Usually love to get a set if I can, which I did for Santana. But the lotion doesn't smell quite right to me. It's okay, but almost smells borderline rancid. You know, like the oil in it is beginning to change for the worse (which oils will do with time), and that alters the whole scent. Did anyone else have that experience with the lotion? Maybe I got an old one. Tried the shower gel too and it was just okay in my opinion. Smelled different than the parfum. Also, do not like the containers that the lotion and shower gel come in. Very tippy due to a small diameter at the bottom of the bottles. Plus, their lids are not well designed. Difficult to pry open without breaking the connection joint. Strange packaging on these body products, but love the edp bottle. No problems with that.

I happened upon Carlos in a local store, and tried it. And subsequently bought it! I do love it! It is indeed a blend of J. Lo's Miami Glow and Mont Blanc's Presence to my nose. It is a wonderful scent that has the pineapple and citrus notes of Presence, along with the beachy coconut essences of Miami Glow. Carlos lasts a long time on me, and doesn't change with time. It is a gourmand type of scent, but with the cassis and other essences, it has a freshness to it that keeps it from being too foody. I am glad I tried Carlos, and it even has a nice bottle that is easy to hold and spray, which I always appreciate. I can see where this scent would be difficult for some wearers, and Presence is not an easy scent to carry off. If I had to choose, I would say Carlos smells a bit more like Presence than Miami Glow, but the coconut water definitely moves it into Miami territory.

Does anyone know if this is similar to J. Lo's Miami Glow? I love that fragrance, and thought Carlos might be in that vein, especially with the coconut water ingredient. Anyone able to help me? Would appreciate your comments. Thanks!

  • GROOVY GRACIE11/10/2007

It's kinda strong and foul at first. The dry down is nice, it smells like Jovan Musk then. It doesn't last very long.

  • EVETT10/19/2007

I love this perfume, the lotion and shower gel are marvelous, Why is it no longer sold in stores........WHY Why, The natural content works well with my body chemistry and does not break me out.

  • GREEKGIRL08/06/2007

Coconut eh, well ill have to try this one for sure, love coconut.

Hi Judi - I've never smelled the men's version so I can't compare the two, but I think the women's version has a strong masculine quality about it (not a bad thing for me), so I can imagine that the men's version might be overkill! The women's is really heavy, spicy, and could easily be overwhelming if you applied too much. As I said in my previous post, I like it, but I decided that I prefer to smell it on others rather than wear it myself. I ended up giving my bottle to a co-worker and I love to smell it on her as she passes by - I just don't want to smell it constantly, if you know what I mean. Definitely for women with strong, edgy personalities. It's hot.

  • PEGGY06/08/2007

I LOVE this perfume. First of all let me tell you not to worry about the sickeningly HONEY sweetness when you first spray it. At first spritz, I almost threw up, honestly! After about 30 minutes, it was absolutely mesmerizing. I could not then and can not now stop smelling my wrist. This scent is perfect... somewhat sweet, somewhat musky, and lightly floral. Beautiful drydown. Try it... give it 1/2 hour. You and your man will go crazy for it!

  • KALINA06/06/2007

this perfume rocks..im puerto rican and tend to lean for the tropical fragrances and this fragrance hit the spot...also also got the lotion and gel in a full size set..great deal.

  • BRAT04/06/2007

this is a warm & creamy exotic skin musk, the florals in it are soft & low key, not a harsh or sharp note is to be found in this perfume.Great for all ages & seasons.

  • JUDI W*03/28/2007

I read the notes for the men's and thought I would love it. Yuk, it was so dry & spicy. No likey. I don't think I tried this one, but if it's anything like the men's, no good for me. I love Carlos though, saw him in concert back in the 70's.

  • JELLOS MUM03/16/2007

This perfume is MMMMucho Bueno. I love this scent. Wondering if there is a lotion and or powder.

  • BARBARA W02/21/2007

This is very potent when first applied, but smells great after an hour or so has passed. Spicy and seductive, very "Latina". Good lasting power, too.

  • MARA02/07/2007

This is a wonderful fragrance, if you like coconut. I, personally, don't like Samsara or Opium, but I really like this. To me, it is a toned-down Escada. A woman riding in the car with me last night really really loved it. It won't be for everyone, but, those who like coconut scents will love it.

  • LB10/25/2006

A woman in my office just started using Carlos Santana and I must say I am totally enthralled by her scent. She is very attractive and her smell makes her irresistible.

  • MARNIEVE06/15/2006

If you like Opium and Samsara you will LOVE this! Intoxicating but not heady it is reminscent of so many sultry Santana hits.

  • ALLISON R.06/02/2006

I tried this on, on a cold spring day and all I could smell was the chocolate note. I don't really like such strong stand outs in a fragrance, but what I did like was it's complexity. I would try it again for that reason. What doesn't appeal to us one day may be a dream the next. Worth a try.

  • REDHEDCHIK04/30/2006

I bought this at Xmas and still love it in the spring. It's fresh and unusual--my boss asked what it was and said it smelled "expensive"! Not too heavy or floral...just right.

  • KRISTIN M.04/07/2006

This is good stuff....delish, comforting scent. I don't get any of what the poster before me described not minty or harsh at all! All I detect is coconut, fruit & chocolate. YUM!

  • SMELLIE KAT02/18/2006

Love this for 1-2 hours after putting it on. Love it. At first, it's somewhat minty (I love a hint of mint), but it also has depth and earthiness. Thought it was a slam-dunk. After about the two hour mark, however, it goes a little bitter on me and I do not like the final dry down; too "green" and kind of harsh. It loses it's sweetness - the very thing that balances all the other elements. This fragrance ended up being much less interesting than the promise of the first spritz. Truly disappointed.

  • PERFUMELOVER02/07/2006

Very heavy and foody, smells good in the bottle, but I wouldn't wear it on my body. It's too much for me.

  • CK02/04/2006

Wow! As usual, on one of my ventures through the mall, stopped to see what's new at the fragrance counter. This was in the aisle, tested it and walked away to another counter to try other scents. Well you know which one won! I had three scents on my arm (not recommended because of olfactory overload) but this one scent kept standing out. It was unbelieveably beautiful! Believe me I have a lot of fragrances and this one took me to a whole new level! Very naughty in its own way. This could be the next attraction fragrance. I know skin typed vary but wow! This one kept calling me to sniff my arm then when I tried not to notice it, it hit me again with an unbelieveable aura! For those who want to hook a mate this is it!

  • JULIE01/27/2006

i bought the lotion. i've found that spicy or oriental fragrances sometimes are "deeper" in lotion form (i also prefer shalimar as a lotion or creme). carlos santana is\ sweet, woody, cocoa, actually satisfies my sweet tooh - yet not vloying. it's a nice substitute for Maja, which has been reformulated to a much "greener" scent.

  • STEPHANIE12/27/2005

I just got the Carlos Santana Perfume gift set for Christmas, and I love it! It has sweet spicy feel to it, my husband says it's seductive! You've gotta get this fragrance ladies, it's awesome!

  • DAWN12/16/2005

This made me crave a pina colada when I first sprayed it on....but after the fruits and coconut scent dispersed, it left behind a nice, warm musk! I think this would be a better scent for darker skin and/or haired women because I sell fragrance at a dept store and can typically tell which customers will work well with which fragrances. This is a casual, all around nice perfume!

  • REBECCA12/14/2005

This is definately a great, hot fragrance, sweet and spicy with lots of different great tones. Leaves you wanting to smell it more and more!! Gotta have it--especially in the Winter months!!!
