    weird smell.

I felt I have to add a bit more to this one as it developed with time. I agree with Richard who suggested this for refined noses only. I do not necessarily consider myself as such but this one is just not commercial at all. No wonder it didnt not work (at least regarding sales figures) and was discontinued. But its absolutely charismatic. Sometimes its like this isnt even a perfume. More like a bottled feeling of forest life. Really like being out there on your own in the woods, just walking and exploring for hours. Not sure about the summer, as no floral scents are detectable in this one, more autumn/early winter scent as the smoky drydown is reminding me of dying autumn leaves. Though this is also a surprisingly versatile scent as sometimes the lemon/lime impression keeps going on and on and the smoky part is hidden behind it. I have recently seen the "Grizzly Man" by Werner Herzog, a documentary film about Timothy Treadwell who -for a few months each year - lived in alaska in the woods and fields, observing the grizzly bears living there. I think he could have easily worn this one. It -at least for me- seems to be a "lonesome" scent. Lonesome, bit weird, while optimistic, natural and very lively. The fresh start gives it a lovely kick and makes you feel very positive about it. Wouldnt use it to attract the opposite sex, wouldnt probably work so well as a tool of such goals I guess, but to be on your own, enjoy it for what it is> a great, fresh, citrus/lime, smoky, forest smell with a fascinating feeling about it. Its probably the most interesting fragrance I ever had a chance to discover.

This perfume is one THE best men's colognes i have ever smelled besides Kenneth Cole's 212....awesome.

  • RICHARD01/05/2006

Unlike most reviewers, I like Green Jeans! It is bold and unusual. The drydown is great! It is romantic like a schoolboy's crush. This scent works well outdoors and leaves an impression-it can be favorable within the proper crowd. Not for the board room set. It leaves smiles on the beach! Hot fun in the summertime...

This one screams for outdoors use only. In my opinion a very good casual type of fragrance. The debt and meaning of it only develops on fresh air so better do not try this at first in closed rooms. Also not suitable for any kind of party or social gathering. I can see why this one didnt have success on the market: it is not the type of fragrance you would expect from Gianni Versace. To me though its a pleasant surprise, as it is very good in cold weather, being outside while having a walk in the woods. It does not have any clear lines to follow (perhaps only the lime) and therefore holds a suprise if it gets from fresh to smoky. Its almost like when you go home from a 3 hour walk in the woods and fields, sit down and have a warming glass of scotch while your christmas tree is already being set up and the children having their lime drinks nearby. I know this sounds weird but Green Jeans is a bit weird as well. I a good way though.

This smells of lemons and pine. Its awful.Even the Versace name cant help this.Honestly, this is the worst fragrance I have smelled to date. One thing puzzles me.Bowling Green smells very, very similiar and is equally as awful but has a near perfect rating.

  • LISA11/17/2004

truly hideous. smells so awful, i cannot imagine how this one could ever made it to market.

  • ANDY08/06/2004

This stuff is terrible, I'd rather slather myself up with some pinesol than wear this out...if you want to smell similar to green jeans, siphon some gas out of your car and bathe in it, this stuff flat out sucks it. don't hate everything versace though, blue jeans and dreamer are both top 10 of all time in my book.

  • MIKEE05/06/2004

the only thing i can say about this fragrance is it definately lives up to it's title. there's no way to describe it except "green"

  • ARNOLD R.12/31/2003

Boy, there are times when I just completely don’t get the fragrance trends of the 90’s. This is one of those times. A bizzare blend of citrus, pine and mint (? I mean, what kind of a combination is that? How weird do you have to be to want all those scents at once?), and with an opening that truly makes one cringe, Green Jeans smells like nothing so much as toilet bowl cleaner. Sharp, chemical, synthetic. Awful stuff. One of the worst fragrances I’ve ever come across. I can see why this one didn’t stick around long. It calms down a little after that initial horrifying blush (I think when the top note of Grapefruit mercifully fades away), but it never even gets in the same zipcode as something I’d want to wear.

  • AARON09/23/2003

Definitely recommended to any male who loves to smell good,it also gets the ladies' attention.

  • MARTIN08/19/2003

A heavy pine scent... not for everyday wear... I don't think I would buy another bottle

  • JUDE C08/04/2003

this stuff is very lemon limey-however it is a clean distinguished scent-can. black jeans-is the sexiest of the jeans by versace

  • JTL08/03/2003

I couldn't decide between Blue Jeans and Green Jeans, so I got both. It depends on my mood and the circumstances, but I've had success with both. I agree with the woodsy part, but I don't think it is excessive. There's a sort of citrus element that draws the woodiness down. It's just very different from Blue Jeans.

  • JOHNNY BOY07/26/2003

I found a bottle of this for $7 so I said what ta hell.I was mildly suprised if it was a wine it would be like a beujoais kinda fun once in a while but not all the time.

  • TONY BOLOGNA03/22/2003

green jeans smells like pine flavored lysol that you use to wipe down the coffee tables in your house with--very nasty

  • JC03/14/2003

Some days, I just want to feel like I walked out of the clean pine woods, so I wear it for me. This scent goes on a little sharp, and as the top notes quickly fade the base notes seem to fight them, making me wonder for a few minutes why I put it on. Then hours later, I'm aware that I've felt comfortable and clean and strong for a long time. Lasting but light, clean and grounding.

  • BB12/25/2002

smells like emeraud, a yucky womens fragrance

  • JEFF08/01/2002

OK in very small quantities. Makes a great closet freshener if you don't like wearing it. I agree Blue Jeans is a better choice.

  • DAVID07/17/2002

I must admit that when I first smelled it over my friend's house I did not like it that much. Still, I took a chance and went out that night with it on - I received compliment after compliment - so now I wear it fairly often

  • BETHANY06/24/2002

Strong piney and woody smell with no real nuance to it. Would not recommend. Very strong, but not in a good way.

  • MEMBOI2404/09/2002

I agree. Too much pine and wood. Opt for Blue Jeans.

  • PHIL04/05/2002

very different..i actually like it, but wont wear it. It smells toooo much like pine trees

  • GLADIATOR04/01/2002

i am going to make you a favor telling you not to buy this product it may have secundary efects (scares chiks)

  • M. SMITH10/05/2001

Didn't care for the scent. It smells like you just came from a bonfire. Way too smokey.
