bellodgia since I was age 21 (It was easy to find then). If the day ever comes when I can't find it anymore, I don't know what I'll do... but I just can't let myself think about that... too depressing.

  • BETH05/20/2002

This one is so hard to find. I really love the carnation notes - very unusual. Something in it bothers my skin, though- I get a rash from wearing it, but I love it so much, I wear it anyway!

  • NURSE PEBBLES05/11/2002

My bottle arrived today and it is WONDERFUL.....I love the scent....and so will you...

  • ALEXA04/06/2002

Years ago my mother gave m a small partial bottle of Bellodgia, and I have been seaching for it ever since. Can you believe I found a 0.5oz bottle of the real PEFUME tonight at a Salvation Army thrift store? I paid $5, high price for a thrift store. Girls, always check the perfume bottles at thrift shops. My bathroom shelf is loaded with expensive scents that I usually pay under $1 for!

  • RUTH AYRES03/01/2002

There really is no other fragrance like Bellogia and I, too, was thrilled to find it (at Louis of Boston). Why no perfume, only EDT? And yes, let's get powder, soap and Body Lotion....!!! Who do we have to call?

  • ZOË02/28/2002

Have been looking for Bellodgia for years and just discovered it's available. There is no other fragrance that comes close to this scent. So glad this magnificent product has been revived. I, too, would like to see the dusting body and body lotion once again.

  • AIMEE12/19/2001

Nice - but like many true single florals it has a tendency to smell like furniture polish at first..A warm floral(carnation); slightly sweet and buttery. Boyfriend's comment: Smells sandalwood-based.

  • MARI ANDERSON12/01/2001

Bellodgia is unique there is nothing to take it's place. I was devastated when it seemed to vanish from the market. I searched for another fragrance and found nothing comparable. I love this fragrance and wish I could pruchase dusting powder and soap as in the past. It has been my favorite for 30 years. I have often been asked what fragrance I am wearing.

  • SIMON WATSON10/20/2001

My fathers mother from Scotland used this scent & gave my mother a bottle in 1928, she used it all her life, my sister also used it and then I married an American in 1971 to find that her grandmother used it as did she. So across the Atlantic we had a love for the same scent. My wife, sister and mother have now died but my new girl friend loves it too. How wonderful.

  • JANE 09/29/2001

This is my absolute favorite scent. It has such warmth. I just wish I could make the fragrance last longer than it does on me; even the perfume seems to fade after a short time. But it's still worth it, and I recommend this highly.

  • LISA09/17/2001

I was shocked to see this, as I have been looking for years for Bellodgia for my mom. Along with remembering things from my childhood, this is one of the fragrances that brings back wonderful memories.

  • SANDRA08/28/2001

My mother always loved this fragrance. I had not heard of it or seen it in the marketplace for YEARS. Then, when visiting in Canada, I overheard a remark from a woman who found this fragrance on the internet. So, I purchased Bellodgia and have now made it one of my favorites!

  • ELLEN06/20/2001

This is the most fabulous perfume. When I was in college, my boyfriend went to the Caribbean with friends and brought it back for me...my first bottle of REAL PERFUME! The scent is heavenly...floral without too much sweetness...wonderful mildly spicy carnation scent. I was so thrilled to see it here because I had no source for it here in St. Louis

  • TATIANA03/27/2001

So rich and warm, sophisticated and alive, like a huge bouquet of carnations!

  • PHYLLIS BETHUNE03/22/2001

I once worked with a lady who wore this fragrence, and she just always had such a nice smell to her.she told me once her husband had purchased and brought it to the hospital when she had their first child, which made it real special to her.i always thought it was a wonderful fragrence, purchased for myself, and used it fol several years, then was unable to find anyone in our part of the country that handled it. would like to know who i might purchase from in this area. used the fruit de toile also i believe. and liked it also.
