    ... Such an aroma...I love it. !!

  • STEPHAN 01/05/2012

    A lovely heart-warming fragrance.

  • CHERI07/19/2009

I wore it when I met my then husband-to-be - we both still love it after 42 years. If the world as we know it ceased to be, this is the one luxury I would miss the most!

Nuit de Noel Parfum discontinued? It still lives on. Let me tell you...my husband and I are in Endinburgh at the moment. One of the first things I did after we arrived was search out a parfumerie. It happened to be inside Jenners (on Princes Street), just two blocks from our hotel. Well. When I went to the fragrance department and asked whether they carried fragrances from the house of Caron, a woman directed me to a different part of the store altogether. To my giddy glee, it was an entirely separate wing devoted to classic perfume houses. At the back, in a black-carpeted room of it's own, complete with a curtain of crystals that hid a table where one can receive a personal consultation, were all the perfumes from the house of Caron, including the EDP of Nuit de Noel. The sales lady and I chatted for the longest time about our passion for perfumes. I told her I had waited years to try Nuit de Noel, not knowing it was still available as a parfum. She gracefully arched a cloud of mist of the EDT in the air above my wrist and let it settle. That in and of itself was a treat, just to see how she did it. Then, she dabbed a bit of the parfum on the pulse point in the hollow of my elbow. At 150 pounds or 300$ for 28 ml. (looking to be about an ounce) I knew I'd have to wait to have a bottle of my own, but they took down my information and said they are happy to ship one to me whenever I'm ready. I'm in heaven. Oh, and the scent was more beautiful than I had even imagined. Warm, cozy, woody, mossy, leathery even. I thought to myself that it is one fragrance that my children must know me by besides my signature fragrance, which is Initial by Boucheron. Not only that, it gave me an instant memory of a feeling I've known in my life but that has been so elusive, one of comfort and peace, being cared for and loved at a level so deep that none of the storms of time can wash it away. To have it in a fragrance, why as soon as my novel Secret Speakers is released and gives me a bit of extra spending money, I'm going to celebrate by treating myself (and those closest to me who will notice the fragrance wafting from my glorious being ;o) by indulging in a bottle of the parfum. I may even have to return to Edinburgh to purchase it in person. It is a fantastic city. So, if you'd given up on the hope that the parfum had been discontinued, it is a myth!

'Nuit De Noel" does not scream of potpourri and incense. It is a whisper on a cold winter's night. Like that of falling snow with a comforting aura of incense and woods. Very soft, with the incense revealing itself last and remaining throughout. Once recognized, this is a treasure.

  • GLORI07/21/2007

I cannot understand anyone giving this fragrance a bad review. It must be bad body chemistry or something, because this is a truely amazing scent.

  • LISAANDTHEWORD07/16/2007

Musky but light, smells rosey edible & woody. Great comfy w/edge one!

  • GLORY03/29/2007

Try as I might I cannot wear this fragrance. It just does not smell right. My bottle was fresh but the juice smells very old ladyish. Dank and heavy. Not for me althought Caron is still one of my favourite houses.

  • SEAN03/06/2007

Hey look, many of you seem to love this fragrance so more power to you. To me it is really bad,it's right up there with Guerlain's Mitsouko and L'Heure Bleue . What's up with these distinguished perfume houses coming out with such unwearable fragrances anyway? To name this one Christmas Night and have it smell that bad, why, it's sacriligious!

  • PENTA12/11/2006

My mother wore Nuit de Noel in the 60's when I was a child in Seattle. I have never forgotten the name (who would have known I would spend a decade in France as an adult and speak fluent French) and have asked many times at many perfume counters over the years. No one has everr heard of it! I finally thought to check on line for some and, voila, I found it. I can hardly wait to wear it for Christmas this year.

  • JR03/15/2006

The description on this site -- "roaring 20's and its wild celebrations and exotic escapades" -- doesn't reflect the true tone of this fragrance, which is meant to evoke the timelessness and serenity of Christmas eve. It surrounds the wearer in a soft, balsamic cloud reminiscent of evergreens in a warm house on a cold night. One of the brilliant classic Carons, along with En Avion and Narcisse Noir.

  • PIA12/10/2005

I dont know what this frag. is supposed to smell like,to me it certainly does not smell of Christmas night or any other night.I give it two stars for the name and bottle and thats being generous.

  • LASSIE10/14/2005

Yes, it is! There's Grandma Lassie back in the 1920's with the "wild celebrations" and "exotic escapades"! Whatever that means-drinking bathtub gin and taking a pet leopard for a walk on a bejeweled leash? (Hey, not everyone's grandma lived in Kansas, wore her gray hair in a bun, and baked apple pies.) Other than that silly description, Noel de Nuit is a nostalgic, evocative fragrance that is indeed 1920-ish. It has a rose and sandalwood base that dies down to a sweet and gentle lingering scent, always in good taste. I love it and hope to buy some - somewhere in time.

  • LAYLA09/01/2005

Someone we work with wears this, it is so bad we are all in tears and sneezing when she leaves the room...it is also a "headache" perfume. Only buy this if you like those old lady, cheap french perfumes! BAD STUFF

  • BEBE02/19/2005

stands on its own. unique.aromantic. no dress code. anytime. anywhere. any place. ageless. very nice.

  • LOUISE01/27/2005

I wasn't sure I'd like this fragrance. Some of these posts give glowing reviews; others give less than favorable ratings. Still, I was game, ordered a bottle of the EDT, and boyz howdy, am I pleased!! I'm with you ladies who love this scent. It is so very nice. Just beautiful. My 8 year old son likes to celebrate Christmas all year long. I'll be celebrating along with him as I wear this beautiful scent all year long, too!

  • LOUISE01/13/2005

I'm considering purchasing a bottle of Nuit de Noel but am curious to know if it smells like another fragrance, in someone's opinion, so I can have some idea as to what it smells like. Any ideas on this one? Does it remind you in some way of Shalimar, for instance? I say "Shalimar" since it and Nuit de Noel are both listed as Oriental fragrances. Thanks.

  • MORTICIA X.09/13/2004

Even if you like old perfumes try it more than once before buying! It's headache in a bottle!

  • SANDRA06/06/2004

I bought it without trying it first carried away with all those reviews. My husband asked me to throw it away coz it made him sick. I tried to give it away to some old aunt of mine. It made her dizzy. I couldn't stand it and no one wanted it so I had to throw it away after all. Enough said!

  • MURKI07/22/2003

After all the praise I went and bought a bottle and just can't get into this scent. I'm disappointed because I love the Christmas holidays and was really looking forward to it. It's not that it smells bad, it just doesn't do it for me. I wonder if it's because it's EDT and very diffuse.

  • CATHY D04/22/2003

I last made a concentrated search for Nuit de Noel probably 8 or 10 years ago...for my mother, who loves it but had long since run out of it. I'm happy to know that it is available again in the US...only I wonder if the EdT is really that close to the EdP? Has anyone compared the old to the new?

  • GLORIA02/18/2003

My grandmother wore this fragrance. She wore lots of diamonds and fur coats. As a little girl I always thought it was so special but haven't smelled it for years. I live in South Florida but I don't let the hot weather dictate what perfume I wear. I would be interested in how it smells on me.

  • AUNTGOOEY02/16/2003

people at Caron and they swear the formula has never changed. They did say they are discontinuing the EdP because the EDT is much closer in fragrance to the actual parfum (which is something like $250 an ounce). Maybe you couldn't find it for so long because it's just recently that Caron opened a boutique in this country. It's on Madision Ave. in NYC. Now their fragrances are more readily available.

  • DEBRA B02/10/2003

Is this the real, original Nuit de Noel? I loved it years ago, but thought it had been discontinued. Maybe some of you other perfume "junkies" can give me the scoop on this! Thanks!

  • OLATZ01/31/2003

Thank you so much for the background and rich history of this magical fragrance. I am a fragrance junky (I must have over thirty fragrances in my closet - I ran out of space on my dressing table). Nuit de Noel is one of my favorites.

  • SHARRON01/23/2003

IT HAS A SOFT LENGERING FRAGRANCE THAT STAYS WITH YOU ALL DAY. IT'S WONDERFULL

  • AUNTGOOEY01/21/2003

Le Nuit de Noel is said to have been suggested by the perfumer's partner who loved Christmas Eve and the scent of warm furs and incense. Top notes of rose, jasmin and ylang ylang. Heart notes of saxon moss and sandalwood. Base notes of more saxon moss and sandalwood and musk. Saxon moss is a blend of geranium, licorice, leather, iodine and vanillin. I wasn't crazy about this fragrance when I first tried it on, but it grew on me until it's become my favorite. It's so complex and deep and dense and mellow! Frequently when you first spray a fragrance on, you have to "air it out" before sniffing it or else it's just strong fumes stripping the inside of your nose. Not with this. From the moment you spray it on it's mellow and smooooth. Also, it's dense but it stays close to the skin. You won't blast someone out of the elevator with this fragrance. It's a remarkable fragrance launched in 1922 by the famous perfume Ernest Daltroff. I'd like to own gallons of this scent!

  • REBECCA GUINSLER12/06/2002

i looked for this perfume for years. my mother use to where this only at Christmas time. it's aroma holds all christmas memories for me.

  • TINA MILLER08/27/2002

I JUST BOUGHT THIS FRAGRANCE AND LOVE IT!! I HAVE MANY MANY PERFUMES AND HAVE NEVER SMELLED ONE LIKE THIS BEFORE. IT IS VERY POWDERY AND FEMININE, AND WOULD BE APPROPRIATE AS A YEAR-ROUND FRAGRANCE.

  • SHEILLA G.07/02/2002

This is my first memory of what it felt like to wear perfume. My Dad bought this perfume for my Mom about 42 years ago when he traveled to Paris on business. My mother put it on her dresser table and allowed me to try some behind my earlobes. I loved the fragrance!!!. And it still sits there to this day. Everytime I visit her I sneak alittle and put it behind my earlobes (where my mother taught me to put it). She still cherishes it to this day, even though she is now 77 years old.

  • JANE01/06/2002

I do not speak French but someone told me this means "Christmas Night." I keep some to wear only in December. It brings back college memories of the mid-60's! I love it.

  • CAROLE (CALIFORNIA)12/05/2001

This was my first perfume 40 years ago. Have been unable to find it except in Paris. I love you for having it! thank you...thank you...thank you.

  • TRISHA HEALY08/07/2001

Perfect winter fragrance! Smells like nothing you've worn before. People will think you had it custom blended!
