This is a beautiful perfume; I absolutely LOVE it. If you find fruity or floral scents too strong and are looking for something sexy and maybe a little on the unisex side of things, this is it. I've been buying this from for years and always get lots of compliments on it.

  • ADRIENNE06/17/2015

I LOVE this perfume! I get so many compliments when I wear it. If fruity/floral perfumes are not your thing, then this is the perfume for you. Very sexy.

  • ADRIENNE04/22/2012

I LOVE this perfume! It's very sexy and I always receive a lot of compliments when I wear it. It's great for people who find fruity/floral/citrus scents overpowering. It's very hard to find in retail stores so I always buy from this site.

I used this perfum since 2005 and I think it is simply fantastic and unique, I hope they do not stop the production

  • JUDI W*09/19/2007

Hey there lady...I did get a sample of the Intense, it was a bit better, but not much. It smells pretty much similar to the other, not worth venturing into, but thanks for the suggestion!

  • BARBARA W09/05/2007

Hi - try the unisex Scent Intense. It has more of the incensey, "head shop" quality that you're looking for. I like it a lot.

  • JUDI W.04/01/2006

I've put this fragrance on my wrist before I go to sleep at night, (not ready to wear it out, if I ever do) and I really can't explain what it smells like, but it's artificial & unpleasant to my nose & to me smells cheap. I know others would highly disagree with me, but that's what I'm getting. I'm really disappointed. It's strange because a couple of years ago, at Sephora's, I tested this and it smelled really good at first. I remembered, the drydown seemed to change drastically. I don't know...I guess not for me. (I don't think it's as "flowery" as I previously thought but it's something I don't seem to like) I wish I got the response that a couple of the other poster's got. (bohemian, head shop 70's smell,) I love that, that's why I ordered it, but to me, NOT!!!!

  • JUDI W*03/27/2006

After reading the posts on this fragrance, I thought it would smell different than it does. Just received it in the mail today, and to me, it doesn't smell "bohemian", "gypsyish" or does it remind me of "head shops" in the 70's. It smells sweet, and flowery. Not terrible, but after reading what I read on this site, not at all what I expected, and was looking for. I like something more exotic or incense like, this is not it. Oh well, another one bites the dust.

Has Costume National changed the bottle for this scent? I got a costume national scent a couple years ago and I have no idea what it's called (it just says costume national all over the backside), and I would love to buy some more if I could find it! Any help or ideas would be great!

  • RENAUD01/07/2006

Scent is magical. Two years ago my mother bought me the Body Lotion thinking it was unisex. I liked it so much that I went on to buy the perfume only to find out that it was a women's fragrance. Bought it nevertheless and I don't regret it. Scent is sure too ambiguous to be my signature so I remained loyal to Allure for men, but I still wear Scent from time to time and that's a thrill! By the way, all my girlfriends thought it was fabulous on me, so I don't think a guy should refrain from wearing it every once in a while.

  • BEBE02/22/2005

i love this scent. it wears on me nicly. unique. transparent. but full of body. very nice.

  • MERMISS02/06/2005

I love the minimalist packaging. The perfume, however, is *not* minimalist. It was too overpowering and sweet for me. It was almost rose and patchouli, with some strange sweetness I couldn't get on with. Again, not bad, just not for me. If you do not like Scent, Scent Intense might be more wearable for you as it is oddly softer (the focus on amber?). I couldn't wear either, but they were fun to try.

  • SHARRIE01/03/2005

heavenly scent. leaves a trail in the wind. awesome. divine. simple but complicated. wonderful.

  • SHARRIE12/27/2004

a beautiful SCENT. heavens SCENT. opens my eyes to a beautiful day. wonderful.

  • MELISSA12/23/2004

The 1st time i had ever heard of this scent was from this man i started seeing. This scent is ... INCREDIBLE. I have never smelled a cologne that turns me on quite like this one and has that distinct scent that you can't mistake with anything else. I can smell him all day ... even when he's not even around. Thats how much this scent sticks in your memory. Although its a little tough to find (i can't find it at dillards, kaufmanns, or penny's), i will definatly continue to buy this for him ... for ever!!! This scent rocks.

  • JOHANNE07/07/2004

I have found the most incredible fragrance that suits me more than any other I own or ever have owned. (God only knows how many...) To give you an idea how difficult it has been to find the "perfect scent", I have tried florals, and they turn too sweet; I have tried Angel and although I do like it very much, it becomes heavy and "sharp" on me. Lolita Lempicka is nice, but it turns "sour" by the end of the day. Being the perfume slut as I am, I keep searching and searching...I love Omnia, but it fades in no time. I tried Black Cashmere, and now we're getting closer but it's too heavy on the church insence. Then by accident, I discover Scent...The florals change to just the right amount of sweetness, and the amber notes truly make me melt. One way to describe the dry down is like "skin" You know the smell of a brand new baby? Not the powdery, baby soap smell, but the smell of their little heads. An absolute intoxicating scent that goes directly to your solar plexus. No perfume has ever done that to me before. And the did I mention the florals....not too much and not too complicated. Just a clean smell to compliment the base notes. Tried the Intense, but on me, I prefer the Scent. It seems to be exactly the same, only the Intense is stronger. I love Lisa's description as well on this fragrance. Very fitting. My first reaction was also Holy S---~! I've found it! And I'm not going to tell any of my friends about this one. I do all the research, and they smell great! This will be my signature. I have no loyalties to my fragrances, but this one might just be the one...

my mother uses angel. she got it all over the car. Now even with her gone 3 months and the car in the sun the car still stinks like angel. Obviously they are putting "Xmas tree" deodorizer in it. I cannot believe women think they can slap that stuff on and smell pretty. They reak at 10 feet! I would only use it if I had to eat a cadaver. Then I would use angel perfume. I hate it so much if I had money I'd buy the company just to stop the product from reaking all over the place.

  • WILLOW03/13/2004

I got this last year for Christmas and I adore it! Perfect in every way -- sensual, warm, woodsy and passionate. I never want to be without it!

  • DENNIS01/23/2004

I agree with Lola's gyspy/bohemian description of this fragrance. I was editing film in small room with a woman who was wearing this & it was like, "Whoah! Rhiannon rings like bell through the night, baby!" This scent is for the woman who adores vintage Biba fashions, handkerchief-hemmed chiffon dresses, and wild paisley head scarves worn low on the brow. It's very earthy, but more on the ambery side than the musky side, which is nice. It hints slightly at those old hippie oils from the head shops in Venice Beach. I give this twelve paisley scarves flying up~ :) I don't think it would be right for a very young woman under 30. This scent is more for the woman who has been around the block a few times and has lived to tell about it.

  • RITA01/22/2004

I took your word & just went out & bought a bottle of Costume National last night & WOW! What a hidden surprise...at first it smelled too much like men's shaving lotion, but only after the dry down does the scent actually take on a life of its own. Very sweet, ambery, powdery & sensual. I think maybe this is what they weretrying to achieve when they created St. Laurent's "Nu" but with "Nu" they got it all wrong. Costume National is one of those pheremone type fragrances where it adapts well to all body chemestries. Matter of fact, I like the amber dry down so much that I think today I will purchase the "Intense" version. The staying power of this fragrance is unbelievable...it is potent without being overwhelming. Gets 10 stars from me **********!!

  • MAGGIE09/18/2003

The best thing about this fragrance is that you cannot describe it. There are no words! I find it absolutely fabulous and I feel sexy and confident when wearing it. I agree that this is not a girly fragrance; in fact it is the perfect suit, jeans, menswear dressed fragrance, but it is NOT manly. There is an understated femininity to this one and I am amazed that some tout it as unisex. I have ordered the Intense version and can hardly wait. I also have the au fraiche and it is great for the slightly warmer days!!! I highly recommend this fragrance, but would almost prefer that it is kept a Scent secret!.

  • PETE08/04/2003

BOUGHT IT CAUSE IT SMELT BRILLIANT, NOW I THINK ITS TOO GIRLY, STILL THINK ITS FABULOUS

  • NOE05/05/2003

    this is wonderful

  • NOE04/30/2003

This perfume is different and long lasting, unlike many others out there. The fragrance is not girly or flowery yet it's intoxicatingly good. It's very grown up and sexy but can be worn for day wear. Very cosmopolitan. Highly recommend it.

  • DENISE04/25/2003

How would you ladies describe this one?? Thank you!!

  • SISTER MIDNIGHT02/12/2003

It's brilliant(the Intense version) but it smells almost identical to Chopard's Madness which goes to show it's not as original as some people think it is.

  • RADI01/15/2003

i use the intense from custome as unisex perfume its wondrful unique style in same time i dont know if we can use it for men & women the black bottle .

  • LOLA12/16/2002

You just have to try it. It isn't cloyingly sweet like Angel, and it really breaks down nicely. But,as with any fragrance,it's about your own chemistry. Go to a store, (sephora & neiman's both carry this),and sample it.But buy it at P.E, or you will pay way too much.

  • LOLA12/13/2002

oaah...Thanks,buddy! Have you tried "scent intense" in the same line by any chance? That one will have all stuck up mothers in law run screaming for the execution squad, but holy s--- what a rush!!!

  • WONDERING?12/11/2002

I am wondering if this is too strong? Can anyone help me out? Is it super spicy? For example, I can't wear Angel or Castelbajac. They are both too spicy for me.

  • KQ12/10/2002

I am a HUGE fan of Ennio Capasa--chief design god at CoSTUME NATIONAL. Lola, I think your review about this fragrance were so dynamite! Thanks for your comments and your fashion brilliance!

  • LOLA11/29/2002

I got it at Neiman's 3 months ago and I Highly recommend it.It's a very "tzigane",bohemian, gipsy scent, great to wear with a lot of scarves, suede, black khol on the eyes and Lagos jewelry.Calls for a huge, soft, ho-bo bag,and is best for those times when you feel like french- kissing your beau in public (and preferably in front of his parents), grabbing his buns when you are waiting in line together, and eating out of the same plate with your fingers. It may cause a few raised eyebrows and whipered "what the hell",and it's well worth it.Now,the scent itself:spicy floral, with amber and musk, not too sweet, and very woodsy in the drydown. There is a hint of aromatic bitterness that comes,I think, from cedarwood,it keeps the whole blend balanced and "grown up":This is not a scent for young teens,it needs sexual sophistication and loads of attitude. The first time I smelled it,I thought: "Holy s---,this rocks me!" And yes, it does.Caution:A little nothing of a spray goes a long, long way and will easily last from down 'til dusk and even far beyond...Enjoy! Ten stars!!
