I bought my first bottle of Calvin in 1978 in era of every Chaps and Drakar filled disco joints in Los Angeles. Even using it generously, it didn't kill anyone on any recording session I worked in. The scent lingered gracefully well into the night. This new version is a bit watered down, but still a good scent.

as of this day, it is one of may favorites, the best from calvn

  • CLASSIC TASTE10/09/2010

This is my all time favorite cologne. What could possibly be a good reason for discontinuing it?

  • SUBMARINER01/07/2008

Has been, still is, very hard to find lately. I was on a date at the Hard Rock Cafe in Honolulu (girlfriend sitting beside me), and the "bartendress" leaned over, grabbed my arm and asked - "WHAT are you wearing???" Cologne is supposed to have that effect, ya know? Sorry that some younger ladies don't like it, but I don't know of any colognes out there that smell like Video Games!!! Touche'!

Masculine? Yes. Sleazy? Yes. What does it smell like? Well, its an extremely HEAVY musk scent with some tarragon (black pepper) mixed in - similar to "12" by Jean de Couturier. About the only thing scarier than the smell of this juice is its high level of artificial musk. Just Google (polycyclic musk) and see for yourself.

I did not know that they reissued this cologne some time ago. It appears that this may have been discontinued again. This is a great cologne that goes well with my own body chemistry. I like this almost as much as my favorite which is TSAR, which is also being discontinued... ):

I have been looking for another bottle of this stuff and recently learned that it has been discontinued. This was in my opinion a little similar to Paco Rabanne, but maybe a little bit warmer and better than Paco. If anyone knows of any other fragrances like this, let me know. This has turned into an unfortunate discontinued classic.

I've been wearing this cologne since it was first introduced; and was at a loss when CK discontinued it for a time. It is a great balanced fragrance for a man (definitely not for she-boys). It always breaks the ice with women when matters turn physical. But do me a favor, and don't buy it--it's so much better that few men wear it. Got Peace?

  • NIKITA 03/12/2005

Bought this cologne because I thought it would smell modern like the others. So disappointed. Gave it away it was so bad.

  • DIRK H10/19/2004

This is the first quality cologne I bought. I bought it in the Army almost 20 years ago. It is a excellent scent. Later, I bought a bottle when I was in college and the girl who worked there never smelled it, but once she did, she was genuinely impressed, which is somewhat rare being most sales girls in high price stores recommend the new scents with the highest commision rates.

Calvin is a unique scent that never fails to elicit positive compliments when I wear it (particularly from females). It is a stronger, masculine scent with excellent longevity that is an ideal alternative to the lighter and simpler "grassy" or the "sweet" scents that are so pervasive in the current market. A perfect casual/semi-casual fall day scent that will also fit exceptionally well with romantic evenings any time during the year.

This is probably the best fragrance Calvin Klein has made. It can be used for formal occasions, as well as with jeans. It is an exquisite fragrance. Everyone that smells it loves it, including my sister, which is never lost for words when it comes to critisism.

  • RAY FRENSHAM08/02/2003

Does ANYBODY know where we can still get our hands on the Original fragrance that this was - it was SO subtle, almost talcum poiwdery in its subtlety. Although the 1999 reissue was like the original it wasn't on the button, but still good enough. Contact me [email protected]

  • 14.03.03.03/14/2003

It stinks when you put it on, but for 10 minutes you have really clean perfume that lasts whole day.

  • CJ01/23/2003

This goes out to hollis and pb> What makes your nose's the one that nose all!!! im 35 and started using it when I was 18 or so and everyone from old to young really loved it and I still do and still use it and everyone from old to young still to this day love it ..Maybe you’re too young to appreciate a good smell or maybe just too immature or just need to have your smeller checked?? No but all jokes aside everyone has there opinion but I just don’t understand how thousands of people like the smell of something and one or two don’t?

  • HOLLIS12/29/2002

I'm sorry but this cologne RAAANNNKKKK!! everything that PB says is true and it is so strong and if anyone compliments it, they are probably either old or have trouble smelling, it is right up there with English leather and Pierre Cardin and Calvin Klien Obssession, I think Calvin Klien should seriously STOP making colognes...this one RANK!

  • PB12/25/2002

UGH! this stuff smells so so dated! right up there with drug store scents like english leather. If your 40 bald you may want this one. I'm much to young to ever want this stuff. Uhg...pee-uuu!

  • JASON11/04/2002

I have always gotten strong compliments from this cologne. I'm also glad they brought it back.

  • PATTIE JOHNSON02/01/2002

I am SO glad Calvin Klein has brought back the "Calvin" fragrance. My husband has always loved this fragrance and so do I. It smells wonderful! He was very disappointed when they discontinued this fragrance a few years ago and nothing smells quite like it. He was always getting compliments when he wore it. He looked for it everywhere after they discontinued it. Thank God for him, they decided to bring it back!

  • K. PEOPLES03/07/2001

Case, I haven't bought Calvin in about 5 years, but it's okay. I think it was too light for my tastes, but I remember getting some compliments about the fragrance...actually you should be able to get it at a rather reasonable price(19.99-28.00) at colonge/perfume shopes... I think it would be a great 2nd or 3rd choice selection in your stock. Adieu.

  • CASE11/21/2000

Have any of ya'll heard of this fragrance "Calvin"???? I've never heard of it. What's it smell like? Thanx.
