    cacharel is the best

  • LOU LOU10/20/2012

I have been a huge fan of this aftershave since the early 80's - it is my favourite aftershave of all time - my hubby wears it & it is such a unique & gorgeous smell - difficult to find though so thrilled it's here!

  • ANNIE12/01/2006

I also dated someone who wore this, and while the relationship is long over and not one I care to recall in any detail, the memory of his fragrance is a pleasant one. I remember Cacharel as very soft, slightly spicy and a bit skin-scentish/clean-sexy. I always wanted to snuggle close to his neck because he smelled so good. I wouldn't wear it myself, but I would love to smell it on others. Never do, though. :-/

  • SOMNATH SANYAL11/24/2006

i first got this one on a return trip from Bangladesh in1984,used two more bottles since then.Spicy,a little lemon-ambery with a hint of lavender;this has been a favourite scent for me,I only wish if it could stay a little longer during the the hot summeronths.

  • KATHERINE08/27/2006

I dated someone who wore this and loved it for more reasons than one. It smelled wonderful, when he left the room it lingered and I thought of him and still do. What I also enjoyed is that you don't walk down the street and smell this as you do Dolce & Gabanna which is to tiresome and I prefer this such much more. It's gentler, refreshing and a joy to smell. I'm so glad it's still made.

  • GIGI02/27/2006

A man I dated in college wore this. I bought a mini of this just to remind me of the fabulous memories we had together...miss you andrew...wish we were not worlds away...

  • STEVE02/04/2006

A dainty floral is what Cacharel pour Homme is. It's pretty scary being able to describe a mens scent as a dainty floral but that is exactly what this is. I also detect some chocolatey notes, but i guess that is the nutmeg as there are no notes of chocolate in this fragrance. The floral notes that stand out most prominently are ylang ylang and lily of the valley. This is not your typical men's fragrance so it is definitely something that most women would feel comfortable wearing.

  • VICTOR RICHLAND CREIGHTON III12/19/2005

Wonderful sharp floral and ambery fragrance has the linger of Chanel and Boucheron and remains a bit of a sleeper compared to those designers' selections.

  • SANDOKAN11/09/2005

On myself, I cannot smell the spicy note after a few minutes, which is a pity. I like to smell this cologne on others, though - then I can still smell the spicy scent.

  • WES CLEMENS10/22/2005

To this day, I still think this is one of the all time greatest among luxurious and sophisticated fragrances. A good competitor against Boucheron and Chanel.

  • LECLERC09/13/2005

This has to be one of the most versatile, sophisticated, unique, masculine odors traped in a classy vial. Truly sets you apart from the other guy! It's very subtle but yet exudes the confidence and sophistication of of Monsieur Swann. It also avoids the trappings of the 'sweet sauce' effect. I think I'll keep on buying this one. My only quip is that, the smell is so fantastic that I wish it would last longer during the day.

  • MARIO JUSTINIANI09/04/2005

And if I ever grow up my life would be more serene but the world a duller place. BTW I just realized that in addition to the fact that people mentioned that it's like Minotaure, you were in fact the first person to recommend ROMA! One of my new loves. Be well, and give MB Individuel & Signature a try. Peace.

  • ERIC08/29/2005

I was disgruntled by your comments I must admit being as Cacharel is my favorite fragrance and I hate it being bashed by anyone, even from someone as highly developed and witty as you. When I saw Negative Virtues I just flipped. I have a bottle of The Baron and while I like it to me it doesn't make me quite as happy as it appears it makes you. To each their own. Be free, wear your fragrances and I'll enjoy mine and I'll try next time not to take affront to anyone else's comments since as you point out this is an open forum and I should grow up and accept it for what it is.

  • MARIO JUSTINIANI08/27/2005

ARE YOU BETTER THAN YOU? Once I get over myself, I promise I'll try and figure out if that was a typo on your part, a Freudian slip or a Zen koan. Meanwhile I want you to know that I do like this fragrance, esp the unusual nutmeg flavor. We apper to have similar tastes; I love Roma and like J.V. (as to Dreamer, well ...) In any case, the cool thing about this forum is that we get to pan or recommend, and I really appreciate the recommendations by Rob H, W.B., Tony T, Alex, Fernando , R.J and so many others without whose help--no they're not " MENTORS"-- I wouldn't have tried half of the colognes I have (Thanks). Mind you, sometimes I've tried them and thought they were off their rockers, but oftentimes I've found some hiden gems that I'd never heard of. However if anyone thinks I am pontificating and denying them their freedom to choose, or to put crackers in their soup, or any other basic constitutional right, then by all means feel free to get even with me by ignoring my vapid choices like Minotaure or Himalaya and buying those I said I can't stand. Quorum and Stetson would be a good place to start. (sigh)

  • ERIC08/17/2005

While I do like The Baron, it does put me a little too much in the mind of White Shoulders for women. The other two you enjoy, I don't much care for them. They make YOU happy not ME. Do you understand?? Can you see the FREEDOM of CHOICE we have in this day and age??? Who in the world made you my fragrance mentor - I certainly don't recall someone saying Mario would be his name. I have ALL the freedom to choose which fragrance that makes me feel unique and confident. This does those things for me. I also enjoy Dreamer, Roma, John Varvatos and a few others. Will you next be telling me that I am somehow better than me for choosing those fragrances since my choices are not as vapid as yours are? Get over yourself and leave others to enjoy their own fragrances.

  • MARIO JUSTINIANI08/08/2005

Sorry gentlemen but this is not a world class scent, as some readers might infer from all the 5 star reviews. Its man virtues are negative; it avoids all sorts of pitfalls which are all too common today, to wit: 1. It's not too sweet, in fact much of the sweet notes disappear during drydown. 2. It does not reek of vanilla. 3. It's unsusal, not trendy. However, it is not Mont Blanc Individuel, LTL's The Baron or Signature by St. Dupont. Max 4 stars.

  • JULIAN C. STRATUSON07/25/2005

I went through some trouble trying to find this fragrance at various dept. stores, malls & fragrance shops. Finally came across a place that actually had a lot of Cacharel fragrances including this one. At first when I had asked the clerk if she carried Cacharel, immediately she started bringing different womens' perfumes by Cacharel to the counter and I was like "WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, WAIT A SEC!!........I just want the mens' cologne named after the designer." Anyways after sampling it on the card as well as on my wrist, I was extremely happy with this luxurious, elegant, powering (but not overpowering) and utterly sophisticated aroma. Didn't take long for me at all to decide on taking a bottle home. I can't wait to wear it for all the ladies!

  • ERIC06/29/2005

Youngster's pay no attention at all to what Kenneth just said and don't try Cacharel at all. Keep wearing what you are wearing and leave this scent to those already wearing this and leave us Cacharel wearers alone (smile). This must be kept hush hush. It's hard enough to find as it is, don't need anymore people trying to buy it, especially since some women like wearing it also. Young ones STAY AWAY and GO AWAY!!!!!

  • KENNETH V. RICHELIEU06/15/2005

Even after nearly two and a half decades, it still stands tall against it's modern competition. Youngters, don't be afraid to try this highly sophisticated and luxurious fragrance even if it's a formula from more than twenty years ago. A note within this wonder to pay attention to is the ylang-ylang which is usually used by some higher up designers such as Chanel. Typically if a fragrance has this note then it's usually a good one and/or that it holds its value.

  • CONNO05/14/2005

One of a kind, bright but never overwhelming spicy-flowery men's perfume with a strong identity which is why it deserves to be a classic and ranks in my all-time top 5. It has a smooth, delicious and unmistakable bouquet which is based around an ylang-ylang and nutmeg core. Thank Lord it's relatively unknown to the masses. Someone mentioned that it has a slightly androgynous quality which might be true. A versatile, easy to wear scent, it has absolutely no contraindications.

  • ERIC05/03/2005

According to Basenotes it is still in production. Hope so cause I will be as devastated as you are if this stops production. There's just nothing like it. You know it no matter who is wearing it and of course some wear it better than others, but it is such a unique one of a kind fragrance.

  • BYME05/01/2005

Has been my first and eternal love and my fave scent ever since it first hit my nose back in 1992. This potion has incredible refreshing & energizing features, besides being masculine yet refined. Hard to get bored of. I keep on returning to this one, but recently realized it is no longer in production... What a shame.

  • ERIC04/28/2005

I just ordered some from this site. One of the all time favorites to me. First smelled it in 1985 or 1986, can't recall while in France. It shook me up hard. I purchased some from 99perfume and they sent me a fake bottle so I hope this is the real thing. There are others I enjoy but this is just WAY WAY up there as an overall favorite. That you can't find in Macy's or Bloomingdale's also appeals to me so the masses don't wear it like a Curve or Acqua di Gio. 10++++ stars.

  • TOMMY. A.04/11/2004

Very good - distinct and clean. Gonna buy me a large bottle again...

  • CHRIS02/26/2004

This is a great cologne, but I can see why it might be a hard sell in a cologne shop. Fresh out of the bottle, it makes you wonder why anyone would want to smell like THAT! However, thirty minutes after the alcohol evaporates, it smells good. Another thirty minutes and you wonder why everyone doesn't smell like THAT! It's great and unique: it's not another sickly sweet girly man cologne.

  • IRINA02/03/2004

every man should have it.I buy it for every person I date. They all love it.Smells like a real man.

  • JIM SAM01/28/2004

i had bought it when i was too young. 3 or 4 times. It's unique/different warm/spicy smell. But now i think it's too simple smell for me.

  • CHRIS COLOGNE01/20/2004

This is a good mens floral based fragrance with a touch of spice. It's not the best I've used but it is of good quality. It could last just a bit longer perhaps. It's perfect for use in the Spring, which is just around the corner. The bottle, with the metallic colored top and elegant writing is classy. It defintately signals the brand. between good and excellent. 4.5

  • AROOJ12/19/2003

I tried a mini bottle, loved it, and will now order the full size, thanks to the previous posts. Cacharel is quite different from other scents, and doesn't easily fit into the citrusy "light" and woodsy "darK" categories. Highly recommended; since it is difficult to find, you won't find many others wearing it.

  • JOVAN12/09/2003

Nothing compares to it. Nutmeg rulz. Make sure "repeat" function on your CD player works fine.

  • FRANCIS12/03/2003

when I first received my bottle I was disapointed at first, but as time went on I began to like it. The more I use it the better I like it. Very original. The sage and nutmeg are the controlling scents, but some citrusy is there too.

  • W.B.11/12/2003

A FINE SOPHISTICATED SCENT. IT BREAKS THE MONOTONY OF TODAY'S WANNABE-TO-SWEET FRAGRANCES. ALSO A SORT OF "PRESCRIBED" SCENT, MEANING NOT YOUR OVER-THE-COUNTER- CVS BRAND OF COLONGE. A KEEPER.

  • HAL10/23/2003

Lovely floral suited for a man. -Hal

  • RICH10/12/2003

I finally found the cologne that I say is near perfect in a scent that not only I enjoy but so do the people around me. Great!!

  • ALEX09/12/2003

Probably the only nutmeg based scent -- lends it an exotic, far Eastern aura. If you prefer redwoods to the concrete jungle, cedar to citrus, a crackling fire to a mobbed bar, subtlety to brazeness, this is your scent. Did I mention that women love it (on a man)? A one of a kind.

  • CHRISTOPHER05/11/2003

Entoxicating! THEE ONLY SCENT TO TOUCH MY SKIN SINCE 1987!!! The only reason I'm commenting is that I keep hearing rumours that it might be discontinued. !?@?#$%@

  • DAVID10/21/2002

This Cacharel scent is by far one of the finest men's cologne anywhere...for casual or business.

  • ERIC05/16/2002

Waiting patiently for my bottle (hint) to come. This fragrance evokes so many memories for me. It's not the easiest to find (department stores, drug stores) and that's a good thing far as i'm concerned.

  • ERIC05/10/2002

Found this fragrance while in the Navy in France. Off the Hook!! It's so different and exotic and unlike anything else.

  • GWEN12/01/2001

The aroma of this perfume is so hypnotizing....I wear it myself sometimes!

  • BRENDA07/25/2001
