Excellent. My go to after shave.

  • K. GRANT09/08/2011

Bought this without smelling it first at a drugstore in Canada. I was attracted by the nice box. This stuff is amazing! Definitely not for the faint of heart. I am not so sure this could be a unisex fragrance, though. Great sillage and lasts all day. You will not go wrong!

  • KENNETH V. RICHELIEU05/03/2011

A bold and manly experience and definitely not for all tastes. Inexpensive, long-lasting and seems relatively hard to find these days but a great find if you do.

  • MIGUELITO12/16/2010

Like soap and water, clean, but.., different! can't say that I smell any 'tobacco' scent, ( thank God!) This does last. This is well worth the money!

  • STAN CARLTON10/14/2009

I was originally introduced to this by a friend from Germany. At hte time I don't believe it was avialable in the US, so I had him bring me a bottle. Been using it ever since, and that been Many! years

  • GRETCHEN03/21/2007

It does smell a lot like Chanl No 5- with a bit more depth (and a lot cheaper!) I'm so glad I tried this- I agree it would be a great unisex scent. I haven't had the pleasure of smelling it on a man...mmm.

  • BARDAMU09/11/2006

This fragrance can be worn by a teen or adult with the same timeless results...unique, fresh, long lasting scent that trancends the boundaries of time.

  • ED03/24/2006

I agree with the commentators that love this classic masculine scent. Where, though, can I purchase the complete line of Tabac products in a brick and mortar store in the Chicago area? Please contact me at [email protected] if you know. Thanks!

As its name suggests, the strong tobacco scent is identifiable in the top notes and this makes TABAC distinguishable in a crowded room. The base notes are powdery and a bit like onions. BUT the middle notes smell putrid like rotten eggs not strong but definitely there. Not for any formal, romantic or office occasions.

  • Z.G. ARCHIBALD01/09/2006

Bold and manly vintage fragrance is most suitable for the 40 and older bracket and is a classic among tobacco colognes.

  • DUC12/19/2005

Classic and masculine floral fragrance with warm tobacco and sensual vanilla make this a selection for the gents in their late 30s and older.

If one of the designer houses had developed this you would be paying a fortune for it. Let's raise our hands in gratitude they didn't. You could not get a more manly fragrance than this. I get a 300ml bottle of cologne for 13 quid (about 20 bucks) it is the best value fragrance I have ever had. To all you youngsters out there, you can't do much better than this. Forget all that soppy expensive sweet girl stuff you cover yourselves in, try man stuff instead. Tell them Groucho said so.

  • ROB H.10/16/2005

A rather bold and masculine cologne that seems more appropriate for cigar lovers in which case if you like CIGAR cologne and maybe Tabarome then you'll probably like this one.

  • MARCO TESTAVERDE06/14/2005

A one of a kind bold and masculine experience that the women love and won't break your bank. And for those young guys out there that are afraid you'll smell like an old fart with a formula from 1959, you won't but try it if you dare!

  • AMAR12/29/2004

its having nice long lasting original smell ! any1 would love it ! i simply love it ... its 1st choice in my collection of almost 20 perfumes !

  • KEITH MOON10/07/2004

Purchased a bottle of Tabac cologne thinking it would be the same as the aftershave but longer lasting, pleasantly surprised by the subtle difference. If you like the original you will like this. Maurer+Wirtz have a winner, and I thought the Germans were only happy in a trench.

  • KEITH MOON09/11/2004

rich, exotic, warm this may be older than me (It Is) but who cares.Great bottle too, very tactile. Very inexpensive. Top marks.

  • STEVE 09/05/2004

If you like 4711, you'll like this one. It goes on fresh like 4711 (citrusy), but then goes down to a warm, spicey, vanilla, powdery kind of smell. It's not overpowering. Infact, it maybe too light at times. Not recommended for night living, club-ing and such. More of a daytime cologne. Good for cooler weather. One of my top three...which are: #1..Pheromone (for men) #2..Monsieur Musk, #3..Tabac. I don't like fresh, bright and marine type sents so Tabac is as fresh as I go. Great for those who like a fresh smell with an earthy weight to it. Definitely not for marine type fragrance lovers.

  • TONI FINISH01/12/2004

Very difficult scent. It is obvious that this is not for everyone...Sharp, aggressive smell, which paints your world in colours of black and white: You will be loved or hated by this scent.

  • MICHAEL PICKEL07/10/2003

I've used Tabac (eau de cologne) for over thirty years (they used to seel it at Neiman Marcus) and on trips to Europe, I used to be able to pick up other Tabac products (after shave balm, saving soap, etc.), but that is getting harder, since most places have now given over "shelf space" to American products. Even these online fragrance merchants seem to only carry the cologne or after shave lotion. Great product line, but poor marketing and availability. If anyone has a suggestion of a good source, please email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

  • KEITH12/04/2002

Tabac has been my favorite cologne for 16 years, now. To me, Tabac has a definite masculine scent (at least on my skin), and the scent lasts through the day. I also like the retro packaging, as well as the extensiveness of the Tabac line -- especially the shaving soap that comes with it's own covered bowl.

  • ROSANNA07/14/2002

I would have to agree with Theresa, on women this fragrance has a floral aldehydic quality - on me it reminds me of L'Interdit by Givenchy (which is in the same category as Chanel no.5) I think that Tabac should be considered a unisex fragrance.

  • THERESA06/18/2002

Tabac smells like like a heavy Chanel No 5 with a bit more spice. It's wonderful. I am a lady and I wear it mostly around the house. But I think a daring sporty woman could wear it especially in the winter.

  • PHYLLIS11/06/2001

I normally wear women's fragrances, but I think I would like to try this because the name "Tabac" intrigues me. Can someone post a description of Tabac's scent? Top notes, then middle - etc. Thanks!

  • JOHN MCQUIRK06/23/2001

I have used Tabac products for over 40 years, since 1960, and Tabac Original (and Tabac Stick Deoderant and Tabac Spray Deoderant, since 1960). I also use Tabak for gift giving. Tabac's products, perfume, quality and packaging are the best and I highly reccommend them to everybody. Even my lady friends use my Tabac!!
