  • EMILY SPRAGUE08/10/2012

I have been using this scent for 12 years and will not wear anything else! I get so many compliments on how "good I smell". Highly recommend!

  • ANGELA WALKER06/09/2012

love it hard to find in the dept stores

  • TAMIKA07/29/2008

This is a very light and fresh smell. I have received more compliments from both men and women on this fragrance than any other that I own. I guess it depends on your body chemistry.

  • DMARIE07/02/2008

I thought this was a weird smelling perfume. Masculine at first spay but then dries down to something very feminine. Bottle and perfume looks like an aquarium such a pretty color.

  • DMARIE06/29/2008

And at first spray smells like one too. I never get headaches from perfume but this Lanvin Oxygene changed that for me. It smells okay after the dry down but then the smell disappears. I don't know how anyone could like this perfume. It is a weird one.

  • ANNABELLE08/28/2007

The bottle is very attractive and easy to hold and the fragrance dispenses in a nice, even mist. Overall, I'm pleased with Oxygene. I would like to find the matching body lotion somewhere.

  • ANNABELLE08/28/2007

My grandmother, a fragrance lover herself, bought this for me a few years ago. I used it a few times and then it sat on my dresser for a while, neglected. I've recently rediscovered it and I'm so glad I did! Oxygene is a staple now. Living in a warm climate and working in an office where people have allergies, I stick with lighter scents. This fills the bill nicely with good staying power which is enhanced when layered with the shower gel. As the scent develops over the day, it just gets better and more mellow. Interestingly, no one has ever commented on my fragrance but I don't get that close to people either. I'm no expert at detecting the notes in a scent so I won't attempt to describe it that way. Suffice it to say that Oxygene is perfect if you want a lightly floral, feminine scent that is not sweet, sharp, powdery, citrusy or foody. It's just fresh!

  • EVONET07/29/2007

I have owned this perfume for quite awhile. I also bought untested and was surprised that I would like a scent like this. I also expected that such a scent would not last long on my skin. NOT the case here, I layered it with the body lotion and exactly 24 hours later, I still smell it going strong. I can't say this would ever be a favorite, but I could see it working very well for the office or for traveling as it is fairly subdued I think.

  • GALE10/20/2006

This perfume was wonderful on me from the time I appied it and all day as it changed and different notes were more aparrent, but then I prefer light scents with overtones of musk and sandalwood. This never turned "sour" on me.

  • ALLISON R.08/19/2006

I never thought I would like this scent, because I always found it priced so cheap and I thought the packaging needed work. I was so pleasantly surprised when I bit the bullet and bought it untested. It smells almost exactly like Acqua di gio, by Armani. The first part of the scent is sort of strong like Sunflowers, but it closes very fresh and aquatic. On my chemistry, these scents last longer than heavy oriental types. I'll put on a soft Philosophy scent, then layer it will Code by Armani, and at the end of the day the "softer" scent is the one that appears the most. So it's all in the way your body absorbs the fragrances oils and holds on to them. Many people say they wish aquatics or fruity types of perfumes would last longer, while it just may be their own chemistry.

  • ANNIE07/20/2006

Although, I'm not wild about Oxygene at first spray, it becomes very soft and clean on my skin as it dries down. And you don't have to wait a long time for that to happen. I detect the white musk & sandalwood, and something faintly like vanilla, though it's not listed as a note. But there's a creamy soapy quality (maybe the gardenia?). Considering how many "fresh" fragrances like this there are around, I think Oxygene is a classy representation. A man I didn't know gave me a rave review on it. He wasn't hitting on me, just wanted me to know I smelled good. It's a deceptively sexy fragrance, not a generic fresh air scent. But it's subtle sexy. Cheers for Lanvin. Ulitmately, though, it's up to individual chemistry. This one works well on me. :-)

  • AMY02/02/2006

good scent and not overwhelming but doesn't last. still i would recommend this one to anyone who wants a nice fresh clean scent for daytime

  • AVRIL07/22/2005

I wear Oxygene to work and always ( hours after I've started my day ) gotten compliments and inquiries on this fragrance . It is a constant reminder that the beauty of a fresg fragrance can be intoxicating and oh so alluring ...Someone in my path is always annointed by this fresh scent ...

  • BRANDY05/19/2005

This is so funny! My sister and this lady were racing to get to the last bottle and the lady's arms were overflowing with the last few bottles so she felt guilty and slowed down. So my sister snatched the last one!

  • LOUISE04/22/2005

I'm the second Louise posting here---initially posting in 11/04. Just wanted to mention that since there are two Louises on this Oxygene board. The first Louise (a three star) and then myself (a two star). :)

  • LOUISE04/22/2005

I appreciate your comments. Well stated and calmly stated. I like that. You aksed (that's the way people say it where I live!!) what sorts of fragrances we naysayers of Oxygene like. Well, like you, I enjoy perfume very much, and here's my list in no particular order to give you an idea of the things a naysayer likes. I had posted some comments on Oxygene below, and like I said there, I really like Lanvin's other two women's fragrances---Arpege and Eclat d'Arpege. I count those as two of my favorites. The other scents I use regularly are Joy, Aimez Moi, Nuit de Noel, Ferre 20, Paris, Sun Moon Stars, Beautiful, and Evelyn by Crabtree and Evelyn. I have 1/4 oz sample of Narcisse Noir by Caron and find myself liking that more and more. So, there's my list. I often am drawn to some of the real classics, as you can see. I also like a few of the newer ones as well. I frankly am glad that a lot of women like Oxygene, even though I'm not crazy about it for myself. If it means "long live Lanvin," then I think that's great.

  • LIZ03/28/2005

to all the naysayers, all I can say is perhaps your olfactory sense is off. I have received more compliments when I wear this one than any other fragrance I've worn, and I'm a serious perfume lover. Dan, maybe you were talking about Oxygene for men -- I haven't smelled that one. Usually the men's version with the same name as the woman's (marketed for co-dependent couples) is not as good on a guy as the original gal's fragrance. But back to the naysayers, I believe each of us has a style of perfume that fits us, and I would be curious to know, naysayers what fragrances you do like, just to get a sense of your fragrance range. I know this sounds extreme, but hey, this is a perfume message board.

  • KATHY ANTUNOVICH02/23/2005

    A sophisticated daytime fragrance. Nice!

  • DAN02/17/2005

Too pungent and it smells like paper, not fresh at all but very pungent and sharp. I do like the bottle and color it makes one think that the scent is fresh and light.

  • KRISTEN12/29/2004

At first it was a bit chemically, but it got rave reviews from all of my friends so I stuck with it. A nice fresh fragrance, though it fades terribly quickly.

  • AMY12/22/2004

I have really hard time finding perfumes that smell good on me. But this is one that smells very good on me and I recently purchased Gucci II which is also nice.

  • VANILLALION12/20/2004

I purchased a "mini" and went through it (something I never do). Reading this posts makes me yern and I will re-purchase a larger size. Wonderful clean, light scent.

  • SHANNON12/12/2004

when you first spray it its like a whiff of celery but it tones down to a cool and fresh scent - very nice! If you like this then I recommend Gucci Envy which I find quite similar! However I like Oxygene better!

  • CJ12/09/2004

I love this perfume!!! I think it's captivating and I just can't get enough.

  • LOUISE11/30/2004

I love Lanvin fragrances and count Arpege and Eclat D'Arpege as two of my favorites. Love them both. So I tried Oxygene with a bias towards Lanvin. Boy, was I disappointed. I've tried more than once to wear this fragrance, but on me it smells just like celery--JT is right. I can't detect anything but celery. Funny. As in strange funny and ha-ha funny. So, if Oxygene smells great on you, that's wonderful. Wear it proudly. It just doesn't seem to mesh with my chemistry. Say, if anyone is interested in trying something new: one of my other favorite fragrances is Ferre 20 by Gianfranco Ferre. It seems to be rather obscure as far as people knowing about it, though it's readily available through the internet on shops like this one. If you like a soft oriental-floral that's not too rich but is just right then try Ferre 20. No celery in it!!!

  • JT11/16/2004

I don't think Oxygene went well with my chemistry... I don't think they meant for it to smell like Indian food. On me, it instantly started to smell like Indian curry and celery! No exaggeration! Even the store clerk who said he was of Indian descent said that he agreed! I couldn't believe what I was smelling. I liked the bottle and nice blue liquid, but all it did was make me hungry for Indian food (which I don't like to wear).

  • LLL05/25/2004

There's something definitely haunting about Oxygene. It has a "windy", airy scent to it--it is well-named. I love this perfume; I wear it when I want to really feel light and sparkle, yet be a little mysterious at the same time.

  • SUNNY03/31/2004

I bought this scent a few years ago. This is one of those fragrances that I liked in the beginning, but somewhere down the line got tired of it. I didn't even finish the bottle. Would I buy it again, probably not.

  • LIZ03/25/2004

louise, I was tickled by your message because like you, I own both fragrances, but they have the opposite effect with me. Manifesto, to me is a little sharper because of the basil, and oxygene is softer, in fact I need to layer oxygene if I want it to last all day. Both are very lovely fragrances though. Another one in the same family as these two, but a bit more intense is Blumarine II.

  • KAMILL03/18/2004

after reading the comments on the boards here as well as the name itself it started off my search for a new 'fresh' scent. i must admitt that although i like the perfume, there is nothing 'fresh' to it...its heady deep sentual perfume for a woman that wants a little extra ...(in terms of perfumes, that is) i can't say it is a day fragrance, not for me anyway. still quite nice and reminds me of burrbery brit which is a surprise....

  • JONI01/03/2004

This is one of those fragrances that captivate men. When I wear it I am asked constantly by men of all ages exactly what the fragrance is.

  • MICHAELA 11/24/2003

I feel as though I am in a dreamworld when wearing this warm, romantic and sensuous scent. No man can resist a woman wearing this.

  • LOUISE11/13/2003

If you like Oxygene you may want to try Manifesto by Isabella Rosselini. They are similar. Oxygene gets a little sharp on me after awhile, which disappointments me because it's a classy scent. Manifesto, though is has been discontinued (so sad) is softer and a little more interesting if you ask me, but there is definitely something similar about them.

  • ANGAL11/05/2003

I've tried this is nice when I first put it on but after the day go on and it starts to wear off it gets musky smelling on me.

  • KBN09/26/2003

FOR A SCENT TO START OUT AS STRONG AS THIS DOES, I WAS SURPRISED THAT IN LESS THAN THREE HOURS, I WAS STRUGGLING TO STILL SMELL IT...

  • ANOTHER STEPHANIE09/20/2003

The white pepper note here is what spoils it for me. I was looking forward to the "fresh" thing, but all I smell is pepper.

  • GISELLE07/03/2003

I love this fragrance! Last week I finally broke down to buy a bottle and was shocked to discover that (here in Canada anyways) it is no longer available! I hope they've done this to introduce a longer lasting version.

  • KIM05/22/2003

I love Lancome's 'Miracle' but didn't want to copy a friend's scent, so I stumbled across 'Oxygene'. I love it and will wear it until I die. Even then it will be in my will for the funeral director to spray my corpse with it! :)

  • LAUREN03/08/2003

this is my daytime signature scent. light, airy and feminine(im 17 and its perfect for school). my only complaint is it is not long-lasting so I layer with lotion.

  • SID02/04/2003

I smelled this scent at Sephora since I wanted to get it after reading such wonderful reviews. I expected a fresh airy fragrance, but to me it had a sharp pungency to it, but with out being strong. I am just glad that I tried it before purchasing it.

  • SANDI01/30/2003

This perfume lasts and lasts for me, maybe my body chemistry has something to do with it...I have worn it from morning to night without it leaving me...I Love It !!!

  • CONNIE01/13/2003

I have had SO MANY compliments when I wear this! It's like fresh air!

  • MARIA IN GREECE12/26/2002

Oxygene is such a light, delightful and mysterious scent... The first impression with its top notes of bergamot, blue iris, rose and gardenia is that it is as aquatic and fresh as Eau d' Issey. Yet the scent evolves even more as the hours pass and the mysterious combination of base notes of white musk, hyssop and sandalwood turns into a tender scent that evokes feelings of security and feel-good feelings such as fresh apples, delicious cream, baby powder, blue skies and refreshing wind. It is mostly recommended for women who prefer light, rare romantic scents to feel-good and smell delightfully not something overpowering to impress others.

  • IRUSSIAN12/10/2002

My wife uses it once in a while, and it lasts as long as you'd expect it; many hours. I am surprised by the comments to the contrary. Maybe body chemistry or quality control are the reason why it evaporates too fast on some.

  • PAT11/16/2002

love the scent, love the bottle, even love the color, but man it is the fifteen minute wonder. That is as long as it lasts. It disappears without a trace. Very disappointed because I paid a lot for it.

  • STEPHANIE11/14/2002

Well, I got some and.. I feel like my hubby wasted some money. I got a gift set of it for my b-day. It starts out way too sharp for me and then mellows into a nice scent but when it mellows it also fades super fast. So you either have a too sharp scent or a more mellow fragrance at the end that fades away faster than any other perfume. I will not be re-buying it again. That is if I even finish the bottle, I may end up giving it away. But I admit I do like the bottle, it's neat and the blue color of the perfume is pretty.

  • NATTY11/12/2002

Oxygene is great smelling but not at all long lasting as the cost on my credit card! Get amarige please. Lasts all day!

  • JASMINE10/25/2002

Headache inducing fragrance. So sharp and the sandalwood in it is so heavy too. Smelling it is like scratching a blackboard.

  • STEPH10/13/2002

I want this for my birthday. I know it fades fast, but I LOVE the smell. I'm just going spray it all over my clothes (cause scent seems to stick to clothes) along with my body. And I'm going get the lotion as well. Can't wait. I loved this the first time I ever smelled it.

  • MANDIE09/25/2002

    you'll love this fresh scent:-)

  • MARY09/14/2002

I recently bought Oxygene by Lanvin and I have to tell you:I was so impressed!!There's nothing like it!!The first thing that came to my mind while smelling it was black licorice...how lovely!!The only thing is that it does not last a long time but it's so refreshing and so unique that it's worth it. I am always looking for those unique perfumes that DO NOT smell like others and this is one of them. Its uniqueness made me like it so much!!At first I was completely surprised and was not sure whether I liked it or not,and that was because its scent is one of a kind and I've never smelled anything like this before!!! I would suggest this fragrance to those women that like fresh perfumes and also to those women who are tired of the "usual" floral or citrusy scents.

  • A.08/23/2002

It's an OK scent, but reminiscent for me of Teen Spirit antiperspirent. It's light, and institutionally "fresh" but not lingering.

  • DIERDRA08/21/2002

I think it smells a lot like Contradiction by Calvin Klein. I still like the scent though. I think it's fresh and exotic.

  • JENNA07/29/2002

I like this perfume because it is fresh smelling and not too overpowering

  • OLIVIA07/19/2002

I have unfortunately experienced recent health problems which prevent me from wearing fragrances. However, I find I can wear Oxygene and it actually enhances my ability to breath. It's honestly like a breath of fresh air. Thank you for this light and refreshing product.

  • CLAUDIA07/14/2002

When I first tried Oxygene, I just immediately fell in love with it! I just LOVE it. It smells so soft & fresh but still warm and sexy, just the way I want to feel! Haven´t tried the bodylotion yet, hoping that it will make the scent stick with me longer...A totally pretty scent and a sexy bottle..

  • STEPHANIE06/26/2002

This is a floral-aquatic scent that is a bit too light for my taste, but very pretty. Top notes are bergamot and gardenia; middle notes orris, rose, hysope, and white pepper. Base notes of sandal and white musk. To the poster that said this would stay much longer on something other than skin: I would say that for a fragrance that they want this much money for, it ought to work better ON skin.

  • IVANA05/19/2002

Somebody said that it vanishes quickly - my tip is - spray it on something besides skin!! It will stay for a week!!

  • CHIARA04/17/2002

Wonderful and I love it very much

  • LISA04/15/2002

This fragrance is just plain beautiful. Since purchasing a bottle, it's become my very favorite. Nothing quite compares. I've read one constant theme here, it's fresh--but doesn't last long for being EDP. I don't wholly agree with the first part, Oxygene is a very complex fragrance. Fresh, but rich, innocent yet seductive, etc. The second part I do agree with. The fragrance doesn't last very long--but the smell makes it entirely worth it. In fact, I really wouldn't want them to change a thing about it for fear it would alter the fragrance. LOL I encourage everyone who likes soft scents to try it.

  • CYNTHIA02/18/2002

I've never known a quality fragrance that evaporated so rapidly! I liked Oxygene well enough to buy it, but found there was no trace of scent within two hours of application.

  • DANA01/28/2002

Hmm, definitely smells like an air freshner. Fun to spray around the house, but who wants to smell like deoderant all day long? NOT ME

  • MIRANDA01/10/2002

This fragrance is basically a more expensive version of Cool Water. Big deal, another "clean, fresh" smell- use Coast deoderant soap- same effect!

  • MARILYN 12/11/2001

I truly love the Lavin Oxygene products. The Oxygene lotion is so special because it last even longer that the perfume. After I bathe I put on the lotion and it stays with me all day.

  • MELISSA11/29/2001

This perfume is not overpowering. It is like a breath of fresh air.

  • PRECIOUS11/29/2001

I would definatley recomand this perfume b/c it has this natural very fragile smell which touches mens ' hearts . I have expeirnced it and mi boy frd went crazy kissing me when i was wearing this perfume. I love it and its definatley worth buying it.

  • GAIL11/28/2001

You're right about this scent. It does smell alot like 212.It's the Gardenia in it. It has a bite to it. I really don't care for it at all. It gives me a headache.

  • HAZEL11/28/2001

I just bought a bottle of this after smelling many, many perfumes. I love the smell - it is a very floral, fresh smell. Definitley not too sweet or overpowering - just right. It is a great perfume for the day time. My only problem with it is, as mentioned in a previous post, it has zero staying power. I don't even think it lasts an hour on me. It lasts a bit on my clothes, but that's about it. Still, a lovely perfume!!

  • SUZETTE11/28/2001

This fragrance is nothing original, nothing standout, and there are a lot of other, nicer perfumes out there. I find that it fades very, very fast and within an hour you smell like you never put anything on. It smells like they tried to copy it off Lancome's 'Oui' or Carolina Herrera's '212' but it didn't come out nearly as nice as those fragrances. Get 'Oui' or '212' instead. They're longer lasting and they're the ones who originally came up with the scent blend this one attempts to duplicate.

  • *J*11/25/2001

This is a beautiful perfume for those who like fresh clean scents. It goes beyond that category though...I love the "clean laundry" low-tone it has! mmmmm airy :)

  • HRBETTYBOOP08/29/2001

THIS IS A NICE FRESH, CLEAN YET SENSUAL SCENT. IT IS A LITTLE COOL BUT STILL NICE AND MEN REALLY LIKE IT. DEFINITLEY NOT TOO SWEET OR SPICY BUT A NICE BALANCE.

  • CATARINA08/23/2001

It's nice, but don't be fooled by the 'clean and fresh' propaganda, because it dries down quite spicy.

  • PATRICK CORDOVA05/21/2001

Oxygene is one of the best fragrances of all. It has a sweet spring smell. I suggest it to anyone who truly likes to smell nice and airy.
