    My favorite

    MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE

  • SANDRA IN CALIFORNIA07/14/2016

This is a classic 1950s fragrance, which I dearly love...

  • ELLIE05/08/2015

Fracas is a wonderful unique perfume by Piguet. It's a sophisticated scent and I get people asking me 'what is that lovely smell' when I wear it!

  • MARYANN MCPHERSON02/01/2013

    I am happy wih item

  • CATHERINE MORTON11/29/2012

i have loved this perfume for years nd so glad i can order from you

  • KAT08/27/2012

Loving this fragrance - it is very unusual. Be warned thought it is very strong - you only need one spray!

  • MADAMEFRACAS08/10/2009

Fracas is the fragrance I adore with all my heart. I have other scents but I always return to Fracas. It seems loud at first but it soon softens into cream . It's the only perfume I have used that truly just magnifies good smelling skin.

  • SUSIEB03/08/2009

I always am asked what perfume I am wearing. I wear this on dates and the men seem to go nuts for it; they end up asking what it is. So, it's working for me:) I just love the smell, it is like aromatherapy in a bottle..

  • AIMEE11/03/2008

I really like Fracas but I've struggled with how to wear it because it is so very potent and it can be a headache in a bottle if applied too heavily. Your suggestion on how to wear it is perfect! I tried it and now I find Fracas to be fresh, sexy, floral-spicy and never too heavy. Thanks for a great tip. A little does indeed go a long way. Of course that is the mark of a well-made fragrance.

  • SHERIDANELLIS09/15/2008

Greetings Barbara, I am always reading posts on here and noticed time and time again that we seem to enjoy many of the same scents. I too love the spicy dark warm complex scents that are becoming more rare in the perfume world of tuti fruity celebrity scents. You seem to sing the praises of Tom Fords Black Orchid again and again :) and I can not find it anywhere where we live. I am considering purchasing the TFBO voile de Fleur but am wondering what the simularities are in Fracas and that scent. I am really digging my new bottle of Fracas which is weird for me, but could not help but order one after reading the review on Now Smell This blog! I would appreciate any info/help you could advise me on. Thank you!

  • SHERIDAN ELLIS09/15/2008

I received my bottle of Fracas this morning and was excited and nervous to test it out at the same time after reading lots of reviews. R.Piquet was an ingenious alchemist of his time! This is so complex it is difficult to describe. I am liking it A LOT though! I can see how the tuberose dominates and that is a love it or hate it scent. I am shocked at how rich this white floral is ( and I do not usually enjoy white florals at all). It does have this "creamy" background which conjurs up memories of peaches and cream eaten on the porch on a cooler summer night wearing a cotton sweater, or nursing my babies and smelling their sweet hair or having a chai latte in a cafe I love in Seattle while it is softly raining in the spring and the trees and flowers are in bloom. I hope some of those images help describe this scent and what it is to me. I can see this will be a favorite in no time and a beautiful addition to my growing perfume collection. I hope you like it too! Bonus: the bottle is tres chic for sure!

  • SHERYL08/10/2008

I recently smelled what I thought was Fracas on someone and turned out to be Bond #9- Saks 5th Ave. Bond #9 is the Company name and they have 31 different scents I believe all named for something or some part of NY. The one named for Saks department store is available at Saks or online. Its in a black and white bottle and they smell very similiar. About the same price.

  • BARBARA W06/28/2008

...the EDT version of Tom Ford's Black Orchid, Voile de Fleur. They are very similar in character - both are rich, velvety florals.

  • JUDI W*03/27/2008

I went into the store to do my monthly sniffing, and again, I picked up the bottle of Fracas to see if I would change my mind about wearing it yet. I still think it is a wonderful alternative to Jungle Gardenia by Tuvache, but my chemistry & tastes have changed since I was twenty. (shocking) I still think it's nice, and wished that I had found this many years ago, when I was looking for a replacement, but now it's not what I'm comfortable in, but like I said before, who knows how my taste will change in the future, and it does have the quality, that I would wear when I'm ready.

  • MOCKINGBIRD02/20/2008

Beautiful fragrance. I just spray a little inside the lid and use my finger to dab on a tiny amount. It is powerful. I really, really like this perfume--and I don't usually like ANY perfume.

  • KARA02/19/2008

I love this perfume. It's rich, elegant, ferociously feminine. It's especially good in the summertime, when the heat and humidity give it an extra intensity- but for all of that, I never found it overwhelming or cloying. A lovely seduction- I don't think I've had a boyfriend who didn't like it. (Or rather, one that lasted long after he expressed his dislike of it.) Subtle it isn't- gorgeous, it is. It also has sentimental value for me, as I was introduced to it by my grandmother when I was five, and I think of her when I catch a whiff of it. (Grandma was very modern in her thinking, and she knew her "dolly" would love it!)

  • CARLA12/29/2007

I just tried this perfume at Sephora and I cannot stop smelling my wrist. I am going back to get the gift set while they still have available. I think I just found my new signature perfume!!!!

  • SMELLIE KAT10/15/2007

You had better like tuberose if you're going to wear Fracas, which I do . . . kind of. Still, Fracas isn't just any old tuberose; the top note is metallic and oily, lush and encompassing. Then, Fracas gets creamy and cherry-ish, but never really loses the oily factor. The middle note also includes the threat of something dark developing, but it's not ready to come out just yet. The drydown is a combination of tuberose, cream and Crayola Crayons - with a hint of dirt. Yes, dirt. I must confess that, even though I have had Fracas for several months, I haven't yet worn it out of my house. There's something naughty about it ( I love naughty) and I haven't yet encountered the right occasion to pull it off. After all, Fracas is not something one wears to the office . . . or the grocery store . . . or a book group. One wears Fracas when they want to say, "I'm here in all of my flaming femininity, smelling vulgar and indulgent, simply because I can." Fracas is so IN YOUR FACE that I can hardly wear it without smirking. My husband's birthday is Saturday. We're going out for drinks and a fancy dinner - just the two of us. Well . . . us and Fracas. Surprise, Baby.

  • BARBARA W10/14/2007

I can appreciate how well done this fragrance is, but it's just not my style. Big florals (esp tuberose) just smell wrong on me and don't match my personality - but - this is an extraordinary perfume. My current obsession is Black Orchid by Tom Ford (I'm plugging it wherever I can!). ;-)

  • MARIO JUSTINIANI09/11/2007

In my life. My on and off gf is an Issey Miyaki nut, my classy sister loves the original 70's Rive Gauche. (Good luck finding that formula!) And my present obsession likes Beautiful, until I turned her on to Musc Ravageur. I discovered Fracas when I gave it as a birthday gift to an old flame turned best friend, who told me that it was her all time favorite. (She also told me a man can wear this, but I don't think so, unless you're an androgynous rock star). In any case, for those of you who like the magic T, I do believe this is the one in a thousand that got it right. Interesting how few 3 star reviews there are, isn't it? Fracas is all or nothing . . .

  • A.07/27/2007

delicious. i want to eat my own wrist - i can't stop smelling it. just one spray is enough. this is the fragrance i have been looking for my entire adulthood. i can't believe i finally found it! i now know that it's tuberose that is one of my favorite scents ever. many of my favorite perfumes contain it. oh, fracas is heavenly....

  • LIANI04/27/2007

I prefer gardenia and tuberose frags, but they have to be done right and work w/your chemistry 100% or the result is CATASTROPHIC! In fact, no other type of fragrance can go so very wrong---as in “nausea” and “cloying.” Well, Fracas is my third favorite of these types, after Jde Bagatelle and Chanel Gardenia. On me, Blonde smells pretty much identical to Fracas, only Blonde has a brighter (more ordinary and thus expected) jasmine green finish where Fracas delves someplace darker. Fracas has a certain undertone that (for me) can momentarily evoke a sense of melancholy or sadness. Whatever it is, Blonde lacks that note. I usually can't smell it on myself after applying so I'm not aware of this unless trying intentionally to detect it. And wearing the fragrance itself does not make me sad. In magazine articles, I have seen this referred to as the legendary white floral’s "dark" heart. That description is accurate, but it is impossible to cut through Fracas' complexity to tell precisely what it is. (My olfactory register guesses it’s magnolia, which I strongly dislike alone or in larger proportion). Anyway, I think this little complication/mystery is what gives Fracas its “cult” status miles above the many other white, gardenia-tuberose florals—which of course, are a dime a dozen.

  • JOY04/14/2007

This is one of those "love it or hate it" scents. While it can seem somehat overwhelming when sniffed in the bottle, if it suits your body chemistry, it's magic. Whenever I wear Fracas, I receive copliments from men and women.

  • JUDI W*04/10/2007

If I didn't sample this yesterday, I wouldn't of believed it. It smells so much like the original Jungle Gardenia by Tuvache, that I used to wear in the seventies. I was looking for a replacement for more than 10 years, and now I found it, but unfortunately, my tastes have changed in thirty years, and don't like gardenia anymore. Timing is everything, because if I would have known about this sooner, I would have been a happy camper, but now I'll just know, if I ever change my mind, I know where to get it. Very nice fragrance though, rich & creamy, like they used to make fragrances.

  • MAUREEN02/01/2007

I have been using Fracas since I was 18. My sister found it. I am 48 now.....When I use it all I get is "OOO you smell good..and what is that scent?? and I love it!!" but one of my best friends tried it and it smelled like rotten something on her....??? a chemical reaction to her????

  • SERENITY01/29/2007

Fracas is one that I look forward to wearing. I have to resist the temptation to wear it every day, as I have many other wonderful perfumes that deserve a day in the cycle of fragrances. Fracas is seductive, warm, and enchanting. It borders on stinky when I first spray it, but after a minute or so, it melts into the sort of fragrance that makes you narrow your eyes and say... mmmmm.... This one is a definite keeper and stands front and center in my collection. Alluring!!

  • PATT GOBER01/02/2007

edie wore fracas but het signature fragrance was "in love" by harnell. you mat still be able to get it at harrods.

  • JAN12/29/2006

I never fail to receive compliments when I wear this. You will not smell yourself in elevators, etc. It is a rare find. Don't you love that?

  • APRILMAX12/20/2006

Fracas is another one I find very unique. It is feminine and sexy, but not super-girly (which I hate!). The description says there are a lot of flower notes in it, but it is not a floral scent at all (I also hate super-floral scents). So it's worth trying if you usually shy away from florals. The flowers are tempered with rich and spicy notes. It is really deep and sensual when you take a long sniff, but not overpowering. This is one that grows on you, and then you can't live without it (just bought myself a bottle for Christmas!). The only let-down is that it fades fast which is strange, because it is a high-end product with quality ingredients. Maybe it's just my chemistry. Worth a try!

  • JAN12/14/2006

Who is Edie Sedwick? I know this was one of Marlene Dietrict's favorite.....in the 40's & 50's.

  • SAVANNAH12/14/2006

Why would EDP last longer than real perfume? I read that on some of the posts and it does not make sense. I thought perfume is always longer lasting and has more oils than alcohol??

  • RITA12/11/2006

I heard that this was the favorite fragrance of Warhol's muse Edie Sedgwick in the 60's. However, I've also heard that Edie wore Caline by Patou & Intimate by Revlon. Does anyone know for sure which fragrance or which fragrances Edie wore? We seem to have an open book on her about everthing but her perfume.

  • GILL11/29/2006

Fracas is not nearly as good as it was in the 60s and 70s when I used it constantly. Since they have changed it I find that it does not have the depth of fragrance that it once did.

  • CHRISTY11/20/2006

I just tried this perfume for the first time today and I just love it. I've had it on for over 2 hours now and it still smells the same as it did when I first sprayed it. I wonder...does that mean it's not going to turn on me, or is it still too soon to tell?

  • BRANDY11/10/2006

I have smelled it before. Either on someone or in a store. My memory fails me. Very nice soft floral that leaves a trail. Seductive.

  • MARY11/08/2006

This is one parfum that is not for everyone. Only a few people can wear it and get the true idenity of it. On some it will turn the stomach but the ones who can wear it will be complimented till the day is over. I am very lucky to be one of those who can wear fracas. I was grocery shopping one day and had a man stop me and tell me he had searched the store over trying to find who was wearing this wonderful smell and after walking uo to several women and actually smelling them he found me and begged me to tell him what it was and where to buy it. He wanted to purchase some for his wife. I told him to get a sample first and let her try it because it was not for everyone. My husband loves this parfume and so do I but I do think you should sample it before buying it.

  • SYLVIE08/09/2006

FRACAS was first (1948!) and I like the story behind this legendary fragrance. Fracas & Carolina Herrera (classic) smell IMO similar! Both fragrances smell ultra-feminine (breathtaking headnotes!), bright and sparkling and have a multilayered, interesting drydown. - Blonde, Mahora by Guerlain, JPG Fragile smell similar, but I miss the quality and complexity. They smell for my taste too linear and therefore tiring. If you love Fracas and Carolina Herrera, please try also Kenzo's first fragrance and masterpiece KENZO "Ca sent beau". Not very well known and meanwhile a hard to find, but it's a wonderful, complex tuberose/orange blossom fragrance and it's absolutely worth a try. Happy sniffing.

  • ANNIE07/03/2006

They are very, very similar. I don't currently have Blonde (but have worn it in the past), so I can't do a side by side but I think I give Fracas the edge. They are extremely close though. JPG Fragile is in the same family, imo. I haven't worn Carolina Herrera, just given it a quick sniff in a dept. store, but I will definitely give it a test run in future. I reviewed Fracas below and don't have anything to add except to say that it is the one fragrance that my husband consistently compliments me on. He dislikes most perfumes, I suppose his nose is extra sensitive to the chemicals or synthetics, or whatever it is that bothers him in most fragrances. But whenever I wear Fracas - and I don't use much, just a tiny amount - he always says it smells nice. Interesting posts from Dale below.

  • JANETHLU06/06/2006

Very similar to Carolina Herrera, but Fracas is sweeter and not so overwhelming on your skin. It's also VERY VERY similar to Versace's "Blonde". At least on me, they smell almost identical. Fracas does last longer on me.

  • JANETHLU06/05/2006

Love it! Very sweet and absolutely intoxicating. It reminds me a lot of Carolina Herrera -the first one- and Versace's "Blonde". I think it's my new favorite!

  • DALE MADONICK05/23/2006

i just wrote a review of fracas to you moments ago.. i just read your list of people who use fracs and their opinions of the scent,,, on that list is stevei nicks.. i own a parrot shop in phoenix, arizona and she is one of my favorite customers.. she owns a cockatoo that i care for when she nees to have her bird manicured..it 's so nice to know she loves fracas as i always knew we were on the same page in other areas besides her music and her bird.. perfumes tell the world a lot about the people who wear them.. fracasi is very tricky as it changes rather quickly and radically after coming into contact with the skin.. thanks again for the additional info.. that was fun...dale madonick...please post my review on your webpage as i am nowk, and as i stated in my letter from half and hour ago, have been a fan of this fragrance for over 30 years... thanks... dale madoncik.602-348-5854 cell phone in case you want to chat with a gal who really know scent

  • DALE MADONICK05/23/2006

i have worn this intoxicating scent since 1965.. it is the only fragrance i get along with....it never sours, or turns on me like a two faced friend...there is gargenia oil in fracas.. i know for sure as i worked for pan am many years ago as a stewardess, and purchased it in paris from sevel different shops...they all agreed that one of the main oil is gardenia oil, which is the most expensvie oil of all according to the sales people i spoke with back then...also i am a natural redhead, and my chemistry is rather tricky... what comes out of the bottle sweet, metamorpasis into light, airy, and mysticl , like a zephyr of a breeze at the beach in st. tropez during the springtime when all the flowers along the mediterranean coase are just budding, but are not open yet... it's like a tease of a breeze...in anycase redheads have extra beta carotene in their systems, which, after years of research with my friends for 12years at panam, agree that this sensitive parfume compliments our body odor , so to speak.. please let me know how available fracas is, how long shipping takes, and send me a catal

  • AYI05/03/2006

I *just* recieved a sample vial with a shipment of KAI perfume oil (which has strong gardenia notes) so I suppose the company I ordered my Kai from figured I might like this scent since it also has heavy gardenia notes. Wrong! It smelled OK, when I first dabbed it on my pulse points, but the dry down is just plain weird. The scent reminds me of black licorice and sweet smelling old ladies. Not Horrendous, just sooo not for me. I need to go and wash it off, because I'm feeling a bit queasy. :(

  • KRISTI04/21/2006

Ever since going to Hawaii, I have been obsessed with the sent of tuberoses that they use in their leis for fragrance between the orchids. Well, one wiff of this and it took me right back! I was hooked! I will also have to try Carolina Herrera as so many here have mentioned it smells similar. Thanks!

  • CYNTHIA04/13/2006

I think that all one needs to do to make a fragrance last longer is spray it on your clothing as well as on your skin. Do a "walk through" in the mist. Also use your cream before you apply the EDP. Thought TWO: Parfums are interesting. It's not just oils that make up a commercial scent or that cause a fragrance to last, but chemicals are used also. My personal thought on Fracas is that the edp may have more chemicals than the parfum does, which perhaps sustain the fragrance. But also, once we put on a fragrance we generally get used to it and can't smell it. Thought THREE: Maybe you should wear just a little more of it. I'm notorious for wearing minimum amounts...and then no one smells the glorious essence I spent so much money on!

  • MUTZIE02/16/2006

I just bought the Fracas cream thinking it would help the perfume last longer. However, I'm not certain the cream scent is as sweet as the perfume---or even smells exactly the same. Does anyone else have experience with the cream or lotion?

  • MUTZIE02/05/2006

I tried the EDP---and, although initially it was more fragrant than the pure perfume; unfortunately, it did not last any longer...maybe 45 minutes. Does anyone know if the lotion/cream smells true to form...and would help this wonderful fragrance stay on me?

  • MUTZIE02/02/2006

Thank you Sharon for your response. On your 'say-so', I ordered the EDP today. What I can't figure out, however, is: If the pure perfume has a higher concentrate of the fragrance; why would a lesser concentrate smell, and last, longer? Also--what is your information based on that Fracas has no Gardenia in it on? I'm curious since I have read different opinions on different 'ordering' websites. Thank you so much!

  • SHARON01/28/2006

Fracas does not have Gardenis in it. The main note is tuberose which has some similar qualities to gardenia.

  • SHARON01/28/2006

I use and love Fracas. I usually use the eau de parfm. Once I bought the perfume and it didn't last more than a half and hour. I didn't understand either. The EDP lasts all day and the perfume lasts maybe 30 minutes. I kept testing it to make sure I wasn't crazy. My friend also verified that the scent didn't last more than 30 minutes. I returned it where I bought it and now I stick with the EDP. It is wonderful and lasts a long time. I never figured it out, but now that i hear the same thing from someone else I know it must be true and not just a fluke. The answer is the use the EDP in this fragrance.

  • MUTZIE01/21/2006

I recently bought the pure perfume of Fracas from a reputable upscale store. Although I love the fragrance; it simply does NOT last on me more than an hour or two. Is this possible??! ANY SUGGESTIONS ANY ONE MIGHT HAVE ON HOWTO KEEP THE FRAGRANCE LASTING LONGER, would be greatly appreciated. (I do not want to use creams or lotions.) And---does this perfume have any Gardenia in it? Different perfume websites give different answers.

  • JAN01/17/2006

Yes, by all means, try Bandit. At first, you will probably do what I did when I tested it; say, "not for me." But....It seemed to grow on me. The strangest thing happened. I could actually "smell it in my mind." So, I tested it again. After the first blast, it settles down, and it is wonderful. That is, if you like something a unusual, not too sweet, and certainly not common. It will set you apart. Remember, at first, you might say, no. Their slogan is, not for every woman, but for a certain woman. True. But....give it a chance.

  • ANNIE01/17/2006

Be careful with Bandit! It's nothing like Fracas. Definitely try before you buy. Bandit is a very strong chypre - would make you think of Paloma Picasso or something like that but I think has more leather. I found it too overwhelming but I only tried it once from a tester. Others love it.

  • ANNIE01/15/2006

Once the initial blast settles down, this becomes creamy and soft on my skin. I receive compliments when I wear it from people who don't even care for fragrance, including my husband. A friend of mine said it smells very fresh and clean on me. Depends on personal chemistry, obviously, but Fracas works well for me. Not the scary bombshell that you read about. Just a very lovely floral. It's true that you don't need much!

  • HERA01/15/2006

I bought the EDP purely on the rave reviews it was getting in Marie-Claire. I found out that the only place you could get it in Australia was Mecca Cosmetic and they wanted $225 a bottle!!! I managed to get the gift set online for $85 and I haven't been disappointed. I am not a woman who ever buys perfume sight unseen but I'm glad I took the plunge with Fracas. I've had nothing but compliments since I started wearing it. Dare I try Bandit????

  • JAN01/09/2006

Try Champs Elysees by Guerlain. Hard to find, but very nice. I have tons of compliments on it. Wait for the drydown. I also like Bandit, especially in the winter months.

  • DEB01/03/2006

I love to wear Fracas but would like to find a scent that is similar just for a change....any suggestions? I also wear Micheal Kors and love that too...

  • ALLISON12/18/2005

How much floral is too much floral? I really tried to adore this fragrance, but I get nervous around florals because one false move, and boom you've got a headache. This scent is really sophisticated, and I envie the woman who can wear it as her own. Maybe in another part of my life will I be able to wear this.

  • LAURA12/08/2005

I have had so many compliments on this perfume! I have worn it for the last six years, every day! Men love it, but I love it more! Ultra glam! In an old movie star sort of way- not a happy-perky perfume.. more for the Dietrich sort of persona- have to be strong and sure of yourself, as it is quite a "look at me" perfume! Can't go wrong!

  • J11/19/2005

Don't be afraid to try Fracas because of the name. Remember, it was created during the 40's not long after Europe was engulfed in war. Robert Piguet also created Bandit during the same decade. Both are wonderful, and I promise you, you won't smell it on anyone else you know...unless you tell them about it. Do you like to be unique? Fracas is. Just use it lightly.

  • MARJ11/18/2005

to add to your FYI Fracas also means mess which is why I haven't tried it yet, torn as to whether I should.

  • TREVA10/31/2005

I agree with Jan and Annie. This one is a winner. If you don't want to smell like everyone else, this is it. Keep a light touch. Try it, and wait for the good response. But please, can't we keep it a secret. It is hard to fine. Let's keep it that way.

  • ANNIE10/31/2005

Fracas is for the woman who does not want to smell like everyone else in the room. This is one that will stand out. Strong, so don't get too carried away. Just a spritz will do.

  • JAN10/31/2005

This prefume is not for beginners. Also, when people state that a perfume is too strong, just use less of it. You don't have to use it so heavily. A little sprit goes a long way.

  • LAUREN G.10/20/2005

Yech! Who wants to smell like Madonna?! This is as retched and phoney. After dry down you'll smell like molding wet towels.

  • NATALIA10/03/2005

Terrible old-ladiysh, too bold and strong at first, the second note smells just bad, like a horse farm

  • SYLVIE09/15/2005

Fracas is shameless loud and ultra-feminine. It screams: Look at me!!!!! A glamorous, "shocking" diva-perfume. Fracas is fearless and unique. No perfume for beginners. If you like fruity-floral Tuberose scents, Fracas is a must have. For perfume-lovers and collectors a must try! For me Fracas comes in a wrong (black!) packaging. Too serious, elegant and subtle look for this extreme BOLD fragrance! I think the colours shocking-pink, orange and gold for the packaging come next to the scent! Anyway - it's a black magic bottle with a magic, bewitching fragrance... Happy sniffing and greetings from Germany, Sylvie.

  • JAN06/21/2005

Fracas is an outstanding scent that stands on its own. I have never had more compliments on a perfume than Fracas. It is for the woman who is not afraid to "come out from among them and be ye seperate." It takes so little to be above average, and this will truly set you apart from the average.

  • MARISOL05/11/2005

I am trying to like this but cant really tell what it smells like, I detect a sweet suntan lotion scent. What exactly is it supposed to smell of? If it is the suntan lotion smell, yuck!

  • CHLOE.F.PUFF03/05/2005

Based on the rave reviews and the fact that I love florals, I gave Fracas a try. Way too "gardeniaesque" for me, even though it doesn't have gardenia. Didn't realize how much I dislike gardenia until I tried Fracas. Am giving it a good rating, tho, because it's obviously a quality perfume that many people adore - it's working for them.

  • DEBRA01/29/2005

for all of you who say you can't five the frangrance away, I'll be glad to take it off your hands. It's a fabulous fragrance that i fell in love with about 5 years ago. I use nothing else. Would love to accept a "giveaway".

  • STEVIE NICKS01/11/2005

OMG I love this perfume so much. Its smells so heavenly. Everyone who smells it thinks its GREAT. This certain perfume really has to do with ur body chemistery.

  • PIA01/11/2005

Tried to give this away to my sister-in-law who was visiting, she said "no thanks"!!! She wears all types of scents and is not picky at all.I am giving up on this scent cant even give it away!

  • LARAGEMS12/30/2004

I found Fracas to have a waxy smell- like crayons. That is not a good thing.

  • SHARRIE12/24/2004

hypnotizing. a surprising elegance. true love. great in many ways. i wear it in all seasons. wonderful. divine

  • REGINA12/05/2004

I am usually into more citrus scents but I am really loving this scent. When I wear Fracas, I like to layer it with the lotion, powder and just a touch of perfume. It lasts and lasts and less is more.

  • ELIZABETH11/24/2004

Someone mentioned their bottle of EDP started smelling stale. Mine did the same. It took about 6 months for this to happen. I stored in properly too. One day I spritzed it on the the scent was so WRONG, so offensive (not like my beloved Fracas) that I had to leave work and take a shower at home. It smelled like spoiled bug spray. The company should take notice and stop ripping people off when, apparently, only the genuine perfume is worth buying.

  • MERMISS11/18/2004

Fracas...The bottle:gorgeous. The name:mischevious. The history:fascinating. The scent:heavenly. I purchased my first bottle of Fracas about four years ago unsniffed, and though it wasn't what I expected, I had never really smelled a perfume like it before. Nothing else I had ever tried really met its caliber. I don't particularly like florals, until then I had worn Angel for seven or eight years. Fracas is tuberose to be sure, but also soft and a tad grapey. I no longer wear this but I have a soft spot for it, as do most boys and men I have been around, including a staunch punk rocker who couldn't believe how good I smelled. Oddly enough, most *women* did not like when I wore this. Light hand is the watch word, as I will say in almost any review I write. If you have the chance, at least try Fracas.

  • REBECCA11/04/2004

heard this was classy and madonna wears it so i bought it. i sprayed it on and wanted to throw up! my husband yelled what is that ?ewww it smells like a old lady retirement center.he opened the windows. i had to wash my arms off with in 10 minutes and it still lingered on my arm all night. it smells like major strong flowers no softness at all very strong. not pretty and not young at all .very old smelling!

  • AMADAN10/29/2004

I tried this because of the hype. Smells like gardenia, which is fine if you like gardenia. I don't.

  • ROBIN10/11/2004

A twin to Carolina Herrera. Cannot tell them apart. I use Fracas body lotion and Carolina Herrera perfume.Awesome

  • CINDIE09/21/2004

I spent way to much money on this perfume, could of brought something better. But, anyhoo - I guess I will try to like so that it wont' be a complete waste. This is a love it or hate it fragrance. I am still trying to decide.

  • RITA09/03/2004

I have been trying to get back to the scent I originally fell in love with, and Fracas EDP smells a bit like kerosene when I 1st put it on. I have returned it to be told it must be an old bottle. Went to another store only to have same problem?????? Is it just me????????

  • SKA08/21/2004

Released in Spring 2003, I believe, Versace's Jeans Couture 'Woman' (in the spangly, gold rhinestone bottle) is definitely a cousin to Fracas and other similar scents mentioned. It is a light, warm floral.

  • TA08/18/2004

This is one of those types of perfumes that you smell on rich, well-dressed, classy women and wonder what they are wearing! A lovely floral that does not go "powdery" and smells like an "old lady". I will be wearing this as a signature scent. I love it!

  • PIA08/11/2004

As much as i cannot wear this scent I seem to inadvertantly keep bumping into similar scents. A really good twin to Fracas is Victoria Jackson VJ no.3 perfume. You have all heard of her she is a makeup artist that has her own line of makeup kits. She also has three fragrances to her credits, VJ signature, VJ Vanilla and the VJ no.3. I recemtly ordered from her web site my color compacts of blush, lip kit and eyeshadows and found a great bargain of her pure parfum 1.7 oz. no 3 for under 20 doll. so I jumped on it and purchased it. Honestly, identical to Fracas and a little nicer. I have worn it and can tolerate the tuberose on this one better.PS all her fragrances are pure perfume not eau de parfum, signature is very nice an oriental with a splash of floral soft and a little sweet. Have not tried the vanilla yet. PPS, Changed my mind on Fracas and La Chasse aux pappilion being similar, la Chasse is much nicer without that heavy tuberose that smells like suntan lotion.VJ no.3 is light on the tuberose with a softer floral, maybe jasmine, a touch of gardenia too.

  • M07/29/2004

..by people who comment how good it smells and ask what it is. I like Tuberose based perfumes. Fracas is the best but Creeds Tuberose Indiana is also good. Michelle is a little bit to soapy and Fragile has not the same staying power as Fracas and Indiana. After reding the messages here maybe I have to try Carolina Herrera too.

  • LILIANA07/20/2004

I usually enjoy heavy white flower fragrances. Unfortunately, Fracas smelled really bad to me. I can see that with a select few who possess the right type of chemistry it may work. I would say that this is not a fragrance that can easily be worn by most. I recommend smelling it somewhere before buying over the internet.

  • COLEY07/16/2004

A friend of mine who knows I'm a perfumeaholic gave me ta sample fo fracas. It smelled wonderful. The name did not appeal to me and the bottle is just plain ugly but the juice of Fracas is refined, polished, and elegant. This scent smells rich and I adore it!

  • PIA07/16/2004

I just received my gift set from the UPS man and I could not wait to try this. I had smelled it in a store a few years ago and thought it was nice, but not this time. My set has eau de parfum, dusting powder shaker, shower gel, body lotion and a pretty pink shower puff, all this beautifully packaged in a lovely black mesh box with pink trim. But what is inside should count more than the outside. Unfortunately, i am so dissapointed with this. I sprayed out on my front porch after the UPS man left, and two of my cats ran away a couple of minutes later. Obviously they did not like the drydown. At first I smelled plastic, then rubber, then it hit me, suntan lotion the same exact brand I smell when my husband and I go for our weekly walk on the boardwalk of our beloved New Jersey beaches! That's it! So I can see why Sarah Michelle Geller supposedly wears this, she is always in the dark when filming her vampire series and wants a reminder of the sun and beach! Did not detect tuberose at all. The loveliest tuberose scent to me is Carolina Herrera signature fragrance. In conclusion this set will go to a sister-in-law of mine who is mean as a gift. What better way to let her know what i think of her! And for all you Fracas fans I am sorry if I offended any of you. Am sure the fragrance is great on you.

  • MARISA07/09/2004

Glad you can buy it online because I can't find it anywhere. It's like nothing I've worn before and I always get compliments when I wear it. Unfortunately, my ex gave me this as a sample with another scent as a gift. Turns out Fracas was the winner.

  • PIA07/08/2004

L'Artisan perfumes has La Chasse aux Papillion which is very similar to Fracas only a lighter and softer version. I believe the tuberose is the predominant note in both fragrances and of course the gardenia. Chasse is the closest companion to Fracas.

  • BARBARA07/06/2004

I love Fracas. I began using it 2 weeks ago. I will make it my signature. I love the fact that it is not a chain fragrance so everyone is not wearing it. The fragrance smells natural and lifts my mood. I love to wear it any time and any place. I feel sexy and innocent when I wear it; mature and young. It's sweet and white floral and warm. A perfume for all seasons. It's the best. Thank you Robert Piguet.

  • ROSEBLUSH07/04/2004

Fracas is perfect. It is the Queen of all other fragrances! Pure, memorable, provocative, clean, fresh, long lasting, layered, time less, classic, unique, beautiful, natural, universal, divine, honest, cozy, heart happy. The Garden of Eden in a bottle. Go ahead and buy some Fracas and make your world a floral paradise.

  • SKA06/29/2004

There is indeed a cult surrounding this particular perfume, but when trying it, it immediately reminded me of another: Carolina Herrera's signature fragrance. I defy anyone to tell them apart, although Fracas does have undertones of candy or cola, which CH doesn't have. So in my opinion, not at all unique or deserving of the uncompromising devotion that follows it. If you're uneasy about the Fracas hype/cult, try a fragrance more readily available and marginally less expensive: Carolina Herrera. It's a 'pure' floral with little of the sticky sweetness that Fracas can give off.

  • YSOLDE06/16/2004

EVERYONE loves how I smell. People have actually stopped me on the street to ask me what perfume I am wearing. It drives my husband mad! Worn properly, it is a quietly sophisticated fragrance with a perfectly feminine subtext.

  • ELIZABETH SHARON04/04/2004

I have always thougt, since I first smelled this after getting turned on to it by a Latin American, that it had a definite strawberry scent, it also reminds me very much of the scent of wild blue gentian, which I have loved since childhood, but don't know if it has ever been used in perfumes. I noticed, when I had a bottle of the cologne a long time ago, that it seemed to turn and after that I disliked the scent. When it was fresh perfume, I loved scent--it seemed lighter. I have had the same experience with Joy, which I initially disliked very much, but after wearing the perfume (not cologne!) I liked the way it mingled with my skin and developed complexity. I don't think Fracas is a perfume that develops undertones much as it wears.

  • SHERRY D04/04/2004

I first heard of this when I was away at college and met a wealthy Argentinean who had lived in France--he gave me my first bottle of Joy, but also introduced me to Fracas, his personal favorite, that he said me and women both wore ?? The unique scent of Fracas or just heariing its name brings a rush of memories of those times in the 60's, of him, of a sense of deja vu when smelling it and trying to place the fruit-floral scent...I have noticed some modern knockoffs in the last few years

  • NOT SO OLD04/03/2004

I have worn this for about 15 years. I where this and Opium. I like the smell of Fracas but I get more and better compliments from wearing Opium.

  • KELLEY03/11/2004

I have worn this scent for nearly 20 years. It can only be bought at Holt Renfrew and Enchante in Canada. I thought the pure top note was gardenia, however. Excellent summer daytime fragrance that people always comment upon.

  • MELH03/08/2004

This is a very powerful and good fragrance. On my skin it becomes pure gardenia and tuberose. It's heavy, I know, and many people are not keen on this kind of smells. Fracas seems to have no fresh/head notes, only middle of bottom, so it gives that heavy floral effect. I think that it's perfect at nightime. During the day in a closed place it could be annoying (depending on the amount you put on!) I read somewhere and a man in Rome told me the same, that tuberose is a very erotic smell which stimulates our 1° chakra - the "base" one! - and it's attractive but also aggressive for men, who could feel "harassed"! I don't know wheter it is true or not. The name "fracas" (meaning "noisy quarrel" or "noise") suggest not so a quiet perfume ;-)

  • MISSMERMAID12/01/2003

Nico I would love this perfume- I will pay for the postage. Please contact me at [email protected]. I've had a month of disasters- this would really cheer me up... thanks- you are an Xmas angel!

  • NICO11/05/2003

Finally I managed to get one bottle, but really it's not for me. Does anybody want it?

  • JULES11/04/2003

I have been wearing Fracas since 1958, over 40 years. It is the only perfume that men ask what I am wearing. My husband adored it. I don't think it's OLD LADY. Blue Grass is OLD LADY. Sorry Ms. Arden.

  • LIA07/25/2003

I've heard "fracas" translated as "commotion," which makes a lot of sense... as in, you will cause a commotion if you wear this divine scent!

  • OLIVE07/21/2003

I was curious about what fracas smelled like because it has been around so long and is still popular, so I went to a specialty store to check it out. I was kind of disappointed -- it is not really unique at all, it smells like tons of gardenia. It is SUPER heavy on the white flowers. I wouldn't wear it.

  • BETH06/23/2003

This is mine. I'll wear it till the day I die. A to die for.

  • MURKI06/09/2003

Hmmm, wonder if you had a bad sample? I never argue with other people's opinions on perfume, chemistry is unexplainable! Maybe try it again?

  • MURKI06/09/2003

That's a good way to describe it, but it's not cloyingly sweet. It's just so unique. The lotion is nice, not greasy at all. Shower gel is good too..

  • LORRAINE06/04/2003

The literal translation of fracas is *noisy quarrel.* Would anyone know the history of how/why this DIVINE and delicious fragrance came to be named Fracas???

  • LORRAINE06/04/2003

One word describes Fracas--DIVINE. This fragrance represents heaven right here on Earth. Bless Robert Piguet....He is deserving of sainthood.

  • KBN06/04/2003

As I said previously, everytime I wore Fracas I couldn't decide if I liked it or not, it annoys me for some reason. One day last month my daughter asked me what I was wearing, when I asked her why, she said I smelled "old", "pretty but old". I finally decided to give the body cream to my mom and the perfume and lotion to my sister.

  • MAGGIE06/03/2003

My girlfriend and I were introduced to Fracas at a fragrance festival. It was the surprise fragrance of choice for both of us (we are typically drawn to different scents). I bought all the body products and have found that the lotion layered under the perfectly scented, sparkly powder along with one spritz of the edp makes for a whisper soft scent that lingers enticingly throughout the day. They are currently reformulating their body creme which I can't wait for!! FYI, those who like Michael, by Michael Kors will be interested to know that it was patterned after Fracas, which explains why my girlfriend and I were both drawn to it since we are Michael addicts as well! The downside to this fragrance is that it strikes me as a spring maybe early summer scent, whereas Michael seems easily worn througout the year.

  • MARIE06/02/2003

    FYI, it's frah-kah. not frack-ass.

  • JOY05/30/2003

I did not like this one; tried it a couple of years ago. Nothing special at all.

  • DEIDRA05/30/2003

I don't usually give horrible ratings? But this reminds me of an old attic smell. Did they use any flowers when they made this stuff? It doesn't smell like a woman, It doesn't even smell like a man!!

  • PEB05/28/2003

I agree, it is a pleasant scent hard to describe kind of sweet candy like when I wear it I have a good day !!!

  • MURKI05/14/2003

Though it's an older fragrance, it's very modern and unique. Wore it in college and had all the girls on the floor borrowing it. Mom wore it when I was a child and it just smells like good memories!

  • PEB05/10/2003

I don't think this smells "old" as I am assuming "old lady" I think it has been around a lot which makes it old. But as far as smelling old ladyish? no way, it is a classic and very sophisticated smell, a bit candylike too

  • PEB05/08/2003

I have the edp and it smells great to me not stale at all

  • KBN05/07/2003

I wore this back in early 90's and loved it. Asked for it for Christmas, got it and now can't decide if i like it. It's pretty and annoying at the same time. I have the body cream and lotion which are both very very oily... so much so that it separates... This morning my five year old daughter asked me what I was wearing when I asked why, she told me I smelled old... pretty but old...

  • ANDREA04/29/2003

Does anyone else agree that the EDP smells stale? Are all these comments based on EDP or Parfum??? Help..... Thanks

  • NICO04/17/2003

I'd really like to smell it, but it seems impossible to find in Italy. My favourites are Valentino Classic, Chanel 5 and 19, Cristalle, Paris, Amarige, First. Am I on the right way?

  • PEB04/16/2003

I am not usually a fan of flowery scent but this one is so nice!!! It really is strong when you first put it on but then dries down to a beautiful candy-like scent, Hard to describe but very unique.

  • KAYE04/11/2003

Jutta, are you in Syracuse, NY?

  • JUTTA03/11/2003

I bin wearing Fracas for over 30 years. It gets harder to find as time goes by.It is my all time favorite. Please, restock!

  • JANICE03/02/2003

I first discovered Fracas in the Bahamas(about 30 yrs. ago).To this day it is still my favorite fragrance. It can be difficult to find,so,PLEASE,don't stop carrying it!

  • EURY01/07/2003

This smells like what we've grown up thinking perfume should be -- light, feminine, flowery, but not cloying or too sweet. The deeper notes are almost like gardenia, a very hard floral to reproduce (even in "gardenia" fragrances). It reminds me of "old money", the fragrance equivalent of the "one good hat".

  • JAN12/19/2002

I've been wearing it for almost 30 years...a girl had brought it back from a trip to Paris, and it was only sold at Bendels. It's my all time favorite, very distinctive, not well known, intoxicating gardenia tones. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone!

  • GEN12/17/2002

I keep going back and forth with this one. I just had to have it a few years back and when I got a bottle I wore it everyday and used it all up almost. I adore white florals but the EDP has this almost stale note in it. I have heard that the parfum is to die for. I really want to try it. This is a scent that I will put on and think oh why then my husband will get near me and say Gosh you smell good. So who knows. I must try the parfum though.

  • BONNIE12/01/2002

I bought a miniature and loved it, and bought it. I wore it and my husband hated it. He does not seem to like white florals. Anyway, I liked it, but it started to nauseate me. I am trying to come back, I am wearing it here and there, to test myself.

  • PDD10/17/2002

Very sexy, seductive, romantic. It is my number one fragrance and yes, men and women alike adore the scent.

  • ELIZABETH09/17/2002

What do you think of Fracas eau de parfum spray vs. the pure perfume?

  • JO 205/27/2002

    My fave!

  • ~L~05/16/2002

It's too sickening sweet for me. It smells like overpowering, rotten flowers. I don't like to wear it or smell it, but my daughter loves it. She says it smells like sweet old ladies.

  • VICKI04/29/2002

It was first launched in 1948.It is made up of tuberose, jasmine, jonquil, lily of the valley, white iris,&pink geranium.I have used this since I was 20 now 50. Have even had men follow me to ask what it is...

  • TRACY04/17/2002

But decided I loved it after I wore it a couple of times. My husband initially complained that I had done an overload, so the next time I used common sense and applied less. Great stuff!!! I can see that most of us either love it or hate it. I sorta got addicted to it and it'll be perfect for sumer.

  • PERFUMELOVER04/05/2002

Hi! Comptoir Sud Pacifique: "Kahmp-twar Sood Pahsi-feek". Fracas: "Frah-kah" Hope this helps!

  • CARLA04/02/2002

I am really curious about this one. I know other tuberose scents-Fragile-Blonde-Caroline Herrera, Gianfranco Ferre, Chloe...I prefer Gian Franco Ferre of these. Is Fracas very sweet like Herrea, more like Chloe or more like Blonde?

  • WEEPIEJEAN04/01/2002

Marlow, regarding your suggestion for adding a drop or two of musk oil to Fracas, would you be so kind as to recommend a brand or two which you have enjoyed?

  • RORY03/29/2002

I have been wearing this scent for over twenty years. Where ever I go people either say "your waering Fracas" or "what are you wearing" I have read that it is very popular with the elite in Europe.

  • SHERE'E03/22/2002

I dont think it smell like old ladies and Im not old. It is a very sophisticated(a word that is not even used or practiced anymore) also not so trendy. Shere'e

  • CARLA03/18/2002

I live here in Athens Greece.I have heard about Fracas and I cannot find it!!Can anyone tell me how i can get a sample of it or a close imitation??Thanks...email me at: [email protected]

  • JACQUELYN02/28/2002

I no longer wear anything except Fracas. It is the most intense, sensual fragrance and it only takes a touch to last ALL day. If you are heavy handed, forget it! My husband said it smells like candy in the bottle but fell head over heels once I put it on. That's a good thing!

  • LIZ02/28/2002

I'd like to know how you pronounce "Comptoir sud Pacifique"...I don't speak French and I would really like to know...think I almost have it but not quite sure.

  • LIZ02/26/2002

This is another fragrance for all you floral lovers out there! Not my personal choice but really quite nice if you like flowery scents.

  • CYNTHIA02/18/2002

I had to smell Fracas after reading that it's the favorite fragrance of both Courtney Love and Martha Stewart. Sadly, I didn't like it. If fact, it produced a distinctly negative response -- something very cloying and unpleasant about it. Definitely a "love it or hate it" fragrance. By the way, how does one pronounce "Fracas"?

  • SALI01/21/2002

Fracas to me is a potent tuberose composition with a touch of peach and a whole lot of sweetness. I believe this to be one of the most beautiful, feminine perfumes ever created, but I understand why people either love it or hate it; it's rather in-your-face and not for everyone.

  • ANDROMEDA01/20/2002

And not just 'cuz the book says it is. This is an ultra feminine, voluptuous white floral with a peachiness. It smells a little candy-like, too. Love it!!!

  • LARA12/11/2001

This smells wonderful, but I am wondering...in NYC I can get a mini of "parfum" that's $2.50...it seems to be 1/8 oz. and not .068 oz. like your mini EDP. Isn't "parfum" like your mini in the set the real perfume, and EDP only Eau de Parfum, because at Bergdorf Goodman in NYC, Fracas is $185 an ounce, but I am getting at my retail source for 8 x 2.50 = $20 an ounce parfum! I guess I gotta deal, eh? I'll nevva tell!

  • BECCA09/27/2001

No more good messages! I've looked for a new signature fragrance for over 2 years. No one else where I currently live knows about it (and won't from me). Let's just keep it quiet.

  • KRIS09/25/2001

Whenever I smell Fracas I think of soft, dry old ladies who smell delicious when they give you a peck on the cheek. Yet a young woman could wear this too and it would complement her perfectly. Extremely feminine.

  • MAGGIE09/04/2001

Sweet, heady, unique. Just what perfume should be like.:)

  • Just a hint to all of you who love this fragrance...add a drop or two of musk oil to an ounce of the perfume, men will follow you anywhere.

  • RETTA07/26/2001

I wore Fracas years and years ago. But was unable to locate it when the department store I was getting from closed. I have found it again, but only in very very small bottles...where can i get more than just a mini of it. I absolutely love Fracas and everytime I wear it, men stand closer to me...

  • PATTY07/16/2001

I have been searching for a new signature fragrance for years and Fracas is the answer. My husband loves it too. Its mysterious and very warm and sexy. Love It!!

  • NURSE PEBBLES07/14/2001

I like this one too:) a floral... Top Notes: Bergamot, peach, orange blossom, greens Heart Notes: Tuberose, rose, jasmine, carnation, orris Base Notes: Sandalwood, cedarwood, moss, musk

  • RUBY07/08/2001

yes, i agree however, i like fracas a tiny bit better lots of tuberose in there i think

  • MARY07/06/2001

I was introduced to Fracas some 25 years ago, and like all the preceding messages, fell in love with it. Recently, I purchased Blonde by Versace. . . VERY COMPARABLE! Tell me what YOU think.

  • JOLENE05/15/2001

Fracas is the fragrance world's best kept secret! I love it's obscurity. I also adore the way it smells, and so does my husband. It is now my signature scent. I love it so much, I doubt I'll ever stop wearing it. It smells very fresh and light like white flowers, and I believe it has a touch of pink geranium as well. The bottle is jet black - very sleek and classy. I think this has got to be my all-time favorite perfume!

  • DANA05/06/2001

i have been wearing fracas for at least 25 years!!! it's the most beautiful fragrance ever. it has gardenia undertones that are very sexy and clean smelling. if you put it on in the morning and just touch it with a drop of water in the afternoon, it is totally renewed. i love that. i can refresh my perfume all day just by touching it with water.

  • RAQUEL04/22/2001

Fracas is the best smelling perfume EVER! It has a very fresh smell, like white flowers. It smells very modern. It's hard to believe it came out in 1948! I highly recommended this scent.
