  • JAZMIN04/20/2010

I LOVE this scent...not sure why, but it drives me wild...I recognize it anywhere and without even seeing who is wearing it, it gets me feeling frisky. I'm not even kidding! All the women that I know that I have had smell it - agree that it smells great, maybe not as strongly as I do, but close! (Though, as with any scent, it should be tested - I am sure it doesn't work on EVERYONE...)

  • PAOLO09/12/2008

this dosen't smell like coconut at all, at least for me.... it's just an illusion. I also thought so before, but after putting it on again after a couple of times, it dosen't smell... I love my bottle

  • SILKY01/04/2008

I am shocked that this has gotten such a good rating on here as it isn't a masculine scent at all. I do agree that there does seem to be a coconut note that isn't listed as one of the notes for this fragrance so I am thinking it must be the fig. If you don't like fig/coconut type of fragrances or gourmand fragrances in general, this will not be a "hit" for you.

  • TONYGIO11/03/2007

though I am not as passionate about the putridness of this stuff as kmf is, I think he has pretty much summed it up. I've only tried the aftershave, but even that takes at least 2 (or 3!) hours to turn bearable...

  • KMF10/10/2007

Repulsive, nauseating, vile, putrid... An absolutely horrid concoction...

  • KNIGHT08/04/2007

So here we are summer of 2007 and Marc Jacobs STILL stands apart from the sea of mediocrity that keeps flooding the men's market. A keeper in my 50-plus collection.

  • JUDI W*04/16/2007

I tried this on me & my son, and he didn't like it at all. He said, all he smelled was coconut. On me, it was nice for 10 minutes, but soon smelled watery & boring. It's not very masculine, but if your not into that, then maybe you would like it. Not potent enough for me, but some people like more subtle fragrances. I don't want a guy to smell like a fig or a coconut, but some women might...

  • THEBEST08/13/2006

if you want to pick up women, use this or use Hanae Mori. I've never gotten so many compliments before. Women will go up to you to smell you... and of course you can just push them away! haha

  • ROB07/08/2006

Couldn't agree more. If you like pina coloadas, this is for you. Personally, I like getting caught in the rain.

  • MAG07/02/2006

I love this scent. It is fresh and mysterious at the same time and it lasts. I think it is more unisex than typically masculine smell and being a woman does not prevent me from wearing it all the time.

  • VICTOR RICHLAND CREIGHTON III05/14/2006

This is a pretty sophisticated scent but thought I was in for more of a surprise with its somewhat unique notes but ended up with a semi-spicy/woody aroma with this coconut linger which definitely makes it different than most guys' colognes I've smelled.

  • X.G.03/09/2006

Decided to sample based on the rather unique notes it contains and ruled out a strong coconut-smelling cologne that's one of those kinds that possibly you have to have an acquired taste for it.

  • JASON BOURNE01/22/2006

Recently, I've just discovered how tonka can be poisonous and carcinogenic. Can anyone suggest a near copy of Marc Jacobs that does not contain tonka?

  • WES CLEMENS01/16/2006

Better-than-average modern GQ fragrance is fairly bold with a nice coconut linger to it, but the drydown could be better.

  • WIRANA, THE ALCHEMIST12/22/2005

is because it's a feminine fragrance better suited for the ladies... it does not mean that this is an ideal cologne for men even if it attracts women! If a lady were to wear a fragrance that reminds men of the leather of a football or the smoking rubber of a ford GT, I'm sure more men would be attracted to her...NOT! Gosh this beautiful flowery scent is not for men to wear even if it were "designed" to attract women. Anyway, I didn't find the scent unique at all although it smells okay. This is one good example where you mix exotic elements but only to produce a generic scent. You should try Sander for men by Jil Sander for the better option. You'll be amazed and the ladies will love you for smelling exotically masculine.

  • ONG-BAK12/19/2005

All I really have to say about this fragrance is sophistication spiked with coconut.

  • TONY T12/14/2005

average, but what are you talking about harvard. 1985 is tsar, ralph and the hellacious tiffany. marc is very 2000ish and although not set apart it is a fairly decent cologne. would buy but i am just like mr. testaverde, already 2 many colognes. i wanna give this one 3 stars but because of the price it gets an easy 4.

  • HARVARD SMELL GOOD12/01/2005

OK..I know this is 2005 and that Marc J. created this cologne around 2002...but why do we have to smell like we still live in the 1980's. Cologne making is an expertise...Marc needs to go back to the masters. I tested this stuff on myself (as did my cousin and a couple of my buddies here at Harvard) and the stuff just doesn't stop stinking. I can't say it any more plainly. Also, a pina colada smells much better than this concoction of old tanning lotion.

  • MARCO TESTAVERDE11/22/2005

I do somewhat agree with the Cologne Lover that depending on your chemistry that it will flat-out just smell like coconut or pina colada only. I myself like pina colada but then again I wouldn't wear this particular scent on a daily basis being that it's more on the GQ side of my collection in which case I'll only wear it at certain times averaging maybe 2 or 3 days out of the month also because my collection is currently at 31 so I stagger my colognes.

  • COLOGNE LOVER11/19/2005

OK, i'll be honest. I like coconut...but i've been wearing this for about a month and the ladies (and some guys) ask me why i'm always wearing coconut cologne. I could pay a lot less for some coconut lotion or something. If you like smelling like a pina colada this is for you...but i'd get tired of that...i have gotten tired of that.

  • BIGNUTZ11/17/2005

AWESOME GQ COLOGNE IS VERY DISTINCT AND SOPHISTICATED AND SMELLS DIFFERENT THAN ANY COLOGNE I OWN............BEING THAT IT'S THE ONLY ONE THAT SMELLS A LITTLE LIKE A COCONUT.

  • STEVE11/14/2005

This has to be one of the best scents for men ever. It has many layers and developes wonderfully. This scent is as well made as a lot of womens perfumes. Surprising considering how bland the mens fragrance market is. Dont expect this to have a horrid "cologney" smell to it like so many mens scents do. To me this is pure Gardenia. Gardenia isnt listed as a note in this fragrance but to me this smells exactly like Gardenia. As a matter of fact, it is almost identical to the womens version (yes, i have and wear the womens version too)except marc jacobs for men isnt quite as sweet. I cant say enough good things about this.

  • P.T. STOCTOROCTON11/04/2005

Very modern and sophisticated cologne that has this coconut linger in it that I really love and I get endless compliments wherever I go when I'm wearing it.

  • ANDREA10/29/2005

Excellent fragrance. Bought if for my boyfriend's birthday year ago, he loved it. It's gone now, so who can recommend me better one??

  • KEN10/13/2005

Nice one but not the best...too coconut but all the other scents are mixed well...and then come out nicely...not a sharp strong spicy scented cologne...but soft and strangly nice one!

  • KENNETH V. RICHELIEU10/02/2005

Great coconut-smelling cologne for the price, has decent lasting power and at the same time is rather bold and classy as well.

  • JAVELIN09/24/2005

This Marc Jacobs cologne won the FF Award. With this cologne, a man gets a subtle, long-lasting, and elegant scent. Well worth the money.

  • K. WIMPINO09/06/2005

Other than the bottle (the 4.2oz. in particular) being a little wide and bulky making it bit difficult to spray, I have no complaints about this sophisticated and refined fragrance that has a nice touch of coconut to it.

  • Z.G. ARCHIBALD07/30/2005

A GQ fragrance blended with coconuts which is what makes it stick out from the rest of my colognes in my collection. Great compliments all the time.

  • RITA05/03/2005

I own both MJ for women & Essence, but tried MJ for men on myself because I wanted to compare it with Diptyque's Phylosikos - I wound up loving the Mj for men much more, even though the two are almost identical in dry down. Mj for men has more fig & cocnut in the dry down, which makes it very sweet & pleasant. Marc Jacobs should have made this his "unisex" scent. It is far more elegant and orginal than anything Calvin Klein ever created in his 90's citrus heyday. This is a beautiful fragrance with amazing staying power. What I love about it is you can smell every note that's in it. And that, to me, is the mark of a master perfumer.

  • MARIO JUSTINIANI04/16/2005

And this is the scent to do it with. I'll smell like a Pina Colada but it'll be l worth it. The ladies love it. Yep , ladies. Don't expect to pick up too many chicks at a biker bar with this one. Way too classy. Ironically, it's the man in his 20's who would probably do best with this cologne and yet is least likely to use it as he would have to forego his fantasies of smelling like Conan.---Unless barbarians work as tennis pros these days. The ingredients are impressively blended in perfect harmony--no mean feat--got the Fi Fi (love that macho name) award and well deserved it. One moere thing, do not expect compliments from fellow men. This one's a melody for her.

  • DAN03/13/2005

best cologne...smells like a mix of beach and coconuts...a must have!

  • KAT02/25/2005

It's my favorite scent for boys, it's not overpowering like most other fragrances. It's light, but seductive and headturner. You must try it...

  • CAIUS02/19/2005

A clean, woody, and sophisticated fragrance unlike any other. I will purchase this fragrance and add it to my collection. Highly recommended.

  • JESSE GUDINO02/03/2005

oh boy, i am a constant cigarette smoker and you know how that stuff is. it stinks. well, after i smoke i spray this on and you cant really smell it anymore. it has a very long lasting scent and smells great. i like this girl danielle that i met and she absolutely loves it. she says it is the best cologne she has smelt on a guy in a long time. i want all guys to purchase this one. A+++

  • IVAN12/28/2004

This Scent is great! Women have just come up to me and asked what is that great smell!!!

  • ALAN G.12/18/2004

i dont have this but i did tried the sample and this really smell wonderful! i must buy this...

  • JAIME10/15/2004

i bought this cologne because veronica said all men should buy it. she was right. i like it alot. THANX VERO............thumbs up. i hope i get alot of chicks now.

  • OMARV10/03/2004

this is a fantastic scent lasted several hours on me .... very vibrant scent .... one of my top colognes ...

  • R.J.08/30/2004

ANOTHER FINE, EXQUISITE SCENT THAT DOESN'T LAST VERY LONG. WHAT A SHAME. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT FOR ROMANTIC USE, IN WHICH IT WOULD DEFINITELY NOT BE WASTED. IT JUST NEEDS MORE STRENGTH. OTHER THAN THAT, I CAN'T COMPLAIN.

  • ROB H. 06/08/2004

A GQ scent slammed with coconut. How do you like them apples?

  • MR. DESIRE05/03/2004

This cologne drives all my women crazy...well actually I do but it doesn't hurt.

  • ADEEL04/23/2004

First of all i love the name Marc Jacobs it just sounds really classy. The fragrance itself is good but it does have a strong coconut tone to it......good but not the best.

  • W.B.04/02/2004

I SMELLED THIS RECENTLY AND I THOUGHT THIS COULD EASILY BE A UNISEX COLOGNE WITH THE FEMININE TOUCH IT SEEMED TO HAVE. HOWEVER, WHEN TIME PASSED, IT BECAME MORE MASCULINE THAN I THOUGHT. IT'S A NICE, CLEAN SMELL. A FUTURE ITEM IN MY COLLECTION.

  • AARON03/15/2004

Tried this from a department store and thought it was too sweet and ladylike. Nevertheless, hours went by on the sample card I was given and this thing smelled really good. I know girls like it a lot. Jacobs and Chanel's Allure are the top two feminine like sweet fragrances which work really well on guys and are for guys. Give it a shot.

  • JOHN03/07/2004

This is a totally unique and refreshing change of pace. I've used other colognes, mostly the Ungaro Men fragrances, and they're way too heavy. Marc Jacobs Men is green and woodsy, really classy too. I don't find any coconut smell. I also dont find it soapy at all. Although it does tend to dissipate quicker than I'd like.

  • CHRIS COLOGNE12/10/2003

A very unique smell. It does smell like coconut, probably due to the fig note, which is quite strong. A definite must have for the collector who likes the "funky" unusual scents.

  • SKIPPY10/25/2003

It is different. It's one of those scents that I "just don't know what to make of it." I think it's perhaps a little flat, Clean and perhaps a bit soapy? Definitely not sickening and won't make you queasy. For those who don't like anything too musky but also tired of too much citrus. I'll give it a good, but don't think it's an every day scent. I'd suggest it as one to rotate between some of your tried and true scents. One for collectors

  • VERONICA10/13/2003

All men must get this scent! It is so different from most scents. Totally sophisticated, great for evenings. My boyfriend wears it and I can't get enough of him. ;)

  • ARINDAM10/13/2003

Finally I found something with a new and fresh smell. This is awesome.

  • FERNANDO CAMPOS09/29/2003

I really like this scent! This is a true buy for those who can appreciate a good smell. You can't go wrong with Marc.

  • CINDY09/17/2003

I have smelled this on a couple of guys and in both cases loved it. A nice change from the stronger scents of recent years!

  • DAVE09/03/2003

For those of you fragrance neophytes who can't appreciate a fine fragrance, this is one of my favorites. I don't have the issue with the fragrance not lasting. I have received many compliments on this fragrance. Coconuts would be lucky to smell this good. Ladies, any of you have an opinion on this one?

  • PRICE08/31/2003

I honestly don't smell any coconut when I apply this cologne. What I do smell is a wonderful, green scent. There are definitely notes of woods and florals in this. For those who fear that the florals may make this cologne smell less than masculine, I urge them to try it. You won't be disappointed with the scent. However, you may be disappointed with this scent's longevity. It's very light and doesn't seem to last unless you spray it on several times. As long as you're willing to put a lot on, this is a great fragrance.

  • GENE08/18/2003

That guy below nailed it when he said it smelled like coconut. Whatever it is in it it's putrid. Course there are some notes in it that are not too bad but it's not a colonge you would want to smell yourself. It's one of those colonges for others to smell on you. Waste of money.

  • MAURICIO07/31/2003

YES, IS COCONUT SMELL BUT FANTASTIC AND ORIGINAL, NO OTHER COLOGNE SMELLS LIKE THIS. IF SOME PEOPLE LOVE CHOCOLATE, VANILLA AND SOME FRUITY FRAGANCES WHY NOT COCONUT?.

  • MAURICIO07/23/2003

On these days is too hard to find a totally new smell like this. Yes at first it smells like coconut, but it turns better wen dries after five minutes. An excellent choice if looking for something new

  • HAL C.07/06/2003

This stuff is absolutly nasiating to me and it smells like suntan lotion not some ritzy high class cologne like mentioned below. Thank God I only got a mini of this garbage.

  • DAN07/03/2003

Soft smelling fragrance. Smells like coconut, but in a delicious way. Excellent.

  • MARCUS06/09/2003

this is for a formail night wear and smells better on pople with olive skin not an everyday use

  • BRIAN05/28/2003

I got a mini of this. Sounded good at the time. Too bad it smells bad. Well not horrible but close to it. It is far from being a elegant scent for one. Doesn't hold a candle to Bvlgari and I wouldn't wear this with my City Streets suit much less a LeTigre shirt from Kmart. If you like coconut you'll like this cause that is all I smell. Very disapointed on this and the overhyped reviews at the bottom.

  • MATT05/22/2003

Old lady smell too floral! GAG!

  • FRAGRANCE COLLECTOR05/20/2003

I have 44 colognes (all full-size) and this is one of my favorites. It's sweet and elegant. HOWEVER, it doesn't seem to last very long, as someone has already mentioned.

  • MES02/16/2003

very classy, elegant scent. it compliments a well dressed man.

  • STU02/03/2003

i do love this cologne but it doesn't last very long. you definitely gotta reapply it.

  • STU01/31/2003

This is a great fragrance. Surprised it's not mentioned under Givenchy fragrances since that's who makes it. Elegant - not for the Tommy, Cool Water crowd.

  • JOHN01/27/2003

wonderful fragrance, best cologne ive seen in a while.

  • COLLECTOR12/03/2002

    About this fragance...Elegant.
