I used it for years in Spain. It vanished suddenly, God knows why. Now in Argentina, also unobtainable. Grrrrrrr!!!

  • GLORY12/02/2010

I love reading the men's reviews on how many have worn this for such a long time. If that isn't proof that Equipage is a timeless classic.well I don't know. I am a woman who loves this on others as well as myself. I wear it often and am complimente on this wonderful scent by both men and women. It's in a class all by itself.

Well I seem to be the lone one who doesn't like this one. But this is an open forum and we're entitled to our opinions. I hope I never see this under the Christmas tree.

I encountered Equipage some 37 years ago at a time when I still was a student at the university of Grenoble in France.I have since stuck to it.Equipage is for the mature man who wanna make a statement. If you are a sissy or a kid check elsewhere because this fragrance is just not yours. The bottle has changed but the product is the same.GMs give it a try and believe me ladies are gonna compliment you.

Just picked up a bottle of this stuff. Top notch, scent, very musky. This stuff is amazing. So powerful and unique, I mean does it get better than Hermes or Caron? No it does not. These top quality scents last forever and a day, and smell like real men. They smell so high quality that people know you are wearing the real McCoy. This juice is about as good as Bel-Ami, which I initially dissed but then realized the error of my ways. If you like deep manly musky scents, equipage is it. Smells from the past are how men are really supposed to smell, not like the Calvins and the Tommys of today - too light, too common. Get this stuff - ahora. The older bottle is better than the new, but the juice is really what matters friends.

MY BOYFRIEND LOVED THIS SCENT FROM THE FIRST MOMENT HE TRIED ON. I BOUGHTED FOR HIM AND I'M PROUD THAT HE KNOWS TO CHOOSE ONLY THE VERY BEST OF EVERYTHING.....:-)

  • CHRISTINA09/26/2006

I have a better sense of what it smells like now thanks. I will have to get him to spritz some on definitely

  • CATHY06/10/2006

I am a female and have used it often for the past 30 years. Always get compliments. Good smells have no gender in my opinion

  • DENNIS02/04/2006

I've been wearing Equipage for 26 years - it's my signature scent. I very much like that it isn't one of those cloying power colognes that announces your arrival to those in the back yard as you walk in the front door. Miss Manners says that colognes and perfumes are meant for a distance of 12" to 15", not from the next room. I enjoy the subtlety of it; so do others.

  • ELENA11/24/2005

My husband has been wearing this fragrance for over eighteen years now, and I would't want him to change. It is a wonderful light scent that just draws you in. I'm always getting close to him to smell that wonderful scent. It is truly a timeless fragrance.

  • HELEN10/17/2005

I have noticed that Equipage smells quite different from man to man. It can range from average on some men to absolutely, incredibly sexy on others.

  • FRANCIS08/26/2005

Kristina, equipage is a wonderful fragrance and does not compare to anything there is on the market. It has a dry smell to it, not sweet, very masculine and yet not irritating. It sits well for long periods of time, but not a summer or warm weather fragrance. You should also try rocabar, which I found very unique, and the only two worth purchasing from Hermes. I own bel ami, which is very stroing, unique and very formal. I strongly recommend Eau Sauvage (not extreme) by Dior, which is a timless classique and inp[ired many others to create a cologne that would compete with it. You may not like it at first, but once it blends with the skin there is nothing better out there. And eau sauvage is for all seasons....a fragrance that every designer knows and appreciates, and have tried to "unseccessfuly" imitate. Good luck!

  • THE NOSE KNOWS03/11/2005

Smells like an exotic cherry blend of pipe tobacco. Anyone who doesn't like tobacco notes in mens colognes should stay away.

  • GDL02/09/2005

Equipage is a classic men's fragrance. It's top is fresh citrus. It's middle note is dominated by carnation. It ends on patchouli, a mossy, earthy tone, with a hint of leather and tobacco. There is no mistaking Equipage for a women's fragrance. It is distinctively masculine, and long lasting.

  • CHRISTINA02/02/2005

I am looking for a new cologne for my husband and have read several reviews by guys. Sounds like some pretentious wine connoiseur. Don't tell me it "takes you for a ride", just tell me what it smells like! Take a note from the women and describe the top note, the middle and the base. how long the scent lasts, and if it changes, etc. jeez.

  • CHRIS12/14/2004

The real "made by Hermes" classic! A fragrance for men with real values in life, a direction to go, risks to take, always clear and honest. No dissapointment. Yet gentle, sense of humour. Gentlemens scent.

  • SCOTT11/09/2004

I have tried many different fragrances and let me tell you this one is grrrrreat!!

  • REVERS05/28/2004

Scent of the finnest energy, stretching from heaven to gaia breathing with you and your dearest + a couple of six more stars

  • TWB05/06/2004

I have been wearing this fragrance for 25 years and still love it... I find that anything that has a base of patchouli I am immediately drawn to.

  • SEWICKLEY, PA12/24/2003

This has been my signature since I was 25, 23 years ago! It is timeless no matter your age. It never fails to invite people closer. My friends and love all associate me with this classic scent.

  • FRANCIS10/04/2003

This one is what has ne define what Hermes is all about. Many have tried to come close to this but have no succeeded. It is a masculine, yet gentle fragrance. I wore it since for the past thirty years, and never had a negative comment. Both men are women are captivated from it, and why shouldn't they be. It is well worth its price. I know it also comes in 200ml bottles, and would love to get my hands on one of those. The old packaging was nicer than this; at least they kept the bottle the same, and thats good.

  • VPIS02/18/2003

The smell definitely is unique and not for everyone. I thank my lucky stars I'm one of those that can carry it. The best and ONLY cologne I choose to wear. Have never had a negative comment from others, exclusively positive.

  • CBC05/04/2002

This is a soft fragrance. It doesn't scream it whispers. It's classified as 'oriental' but it doesn't smell any other oriental out there. It's not super spicy or sweet. It's in between with a nice soft powderiness. If you're looking for something like Joop, Le Male or Obsession keep looking, Equipage isn't in your face like those are. It's created for men who want to draw people closer. Not drive them away. One of the best men's fragrance availible, but not for everyone. It takes a certain type of guy to pull this one off. The only other fragrance out there I can compare it to is the original Pour Monsieur by Chanel (not the concentree version, the original that came out in the 50's)

  • KEVIN03/16/2002

Mild and very appealing. Warm and friendly, with a confident base. Some people don't like the carnation note, but I think it's essential to the spirit of this scent, which might have been given a cornier name like "Esprit de Corps." Some scents take you along for a ride. This is one that rides WITH you.

  • CRAIG11/25/2001

Both Equipage and L'Air du Temps have a very strong Carnation note. I find that both scents are fairly similar, but Equipage gets a little spicier.
