Fidji is my favorite fragrance, given to me by my first love who purchased it in Paris, 1966.

  • ANGEL11/19/2012

My wife's very favourite. Eternally fresh.

  • SUSIEIMT10/07/2012

My husband turns his nose up at others I've tried. I got it on a cruise in 1980. I never tire of it. Why is it so difficult to find?

'A woman is an island, Fidji is her perfume.' This was a strap-line that almost every woman knew and was seduced by. Fidji was a revolution in perfumery, never before had such American-style marketing been used to launch a French perfume. On the tide of its success Guy Laroche established itself as a pre-eminent force in the perfumery world. It would take other houses far longer to understand that it was no longer enough to launch a new fragrance - you had to make it tell a story and you had little time to do so. Fidji was to demonstrate that marketing could either make or break a fragrance´s success. Fidji takes L´Air du Temps (by Nina Ricci) as its starting point. Its creator, Josephine Catapano, elaborated upon the woody notes in its base and decided to create something in this style, but much fresher and more tenacious. Rather than simply smelling like a bouquet of flowers it evokes the sense of inhabiting one´s own tropical paradise. Its 'green' notes are reminiscent of being at one with nature, as the scent of blossom drifts in the air. The structure opens with a whisper of bergamot and lemon which instantly reveals a brisk cacophony - the fresh verdant leafiness of galbanum pushes up from the base through a bouquet of equally fresh hyacinth. The floral aspect is made from rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, carnation and orris which rest on a very natural base of vetiver, oakmoss, sandalwood and earthy patchouli. Sensual basenotes of musk and ambergris creates depth and smoothness. Fidji was such a success it was to influence some of the key creations of the next decade including Anaïs Anaïs by Cacharel, Chanel No 19 and Charlie by Revlon; this classic from 1966 should in other words not be missed.

This all time classic perfume is becoming harder to find. In answer to Chris's question try Amazon.co.uk as they stock it as well as a number of other suppliers in the UK. As for South Africa, the large department stores in Sandton City (Garlicks), Eastgate and selected pharmacies may still stock it.

  • HENRITA JASAT03/26/2011

    lovely lovely

  • CHRIS12/10/2010

Best fragrance. Why can't I find it? Not in South Africa, duty free shops, US, Europe. Such a fantastic product why don't they re-introduce?

  • DAISY BAPUNA09/27/2010

I have been using Fidji since early 1970's, and haven't liked any other. My family always gets it for me, but since the last couple of years we've not been able to find it easily. I live in India, and usually buy it from duty free shops abroad, but even there its suddenly gone off the racks. Please let me know where its available. Thanks!

  • KASSIE06/14/2009

Fidji has been my fovorite perfume for 25 years and will probably be so for another 25. A true classic.

  • SUEC11/04/2008

I'm glad to say that after disappearing for many years, Fidji seems to be available in many of the new perfume stores. Best of all they haven't changed the smell or the packaging thank goodness. Yes it is a little like L'air du Temps. It is very classic, light and is great if you like florals and it doesn't have the water and sickly fruity notes that so many of the modern perfumes have. You can never tire of this perfume and it makes you feel like you're on holidays.

  • PAULA09/30/2008

Same kind of smell as l'air du temps - carnations, lovely but don't see much of it anymore in the stores

  • MARYL09/29/2008

Is there a difference in the notes of Fidji parfum and the eau de toilette? Chanel Cristal EdT and EdP smell like two different fragrances for example.

  • SUE C11/15/2007

For those who love Fidji, I think you will also like Tamango by Leonard, released in 1977. Also very French, light, subtly spicy and will never date.

  • MONICA10/26/2007

Very classy! I love it not only with yellow and other hot colours, but olso with black, ecru, white, with linen and silk...

  • DEE10/23/2007

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! FEMININE AND CLASSIC, BUT SENSUAL TOO

  • VY10/06/2007

I love Fidji. While mom never loved it and had a passion for Rive Gauche and De la Renta. As a seven year old child I would always pray that the lady at the perfume counter would give me a sampler to take home, most of the time they did and I would inhale the fragrance and have wonderful dreams of wonderful things that such a heavenly scent brought to me. I had not give fidji a thought until walking into a small San Franciso perfume gallery and I suppose I thought of the place as the place that granted perfume wishes so instantly Fidji came to mind and I bought it cherished it and loved it. This was years ago in my late twenties. Last night, I'm in my mid thirties now, I found a big bottle and "paid" for it. I was searching on the web to see if I had paid a little too much for it, but was relieved to see that I paid the market rate. Anyway I am in fidji heaven now, and am looking to buy the lotion so that I can layer the scent. One commenter stated that fidji is for women with class, I will agree with that and add fidji for me brings to mind a women with a very cool sophistication, a woman who is comfortable in any and every situation, slightly adventurous and know how to carry herself.

  • CAROLYN KENNY09/10/2007

I was wondering if the Body Lotionis not available anymore as I like to use the perfume and the body lotion together

  • MIMI07/18/2007

Can anyone give me a more detailed description of this one? I'm really curious.

  • DOROTHEA VIOLETTA04/09/2007

'Fidji perfume' has excited my life for over eighteen years. It is one of my most favorite perfumes and rates as highly as the lovely parfum which I received many years ago as a gift in an elegant glass bottle from the NEW ORLEANS BOURBON PARFUM COMPANY! Nice to see Fidji is still available, I had heard it was being discontinued about seven years ago!

  • GREEKGIRL03/19/2007

I love this frag, have a mini and im using it sparingly cos its not available here (purchased mini overseas) but im going thru it rather quickly, its just so beautiful, a classic and only for classy chicks!

  • CELTICSHEDEVIL03/17/2007

I'm 33 and have been using Fidji for as long as I can remember. It's a subtle day-use perfume that never goes out of fashion.

  • MARY ELLEN02/06/2007

I remember my mother wearing this many years ago and she smelled so good. It was for sale at the drug store for $7.99 and that was expensive back in the 60's. They were selling it in Saint Martin for $77.00 but I didn't buy it. I ordered a small bottle for both my sister and me. Can't wait to smell it again. Thanks Mommy!

  • SUE C01/19/2007

If you like L'air du Temps you will like Fidji, it has a similar carnation note and delicate balance of spices and light florals. It's a pity Fidji seems to be only available in EDT form. I prefer EDP because they are softer but longer lasting and closer to the original parfum.

  • DEW10/27/2006

I remember asking my father the perfume to use on a date. He, as a very good tasted man, always recomended me Fidji. It has something special, baby". Thanks Dad. Wherever you are for being so good....tasted too.

  • KALINA10/10/2006

SORRY LADIES.. I HATED IT..A MUCH MORE ELDERLY TYPE SMELL.. NOT MY TASTE.

  • BUDULA07/20/2006

Why is Fidji so difficult to find when it is clearly a much loved scent.

  • BUDULA07/20/2006

I used to wear Fidji all the time, 15 -20 years ago, then everyone seemed to stop selling it. I have now found it for sale on the web but would love to know if anyone knew which shops I could actually go to when I need my next bottle. In my opinion a wonderful scent that is fresh and clean.

  • AZIN07/04/2006

I have always loved it. Used to put it on my Barbie dolls when I was a little girl. There is such a feminine feel to this scent. It is so hard though to find it in the States. I just bought it at the duty free shop in London Heathrow airport last week. But I think I overpaid for it. I didn't think I could find it here.

  • RITA06/28/2006

Living in the US it is so hard to find Fidji. I am from Europe and I used to buy the body lotion and bath soap too. Here I can only find the perfume. I have worn it since forever and it's my signature fragrance. LOVE IT!!!

  • TALEI06/23/2006

my only perfume since I was 18yrs old, I am now 52 and its as beautifully fragrant as ever.

  • KARANN06/06/2006

I think I have a sample of this coming! I appreciate your response. Like most fragrances I guess we just have to decide to try them out! After reading all of the wonderful reviews here I realized I MUST try this. I'll let you know how it turns out!

  • SUE C05/30/2006

Yes - it is a timeless, ageless classic scent that is just as modern, fresh and beautiful as when it was released in the 60's. Very French and top quality - many men and women alike adore it.

  • ANGELIQUE05/21/2006

I LOVE this scent. Fits any mood, any time, any decade. Timeless, romantic, feminine - in a class of it's own!

  • KARRANN04/14/2006

I'm seriously thinking about buying this. I like a wide variety of scents. Would this be good summer scent for a young looking 45 year old? Thanks!

  • SUE C03/22/2006

So many women quote this as their favourite fragrance yet dept stores no longer stock it and when you find it in a perfumers it is very expensive. I used to buy it regularly since 20 yrs ago and it was only moderately priced back then. It's still one of my top favourites and they kept the original packaging and the formula seems to be the same. American women note that French fragrances are designed to be reapplied more often so you will find them not as long lasting as American fragrances but they are more delicate in composition. Fidji is gorgeous and you will not tire of it.

  • CATH01/03/2006

I FIRST HAD THIS IN 1988! MY AUNT USED TO WEAR IT ITS STILL ONE OF VERY FAVES A MUST HAVE FOR THE CHIC LADY

  • OLGA12/29/2005

I completely agree with the mom's signature believe it or not this was my moms signature aswell and she was also telling me the real one last for days but these not so long, its so hard to find and i heard a rummor they arent going to be making them anymore

  • POLINA11/03/2005

This is a very very pleasant perfume... I bought it for my mother who's 45, and I think it fits her well. I wouldn't recommend this scent for a younger woman though, however it might be appropriate for office wear.

  • LILIA11/03/2005

Fidji was created the year I was born... But it wasn't until I turned 15 that I owned my first bottle. I have not gone without it since then. Fidji, I believe, will always be one of my top five fragrances. It is perfect.

  • CHRISSIE06/30/2005

I just saw your message, a year and a half after you wrote it and hope I am not too late - if it's frangipani you want, you MUST try Mahora by Guerlain - but hurry, it is being discontinued! Why I can't figure out - it is one of my alltime fav fragrances - exotic, sensual.. per0

  • LEXIA05/15/2005

It was 15 years ago that I got a glass tub of Fidgi Creme Hydratante Parfumee, or 'Perfumed Body Cream' and to this very day what little I have left, is as good as it was then. This fragrance is so unique. Ive tried others, but I keep coming back to it. Guess its my trade mark now. But sadly, here in the United States I cannot find the 'true concentrated perfume' anymore. I want to find more of the cream parfum, or the non spray concentrate parfum. Can anyone help me?

  • S05/09/2005

This was my mom's signature for over 30 years. As a little girl, I remember that smell so distinctly, and I was so excited the first time she let me borrow it. I think I was about 14. It is very difficult to find in its true form. My mom only wore the pure parfum. If it doesn't have the thin, black band around the neck (pure parfum version), it might not be the real thing. At least that's what my mom says. Since it's so hard to find, she has moved on to Marc Jacobs, which is another beautiful floral scent. Even the pure parfum bottle looks similar to Fidji..which is why my mom tried Marc Jacobs in the first place. :) But, nothing beats Fidji. My mom's chemistry worked amazingly with it. She received compliments ALL THE TIME. At family gatherings, the men would always say "mmm, you smell so goood!", and my dad would look at them a bit angrily. LOL

  • DAYSI04/14/2005

I love this smell, it smells like no other fragrance, I bought it at the duty free shop in Germany, Frankfurt Airport.

  • TAMMY03/27/2005

Just wondering if any one could advise me on the strength of Fidji and how long it lasts before reapplying??

  • MARIE02/25/2005

this is one of my favorite scents after going through so many others. Has been and will remain my signature scent!!!

  • SHANNON11/21/2004

My mum has this and it smells delicious, maybe I should get some?

  • ANA B10/07/2004

Beautiful. I've kept returning to Fidji on and off over a period of 21 years, so it's my all-time basic. I use it in winter. It is elegant and quietly sexual at the same time. One of the things that makes it work so well is the orris note which for a long time I thought was violet (well, I think orris is violet root?) As for finding the body products, last time I got the body lotion it was in France!

  • ROBERTA09/03/2004

This scent reminds me of my wonderful mom who passed away 18 years ago. She wore this scent whenever she went out for the evening with my dad. I wear it now and it always makes me feel like she's near.

  • ALISON07/07/2004

LIKE SO MANY OF YOU,I HAVE BEEN USING THIS FRAGRANCE FOR YEARS.MY DAD BOUGHT IT FOR ME FOR CHRISTMAS WHEN I WAS ABOUT 15 YEARS OLD.I CAN ALWAYS GET THE EDT WHEN I GO BACK TO ENGLAND TO VISIT BUT IT'S REALLY HARD TO TRACK DOWN THE BODY PRODUCTS.

  • JACKIE06/10/2004

I've been wearing Fidgi since the late1960's. I no longer smell it, but others say It smells good on me! It has been so hard to find in the U.S. since the 1980,s. I'm very happy to be able to obtain Fidgi through you. Thanks!

  • RITA02/23/2004

Fidji has been my very favourite perfume for more than 20 years when I lived in Spain. I now live in the United States, but have found that it is discontinued here, at least in San Diego. Thanks for giving me (my husband!!), the opportunity to buy it from you. I still use the body lotion but there USED to be a body creme too. Does it still exist?

  • SUE C02/13/2004

I saw today a perfume by Chantecaille of Paris called Frangipani. I don't know what it smelt like as the tester bottle was empty, but it was VERY expensive. Re jasmine, many fragrances contain jasmine but Joy has it in large quantities.

  • MELH02/11/2004

I love Fidji, but not on my skin! Actually it has been my mom's trademark for years and it still reminds me of her, wearing pearls and silk dresses in the Seventies (I was a little baby), when I happen to sniff it somewhere, even if she now wears Anais by Cacharel, which I don’t like so much, and less classy clothes. Fidji worked marveously with her chemistry, but it’s quite bad with mine.

  • LORELLA02/07/2004

For a jasmine scent try Guerlain's Flora Nerolia from the Aqua Allegoria line. It smells just like the mediterranean variety of jasmine (not star jasmine). This site doesn't sell it anymore though.

  • HELEN SINMPSON01/24/2004

I am looking for a perfume with the scent of Frangiapani flower. Your web-site came up with google search, but I cannot locate the product. Also, What do you have with a light Jasmine scent? Thank you in advance.

  • ANGELICA01/19/2004

  • MGARIS12/10/2003

It's lovely, but to me this scent smells very similar to Norell. Maybe it's just me, but whenever my mother wore it, everybody mistook it for Norell, so she lost interest.

  • BERNADETTE12/07/2003

A relative bought me this perfume for Christmas when I was 16 years old. I am 36 now, and still love wearing this scent. I only wish that Fidji was available in more stores.

  • VALERIE11/22/2003

what can I say, the smell of my youth, light, feminine and seductive. One of my lifetime favourites.

  • RAINFAERIE11/20/2003

'Fidji' was my signature scent in the mid-eighties. It comes across, to me, like a dewy bouquet of exotic white tropical blooms: Hawaiian white ginger, plumeria (frangiapani), stephanotis, jasmine, gardenia...with a sandalwood counter-point in the dry-down.

  • NATHALIE11/20/2003

Very nice scent. Reminds me of the islands and is not sweet or cloying, just flowery and very well balanced. The kind of perfume I'd wear after a day at the beach in a tropical paradise, ready to spend the evening with my love. Mind you, I will wear it now, never mind the paradise!

  • HELENCAROL08/10/2003

In 1966, A very handsome man, in St. Thomas, said to me: I know the perfect scent for you, Fidji. It has been my absolute favorite ever since. The only scent I would call every store in the world to find. Quiet, sensual, elegant, clean---It makes me feel wonderful.

  • LIZZIE01/17/2003

This is a wonderful scent - fresh, playful and intelligent, with a mysterious note. Subtle, yet seductive. It is no wonder that so many women have identified with it over the years.

  • LAURIE11/29/2002

I won't wear anything but Fidji. I have worn it for years because I like the scent. I'm having a hard time finding it in the US and in Canada. Even the duty free stores and my area have stopped carrying it. I'm thrilled to find it on a web site.

  • PHIL11/28/2002

For what it's worth to you ladies, my wife has been wearing this scent ever since we started dating twenty years ago. I still find it as intoxicating on her today as I did then. No other women's perfume has ever had the same effect on me. Nothing else smells quite like it.

  • PHIL11/28/2002

  • NICOLE10/04/2002

Suits me well. I bought a bottle yesterday as I was looking for a fresh and light scent from the 60s. It is flowery, lightly spicy and herbal. I cannot tolerate most of the fragrances unless it is light. I also use Eau de Rochas which is more citrusy. I have been told that they almost decided to stop exporting Fidji in Canada but they changed their mind. Good.

  • DEBBIE TEMPLETON07/10/2002

My father brought my first bottle to me from Paris and I've loved it since. However, no merchants around carry it any longer so I'm very pleased to be able to find it online. To me it is the ONLY fragrance that I truly love. And now that I've found where I can get it, I'll never be without it again.

  • DENISE05/13/2002

I've worn this scent since I was first introduced to it in the summer of '69 in St. Croix. It is truly the scent of the islands.

  • OLGA04/09/2002

Though I tried only EDT, I like this perfume. It is very feminine, soft and delicate. But EDT really doesn't last long (half an hour on me, then I don't feel the smell) that's the problem.

  • MAUREEN03/17/2002

I love this smell, it smells like no other fragrance, I bought it at the duty free shop in buffalo on my way to Toronto. Its worth the trip!!

  • ASCHATAN03/08/2002

...I think. Makes me feel elegant and like a lady whenever I wear it. A bit too clean and cold, though (doesn't fir in with the "very French", maybe). But I know others think it vibrates with sexiness and exoticism, so maybe I'm just not the right person to wear it.

  • LIZ02/26/2002

This is way too floral for me...but if you like em sweet with lots of flowers, this is it!

  • YVONNE02/07/2002

I recently bought it at Heathrow airport, in a duty free shop.

I DISCOVER Fidji when I wrote a commercial for the Hispanic Market, I was living in Puerto Rico at that time. After that Fidji has beeb one of my FAVORITOS, I sold the product to me first. The Commercial had an aword, We did the commercial in white and black. A womman dancing ballet necket, because the only dress that a woman need is FIDJI The commercial was very sofisticado

  • WENDY01/11/2002

WHERE?!?! I haven't worn Fidji in 20 years, but remember it was heavenly. Would like to smell it again before buying. (Live in Miami :-)

  • BUPPY10/28/2001

I found Fidji in the Saw Grass Mall for $38.00 for the 3.7 oz - Tester - I am told the tester is the same as the Eau de Toilette - is this true???? Other the the plane fair to visit my parents once a week, I pick up six to last the year. Does anyone know of any better price in the USA? thanks = Buppy (It is the ONLY one I wear - without I am lost)

  • NONA TILLEY10/26/2001

where can i find fidji parfume?

  • KENJA10/20/2001

I would like to know where I can buy Fidji perfume. EDT doesn't last long enough.

  • PAT SCHLAUDER05/29/2001

Would anyone know where I could purchase Fidji perfume? I have used the EDT, however, like the lasting effects of the perfume. Short of traveling to Europe, I havent' been able to find a store that sells the perfume.

  • KATHLEEN01/26/2001

Yes, it does come in larger sizes plus body lotion, deodorant, and soap. I used to buy it in Europe when I was on business trips but I'm not with that company anymore. Sometimes you can find it at the perfume kiosk "carts" at shopping malls. Costs a little higher than Europe but sure cheaper than the airfare! Also try the Perfume Stores at the malls. Hope this helps. Kathleen
