This is has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. A perfume that adds that touch of class..

  • ORVILLE 12/08/2012

    Excellent product!!

  • TINA 12/13/2010

There's nothing like this fragrance. I named our first child Chloe from this perfume. It's just a beautiful blend. I am 45 now and first started using it in my early 20s. The new Chloe fragrances do not match

The house of Chloé was founded in 1952 by Jacques Lenoir and Gaby Aghion; they created romantic images of femininity using soft colours and diaphanous materials taking their name from Ravel´s 'Daphnis et Chloé'. 'Chloé', created in 1975 when Karl Lagerfeld was their in-house designer, was an enormous success. A single, stylised flower, in the form of a satin-like glass lily, sitting in a simple vase captured the heart of many women who saw a new type of femininity in the bottle designed by Joseph Messina; not one that was trying to be a woman in a man´s world, but one who celebrated being a woman - a new type of romantic, one that was resolutely modern. It took Ernest Beaux´s 'Gardenia' (Chanel) and Germaine Cellier´s 'Fracas' (Robert Piguet) as its inspiration; its creator, Bethy Busse took an enormous quantity of tuberose and married it with jasmine and ylang ylang. On their own they would have been sticky, cloying and far too intense for most people´s taste, so Busse added a large fresh facet in the form of a green accord which was lighter and more airy than galbanum - it was to become the structure of 'Giorgio Beverly Hills' a decade later - combined with the fresh floral note of hyacinth which was further freshened with narcissus and bergamot, and made less sweet with the addition of oakmoss. The effect on the tuberose is interesting as it exudes a distinct coconut note whose fruity element is further enhanced by the warm velvety note of peach. 'Chloé' is a scent which influenced the two biggest successes of the 1980s (Giorgio, by Giorgio Beverly Hills, 1981 and Poison by Christian Dior, 1985), which became even sweeter, denser and more tuberose-d than the, very sadly, now altered 1975 version of classic 'Chloé'.

Having loved Narcisse for a long time - it was the first perfume I ever owned - I got Chloe for Christmas. At first I thought it was too overpowering and a little dated. But my opinion has totally changed - it's classic, romantic, heady and very powerful. It's almost masculine - woody and spicy, and completely envelopes you - heavy in a good way. I particularly love in the Winter when I'm wrapped up - it's got really warm notes that keep you toasty! It lasts for AGES, which other perfumes do not, and once put on for the evening I always feel completely wrapped up in it. Like Narcisse, too much can give you a bit of headache though! But if you love woody-floral, warm, powerful scents, then you will like this.

  • CHRISTINA10/15/2009

I once got a good advice; try to find out who the creator/creators are behind the perfume you like. They all have a style (and nose) of their own. With a little practice you may then recognise their "signature" - just like the unique brushstrokes of a Van Gogh painting or the partcular style of a fashion designer. If you for example like "Envy" by Gucci, created by perfumer Maurice Roucel, then perhaps you will also appreciate DKNY "Be Delicious" - also by Maurice Roucel. These true artists often work somewhat hidden behind fashion designers and cosmetic labels. The leading perfumers of today are well worth knowing - and thanks to Internet and perfume web sites, information is available. If you are a true Perfume Aficionado, you can also learn more about contemporary perfume bottle designers! Fabien Baron, Thierry de Baschmakoff, Pierre Dinand, Serge Mansau, Joël Desgrippes..perhaps one of their creations is standing on a shelf in your bathroom?

  • CHRISTINA07/23/2009

Chloé is a perfume dominated by the scent of Tuberose. But there are others, too. Perhaps one of these can give You a slight impression of the classic fragrance Chloé. These fragrances are all dominated - or consisting only of - the lovely flower Tuberose. Chloé was once among them! Annick Goutal La Tubéreuse, Annick Goutal Passion, Jo Malone Tuberose Cologne, Caron Tubéreuse, Serge Luten Tubéreuse Criminelle, Creed Tubereuse Indiana, L´Artisan Tubéreuse, L´Artisan La Chasse aux Papillons, Robert Piguet Fracas, Chanel Gardenia, Guerlain Jardins de Bagatelle, Parfums de Nicolaï Number One, Estée Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia.. Good luck!

  • DUANE SANDERS06/06/2009

There is not another fragrance on the market that even comes close to the wonderfully beautyful scent of Chloe. I have purchased this fragrance for my wife for over 30 years. My wife is now 82 and stills feels spoiled when I am able to come up with the "Original" Chloe. When I can find the dusitng powder, I have purchased as many as 24 boxes at one time so she would have it when everyone was out of stock. It is truly a shame that the manufactures of the Chloe fragrance, dusting powder, and all the other products are not producing the items like they once did. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment. Duane Sanders, Texas

  • TINA05/11/2009

In support of all who are asking for Chloe that has been around since the 1980s or before. I would like to have the perfume and Powder. It has a soft feminine touch that is exquisitely made for women. Please do not take it off the market. I can find the Perfume at Sears but I cannot find the powder. Can anyone please help me locate a store that has it?

  • SUE04/29/2009

I have been using Chloe perfume & lotion for years, and can't imagine not getting it, until the past year. Please don't discontinue this, I don't know what will even compare

  • AYE PETTWAY02/08/2009

I recieved my first bottle of Chloe for my 16th Borthday, It has been my fragrance of choice ever since! I am 40 now. Chloe can not be replaced. It is a classic fragrance!!!!!!

  • MELISSA01/02/2009

Please don't discontinue this beautiful fragrance. I always get comments on how nice I smell. I've worn it for years. I smelled the "new" Chloe in Sak's this Christmas. P.U. It gave me a headache really bad. What are they thinking? I'd love to have the bath gel, dusting powder, body cream back. Not to mention the deodorants. They were wonderful. Very sad. What can we do to save this timeless, classic fragrance?

  • CHRISTINA12/02/2008

When Karl Lagerfeld took over the reins of Chanel in the seventies, Lagerfeld naturally caused quite an upheaval. To his credit he still does. The path to success, however, was rocky. In 1975 when he launched the first perfume under his name, poor Chloé had more than her fair share of critics. The perfume was dismissed as being too heavy, too cloying, too sweet and too old-fashioned. Even the design of the bottle, with its soft curves and lily-shaped stopper, was criticised. Soon, however, its utter originality and unequivocal ambience began to reveal itself. Lagerfeld´s formulation is aimed, as one said, directly at the heart. Chloé is a perfume of love - intimate, uninhibited, and passionate. If it is "heavy", it´s simply because it is absolutely committed to the exploitation of one dominant flower - the pervasively lovely tuberose. Tuberose is an unmistakable scent. It clings, it envelops, it persist and permeates, but it does all this with a rare beauty. Its scent is rich and creamy, almost euphoric, and when handled by a perfumer of great skill can be the ideal catalyst, the point of departure. After the initial shock of the tuberose´s volatility, other flowers begin to slowly surface in its wake -french rose de mai, night scented jasmine, wild honeysuckle and the haunting aureole of orange blossom (also called "Neroli"). This exquisite blend is then softened and deepened against a wooded backdrop of velvety soft oakmoss, the highest quality of expensive sandalwood mysore with a touch of patchouli, musk and amber. The total effect is nothing short of hypnotic. Chloé is never claustrophobic, but exhilirating and vivacious. To my mind it is a Botticelli-curved woman, soft and pliant, graceful and bending. It is all surrender.. And Ladies; The Tuberose flower is not a kind of rose. It is a member of the lily family, and doesn´t smell remotely like a rose. Tuberose has an extraordinarily potent smell and is well known for its pervasiveness. Yet in the hands of a master perfumer it is one of the most exquisite smells in all perfume. The scent of tuberose is so pervasive and suggestive that, in the Italian Renaissance, young girls were forbidden to walk in the gardens where it grew lest they be set upon by passionate males gone delirious with the lusty scent ! So, you should by it now. Although Chloé is considered a classic, its days are numbered.

  • RUTH WALKER11/22/2008

Chole is the only perfume that I wear and whenever I can get the powder. lotion, gel and soap I buy it and I have been trying to buy these items for a long time. Chole is the only fragrance that compilments my natural body odor and I get so many compliments when I wear it. Thanks for such a great producf. Dr. Ruth Walker

  • CHRISTINA10/23/2008

Chloé.. so deeply loved and like Cupid himself - aimed directly at the heart -, sadly will no longer be produced. Truly, it brings tears to my eyes. So many memories.. It has been replaced by the "new" Chloé ; a weak, insignificant blend, only has the name in common with her predecessor. The creators of this concoction dedicated all effort on the design of the bottle. The scent itself - a powdery floral - seems like an afterthought. To let go of such a rare, hauntingly, divine and precious scent is nothing short of malignity. By comparison, they might as well have slashed the Mona Lisa painting and replaced it with some of Andy Warhol´s tomato soup cans. So Ladies - buy at least an extra bottle the next time. It might be the last one.. And spray lightly on your wrist before bedtime. Jasmine and Tuberoses will enhance those dreams from a soon bygone era...

  • MARILYN07/28/2008

I love this scent. It is timeless and not overwhelming. Received many compliments, including my mother who is pretty much allergic to most perfumes.

  • JO ANNE05/07/2008

I have tried many top designer fragances but always return to the originial Chloe. Men and women constantly compliment thisfragrance. I love it!!! I wish it would be reissued with a full line of products.

  • SOMDATTA05/21/2007

There is a note in chloe which i don't like - could it be jasmine ? Usually i love rich long lasting fragrances, may it be floral or oriental, or spicy, and my all time favourite is Chloe Narcisse, but strangely enough, i didn't like Chloe all that much. However, the dry down is much better. The slightly nauseating jasmine (or is it tuberose ? I really don't know ..) note mellows after an hour or so, and the lingering fragrance is very romantic, and quite different from the initial blast. One word of caution to those who buy perfumes on the net without trying them first - you may want to check this first. There is a chance that you might not like this all this much even if you like warm rich sexy florals.

  • REBECCA 02/19/2007

The compliments I receive when I wear Chloe are from men - who already know the scent. Usually, it is: "there is no other cologne like it"

  • JOANNE02/11/2007

This is my signature fragrance! I've worn it for over 30 years...talk about dating yourself. However, a day does not pass that a man doesn't stop and compliment me on my fragrance. I've had men stop me in stores so they could purchase the same for their wives.

  • SEXY KITTEN10/30/2006

I first experienced chloe when I was 15 and at the time it was my cousin's signature fragrance...she was in her late twenties, dark hair, dark eyes and always took pride in her appearance even with two young children underfoot...she smelt absolutely divine wearing this scent...even though she is now in her forties and has moved on from chloe to other scents, I associate this wonderful soft yet assertive fragrance with her and her lovely personality...what a great signature fragrance since not many wear it...sensual, fresh, gutsy and vulnerable all at the same time...

  • CK07/19/2006

This is going to give my age....but I first came across this scent at work about 30...something years ago..um..um. The receptionist in the office I worked was a bit eccentric. She made all her clothes but they were designer! She had this scent on one day and never stopped wearing it! It was so strong then, I don't know what today version smell like. But it was a rich fragrance! Staying power was unbelieveable at that time the whole reception area would wreak of her fragrance. I am a perfume addict and I still haven't gotten the nerve to get this one after many years!

  • VALERIE12/18/2005

I wore this all through high school and love it so well, that I named my daughter after it 11 years ago!

  • KATHY11/28/2005

Narcisse in my opinion is much prettier that this. The smelled very heavy to me and not too appealling.

  • PERFUMECHIQUITA-SABS11/06/2005

Smelled this on a buddy, it's her favorite-This is more of a "comforting" fragrance than a sexy one to me- something you wear when you want to feel nice, soft and feminine--warm, pleasant and soft and understanded, almost soapy. nice for when you want to smell nice and elegant but don't want a fragrance that whispers vs screams.

  • ALLISON R.10/02/2005

A co-worker wears this because it was one her Mom liked. I think she wears it to feel closer to her Mom, and that is the magic that perfumes provide. I thought it smelled outstanding on her. Very warm, and floral. Wear it if you like it! It's better than nothing.

  • MIMI08/20/2005

smelled it on a lady and really dont care for the aftertones in it. If you like chloe, youll love Navy

  • ANNA06/19/2005

I find that I enjoy this scent very much IF I wear it in cold weather. In warm to hot weather it is overpoweringly sweet on me. I do wish that Lagerfeld would bring back the Chloe bath line... the shower gel, for instance, used to be a lot easier to find. (Incidentally, I saw a big display of Chloe dusting powder at a drugstore in Connecticut about two years ago... it never occurred to me to stock up.)

  • REBECCA05/12/2005

charlie is made my revlon, not avon. Simple mistake though, it is an older perfume. actually avon has some better ones now than it used to. I can't remember exactly what this smells like, but it is ok to me. Not the worst made and probably smells really good on some women.

  • KATHLEEN 201/07/2005

When I want to smell feminine and gorgeous I wear this. A little goes a long way. Love to use the shower gel, lotion and perfume together. One of the classics, which I never tire of. Keep going back to it. I wore it back in the 70's during a love affair with a dear friend. When I want to go back to the memory of that time, I will wear it and smile. Needless to say I wear it often.

  • MARTA ESTEVA12/07/2004

For me and my mother chloedusting powder is the best, but I can not find it Why?. I want to know where it is please...

  • LLL07/30/2004

At first I didn't like this perfume too much. I thought it was too flowery, too "high white floral" for my taste. But once I purchased a bottle of it, and wore it a few times, boy did my feelings change. Now I really love it: it's elegant, refined, lingering, rather haunting, very feminine. Nice, nice, nice.

  • MAEVE06/16/2004

I bought a sample and I don't think I'll use that up. It does remind me of something my mother's friends would wear. Does it make sense to call it too perfumey? That's how I felt about it. I guess I like things that are lighter and more subtle. I feel like with a little bit on, you could smell me a mile away!

  • L.04/24/2004

yes, some time ago, chloe changed, i noticed a big difference and suddenly it was withdrawn from the market. i was desperate as i wore it for more than 20 years. eventually i changed to tocade and did not go back to chloe although it reappeared on the market with its original lovely smell and colour. i now find tocade much nicer, much softer and if you wear tocade in summer it changes to a fantastic smell in hot weather when one tends to sweat a little. try it out !

  • KELLEY03/11/2004

I wore this scent 25 years ago in university and it was one of the most popular scents ever then ... now it's harder to get, I bought some the other day and it brought back memories. A beautiful, lily-like spicy scent ... smells gorgeous on some women and only so-so on others.

  • JILL01/30/2004

I've used this for 20+ years. Got my mom to use it too. Now that she is gone I cherish her container because I can readily remember how Momma smelled just by a smell of Chloe. I've trie to buy for 2 years now. Where is this wonderful product???

  • BARBARA12/21/2003

Have had a container for years, using only for very special occasions. Is nearly gone. Can anyone tell me which stores carry Lagerfeld in the area east of Toronto or if this product even still exsists. Really want to buy it. Thanks

  • CYNTHIA12/16/2003

I am always asked what I am wearing, by both men & women, and told repeatedly that it (I) smell good. (I think it depends on ones body chemistry, which scent works). I am trying to find an alternative, which MAY be Burberrys (original). Hard to change though =) To answer an earlier question, I HAVE noticed a slight change, but my opinion is that it's a copycat formula and not the "real" one, possibly. Let me know if you EVER find the powder. I haven't seen it in ages!

  • ANN12/15/2003

Please advise if they have discontinued this product. If so they have made a mistake. Very lovely scent and stays on forever....

  • ROSEMARY10/04/2003

After wearing Chloe for years I detect a slight change in the scent! Also the tube lotion is a very pale peach color rather than the "peachy peach" it used to be. Has any of you long time Chloe users noticed this change? I love Chloe and wear only Chloe but wonder if it is my nose or the product! I have not been able to find the heavy body cream for the past couple of years! The gift with purchase sometimes has the dusting powder and shower gel in them! I have never seen the dusting powder alone for sale! -- If in fact they are useing a different (or cheaper) formula, I wish they wouldn't!!

  • NICOLE09/22/2003

I love it. Just bought a bottle. For me the best smell of the 70's. Reminds me Charlie from Revlon but Chloe is more sweet, elegant.

  • JESSICA07/18/2003

The fragrance of Chloe is a bit dated - it reminds me very much of the elderly women at church on Sundays. It is also similar to the scent of older brands of face powder. It's a sweet floral, but I doubt that many younger girls would wear it.

  • MURKI06/09/2003

I think this is very floral and light, but that's me..I used to sneak into mom's peach jar of creme.

  • SIDNEY03/12/2003

I classify this to be a mysterious oriental fragrance. I like, but not it's not my favorite it. I wear it occasionaly in the evenings and have received compliments from men. A very sexy fragrance with attitude.

  • BRITTNEE02/26/2003

This one has nothing special to it. Starts to smell soapy. I don't like it personally, but if you do, I'd suggest buying Charlie original by Revlon. It's much cheaper and smells very similar. I do admit that this fragrance has a classy smell to it, but that's just because it's from the older generation.

  • MARYMAGS02/04/2003

gives me a headache. Never got complimented on this either, and I am a shameless compliment whore.

  • VALERIE01/27/2003

Chloe was a gift from college roommates in 1977. I have worn it and loved it since then. When Narcisse became available I tried it and love it just as much. Both are strong but in small amounts will stay with you all day. My 14 year old daughter loves her "mommy" smell.

  • LORRAINE01/17/2003

I love the eau de toilette and the body lotion and would like to know if you make a soap

  • DAGNY01/13/2003

I have worn Chloe almost exclusively since it became available. Men love it and have actually asked what I was wearing. Wear Chloe and men notice you.

  • MIIST12/27/2002

My boyfriend in high school bought this one for me after smelling it in the store. It always seemed very feminine to me, like a woman in a dress with long, floaty chiffon panels. It is very sweet, so don't get carried away. There is a reason why they still make this frangrance, because it's beautiful and mysterious without any musky notes. I don't wear it anymore myself but I always smile when I smell it on someone else.

  • DAWN10/09/2002

In 1983 this lady came in to where I was working and she smelled so wonderful. I asked what she was wearing and she said, "Chloe." I've been hooked ever since! It is a fragrance I come back to again and again. The perfume market is so fickle anymore that you can buy a fragrance today, like it, and the next day it's been discontinued. Chloe is a classic and it's been around since 1975. I'm now at a point in life where I don't like to keep switching fragrances and if I like one I want it to be available. Chloe is soft, floral, and sexy - a very romantic type of fragrance. Try it - you'll be hooked, too!

  • MARIE10/04/2002

WAY Too SWEET. Not horrible or anything, but I'm not sure why anyone would really want to wear this. I guess it has some sort of old-fashioned appeal, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. Not my kind of perfume.

  • ALLISON08/28/2002

Not too terrible, except it's too sweet and it smells gross if you put too much on. I tried it at Walmart, I like the price, but I didn't really like the perfume. It smells sort of cheap. If you want good, sweet perfume-Try Anna Sui.

  • SALMA08/20/2002

I receive compliments every time I wear Chloe. I always wear it against my skin. I only spray a tiny bit and it lasts all day and night. I've been told I smelled "beautiful", "scumptious" and "so good" when I wear it. :) It's been my only perfume since I was 15. After 10 years, I don't think I'll ever give it up. It's classic, sexy, sensual, and intoxicating.

  • BETHANY07/25/2002

Very sweet, romantic, somehow innocent and slightly sensual at the same time. Made me think of young ladies in old-fashioned hats and pretty dresses sipping iced tea on a swing on their porch. Kind of hard to explain-this one seems like it comes from another time, another place.

  • ANIKA06/12/2002

A roommate in college had Chloe on her bureau and she let me try it. I admired her style so much I asked for a bottle for Christmas and it became my first "real" perfume. Years later I abandoned wearing it, thinking that it wasn't really me. Just recently I've come back to it again and have gotten so many compliments I find I am once again hooked! It makes me feel very feminine and romantic. I do agree with others that it is a bit strong, but I find I can wear it as an evening scent, for style use, and with jeans and a t-shirt. It hangs very close to my skin and gives me a sensuous aura; so far no one has said it is too overpowering. I only hear how wonderful I smell. I'm glad I got sentimental and tried it again!

  • A.06/03/2002

One of my mother's favorites, this is, as many have remarked, a strong scent. Sweet, very floral, and despite the association with older women in the family, somehow youthful. Reminds me of being young and feeling hopeful about the future...which means it doesn't quite fit with who I've become.

  • GINA05/30/2002

A lovely lovely fragrance, but don't overdo it! Its really quite strong.

  • LISA05/21/2002

After all the great comments about the dusting powder, I wanna try it, too!! =)

  • SUZANNA05/03/2002

Has anyone found chloe dusting powder?

  • LISA05/02/2002

It's one of the most gentle, sexy, sophisticated, fine fragrances on the market today. I bought my first bottle recently and it's become #1. I love it!

  • JO ANNE CHRISTMAN05/01/2002

help! where can i locate the dusting powder?? [email protected]

  • MARY05/01/2002

Does Lagerfeld make the dusting powder any more? I have been looking all over the Mid West trying to locate some. Have friends all over the US looking but still can not find. HELP!!!!!

  • ELSA03/25/2002

Has anyone located a vendor where you can purchase?

  • ASCHATAN03/08/2002

Just wonderful, as soon as I smelled the bottle I knew I had to have this! Not exactly a light fragrance, but charming and somehow relaxing.

  • JO ANNE CHRISTMAN02/26/2002

i am trying to locate chloe dusting powder...help!!!

  • DALE COATES02/22/2002

I would also like to know where the dusting powder is and the heavy moisturizing cream. I missed them both. I can't find them anywhere.

  • BRIDGETTE01/29/2002

I first smelled Chloe when I was about 13. I visited my older sister for a weekend and it was what she would where. From then on every time I visited her I would where it. I'm now 36 and it is and will always be a Favorite. It has a romantic, I can do or be anything type of aroma...Try it and you won't be dissapointed.

  • DONNA01/25/2002

I love Chloe, it has such a nice, clean scent and not overpowering like some perfumes. I find it expensive but worth it.

Where is the Chloe Dusting Powder? I would really like to know where to purchase it now...

  • AUDREY01/03/2002

I too am in search of Chloe Dusting Powder! Where can I get it?

Although I didn't know it, my mother wore Chloe for years. When my children were old enough to go out and buy me a gift on their own they bought me my first bottle of Chloe because it smelled like Grandma. They have been buying me this same fragrance for years now. It is one of my favorites.

I started wearing Chloe at a very young age, in junior high school. That is one of the few colognes my mother would purchase or wear. I am well out of junior high school now, but Chloe is still with me and had become my signature scent. One problem I do have is finding the lotion, and when I find it the price is outrageous. Is the lotion offered on this site as well?

Hi Deb! I think the fragrance you're looking for is Chloe "Narcisse", which happens to be a favorite of mine also! You can find it on this site under the "Chloe" category, not under "Karl Lagerfeld". (Or just type in "Narcisse") It has become harder to find in depatment stores lately, so probably the internet is your best bet.

Where can I find Chloe Narsese? I'm sure I spelled it wrong...sorry!!

I've been wearing Chloe since the days of "disco". I was powdering my nose and a young woman standing next to me took out a spray bottle and misted it. The scent was magnificent. I told her so. She offered it to me to try. I did. I've been wearing it exclusively since then. I hope Karl never takes it off the market. It's a little difficult to get sometimes.

Chloe is a classic smell. It made me want to wear it again and again. The only problem was that when it is sprayed it doesn't spray out it dribbles.

My mother wore chloe since I was born, then when I got older I started wearing it. i think it is the most comforting fragrance in the world. clean, classic.

Very flowery, very sweet, though not offensively so; wonderful if that's what you're into.

  • MAGGIE09/04/2001

    An all-time favorite!

  • SUSAN08/28/2001

This was the very first present my husband (then boyfriend) bought me for Christmas. He said someone else in the store was purchasing it and he thought it smelled really nice. I thought it was kind of sweet, but wore it anyway for him.
