Go for it. Very strong perfume. Long lasting. Men can wear it too

  • AGGI03/05/2014

I fell in love with that perfume at first sniff 6 years ago and have worn it ever since. It's very strong and unique.

  • M.01/24/2012

This is the BEST website. Fantastic selection. Great prices. Very fast efficient service. Why buy from anyone else??!!

  • JUDI W*06/30/2011

I'm probably on my 8-9th bottle of this fragrance. If it smells "hippy" then it's a chic hippy. It definitely isn't a 60's scent/hippy/head shop smell to me. I get MORE compliments on this scent, then any other, so on me, it's working! :-)

  • BARBARA W10/01/2010

Hi Eric - sorry for the late response to your question! Not sure if you'll ever read this, but yes, I definitely think that Black Orchid can be worn by a man! My younger brother wears it occasionally, and it smells great on him. It's unisex, in my opinion, but only for men who enjoy "big" scents.

  • LISA11/19/2009

If you like long lasting perfumes, this one fits the bill. It lasted all one day & into the next with a very distinct scent. I got the EDP. I cannot like it however, because it smells like one of those hippie/bead/water pipe stores you sometimes find in a mall. Maybe it's the incense or patchouli? I've certaintly liked patchouli in other perfumes & it's not overpowering here, but the combination in this scent is just too similar to those stores. My husband said it too right at first waft before I told him what I thought. I was hoping for licorice & vanilla but got neither. If you love the smell in hippie/bead/water pipe stores (with all the statues of hindu deities & buddhas) you'll probably love this too. I'm giving mine to my 'gypsy' sister.

I cannot like it however, because it smells like one of those hippie/bead/water pipe stores you sometimes find in a mall. Maybe it's the incense or patchouli? I've certainly liked patchouli in other perfumes & it's not overpowering here, but the combination in this scent is just too similar to those stores. My husband said it too right at first waft before I told him what I thought. It's strange because I love licorice but can't smell it distinctly in this one, & definitely could not distinguish the vanilla. Both of which I had been hoping for. If you love the smell in hippie/bead/water pipe stores (with all the statues of hindu deities & buddhas) you'll probably love this too. I'm giving mine to my hippie, pro marijuana legalization sister in Texas.

  • JOAN06/10/2009

Barbara u r right!!!I m wearing the Black Orchid and one friend of mine told me that I m wearing the Jungle of Kenzo! That was because I had the Bottle in the fridge(too hot in Greece)-and the perfume return to junglelistic exotic,smell...;)

  • TAMAR03/19/2009

It smells just like Old Spice for men. Does it ever die down? Not my cup of tea.

  • DIANA01/06/2009

I would like to buy kenzo jungle l`elephant, but I`m not sure if I`d like it. I`m very into vanilla scents, I love to smell `delicious`. I like Hypnotic Poison, L de Lolita Lempicka... stuff that makes me delicious. I hate Lolita Lempicka (the original)... so would kenzo jungle fit me?

  • TERRY0400-4012/18/2008

I bought this because of info i found on reveiws and i really like it and so does my wife. It is an enduring scent, i wore it for the first time yesterday and had complements and enquiries from a cashier on the same day. I can understand that some users do not appreciate this scent, and i realise that one will not get to appreciate this scent by self sniffing the wrist ect, because this creation has been designed to diffuse and display its wonderful nature with its beautiful bursts of random pleasure.

  • SUE C11/10/2008

You can rely on Kenzo fragrances to deliver something unique and top quality. They are all classics, with imagination, complex formulas and are just wonderful to wear. L'elephant is quite a traffic stopping sexy fragrance. I haven't been game to get it for myself as I prefer lighter florals but if you have confidence, go for it. I also admit I love Givenchy's PI. It has a fantastic delicious coconut note. I'll get some if I see a small bottle of it somewhere -maybe a mini. Many women wear men's fragrances, the only difference is the marketing and packaging. Quite a few women's fragrances contain masculine notes like leather and tobacco e.g. Trussardi, many of the Dior fragrances etc. Feel free to enjoy what you like.

  • SAMIA10/30/2008

The beauty in kenzo jungle is how it makes you feel...very sexy and different ..not your everyday scent...gotta try it to believe it ..been hooked fro years

  • BELLA09/25/2008

Thank you, ladies, for your compelling reviews of Jungle. I bought a bottle unsniffed and I'm absolutely in love with it! So unique, potent, spicy, and just plain delicious. My boyfriend LOVES it. :)

  • ~NEOPHYTE~09/02/2008

This stuff is incredible! Never smelled anything like it...compliments come pouring in, too. Lasts ALL day, too. If you want a spicy, delicious treat, but this. Love it!!

  • ERIC08/07/2008

Wondering about Black Orchid and if you think this could be worn by a man and if you think this could be a unisex fragrance?

  • ERIC08/07/2008

Barbara, I always read your posts and was wondering if Black Orchid in your opinion can be worn by a man and if you think it could be a unisex fragrance? Just curious?

  • BARBARA W07/24/2008

Cinnabar is what I think of as "Opium Lite". It's a beautiful fragrance in its own right, but so similar to Opium (and released only one year later) that comparisons are inevitable. I agree with Fragrance Junkie's description. If you like Opium but find it too much, Cinnabar would be one to try. It's more comfy and cozy than sexy. It was named Cinnabar after the red, crystal-like mineral mined in China, not the spice cinnamon. It's quite a nice fragrance and can be found on American websites at very good prices. Good luck!

  • PATRICIA04/20/2008

Kenzo's Jungle fragancy is the same than cuban's Ochun fragance. I like it very much, but who was the first ??? or who took it from???

  • BARBARA W04/18/2008

Hi there! Yes, I do wear some men's fragrances (a recent purchase was Terre d'Hermes, which they market for guys, but I think it could be unisex). I don't care for perfumes that are too floral or "girly" smelling, and I find that men's fragrances have that edge that I like. My philosophy is - wear what you like. Have fun!

  • ERIC03/23/2008

If you read this at your suggestion I am going to try this since Jungle for Men wasn't hitting it for me. I was looking for something more exotic and spicier from something with that name. Since I read that this scent has licorice in it is it an overpowering smell of licorice or anise in L'Elephant? Just wondering. Thanks for your help. Peace to you and for all of your advise throughout many posts I've seen of yours.

  • UNCLE TIM02/19/2008

I continue to wear Jungle L'Elephant but it is reserved for high level business events where I feel pressured to make a strong statement. It always works. I do not know how much how it makes me feel or how much how others react to me when I wear Jungle L'Elephant

  • BELLA02/02/2008

This is one fragrance I actually crave, and I start to panic when I'm running low. I need to always have a bottle of this in my collection!

  • BARBARA W02/02/2008

So great to hear about another woman who loves Pi! I believe perfume is genderless and if you like something, go for it! I've been wearing Terre d'Hermes lately and really enjoying it...*and* the men compliment it, not knowing it's supposed to be for them! ;)

  • JASMINE_TEA01/26/2008

Wow! I am not the only freak to use men's cologne! I fell in love with Pi by Givenchy really badly too. I used to use it and received tons of compliments on it. My really beloved "strong" woodsy scent is L'elephant tho. I guess I am not a typical blonde who uses babydoll perfumes. I love the scent of nature and something that lasts. Pi by Givenchy provided those benefits to me as well. It lasted a long time, had a really defined cedar scent in it but wasn't "just" for men.

  • JASMINE_TEA01/26/2008

You have a good comparison for perfumes. I do agree that Elephant is as strong as Imari by Avon, there is a huge difference though. Imari is a little too old ladyish. It just smells a lot cheaper than L'elephant. In my opinion Imari is too heavy, just heavy and cheap not intryguing and exotic. L'elephant smells like palm trees and really - the jungle!!! Kenzo's fragrances are so unique because they REALLY do smell like awesome places on Earth. I loooove L'elephant!!!

  • FRAGRANCE JUNKIE12/24/2007

Hello Blue Suede! I do not own Cinnabar, but I have sampled it, and can compare it to Elephant which I do own. To the best of my recollection, Cinnabar is a softer scent, and has more floral notes to it than Elephant. It has no cinnamon to my nose, which disappointed me. It reminds me a little bit of Avon's Imari, if you are familiar with that. I would put it in the same category with Opium, a spicy floral, but to me Opium is spicier than Cinnabar. I own a lot of fragrances, and when I smelled Cinnabar, for some reason I was not too impressed with it, as compared to Opium. I felt it was not worth buying at the time, but that was long ago. I will have to seek it out and try it again now that you have mentioned it. I hope this helps you a little.

  • FRAGRANCE JUNKIE12/24/2007

Many thanks to my friend Rosaria from Brazil, who was kind enough to mail me a sample of Kenzo Jungle Elephant! I am in total love with this scent! It is one of my all time favorites of life! So delicious, so intriguing! Jungle Elephant is a unique scent, full of warmth and spice. It is exotic, to say the least! When I first spray it, it comes across with a hint of bitter notes, perhaps the mandarin. To me I smell a slightly bitter orange peel. But then, as it warms to the skin, it develops into the more complex spice notes. I do smell the patchouli and licorice, but neither is overwhelming. I must admit that upon first spray, although I like the scent, it isn't until it melds with my chemistry that I truly love the scent. It does take that little bit of time to develop, but when it does, whoa! Incredible! It's the kind of perfume that you can smell all day and never tire of. You can scent a cotton ball with it and weeks later sniff it and still smell the pure scent. It smells better with time, unlike other scents that turn weird with time, you know? And another nice thing, a little goes a long way! It has great staying power, which makes it a good value. I bought the 3.4 edp, and expect to have it a long time. One negative for me is the large rectangular shape of the bottle. Once again, I have difficulty in spraying it because it is quite large and awkward for my hands to grip properly. I guess it wouldn't have made any sense though for a fragrance called Elephant to be in a slender bottle! Oh well I'll deal with it, because the scent is worth whatever contortions I need to go through to spray it!

  • PERFUME NEWBIE12/16/2007

After spraying this perfume it reminded me of the spirit "Galliano" - you know the one with the licorice scent? It is a very nice perfume, it makes you stand out in a crowd because it is so different. This perfume needs fresh air - in a club it would be too much - I was stuck in between seats with lots of other party goers and it started to overwhelm and suffocate even me. Yet, out in the fresh air, the scent had an earthy difference, an intrigue unlike all the other clean fragrances. This one is like an animal scent and the licorice is prominent. It sat well on my skin and lasted all night, dancing etc so it responds well to body heat, but because it is so ....strong? potent? noticeable? when sitting with a group of people it has no chance to escape. Like all things in the jungle this one needs to breathe.

  • BLUE SWEDE12/11/2007

Hi everyone! A loooooong time ago - way back in 2006 on the "Dolce Vita" board - Barbara W advised me to try Kenzo Jungle (thanks for your reply btw!). Well, I finally got around to it! :-D Jungle is not available in stores here in Sweden so I had to purchase it unsmelled online (I swore I wouldn't do this again after buying Opium online without sniffing first - Opium (the EDT) just didn't agree with me...sorry Barbara!). Anyway, I really like the smell of Jungle, BUT...some note in it irritates my throat, so I can only wear very little unless I want to cough all day (and I don't want to). One of Barbaras other suggestions was Cinnabar - a fragrance that seems to be quite difficult to find these days - even online (being discontinued???). I would love it if any of you ladies could tell me what Cinnabar smells like compared to Jungle. Softer? More floral? Or the opposite perhaps? Based on the name I guess it smells of cinnamon (which I like), although I haven't seen this note mentioned in descriptions of Cinnabar. Thank you very much in advance - I love to visit the boards on Perfume Emporium - wish we had a really decent perfume site in Sweden, too. Well...some day perhaps.../Helen

  • DEE RICH12/09/2007

I purchased this based on the reviews. I'm so glad I did. I'm so hooked. This has become my signature/favorite perfume. It's elegant, classy and just totally different from anything else on the market. This one is oriental/spicy at it's best. I simply can't get enough of it. Thanks for the tip!!

  • ANDREA11/19/2007

thanks to all you PE posters (esp Barb W and Judi W) for turning me on to this perfume! It is simply amazing and people compliment me all day. Lasts forever, too. I'm a happy sniffer!

  • BARBARA W11/04/2007

Something just came to mind - have you tried Pi by Givenchy? It's a really great vanilla, and because it's for men, it has a little kick to it that you might like. That is so funny that you mentioned Vanille Coco - I just tried it yesterday at Sephora. It's one of the better CSP's, I think. Most of them smell too foody for me. I haven't tried the Vanilla Tonka yet, but that frankincense note sounds good - I love the smell of it (and myrrh). Serge Lutens is supposed to have a good vanilla, but you will have to shell out some money for it. Tom Ford also has a new line called Private Blend, and the Amber Absolute and Tobacco Vanille are supposed to be great. Black Orchid can take a while to grown on you. I love all phases of it, but after a few hours it takes on this truly amazing incense/vanilla drydown that is the best I've ever smelled. Funny thing is, I don't notice it until I go outside after being indoors all day. The wind picks up and it just wafts all around me. It smells *exactly* like burning sweet incense. Anyway, good luck finding that perfect vanilla - there are SO many out there, hopefully you'll find one soon. If you want to keep in touch by regular email, mine is [email protected] If not, I'll see ya on PE! Oh...I just picked up another bottle of Elephant, too... ;-)

  • JUDI W*10/31/2007

Yes, I've tried Black Orchid, liked it, kind of...at first. Have to try again. The solid vanilla incense stick I bought, does not come in a spray, I asked. I'm glad you confirmed your layering technique. I make the mistake of putting one , right on top of the other, and that turns it into a mish-mash. Yuk! It makes sense, to put different fragrances, on different parts of your body, instead of together. Did you ever try Vanilla Tonka by Parfums de Nicolai? Suppose to have vanilla, tonka, citrus & frankincense. I haven't sampled it yet, but I think I will. Vanilla just comforts me. I usually don't like a sweet, foody vanilla, but I sampled CSP Vanille Coco, & it kind of hit the spot, for something that sweet. My chemistry & moods change like the wind, so I'm going crazy...Some scents I'm pretty consistent with though...Take care...

  • BARBARA W10/26/2007

Have you ever thought about layering two different frags? I've had some success with that technique. Comme de Garcons' incense series is really nice, and sometimes I add some vanilla for extra sweetness (I don't spray the perfumes on top of one another, but in different spots so they don't compete). I use "Perfect Vanilla" by Creative Scentualization - you can find it at luckyscent. Currently, Black Orchid is the closest to being my HG perfume. I love the earthy, unusual topnotes, the sweet floral midnotes are gorgeous (though I'm NOT a floral lover), and after about four hours it had the most delicious smoky vanilla/sandalwood drydown. It would be absolutely perfect if it had even more incense. Have you tried it yet? I know how frustrating it can be to find "The One". That scent stick you have sounds nice - I would bet they make it in a spray version. Anyway, I'll let you know if I smell anything else that's really exciting (I'll post it here), and please let me know if you do!

  • JUDI W*10/21/2007

It's really weird, I'm on my fourth bottle of this, reluctantly bought it again, because even though I am sort of getting tired of it, EVERYTIME, I wear it, people take notice, and tell me how wonderful I smell. Sometimes, someone will shout out, "who's wearing that scent?" and gush over it. So, sometimes I feel compelled to wear it, because obviously, it goes well with my chemistry. It is somewhat of a comfort scent, but not as much as a vanilla is. I'm still looking for that sexy vanilla scent, that I haven't found yet. I found this scent called Encens Mystic, which is in a solid form, (like a lipstick) it is a vanilla, with an incense kick. It would be perfect, if it was in a spray, because the way it is now, it lays too close to the skin. Don't think anyone else noticed it, and I couldn't even smell it too much. (either did my son, unless his nose was right up against my wrist) Still looking for my HG vanilla. Tiring of Hypnotic Poison, but I go through that with HP all of the time. Let me know if you hear of anything exciting. See ya...

  • BARBARA W10/06/2007

For all you Elephant fans out there - try Black Orchid. I just purchased a bottle at Sephora last night and I'm in love with it. It's very unusual like Elephant, and you may not like it upon first sniff, but give it time. It's one of my new favorites right up there with Elephant and Opium parfum. Lasts forever, too.

  • RAJUL09/13/2007

hi ! you're right...... it would be an "ELEPHANT" in the strong heat that we experience during summer.i have a wardrobe of summer frags that include cologne by mugler,o de lancome, premier jour, eau de rochas........ and similar kinds.o de cartier is a good one too but as of now i have vowed to use up many of my existing perfumes before i buy any more !! come winter (though our winters are sooooo mild that summers in some parts maybe cooler !) i bring out my heavier perfumes like coco, le baiser du dragon, ysatis, paloma picasso, angel etc.......and now elephant ! thanks for your post.

  • GLORY09/06/2007

I totally agree that this is a unisex fragrance as many of the notes appear in men's scents. I think it has the right amount of patchouli in it to make it wearable for a man. It doesn't smell 'girly' at all to me, instead it smells like slightly incensy. It has tons of character and it oozes confidence. I hope you'll continue to wear it, I know I'd love this on a man.

  • RAJUL08/09/2007

hi ! along with chemistry i think it also depends on personal preferences...... i prefer lighter frags for summer and wait for cooler weather to bring out my heavier, sexier fragrances ! i see that elephant rates among your favourites...... come winter i hope i start loving it too ! thanks for your post.

  • BARBARA W08/09/2007

Nice to see that someone else wears this in summer - and you're in the heat, no less! I get lots of compliments from younger men, too, so I agree that this is definitely not "old" smelling. Hope all is well with you!

  • BARBARA W08/09/2007

Wow, you must live in a really hot climate! I live in the northeast US, so while we do get an occasional heat wave, most summer days are relatively cool. I can totally see how Elephant would be like - well, like an elephant! - in a very warm, humid climate. This fragrance actually helps me look forward to winter! ;-) Take care.

  • JUDI W*08/05/2007

Sorry, I didn't read your post until after I posted my last comments. I live in Florida, it's basically 85-95 degrees most of the time, and I wear this fragrance alot. I get the opposite remarks, saying how easy it is on the nose. People find this fragrance pleasant & it doesn't seem to bother them in extreme heat. So, I guess it is more the person's body chemistry wearing it, than the heat alone.

  • JUDI W*08/05/2007

Yesterday, while food shopping, this young guy working in the produce dept., came running over to me, excited with eyes wide open said, "what are you wearing?" He went wild for it, he ran in the back of the store to get a piece of paper & pencil to write down the name. He said he wanted to buy it for his girlfriend. He loved it!! I get SO many compliments on this fragrance, than I have ever gotten from anything else. I'm amazed how often people comment how delicious it smells. Alot of comments from "young" guys, and I'm no youngster. IT IS NOT AN "OLD LADY" SCENT, OBVIOUSLY.

  • JULIETTE07/28/2007

Rich, decadent, delicious scent! A combination of something wonderful baking in the kitchen and sweet incense. Incredible. Highly addictive!

  • RAJUL07/28/2007

thanks for your response ! where i live the summers are soooo HOT that they can cause heat rashes ! at the peek of summer i've discovered that the only bearable fragrances are o de lancome (gives you this amazing feeling of freshness like you stepped outta the shower !) eau de rochas which has a similar effect, cologne by thierry mugler, miss dior and similar kind of frags. the whiff of something strong in hot weather ruins the aura of the fragrance for me.........in the sense..... if it gives me a headache in summer, come winter im on my gaurd before using it as the memory of the headache pops into my subconscious as i reach out for the bottle !! thats the reason why im careful in keeping seperate frgrance wardrobes as per seasons. after all i want to love them ALL is'nt it (lol) ?

  • BARBARA W07/22/2007

I agree with you that this scent is at its best in the cooler months. When other fragrances seem to disappear under sweaters and jackets, L'Elephant projects a cozy aura and blends well with the scents of the holidays. It is my ultimate winter comfort scent. However, I also wear this on the occasional summer evening, and it's heaven mingled with the warm breezes outside. Wear a skirt and spray it behind your knees - it's perfect and not too strong. A sultry perfume for sultry evenings...

  • RAJUL07/17/2007

i recently got this one and was truely excited to unwrap it,based on all the wonderful reviews on it. in my opinion this is a cold weather scent and best used only then. in summer this can certainly end up giving the wearer aswell as the people around a STRONG HEADACHE. it has a dominant note of cinnamon that stays true even in the dry down. i am waiting to experience it in the winter though....... i have a feeling it will be sexy and lingering then !!

  • BULGARIAN04/28/2007

This smell is so overpowering that it actually makes me nauseous (and not just me but also people within a 2 mile radius)

  • BARBARA W04/11/2007

Hi GreekGirl! I'm so glad you love this! And to Uncle Tim - I agree that this could be a unisex fragrance and think it's great that you wear it. I'd love to smell this on a man. ;-)

  • UNCLE TIM 03/08/2007

I first smelled elephant in Heathrow airport and it was my favorite smell that day. I bought a bottle erroneously labeled as man's cologne very cheaply from Ebay. I wore it for a high level presentation before I came to realize that this was the girl smell. I offerred the bottle to my wife but it was too wild for her and I will not give it as a gift for I so love this smell. So I keep Elephant for myself and special occasions. To me elephant is a unisex smell. It not only is a very seductive smell, it is strong and very persisitent.

  • JILLIGAN01/30/2007

This was recommended to me as a summer replacement to Organza Indecence - I love this because it reminds me of the smell of Indian rice pudding! I've been wearing it since 2002.

  • JUDI W*01/18/2007

Whether you like this or not, is one thing, but to say this is an "old lady scent" is ridiculous. There are some fragrances out there that may smell old fashioned, or something someone older would like, but this is NOT one of them...sorry!

  • ~SEXXYREDD~01/13/2007

  • TARA12/30/2006

I read the rave reviews on this scent so decided to try it. It is very sweet and strong. I smells like a heavy perfume for an older woman. I asked some guys in their 20's and they all said, 'no way, smells like an old lady'...

  • GREEKGIRL12/04/2006

Hi Barbara, well we finally have it here in Australia and im glad to say i bought it the next day after trying it, well you were right, its hot hot hot! you described it perfectly, its very similar to Opium mixed with Angel to my nose, (which is another fav) thank you so much for getting me onto this, its fast becoming a favourite, hubby thinks its hot as well (wink wink) bye for now and happy sniffing, Helen.

  • SMELLIE KAT10/27/2006

Amy, to answer your question. . . maybe. Based on the scents you currently wear, you like to be noticed. And you will be with Jungle. It's spicier than anything you currently wear and it's a bit more "forward," if you know what I mean. You'll need confidence to pull it off and you'll want to be feeling a bit feisty when you wear it, because that's what it communicates. It's also incredibly sexy and it makes a statement all its own. Wear it boldly.

  • DEB10/06/2006

hi, could you please tell where you got the body lotion from, spend loads of time on internet and had no luck thankyou

  • AMY09/23/2006

My collection is as follows: Jivago 24k, D&B Light Blue, Burberry Brit, Angel, Victoria's Secret Heavenly, 212, White Musk "Body Shop" (wearing that since like 9th grade and I still love it!) I'm looking to try something new and based on these reviews, this perfume sounds great. I'm in my mid-twenties so I'm looking for something that compliments my age bracket. Do you think this could be it?

  • NICKIEM09/14/2006

Can anyone tell me where to find the Jungle L'Elephant body lotion? I'd bought it online a long time ago but can't find it.

  • FLIC09/04/2006

Where did you find the body lotion? i've looked everywhere, spent hours on the net

  • CK08/30/2006

Guess what I found! The lotion! Do you here me screaming yet! Yaaah! At another online store! And it smells wonderful just like the eau de parfum! I didn't even know they made a body lotion to this scent. The price was reasonable too!

  • MONIKA08/21/2006

This scent is unique. For unique woman and unique moments. Maravillous !

  • RED SARAH08/11/2006

I came across this perfume around 5 years ago. I used to wear Guerlain's Samsara until a few friends also started to wear it, we all smelt the same! I 'stumbled' across this perfume in a set of freebie products given to me by a department store. I adore this Perfume and wear it all the time, I'm not concerned about day and night protocol, if you like it, wear it. I get stopped so often by people enquiring about my perfume it's freaky! If I will never see them again I tell them, otherwise it's just Kenzo! If you like spices and incense then you will adore this perfume. If you like florals and citrus smells then there is still a Kenzo product for you so give it a go.

  • DOLLY DAGGER08/05/2006

After reading MANY of the posts on this site, I am very surprised this fragrance got such high points. Most spicy scents, usually are not tolerated well, but this one was, interesting. I really like this scent, but it is very spicy, at first, but dries down nicely. With all the "sugar & candy" lovers out there now, (yuk) I'm glad to see sometimes you guys have good taste. LOL...

  • **HEATHER**07/28/2006

I bought this edp a couple of years ago and it is still my favorite. I love it!

  • CK TO PAULETTE07/19/2006

I wish they would make a lotion or body cream out of this stuff! If it had the concentration as the perfume, I'd think you could hear me screaming on the web!

  • SMELLIE KAT06/30/2006

This may be the sexiest fragrance I have ever encountered. I turn MYSELF on when I wear it, regardless of what anyone else thinks (although my husband thinks it's very hot, too). It reminds me a bit of suede and has a smooth, velvet, earthy essence. It's very . . . sexual. Certainly not innocent but not a nose-burning-in-your-face-boldness, either. Its impact is kind of like a fine brandy or a fragrant single malt scotch; startling and soothing at the same time. I haven't worn it to work yet (I generally ignore all rules about day/night wear when it comes to a perfume I love) because it's almost too intimate - something private that I want to keep for myself and my man. My god, is there anything more intoxicating than just the right smell? This one is captivating.

  • DEBS06/14/2006

This is a rich and spicy fragrance...but in a sweet way. It is marvelous for Christmas and winter season. So delicious! And long lasting. It is a patchouli patch in a garden of cinnamon delight.

  • BARBARA W06/10/2006

Sorry, I don't know where to get the body lotion, but if you find it somewhere, please post a message here! I'd LOVE to buy some! :-)

  • PAULETTE P05/22/2006

I am looking for the L'elephant body lotion, Does Kenzo still make it? I just love the perfume and lotion

  • F. PASTAL05/22/2006

I love this perfume. It has a spicy smell, not harsh...very unique...no flowers or anything else to ruin the spicy effect. It's great. I have been wearing it for at least 7 years. I receive lots of compliments.

  • BARBARA W05/20/2006

Gosh, I totally understand how you can get tired of searching for a perfume you can love forever...my obsession with perfume never really goes away, but I go through phases where I just need to take a break from it. Maybe you're in the same space. But I certainly hope you don't give up for long! I love reading your posts here. Have you tried Just Me by Montana yet? Maybe, after giving your nose a break, you might find a new love in this one...I really think you'll like it. Anyway, here's to hoping your obsession returns soon...take care!

  • JUDI W.05/18/2006

Barbara, you & I like similiar scents, but in the past year, I've gotten obsessive over perfume. I must have bought ten different scents in the last few months, and I'm not crazy about any of them really. My search to find "the one", I think has come to an end. Everything is starting to smell blah to me already. I was gushing over Jungle for the past few years, and now it's starting to fade. Fendi, has been my all time favorite, and now it's just okay. I just purchased Nu, (okay) Todd Oldham (yuk) Mystere de Rochas (not bad) & Scent by Costume National (smelled better in the tester at Sephora's, won't wear it.) KL by Lagerfield, not so good, etc. I'm burnt out I guess. Hoping this will pass, and I'll be back in the saddle again. See ya...

  • *BARBARA W*05/13/2006

I can't wait to hear what you think of Jungle! Maybe if enough of it love it and buy it they won't discontinue it, as seems to happen to so many great frags. See ya later!

  • CHRISTA05/13/2006

This is definately a "spicy" scent. I can really detect cinnamon and incense along with licorice! Very Yummy and loonng lasting! Great bold scent!

  • LUSI05/11/2006

Thanks for writing about it ! After I read the posts I got to know this wonderful scent... and I just cant wait to have one !

  • GREEKGIRL05/09/2006

Hi Barbara, thanks for getting back to me, by your description sounds like im gonna love this as i love licorice frags like lolita and Opium is a past favourite of mine but now is a little strong for me but if jungle is softer im probably gonna luv it, ill have to try and track it down and see if i can order it without trying it, but it sounds like my kinda frag, spicy and sweet, let you know how i go (if i can get it). Bye and thanks again. Helen.

  • CHICBOHOGAL05/08/2006

Thank you, Kenzo, for having the guts to create a strong, passionate, spicy, sexy composition that in no way says "girly". You must be a confident, adventurous, strong woman to pull this off. Bravo!

  • *BARBARA W*05/05/2006

Hi there! Jungle is really hard to compare to other fragrances as it's very unique, but I think of it as a softer, creamier version of Opium. The licorice also reminds me Lolita Lempicka. Jungle is spicy and incensy, but with a touch of sweetness, too. If you like that sort of fragrance, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

  • GREEKGIRL05/03/2006

Hi there, could anyone please tell me if this fragrance is similar to any other one as i cannot find it in stores where i am and give me a description on what it smells like, many thanks.

  • LADY-BUG04/18/2006

I used to Like, not Love this fragrance and wear it occasionally. Until I drank to much one day I had it on now I cant stomach it anymore. I had to give it to my Mom who Loves it.

  • LUNA04/15/2006

I tend to have that problem where certain fragrance especially ones that I like, seem to disappear. Well I finally found this one and at first I thought No way! this is to strong! then finally the dry down and it not only lasted throughout the day on me but I was actually followed by a gentleman at a department store who kindly asked me what is that lovely perfume you are wearing? and the best compliment I received was by my cousin's daugter who then said you smell so good like really yummy! That was all I needed to hear. So many beautiful perfumes out there but I am truly happy to have found one of many that truly agrees with my chemistry.

  • GYPSY GIRL04/13/2006

About as close to a perfect fragrance as I've ever encountered. Take your perfume experience to the next level and wear this!

  • SAINT L04/11/2006

Does anyone know which store/site I can purchase a mini of this cologne? Hate to buy a large size since I don't know what it smells like. Thanks!

  • DK04/05/2006

I also get positive compliments on this perfume everywhere I go. I just love it. My husband wears Jungle pour Homme and it's really nice too. Sadly, it's getting more difficult to get hold of.

  • CATHY03/26/2006

this is the only perfume i get comments on - from everyone - friends, taxi drivers, strangers in the street - my male friends buy it for their girlfriends. Be warned it does not work on everyone - it is strong. Sensuous, exotic, spicy, warm, sexy. An elephant never forgets and no-one will forget you when you wear this!

  • NIKKI B02/01/2006

I read all of your positive comments on this fragrance and ended up purchasing it without smelling it first! I absolutely love the spicy fragrance! It dries down to a nice cinnamon incense smell on me. It's already one of my favorites!

  • *BARBARA W*01/24/2006

Yes, I think you would like this based on your other choices. This is a deep, rich oriental. It reminds me of a more modern version of Opium. It's spicy like Opium and shares some of the same notes, but it's not as harsh as Opium and has none of the floral notes. It's really unique, try it.

  • AMBER01/21/2006

I love perfumes but i cant really buy online of im not sure of what this smells like, is there someone out there that can tell me if this smells like another perfume? i like prada, angel, aqua di gio, hugo deep red, leau d'issey, michael corrs. would i like this?

  • MATUSHA01/12/2006

abundant and luxuriant nature, a sheet of palm tree violet opens in range on an impregnated perfume of colors and heat Note head: tangerine, cardamome Note heart: cumin, clove burning, heliotrope, ylang-ylang, mango Basic note: liquorice, vanilla, patchouli, cashmeran

  • *BARBARA W*01/04/2006

Hi Judi :) I, too, love Jungle; it is completely intoxicating. I recently read on a perfume blog that a fragrance called Dinner by Bobo is similar to Jungle. I haven't tried it yet, but am considering it. If you try it, let me know what you think! :) Cheers.

  • JUDI W.12/29/2005

I know I posted before but, I have tried to find another fragrance that is as wonderfully unique & incensy as this one, but I still haven't found it. I'm sure there are some very expensive design houses out there that I haven't tried yet, but can't afford it, I get this at a affordable price by where I live. I have many fragrances, but Fendi & Jungle are my two favorites, and the one's I get the MOST compliments on from men & women. I'm going on my third bottle and loving it! My kind of scent. (don't like trendy perfumes that everyone else wears). I don't smell this on anyone else but me. Try it, if you like something different.

  • MAGNOLIA12/24/2005

I can't believe I bought this blind, but all the rave reviews made me do it! I'm so so so glad I did. This combines most all of my favorite perfumes (Coco, Knowing, Dolce and Gabanna, Dior Addict)....and spins a magical spell that I just cannot describe. Strong but not heavy, sweet but not cloying, fresh but mysterious......just can't say enough about my Christmas present to myself!! I'm thrilled with the fragrance and the service from Perfume Emporium.

  • *BARBARA W*12/16/2005

I love this perfume more now than when I first bought it. It's comforting, warm, and spicy, and perfect for the cold weather. It's a "creamy" spicy smell, not harsh...very unique...no flowers or anything else to ruin the spicy effect. I get lots of compliments.

  • SUE C12/16/2005

"Exotic" is so overused when describing fragrances, but Kenzo's Jungle L'elephant really is senationally different. One whiff will knock your socks off, it is a complex blend of exotic ingredients that smell very tropical and very very sexy. It has excellent fixatives and so lasts a long time and you will leave a scent trail behind you - even on paper strips it lasts for ages. Jungle l'elephant would be great for a party if you want to be noticed. Personally, I love the bottle too! It's a collector's item. Try this scent if you're looking for something different.

  • STEFFANIE12/13/2005

This scent is fabulous, I loved it from the second I put it on. I was smelling my wrists all day long. Very different from anything I have but just wonderful.

  • EMILEE10/17/2005

This is absolutely the best. But is there a body lotion? I'm guessing that tiger lotion would not be the same smell. Are they compatible, or if not, what is? Help please.

  • EMILEE10/14/2005

Is there a body lotion for elephant, or just for tiger? Can you use the tiger lotion and elephant perfume? Love the elephant perfume, my ultimate favorite, would just like other products with same smell.

  • CATHY L.09/16/2005

Wow! This fragrance is just too unique and beautiful for words. It lasts and changes a little through the day... each stage of dry down is unique and luscious. I can't stop smelling myself... seems that others feel the same way.

  • JANE KAMBALAME08/10/2005

There has never been a single day that I have used this perfume without being asked what perfume I am wearing. It is a must-have and i would recommend it to every woman who wants to bring out her strong personality

  • PETUNIA04/23/2005

The first time I smelled this, it was worn by a vibrant, beautiful friend who is French. Her family and I were walking by the river where they live, and all of us kept thinking we were smelling flowers nearby, and kept looking for them, but it was Virginie. I remember it being a warm, rich, summery smell, which must have been strong for it to have "walked" along with us like that, but it did not seem strong.Rather, it was another element of her wonderful style and welcoming personality. This was maybe three years ago, and I remember the smell vividly as being quite unusual and not perfumey.

  • BARBARA04/22/2005

This scent must be worn by someone with confidence! It is a bold fragrance (in a good way), and the dry down is different on everyone. On me, for the first hour or so, I can definitely smell the licorice (similar to Lolita Lempicka, which I also love), but then the dry down turns into this wonderfully soft incense aroma. It also has great staying power. I don't think this is appropriate to wear to work, but everywhere else...wear it with gusto!! :) As a side note...I can see people either loving or hating this fragrance, but no in between.

  • BEBE03/20/2005

i demand the jungle. smooth. freshness. waterfall. ripples of elphants in my dreams. elephants stampeding my way. very nice.

  • BEBE03/15/2005

jungle fever elephant queen. safari thrills. light. fever fragrance so hot. id be in the jungle of elephants forever. very nice.

  • RHONDA02/26/2005

This is good stuff! Reminds me of Opium and Angel, put together in a good way!

  • JULIE02/12/2005

It doesn't matter the season (winter or summer), if a perfume is good. I live in Florida where the weather changes all the time. This fragrance doesn't seem to annoy others. (some do) In fact some people told me that this scent was one of the few that didn't. I like it alot. The drydown is the best part. To me it has an incense-like scent. It's definitely me...so is Fendi...

  • JUDI W.**12/26/2004

It's strange, when I first smelled this scent at a perfume counter, I initially disliked it immensely. When I walked around with it for a while and smelled my wrist, I went ga-ga for it. It smells incense-like and different from all the flowerey and fruity stuff that I hate out there. It's sexy and have got many compliments. This and Fendi are my all time favorites. Have tried many but these two turn me on the most.

  • SHARRIE12/21/2004

the wild jungle in my dreams. sweet dreams of elephants. station to stastion its flowng free beautifully in the jungle of my heart. wonderful.

  • SHARRIE12/06/2004

when i wear it i get jungle fever, great, totally adorable bottle too, as grand as an elephant, inspiring

  • SMILEY11/30/2004

This is my specialoccasions-perfume in colder weather. It almost heats me up! In summer it would make me sick but 4 winter/autumn it's perfect! I bought this in Paris and when I smelled it...God! It had a tremendous effect on me! At last, a sexy, seductive, attractive and sensual perfume in a very unique way! But you have to be a woman enough to wear it...

  • LIZ10/18/2004

I first learned of Jungle the elephant from a friend 10 years ago. Her husband brought it back from Germany for her. I just had to have some. I have been wearing it ever since. I have people stop me on thr street asking what I am wearing!

  • YUMMY09/27/2004

I tried jungle tiger and found it to be too sweet and there was no comparison to the elephant.

  • YUMMY09/27/2004

Yes, the jungle body lotion is wonderfully compatible with the perfume!

  • DELLI08/22/2004

reaction of a man - smell like just baked cookies yes its a bit strong but no chance to stay unnoticed

  • SMELLHAPPY08/19/2004

I too love this fragrance precisely because it is so "strong" and long-lasting and because it is unique and wonderfully non-trendy. Like others with dry skin, I tend to "absorb" fragrances and usually have to layer with other products in the line. Has anyone tried the body lotion, and is it true to the perfume? Thanks for your response(s).

  • CARLA08/01/2004

This is the most wonderful scent I have ever found for myself. My mother introduced my to it after finding it on a Caribbean cruise, and I am so happy I tried it. Everyone always comments on how wonderful it smells.

  • CK06/25/2004

For those who are not shy, this is a bold and seductive scent. To me, not a daily scent. Very, strong statement it makes like an "elephant"! It says, "I am here can you feel me"? Unsual notes, hot and spicy in its own way. Not timid, demands attention! Kenzo lets your imagination run with this one. If you could imagine the spices of Africa, India and other extotic places, this would be it!

  • TWILA01/17/2004

    sorry not my style

  • JESSICA01/09/2004

Is there a body lotion and/or shower gel available anywhere??

  • RALUCA12/16/2003

The patchuli in this perfume makes me feel so sexy. I fell in love with it "at first smell".

  • JAG10/20/2003

and absolutely wonderful. I enjoy being complimented on my perfume, but I buy it and wear it totally for myself. Perfume and cats (not a good mixture -- for the cats) are my passion. I love florals, orientals, etc., but my main prerequisite is staying power. This one ranks high in that area. It is very warm and unique. Just from reading the posts on this site, I took a chance. Thanks to all of you who gave positive reviews. It made my day!

  • KATHY1110/19/2003

Thanks so much for your great description! I really appreciate your taking the time to answer my question. I'll definitely stick with L'Elephant. I love it for the qualities you mentioned. Please let me know if there are any others out there that are as sensual as L'Elephant. You're great :-)

  • NORA10/16/2003

Hello, Kathy! Jungle L'Elephant and L'Tigre are not very similar, and I have to tell you: L'Elephant is much, much better. L'Tigre is lighter and not so soft and deep as L'Elephant. L'Tigre is not oriental, more kind of a fruity-sweet scent, maybe with some floral and spice notes. It is pretty weak!!! Staying power is around 15 minutes, at list on me, while L'Elephant lasts almost all day, and as someone said in a post - doesn't change! I read somewhere that L'Tigre was made for age range 15-35. L'Tigre is not very alluring and you'll probably forget it after 15 minutes - it hasn't "character" like L'Elephant. I found L'Elephant just great for winter. Hope that helps.

  • NORA10/15/2003

Recently I met a woman who smelled terrific - so warm and alluring, delicious and soft... The scent reminded me of Opium, but it was not so very spicy, it was softer and not so heavy, and it reminded me of Angel - but not so "gourmand". I had to ask her what was she wearing (the fragrance lingered around her like warm but subtle and tender weil), and she answered- Kenzo - Jungle L'Elephant. I tried it a couple of days ago - it was nice, but not so special on me. Anyway - very good. I' going to try Tigre, too.

  • SELINA10/09/2003

They've stopped producing Tiger and now only Jungle (which is former Elephant) is available...so I heard. Anyway, no matter what's it called - it's still great! Just bought it today ;-)

  • KATHY1109/30/2003

If I love Jungle L'Elephant - would I also like Jungle Tiger? How similar are they? Thanks to anyone who can help!

  • KATHY1109/28/2003

This perfume is amazing! It is a bit strong at first and then dries down to a warm, sexy, cozy scent. I highly recommend it.

  • DEB08/18/2003

I've been in love with this scent since my first encounter, and have not been without it since. I wear it daily and people love it. I get compliments everywhere I go.

  • NAKEDCITY07/14/2003

This is simply amazing. With my chemistry and my dry skin nothing stays on long or remains spicy;after a while all scents disappear or turn boring vanillic. Not my elefant. 10 stars!!

  • BARBARA07/11/2003

Unique fragrance. Very long lasting. Good for evening wear, especially. My husband loved it!

  • PERFUMELADY07/07/2003

Very unique fragrance, warm and rich smelling. Lasts a long time. My husband went wild when he smelled it.

  • DENISE05/20/2003

I'm so glad my review helped you decide to give this one a try, you won't be sorry!! Other spicy and heavy scents you might find attractive are "Coco" and "Tea for two" by L'artisan. Good luck!!!

  • PERFUME JUNKIE05/11/2003

Thank you! I'm a perfume nut like you and I love strong scents. I'll definitely try this one. :)

  • HISAKO02/27/2003

I ordered this without trying. But guess what?! I am very pleased! This is a little bit heavy scent yet not overwhelming. Dry down is vanilla with "yammy" spicy something. Probably this is for special time but I think I will wear the scent all the time. I like it and the scent lasts true for a long time as someone mentioned it in this site. I am glad I got it and now I am thinking about order "tiger".

  • KIMBERLY02/22/2003

My ex-husband bought me Jungle a few yrs. ago and at first I thought he was just being evil buying me this nasty smelling perfume. Oh My God! I could literally drown myself in this scent and so would everyone who comes in contact with me. I've had men and women track me down just to find out what it is I'm wearing.

  • DANA01/21/2003

people stop me in the streets to ask what frangrance i'm wearing. it's sexy and warm and the scent remains true for hours.

  • DENISE11/12/2002

why it took me so long to try this one after hearing and reading only great things about it. I received it today after ordering it from this excellent site without having tried it before and...WOW!!! What a jewel!!! Sweet and spicy at the same time, stays true for hours and is very unusual so I don't smell myself everywhere. I have been wearing Organza Indecence in winter and l'eau par Kenzo and Jaipur by Boucheron for summer; I think I'm going to replace them all with L'elephant. If you are a perfume nut like me, try this one!!!

  • CYNTHIA10/04/2002

This is a great scent for gals who love spicy, warm fragrances. I get loads of compliments from men AND women when I wear this!

  • ASCHATAN03/19/2002

Like an elephant... very very heavy, and it seems to grow even heavier while you wear it. Lovely cardamom and vanilla and I don't know what, though.

  • KC03/11/2002

This is a very unusual scent that's a little spicy. I agree this is not a scent you wear daily. I also get compliments on this! People always want to know what I am wearing! " five stars for this one!"

  • ROXANA01/31/2002

I discovered this parfume 5 years ago and I'm still crazy about it. I have many parfumes but this is the only one I'm using for special events.
