  • X.G.03/09/2011

Real good stuff and I agree it does resemble JOOP! a little. Somewhat strong with a hint of sweetness could use a bit more longevity but still love it as do the women. Nice bottle and I'd prefer to wear this over JOOP! anyways just to avoid the mainstream category.

  • BEAVAN OO706/25/2010

wat a aftershave a hit with the ladies wich is always is good

  • MR. LONGROVE04/14/2008

I'd say anything over two sprays is too much when using Cristobal, unless they're very short sprays. It's fairly strong. If I know I'm going to be at close quarters with a lady then I'll spray it from arms length, and just one spray does it. If at a party I'd spray a little on my hands and spread it from neck to shoulders. Keep in mind that too much cologne is as bad as BO.

  • ZAYIN03/08/2008

Cristobal is definitely a cooler temp fragrance. I can't imagine wearing it in warm weather.

  • YAKOV08/19/2007

Cristobal smells good on others, but on myself it dries down to reveal a synthetic, oily quality that doesn't appeal to me at all and reminds me of its presence the whole darn day. I get the same from Escada's Magnetism and Joop! Perhaps I should ease up on the trigger since normally I tend to spray at least 5 shots...

  • MARIO JUSTINIANI02/24/2007

George, after rebuying this, I found that it was now too sweet for my taste! I still think it's a cool clubbing scent with MONSTER sillage: While it's not as synthetic as JOOP and its grape-weird drydown, neither is it as good as The Compliment Gatherer: M.B. Individuel-- which is saved from saccharine cloyness by the juniper notes--Yes, all 3 do have strong sillage. OK. look, if you want something sweet and masculine that'll stand out but not SHOUT give these a try: 1. Geir (Norwegian mountain breeze) 2. Nicole Miller for Men ( heart breaking romantic juice) 3. Le Roy Soleil by Dali ( citrus/fruit great in jeans or tux) 4. Salvador by SD (woods/sweet, another romantic masterpiece) 5. Egoiste by Chanel (watch it, though: It's 'suit and tie.' formal) 6. Habit Rouge ( cold weather only--and spray light!) 7. Himalaya (can barely call this 'sweet'--it's Individuel's rich uncle, pure class) 8. Rochas Man (now this IS sweet, a 'gourmand' and an improvement on A*Men) 9. Cacharel ( nutmeg/sweet, best in winter) 10. Jaipur PH (Super Oriental, almost feminine were it not so well balanced. Definite babe magnet-- but spray even lighter than Habit Rouge.) Have fun, and be well. Mario.

  • PEPP12/10/2006

THIS ONE I'M STILL NOT SURE ABOUT. BOUGHT IT BASED ON REVIEWS, BUT THE INITIAL SCENT DONT GRAB MY ATTENTION, THE DRYDOWN IS A LITTLE BETTER. I'LL GIVE IT SOME TIME MAYBE IT'LL GROW ON ME LIKE THE VERSACE DREAMER. SO INSTEAD OF HURTING THE REVIEW I'LL GIVE IT AVERAGE

  • TONYGIO12/06/2006

..there's more going on here than I originally noticed, so for me the jury is still out on this one. Site description of scent is accurate..and this is definitely intense stuff! Is that incense I'm picking up? Perhaps you all will just have to sample it and decide for yourselves...

  • CURIOUS 12/03/2006

For those more experienced cologne wearers...you know that some fragrances are better suited for particular seasons. Which do you think Cristobal is best suited for...colder or warmer weather?

  • TONYGIO12/03/2006

very very sweet-almost cotton candy-ish...until it quickly powders down. Still, there is a subtle refinement to it, though it is definitely aimed at the under 30 crowd I'd say.Good, but there is a new Valentino cologne out right now that perhaps offers a little more than this one... imho of course... :)

  • ROB H.11/07/2006

Yes, Cristobal and Cristobal PH are the same. Take care

  • AP10/25/2006

Is Cristobal and Cristobal Pour Homme the same colognes

  • ROB H.09/22/2006

Hi George. To be honest, Cristobal is similar more to Joop! which as you know is a spicy/sweet evening-wear fragrance while MBI is more ambery/floral-sweet and for casual daily wear and even the office environment. Cristobal comes on strong at first (like JOOP!) but dries down to an ambery/sweet-vanilla (MBI). Hope that answers you're question. Take care

  • GEORGE E08/19/2006

Never smelled this before but comments of being similar to joop. Mont Blanc Indivuel is similar to joop. So does Cristobal smell similar to Mont Blanc?

  • VICTOR RICHLAND CREIGHTON III07/26/2006

3rd time around trying to post a review/rating on this product. Excellent, just flatout excellent stuff! Elegant, luxurious and great for any age male out there. Strong but sweet and similar to JOOP! like a couple of people had stated but can be differentiated in the drydown and I'd rather wear this one anyways 'cause JOOP! is somewhat commonly worn during the evenings out there.

  • ROWAN07/17/2006

This is a great fragrance - just love it!!! It lasts a long time too - it's on the top of my list of favorites!!!

  • GRAMMATON CLERIC07/14/2006

Semi-spicy and sweet fragrance is so very sensual and sophisticated stuff and I'm always complimented highly.

  • CRIS KAANTO05/14/2006

Lovely and very sexy sweet, ambery and vanilla aroma apparently is a bit of a sleeper out there and mystery to the women who ponder what that sexy scent I'm wearing is.

  • RX-803/22/2006

Strong but sweet & ambery fragrance is a fairly sexy sleeper for the women to ponder but I have to carry the bottle with me 'cause it doesn't last more than an hour.

  • ZAYIN02/12/2006

Cristobal is a great fragrance. There is a vague similarity to Joop but that's it. I think Cristobal is classier. It doesn't last quite as long I'd like but that's my only complaint.

  • FLYBOY01/23/2006

If you like Joop you will love this fragrance. It has incredible projection and it will surely get people's attention in either a positive or negative manner. Definetly for the younger "club going" crowd.

  • AQUARIUS4.701/07/2006

A hidden gem this fragrance is! A bit strong at first but dries down very nicely. Very sophisticated and even sporty stuff. Love the bottle too!

  • ANT12/23/2005

SMELLS VERY SIMILAR TO JOOP. EXCEPT THAT THIS ONE IS MORE WARM AND NATURAL SMELL. OTHERWISE IT IS A FANTASTIC MASCULINE FRAGRANCE. BOTTLE DESIGN IS ALSO SUPERB!

  • BRABUS12/21/2005

Bold, sexy and sophisticated as hell! Always getting complimented wherever I go when I'm wearing it.

  • DUC12/13/2005

Truly Balenciaga's flagship fragrance is this bold, masculine and sensual cologne for the modern man.

  • C. R.12/05/2005

Tony T. had me looking for the Joop similarity, and it's there but disappears after a few minutes and isn't very noticeable at all after a few applications. It is sweeter, better version of Iceberg Twice, which always seems to be missing something. Cristobal found that something.

  • A. BOREALIS12/05/2005

Very bold, masculine and versatile fragrance starts out a bit strong but sweetens up with its sensual vanilla drydown. I also really love the bottle design.

  • M.R.11/23/2005

Starts out rather strong but dries down to a sophisticated and elegant sweetness of ambery/vanilla. Very imaginitive bottle design.

  • ERMAC11/22/2005

This sleeper shuffles itself in my top three next to Basi Homme and Vera Wang. Strong but sweet, sophisticated and sexy! Soccer superstar David Beckham wears this remarkable fragrance for those unaware.

  • JEFF11/16/2005

This is a much more sophisticated and smooth scent than Joop. Joop always smelled like a gas station rest room air freshener to me. Cristobal is much more subtle, but still very powerful. As has been said before "a must have" in any mans collection. This is an original, not a copy.

  • HAROLD11/07/2005

A wonderful sleeper of a cologne and a total mystery to most out there. Starts out a bit strong but dries down really nice with its Joop/Rochas Man likeness.

  • BIGNUTZ11/04/2005

JOOP! IS A BIT TOO COMMONLY WORN AND FOR THOSE WHO DON'T WANT TO BE LIKE THE REST OF THE TYPICAL GENERAL POPULATION OF MEN, THEN TRY THIS STUFF. IT'S DOESN'T SEEM TO LAST VERY LONG BUT IT'S QUITE THE ELEGANT AND SOPHISTICATED COLOGNE FOR BEING A SLEEPER.

  • N2DBLU10/30/2005

Sampled this based solely on the reviews I've read from some of most common names on this website in particular this Rob H., W.B. and R.J. I must say this is rather strong, somewhat sweet and sleek stuff. It reminds me a bit of Joop! but maybe a little better. This Tony T character appears to be a bit of hater of the three names I mentioned.

  • P.T. STOCTOROCTON10/29/2005

A strong and elegant semi-sweet/ambery cologne that is a total mystery to just about anyone that smells it on me. Great for just about any type of use.

  • J. YORK09/12/2005

I would agree with a couple of the reviews that it does smell a little like JOOP! but I'd rather wear this simply because JOOP! is a bit overly worn and why not wear this one a be unique and mysterious to the women.

  • KENNETH V. RICHELIEU08/01/2005

Although this is one of the cheapest-priced colognes in my collection..........the scent is too good to be true. Not to mention, if millionaire soccer ace David Beckham wears it........then it must be pretty darn good.

  • JULIAN C. STRATUSON07/22/2005

Absolutely one of the most sexy and sophisticated fragrances I've ever smelled as well as all the women around me on a daily basis. A bold, masculine and one-of-a-kind experience amongst the cologne industry for men.

  • K. WIMPINO07/19/2005

Wonderful fragrance in the same ballpark as Signature..........a wonderful sleeper.

  • Z.G. ARCHIBALD07/13/2005

From what I've been reading lately on this page and the Joop! review page that these are both similar but that this is a ripoff of Joop! To me, they both share a similar sweetness but I'd rather go with Cristobal simply because it's a mystery to women and Joop! is a bit too common but not overly common like Curve, Cool Water, Chrome, Drakkar Noir, etc. So it doesn't last very long, so what! Whatever I might be doing at certain times of the day or night, I'll carry it with me or leave it some place remote like in my car so I can spritz more on.

  • DAN B.06/29/2005

I recently compared the two and yes they are similar, but I found that Cristobal is better on the dry down and is not as overpowering as Joop! I also found that Cristobal is more masculine and less flowery. I will definitely buy a bottle of Cristobal soon!

  • ALEX06/25/2005

Joop is a very popular cologne, OK so you don't like Cristobal but get off it's back all ready! I personaly think it is one of the best and I always get positive comments.

  • MARIO JUSTINIANI06/20/2005

Tony: Yes, you got the men's cologne. Balenciaga paints it as blue in their ads, God alone knows why, but it's a greenish/ yellow (not beige--that's the woman's as Rob H. pointed out) color. It's also er . . .similar to Joop, or perhps you're right, a direct rip off. I tried your "test" --see my review on Joop. So you're not crazy. Perhaps I am but I like Cristobal better. it may be my body chemestry or wigged out brain synapses but Joop--after the first hour :)-- seems to me to have a strange floral note that feels a bit synthetic. If I want floral, I'll wear Annucci. On the other hand, with Cristobal, what you see--except for the blue--is what you get; an ambery oriental vanillic that does not overdo the vanila tone. In fact it harmonizes it very well. Be Well.

  • MARCO TESTAVERDE06/12/2005

I don't know about Brian and this friggin' Tony T. but this fragrance rocks every woman around me. It's not commonly worn which is good but the bad is that it doesn't seem to last, BUT THAT'S OkAY MAN!! If a millionaire soccer star like David Beckham can wear it with a beautiful wife like Posh Spice who loves it on him, then it can't be that bad!

  • TONY T05/17/2005

this is the equal remake of joop.. am i the only sane guy who thinks cristotrash smells like joop..????

  • JEFF S.05/11/2005

I honestly think you did get a bad or fake bottle of cristobal. This stuff is long lasting thats why TOM, who posted his message at the bottom, recommends to use this cologne sparingly. I still think cristobal is one of the finest fragrances around.

  • BRIAN05/09/2005

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad smelling cologne, but it smells nothing like Joop and is a much weaker scent. Get compliments on Joop everywhere I go. Cristobal - I'd need to carry around a refresher bottle to reapply every 20 minutes - this stuff is weak in my opinion. Decent for the office, evening - forget it. Maybe it's just my body chemistry or got a bad bottle of cologne.

  • MRLONGROVE04/19/2005

I GOT CRISTOBAL MIXED UP WITH BODY KOUROS! SO IGNORE THAT LAST MESSAGE. I still recommend Cristobal though. It is a great cologne!

  • DAN CURTIS02/27/2005

DESPITE TONY T'S OPINION I LOVE THIS FRAGRANCE, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY HE GAVE JOOP A POSITIVE REVIEW AND CRISTOBAL A NEGATIVE IF THEY SMELL SO MUCH ALIKE. IF YOU BASE YOUR OPINION ON THE FRAGRANCE YOU'LL KNOW IT IS A FINE MASCULINE SCENT. TONY T. TAKE CARE.

  • OSCAR HONEYCOMB02/19/2005

Perhaps you should smell it next time before you buy it. Going just by reviews doesn't tell you what it smells like.

  • ROB H.02/18/2005

The light green bottle with the waves going down the back is Cristobal Pour Homme which smells better than any Joop! product out there. Since you said the bottle color of the stuff you tried was beigish, then I would suspect you got Eau de Cristobal.......for women.

  • TONY T02/15/2005

i bought this solely based on reviews but this is a carbon copy of joop which came out in 1989

  • TONY T02/09/2005

i had to get this. 2 minutes after i tried it on it smelled like joop. 2 hours and it still smells like joop. please somebody tell me otherwise and unlike the picture cristobal is not blue but beigish.

  • PEPE LE PEW01/06/2005

Very very sensual and pleasant scent. Definitely romantic. Not too Sweet and very seductive. This scent has a way of captivating your senses and emotions the longer you smell it. I highly recommend it. I guess it's true Italians do do it better

  • THE KING OF SPAIN01/05/2005

When i wear CRISTOBAL i feel like the king of Spain! Lasts longer than Rochas Man and isn't as sweet...it's more like a dry, roasted coffe smell with other spices. I LOVE IT!

  • R.J.12/08/2004

A VERY EXQUISITE SCENT THAT CAN BE WORN ANYTIME YOU FEEL LIKE SMELLING YOUR VERY BEST. THE WOMEN LOVE IT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

  • W.B.11/03/2004

DEFINITELY TOP SHELF FOR MY COLLECTION. THE WOMEN THINK SO TOO.

  • JOSE 10/17/2004

This stuff is awsome!!! Very unique fragrance,GIVE IT A TRY!

  • TONI FINISH07/22/2004

Although David Beckham likes this, it cant spoil the fact, that this is a fine fragrance. And somehow I really dont think it is so similar to Rochas Man. But like I said it is great. For me, it smells like a slightly burned popcorn bowl, which is lefted to the unknown forest of somekind-summerland. I know, I am weird.

  • ROB H. 05/29/2004

Might contain a note or two that's used in Rochas Man and Chevignon 57 being that it's scent smells somewhat similar except a tad bit less fruity and little stronger. This elegant and quite unique scent can probably do battle against some of it's refined competition such as Giorgio Armani, Vera Wang and John Varvatos. A wise choice among masculine scents.

  • CLAUDIO04/11/2004

This is truly the best cologne for men. I bought it Paris for the first time back in 2001, and since I would never wear anything else. It is not strong, but it is also not weak. It makes you and all of your clothes smell incredible. It is such a unique fragrance. Buy it!

  • TOM02/24/2004

Strong, long lasting scent. Use sparingly. Smells very much like Rochas Man.

  • ERICK2512/31/2003

It's a great scent, and even better...it's David Beckham's favorite. Or so he said so on England TV. Keep the secret.

  • DAVE11/19/2003

This is one of my favorites, and people always ask me what it is. If you want a unique scent, and don't want to smell like everyone else, get Cristobal.

  • RICARDO07/24/2003

    It´s a real great aroma.

  • JOE MILLIONAIRE02/13/2003

Warning: This scent is to be worn with confidence, class, and a mysterious nature. It is a fantastic scent! It is extremely sophisticated, yet VERY modern. The women love it too...trust me. Notes of Columbian Coffee, tea, vanilla, tobacco, nutmeg, coriander, white pepper, sandalwood, and artemesia will put your head in a spin. The best part about it is that the longer you wear it, the more it develops.

  • MAURICIO01/27/2003

This is an example of a good sweet cologne, better than Jean Paul G, and is log lasting, the best Balenciaga´s cologne
