What a lovely, clean scent. My man is away at the moment, but i am so looking forward to him falling in love with me all over again wearing this beautiful perfume. love it, makes me feel special.

  • PAULINE06/20/2011

I love this perfume every day in work I get told how lovely I smell and asked what perfume Im wearing.

  • RAN12/26/2010

i wear this and people ask all the time, what am i wearing. love it

  • LISY05/21/2010

This stuff is just aweful. You can smell this stuff a mile away. It's so stong and just pure alchol. Horride

  • JOIFUL103/24/2010

I'm never one to say bad things about a fragance but this one was extremely disappointing for me. I made the mistake of purchasing a bottle just based on the fact that this was by Ralph and that the quality would be above par. Man was I in for a surprise! This doesn't feel or smell like romance to me at all but is very sharp and almost offensive....smells like strong cheap bath soap! I'm sorry but it even makes me feel nauseous. I've really tried to warm up to it by wearing it more than once but everytime I put it on I feel sick to my stomach and cant wait to wash it off. This one is just not for me! Not at all romantic.

  • ERIN06/04/2008

Love it! It's warm, light, sexy..yummy! And it's not too strong and overpowering...just right. It makes me feel fresh, femininne and beautiful. I never get tired of it. And the bottle is so classy and elegant. My only issue with it is that it doesn't last long.

  • LINDSAY04/13/2008

I've been reading this board and I think its hard to judge a fragrance by what someone else says. I've worn Romance for almost 8 years, and every single time I get a compliment. My friend hates it because on her it smells like bug spray. We all have different pH and body smells and I'm sure that not all of them mix well with certain fragrances. In any case, I highly recommend it. It stays on for hours. I have 3 bottles. One in the purse, one at the house, and one in my car.

  • MADELEINE04/08/2008

There is just something truly romantic about this fragrance. Maybe I love it so much because at the time I first started wearing it seven years ago my life was intensely romantic. I think this would make a perfect wedding day fragrance. It's blissful, soft and feminine. I wish I'd worn it for my wedding now (I wore Happy Heart) xxx

  • ANGELIQUE01/11/2008

This is nice but it doesn't wow me. It's just sort of 'there' really, a little bit unmemorable. It's not a bad scent but it's not the kind to make a lasting impression on me.

  • LASSIE01/07/2008

...I love 'woods' notes but don't get any. All I can smell is a blast of rose! It's not good, it's not bad, but it IS very strong. And kind of sharp. Eh. If someone gave me a bottle I'd be pleased and would wear it once in a while, but I wouldn't go out and buy it.

  • CHRISTINA07/05/2007

I definitely agree with Kalina this fragrance do not last long at all. In fact it last less than an hour. Even layering it with the lotion don't help much either. It smells nice but you want quality fragrance. This is not it.

  • DEWY MIST07/03/2007

I've had this perfume for quite a while now and it looks as if it's brand new. I am the type that sprays perfume lavishly, but not with this perfume. It's quite potent and gives me a headache at times. I find that one spray is really all you need with this one. The scent is not bad....if only it wasn't so strong.

  • SAM07/01/2007

very cheap, chemical smelling - it doesnt smell like perfume.could all the designers stop selling cheap air freshners, toilet deodorisers and floor cleaners in the name of ladies fragrance? But sadly it seems that the mass market is not well educated about fragrance that many are willing to pay $$$ for cheap toxic chemicals. to each their own...

  • SWATI04/20/2007

Its a nice sophisticated perfume. I have a couple of fragrances that I use accoridng to my mood. This is a floral, citrusy and woodsy scent perfect for outings..

  • KALINA02/02/2007

this is nothing special at all..i have a 1.70z and may use this once in a while..plus it doesnt last verry long at all.

  • MAGIC_JAN02/01/2007

I got this from christmas. It's nice and stay last.just spray it twice on you,if you dont want to get over powering.

  • SERENITY12/30/2006

I like this. I got it for Christmas, and it smells clean and pleasant, although a little sharp. It reminds me of Pink by Victoria's Secret. Nothing memorable about it, but I will definitely wear it as an everyday or work fragrance.

  • KINSEY12/22/2006

Classically beautiful, elegant, and feminine. This has been a staple in my wardrobe since 1998. There are times when I just need to wear it. It's very beautiful.

  • GINA D11/02/2006

Hi Jessica, I am so excited that you are willing to trade with me. I am not the best at desribing fragrances. Chanel's Allure Sensuelle is just that, so sensual! It's very classy & chic. I bought a bottle a couple of months ago & my friend had a bottle she was wanting to trade me for so I wound up having 2 bottles. The Givenchy Hot white collection is very unique. Try reading about it on perfume emporiums website it could probably describe it better than I. Extraordinary is one of my favorites, it smells of chocolate truffles mixed with champagne, it is very sexy & elegant, good for day or night. Also the Chanel Allure Sensuelle is very sexy & can be worn day or night as well. I hope this helps. Here is my email so you can contact me. [email protected]. Thanks a bunch!

  • JESSICA10/30/2006

hi, for some reason when I posted a reply to you a while ago it never showed on this message board so I'm going to post again. sorry for the long wait. Ok, the thing is I've already said that I would trade with someone else BUT it just so happens that I have another one I'm willing to trade, it's Elizabeth Arden Provocative woman. would you be interested in trading with me? let me know!

  • JESSICA10/30/2006

hey, for some reason my first post didn't get through to this message board so I'm going to post a second time. Yes, I would love to trade with you. though I've never sampled the perfumes you mentioned. I was wondering if it's not too much trouble, will you be willing to describe the scent of each one? thanks.

  • STEPHANIE10/28/2006

They are very similar and I love them both. Reserve is a lot cheaper and I like the bottle more but Romance is my first love so Romance will always be #1. Perry Ellis Reserve is discontinued so it's a little harder to find.

  • STEPHANIE10/28/2006

Jessica has a true perfumed heart. She would rather give up a bottle of perfume because she can't enjoy it and let someone else enjoy it. Perfume deserves a good home! Very classy Jess.

  • JESSICA10/27/2006

Hey Mick, thanks for replying. Unfortunately I already said that I would trade with someone else BUT, if you're are interested, it just so happens that I have another perfume to trade. Would you be interested in trading anything for Elizabeth Arden Provocative Women? let me know.

  • JESSICA10/27/2006

Hey! Yes, I would love to trade. Hmm as for the choices to tell you the truth, I've never tried the perfumes you mentioned though I smelled Allure Sensuelle before and found it a bit too strong. Maybe I could get a brief description of the perfumes you mentioned then I'll have an idea. If it's not too much trouble for you...thanks!

  • MICK10/26/2006

Jessica, I would love an opportunity to try Romance!! I have samples but haven't taken the time to buy it. I would even pay for the shipping!!

  • GINA D.10/23/2006

Hi Jessica, I would be willing to trade. The options I have for trading are an 1.7 oz bottle of Allure Sensuelle, a 1/2 3.4 oz bottle of Givenchy Hot White Collection, 1/2 1.7 oz bottle of Kenzo le monde est beau, or if interested a new in box bottle of Avon Extraordinary. let me know if any of these spark your interest. I & my husband both are lovers of Romance so I would greatly appreciate it.

  • JESSICA10/19/2006

Hi, I was wondering if anyone is interested in trading. I have a bottle of Romance, used only once or twice. I love the smell on others but for some odd reason it's rather unpleasant on me. So now it's just sitting there collecting dust and I reallythink it's a shame to see it go waste. I'm sure there's someone out there who can appreciate the scent. Heck I might even give it up for free just to see that it's of use to someone. so...if anyone's interested please let me know.

  • CHRISTOPHER10/03/2006

more women should wear this perfume, it smells so incredible, its an aphrodisiac

  • CK07/22/2006

That's funny I've had this for years and never posted anything about. I know what happen, a co-worker had got this when it came out. And she wore it everyday! I liked it so I purchased it. But she wore it every day. Then I did not like it as well, and didn't wear it for a long, long time. So when fragrances get too popular and you don't want to add to group just put it on the shelf so-to-speak. Let it cool down in popularity for awhile then go back to it. Just as I did this, now it smells great again!

  • D-UNIT04/24/2006

It smells like every sickly sweet perfume out there. And everybody seems to be wearing it. I like Chanel's perfumes better.

  • BILLYE T04/11/2006

I love Ralph Lauren! My home and I could be a tribute to him. I wear his line of clothing, my linens are Ralph Lauren, I have furniture from his line, and I have even painted my walls using his line of paint. Why doesn't his perfume work for me? I want so bad for his fragrances to be as soft as his linens, as cozy as his robes and as comfortable as his leather furniture. I have tried every fragrance he has come out with and none work for me. The perfume lady said Romance was their #1 seller but on me it's a blah, artificial floral. On me, most of Lauren perfumes all seem to carry that one note that is the basis for all his fragrances. I see so many men buying Lauren perfumes for their wives or girlfriends and it is obvious men love it. If only Ralph fragrances would love me back.

  • ROBIN 01/31/2006

I really like Ralph Lauren -- he's a modern American fashion icon, loyally married, dedicated to quality and timeless appeal -- and I loved the Romance ad campaign and I think Penelope Cruz is exquisite. And I love Venezia, the fragrance that Lizzie mentioned a post or two ago. So how come Romance leaves me stone cold???? I have the same trouble with all of the Ralph Lauren fragrances. I just don't "get" them. There's something sharp and dense and synthetic and impenetrable about them. I've also heard that Ralph is similar to Paris Hilton, but again, I just don't get it. I mean, I can understand it logically, but I can't feel it emotionally. Ralph is like an ersatz Paris H., and I've tried them side by side over and over to try and MAKE myself see the light. I feel like a failure!!! You know those drugstore scents that are supposed to smell like the real thing? "Smells like" Tommy Girl, "Smells like" Obsession and the like? That's what Ralph Lauren fragrances remind me of. I don't at ALL want to offend Romance lovers, please understand that. This is just my own nose talking, and I have to be honest. I just mention all of this so that if, in the back of your mind, you've been feeling the same way, I want you to know you're not the only one!!!!! So do try Venezia, as Lizzie says, if you're leaning towards Romance but there's just something missing there for you. . .:-D

  • JENNIFER01/14/2006

I love the sweet smell of Romance and well it smells on just about any one but it doesn't last very long it needs to last longer, they need to add more oil and less water.

  • LIZZIE11/30/2005

if you enjoy romance, like i do, you might want to try venezia. they smell VERY similar...especially the top notes. the middle notes of romance are a bit zestier, while venezia has a riper sweetness to it. but it could be a nice alternative, if you're interested. i just sprayed romance on one wrist, and venezia on the other, and the similarity is pretty striking. :-D i love both. enjoy!

  • JESSI11/16/2005

When you first spray it on it has that gingery smell that makes it a bit unpleasant and overpowering but it soon dries down to a really pretty floral scent that's very feminine. Down-side is you have to spray it on a couple of times 'cause it tends to fade after a few hours. Definently not my fave but still nice.

  • KALILA11/10/2005

Romance by Ralph Lauren is floral, musky, and woody. Romance is captured in this very feminine, sensual blend of velvety woods, extravagant florals, and seductive musk. Top notes intertwine with sungoddess rose, marigold, ginger, chamomile oil, yellow freesia, mellowed by white violet, lotus flower, and day lily, and finished with base notes of patchouli "coeur," oakmoss, and skin musk 2000. This fragrance is suitable for all age women. Lots and lots of compliments with this one.

  • FMEBEAR11/08/2005

I love it! It does come off strong at first, but then settles to a great fragrance! I receive many compliments when I wear it.

  • LINA10/03/2005

This parfume likes most of people, for sure man and girls.I will have another bottle soon and does not matter how much it cost.Best regards to all of you:)

  • ANNA09/26/2005

It comes off really strong, to the point of it being too much. Laundry-rose smell. And then, if you play your cards right it fades away. Just walk around a bit. Not a keeper at all.

  • BRITTNEE09/20/2005

Vey sexy and womanly, but with a masculine note to it. If that makes any sense.

  • JESSICA09/18/2005

I absolutely love this perfume! It is very long-lasting and smells beautiful! I wear it often and people are constantly complimenting me on how good I smell. I also recommend Light Blue by Dolce and Gabbana and Euphoria by Calvin Klein.

  • JULIA07/28/2005

I bought this fragrance a few years ago because I liked the ads. But unfortunately, it turned out as - cheap. I once used a fabric softener for my laundry that smelled exactly the same, somewhat rose-like. I don't use this conditioner any more because I do not want my clothes smell so "flat". Therefore, my signature scent should be even more sophisticated! ;-)

  • NIAYA07/09/2005

I love this fragrance, its my favorite. The smell is very light, fresh, and sweet.

  • BEBE BULLET07/08/2005

a perfect blind date. flameing. truth o dare. wow. very nice.

  • DEEVEE06/09/2005

Smells almost exactly like Perry Ellis Reserve. If you want this type of scent but pay less, you're better off with Reserve.

  • REBECCA05/14/2005

Couldn't help but reply lol, this is an eau de parfum. The "vaporisateur" means a spray in french. So the bottle sprays, that's all it means. A parfum is more concentrated than the eau de parfum. It might last all week with a parfum, depending on the scent, and the person's chemistry with it.

  • FLORA03/18/2005

Last weekend, Out of curiosity, I tried this best selling perfume for the first time. It must say it's mediocre at best. True, Ralph Lauren mostly caters to preppy comsumers that at times just want to comform. And perhaps that's why this perfume sells so well in the States. After putting "Romance" on and walked around for a few minutes, I started to find this scene annoying. It just reminds me of the $10-per-bottle essential oil/ imitation perfume they sell on the streets. It does not have any characters at all: not feminine, not sweet, not bold, not offensive, not pleaseant and definitely far from my idea of romance and completely forgettable. My boyfriend said I smelled like Suave hairspray. It did last for a long time though, that smell of Suave hairspray, even after my attempt to wash it off. I think I better stick to my Marc Jacobs perfumes.

  • DANIELA03/13/2005

I bought the Romance tender notes limited edition bottle, and it is awesome!! It lasts all day too. Not too strong, and still very feminine. I´ve gotten tons of compliments on it.

  • T C02/24/2005

Just great, light, sweet, romantic and perfect. It is strong enough and lasts all day. I love this and wear it almost everyday. I recommend this 100%

  • LOU02/09/2005

This scent is a classic, a must have for any collection! It is one of my favorites and I wear it on a daily basis.

  • STEVE01/30/2005

I consider Romance a masculine floral scent. I have read some reveiws that the mens version is to feminine smelling. Maybe they should have marketed the mens version to women and the womens to men. Anyway, i like the womens version better so that is what i wear. It smells nicer and has a very nice masculine drydown.

  • SHARRIE01/29/2005

ROMANCE is in the air. lovely delight. dreamy. makes the rain stop. wonderful.

  • ANN01/10/2005

Romance has the best scent to me. It has the smell of expensive classy perfume. Try it, you will like it!!

  • FAME01/07/2005

My bf got me this one for x-mas. No matter how much I spray on, 10 minutes later it's barely detectable. Nice smell at first, but what a rip-off for water.

  • SHERRI0712/26/2004

I love it!!!!!!!!!!! My soon bought it for me for Xmas, and it is wonderful, I want to buy the body lotion.

  • DIANE10/22/2004

i agree that romance has a masculine edge to it; that's part of why i like it.

  • CHILI-O10/12/2004

Am I the only one who has found this too masculine? It's way too strong and can get annoying. I thought I made a mistake and that it was a man's fragrance but no...oddly enough, it's for women. Long lasting, that's for sure though.

  • PERFUMEFANATIC10/12/2004

I don't hate this but I think it has an unpleasant masculine edge. If it didn't have that, it would be quite nice.

  • JODIE09/08/2004

This one will stop you in your tracks. It is so sexy. Mmmm, it has such a pleasant smell--very suitable for crisp, winter days with a romantic evening anticipated. A classic.

  • REBECCA08/01/2004

Smell is the most powerful thing a woman can have and own as her own. Perfume is the main attraction. This is one of the sexiest scents I've ever smelled. It works for many women, time and time again. Attracts men and women...when you pass by,it's deep and ultra alluring. Because it has notes that smell similar to a version of a man's softer colonge,it's great. When you want to get noticed, where it. When you think it's faded,it's still can be smelled by people around you. I love it! So sexy.

  • NIKKI07/06/2004

i really wanted to like it but when i tried this on at the store, i thought immediately of toilet cleaner.

  • KELLY06/24/2004

A true favorite. I use many fragrances but this always will be one of my tried and true. Never overpowering or offensive. Romantic and girly with a musky undertone. Love it!!!!!

  • JENN06/12/2004

I remember loving this scent, unfortunatly it always smelled like woody cologne on me.

  • KATHY05/07/2004

I have many fragrances, but this is my favorite of all! Very pretty, very romantic. Perfectly named, in my opinion.

  • SUCKER 4 LUV05/06/2004

Very romantic scent. Fresh and floral. Spritz it on and go fall in love!

  • LEFAY05/04/2004

I agree with Marlena. After all the hype, I was so disappointed. Has a synthetic, almost cardboardy scent that never develops.

  • LAURA04/08/2004

"Romance" is the perfect name for this!! I am buying a bottle to wear on my honeymoon!!!

  • PERFUMEGIRL04/08/2004

pretty floral perfume...smells soapy and like spring flowers...

  • SALENA04/05/2004

    Wonderful

  • LINDSEY04/03/2004

    I loved it

  • VANESSA03/12/2004

This is my favorite scent in years! I love fragrances like some love shoes and this one is lovely.

  • MARY K.03/09/2004

Okay, so I don't like transparent florals but I had to try this since it was loved by so many and to me it is very average with no lasting impression. Sorry to say I won't wear this one again!

  • LEANNE02/19/2004

I think they're kind of like Romance. Pleasures, J'Adore, Eternity, Paul Smith, Baby Doll, and Dazzling Gold. Good Luck.

  • MARLENA02/19/2004

Harsh, synthetic smelling, headache inducing, not even very feminine. I wish my colleague would stop wearing it, it makes me sick.

  • NEL02/09/2004

Hi,Jessica i"am one of those fragrance collecters and i always check the ingredients on the fragrance i buy, if you are a bit tired of romance by ralph lauren, try WISH by CHOPARD or LOLITA by LOLITA LEMPICKA and NAOMI by NAOMI CAMPBELL. i think you will like them a lot. GOOD LUCK, NEL

  • RENEE02/08/2004

I get so many complimets on my Ralph Lauren Romance Perfume. Especially from men! Just absolutely love it.

  • NEL02/08/2004

I also love romance you should try WISH by chopard or LOLITA by lolita lempicka also try CASMIR by chopard i think you will like them. good luck.

  • MARÍA02/08/2004

It's how I feel whenever I use Romance, I love it! It brings out the essence and charm of any woman wearing it, being sweet, flowery and fresh but still strong and captivating at the same time. Perfect for a night out on summer, and it makes my boyfriend crazy! He can't stop smelling me all day long =)

  • ANGIE02/02/2004

Romance has an expensive scent to it...very classy and romantic. I love it. It always turns my husband's head when I wear it. He says it is an attractive scent.

  • JESSICA01/21/2004

Thank you so much for your response!! I am going to try some of your recommendations. You are great!

  • JSTAGRL01/08/2004

this was given to me by a former boyfriend and I just wore it for him...after we broke up I think I wore it maybe once more. It's okay, but doesn't do anything for me.

  • TRINIGAL.01/03/2004

Hi jessica, happy new year. I can see from your message that you're totally fed up with this perfume. Well,i have a few faves & it's up to you to try them: Very irresistible by givenchy,Good life by davidoff,White camelia by marie gray, and sui dreams by anna sui.

  • CHAKA12/30/2003

I like this frangrance but I don't wear it that often. If you're into fragrances that are soft.....this isn't for you

  • KATHLEEN12/28/2003

Pretty floral that is soft...nice for spring and summer...pretty girly girl perfume...

  • JESSICA12/27/2003

I have worn Romance for years and have been looking for something new for over a year. I can not find anything else I like, but I am tired of this scent. I want at least another fragramce that I can alternate occasionaly. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

  • ROSE12/23/2003

Pretty soft floral perfume...the rose smells pretty in this...will be nice for spring and summer...smells like a pretty pink perfume....

  • CLAUDIA12/05/2003

I hav both romance & glamorous parfum. But I like romance more than glamorous.Romance is sweet, glamorous smell is heavy than romance.Glamorous is much suitable for dinner o special occasion.

  • JAQUELINE11/29/2003

At first it doesnt smell bad though it develops into something like incredibly cheap, flat, toilet-like smell. In one word its shallow.

  • ANGAL11/05/2003

This I think is a nice year round scent you can wear it whenever. Just lovely

  • HOL11/03/2003

I think this fragrance smells very nice and it is my fiance's favorite. The smell doesn't seem to last long and is very subtle putting on an average amount.

  • PROSPURR08/31/2003

I love this scent. It's a clean, floral fragrance that lasts and lasts. I get compliments when I wear it, especially from men.

  • ILIANA08/30/2003

On my way to work,I got on a bus & I tripped and fell when this cute guy picked me up and then,he became smitten by this perfume. He smiled and said something to me in french, but somehow despite the language barrier i just knew that he loved it very much.

  • MAKENA08/14/2003

After I grew out of Ralph which was perfect until I hit 24, I switched to Romance. I thought it was strong at first but has a wonderful smell after that first note. I no longer use but recommend this fragrance.Love the scent.

  • LAUREN08/10/2003

The best perfume I have ever tried before. I heard currently its the best selling perfume in the country

  • KRISA07/16/2003

this is a nice, classy scent. i hate it now because a horrible roommate wore it everyday, so now i cant smell it without thinking of her. oh well.

  • HEATHER06/27/2003

You are right! I wish it occurred to me that Romance is kitsche! (sp)?:) Over the top in its own way, with an accord of fruit loops!

  • KBN...06/20/2003

This smells very similar to Pleasures but a weaker form. If I didn't already own Pleasures I would probably but it but it smells to much alike. I like Pleasures better.

  • DORA06/17/2003

When I wear " Romance" I feel beautiful and very feminine. It lasts on my skin forever! It`s a wonderful product.

  • RAQUEL05/31/2003

Loved it! I get so many compliments when I wear this scent! Lasts all day long.

  • LAUREN05/18/2003

It's to manly smelling, I don't think I would want to wear it in public. No offense to the people that like it.

  • JOYCE05/07/2003

Nothing Special; smells like a lot of other scents. Not unique or lovely at all in my humble opinion.

    1. it fades away fast. No! it's really sticky. If you can't feel it after an hour or so, that's normal! ask a new person, not the one who was with you all the time, to smell it. I guarantee, he/she will feel it! 2. it's weak. No! it's really strong, and you're gonna feel it on your clothes for a long time (if you don't do your laundry :) ). 3. it's TOO strong. Use a little bit of it, and you'll be ok. 4. it has wood notes. It really depends on your sense of smell. My friend might think it smells like old shoe, I might think it's like garden of roses, it depends. Conclusion: it's a rich smell, more for evening go-outs than daytime. Defenitely, not for an office. If it costs too much for you to buy a big bottle, start with a small one or a tester in the D/S. Try it couple times, and you'll know whether this perfume is for you. Good luck!

This is one of my favorites. It's one of the prettiest scents out there. Nice fresh scent not too musky....very feminine and sexy.

  • NICOLE03/21/2003

I feel so fresh and confident when I wear Romance, I just love the way this fragrace smells!

  • NAT03/17/2003

this fragrance has a long life on my skin although I didn't appreciate the scent too much. It reminded me of cheap perfume.

  • NAT03/17/2003

I think this is so average-smelling, at least on me. I prefer something more unique.

  • NICOLA03/09/2003

Britnee, they make the pure perfume, I think it is worth of trying.

  • BRITTNEE02/26/2003

This smells great I think, very uniquely sexy. However if I spend this kind of money on a fragrance I will expect it to last a long time. I wish they made the pure perfume or even EDP. All that is available is "Eau De Parfume Vaporisitor (sp?)" What does that mean anyway, that it vaporizes of the skin as soon as you spray it on? I think so.

  • NICOLA02/18/2003

This is a fine and elegant fragrance, subtle and feminine. I didn't like it so much at first but now I think it is very pleasant to wear and a scent of a high quality. I don't like heavy scents - this perfume is not the typical floral which can be boring - it is somehow transparent and airy - so refreshing and uplifting!

  • LILA02/16/2003

this is so nasty! dont buy!

  • JUTTA02/15/2003

Definately my favorite scent! Makes me feel sexy and lovely. Inspires romance!

  • COLLEEN02/08/2003

THIS FRAGRANCE REALLY MAKES A STATEMENT.A REALLY GOOD NIGHT TIME FRAGRANCE. A REAL ATTENTION GETTER. CAN STOP TRAFFIC ON ROOM ENTRY.

  • ANTONELLA02/07/2003

That's kind of half-way between YSL "Paris" and "L'eau d'Issey". Floral and refreshing. Light. Romantic. Easy going, easy to wear.

  • RIMA02/06/2003

I very much like this fragrance but no one (not even yourself) knows you're wearing it (it's soooo soft and dissapears soooo quickly)! It is my sister's signature fragrance. She goes the whole nine yards layering it on every morning (bath gel, body lotion, and EDP - YET - I have trouble detecting it on her. And at these prices I think it's a waste of precious $$$. And, while we're on the subject of prices: What's with Perfume Emporium's prices on Romance? The difference in their prices and the dept. store is a matter of a couple of dollars! BIG DEAL! Where's the insentive?

  • KATHY G.02/01/2003

You asked about how to make fragrance last longer on you and be more noticeable. Someone already posted about layering fragrance products, and that is one good way to accomplish this. Another tip I have is to never use deodorant soap. If you do, it will make your fragrance disappear rapidly. Deodorant soaps and body sprays are made to do one thing: eliminate odor. Unfortunately they're not programmed to differentiate between good and bad odors. When deodorant products meet up with *any* smell, their job is to eradicate it. The best product to use for bathing is the matching bath and shower gel or cream to the perfume you're using, or else a mild, non-deodorant, creamy soap or bath gel. If you have dry skin, it won't hold on to fragrance like oilier skin does. So my advice is to moisturize your body so it won't be as dry and will hold scent longer. I work for a major cosmetics and fragrance company, and these are the same tips I give my customers. Good luck! :)

  • SASSYGRL01/17/2003

Romance fits this scent quite well. I find that I wear this one when I am in a romantic mood. Sexy, my man loves this one too!

  • APRIL01/05/2003

this is a very nice soft floral. i'd say too soft though ; i have to spray on a quater bottle if i want a compliment.

  • HULAGIRL12/30/2002

Can someone who loves Romance please tell me which they'd prefer...EDP vs. parfum in this fragrance. My husband loves the smell and i want one real soon....huryy and reply!

  • ELLE12/27/2002

Truly Romantic in every way a great fragrance by Ralph Lauren.

  • SUSAN12/17/2002

I love Romance! In fact i love the whole Ralph Lauren line. Ralph is a wonderful summer smell, romace is more my fall, and Glamourus is my winter smell cause it is so warm! They are all so wonderul!

  • ELE11/19/2002

VERY NICE SCENT FOR A BRIEF MOMENT THEN IT DISAPPEARS.

  • AUNTGOOEY11/18/2002

really comes out on me. I like the base notes of patchouli, oakmoss and woods too. This is one of the few florals that work on me. It's not too sweet. The ginger gives it a nice sharp bite. Works for both the office and in the evening. And an added bonus is that the bottle is very beautiful and elegant.

  • JASMINE11/12/2002

Smells like green apples at first, then progresses into what smells like a fabric softner.

  • SANDY10/14/2002

I have hundreds of scents that I have bought over the years and nothing compares to Romance. I admit I have been a fan of Lauren fragrances for years, but this is by far the best. Doesn't matter if I find something new, I always go back to this one. My boyfriend loves it. I keep getting compliments from complete strangers about how good I smell.....

  • DAWN10/08/2002

My husband and daughter gave this to me for Mother's Day two years ago and every time I put Romance on I clearly remember that day. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day without a cloud in the sky - the perfect spring day is how I would describe the scent of Romance. I love it.

  • JENNY, SWEDEN10/07/2002

This is my all time favourite!! I wear it almost every day and people love it. The sillage (spelling?) is wonderful. I wear it do cocktail parties, to work and out clubbing! My boyfriend loves it!

  • LINDA10/04/2002

    It smells wonderful!

  • $ LIZZY $10/02/2002

    I love this!

  • CAROLINA08/31/2002

If you don't like the traditional version of romance, you should try the limited edition "sensual notes of Romance" because it doesn't has that woody dry down wich reminds me to a masculin fragance. The sensual version has the best of the beautiful romance fragance.

  • TAPDANCER7808/26/2002

This is one of the best perfumes I've ever tried. I love it! It smells heavenly, the scent lasts... Mmm. I bought a mini and it will be gone in no time. :)

  • KRISTIN08/11/2002

if you like Romance you'll love Perry Ellis' new scent Reserve, very similar...less expencive

  • SYED08/04/2002

    Makes me wanna...

  • VANESSA07/24/2002

It is beautiful. Never crossed anything like it before. You can use it everyday or out. Unlike other purfumes where there is a time when to use. Very recommended, the day i had it on many people asked me what's that smell, its beautiful.

  • NICOLE07/17/2002

Both perfumes are of great quality and are distinctive, elegant. I just bought Glamourous which I love because it's predominantly floral, soft, sweet, warm. I tried Romance last year but I couldn't keep wearing it because the dry-down is too spicy. I cannot tolerate spicy carnation, like L'Air du Temps from Nina Ricci and also Pleasures from Estee Lauder. But for those that it doesn't bother, Romance is perfectly well done.

  • INES06/09/2002

Is it true that Glamourous has almost the same base notes like Romance, but is warmer? Is there similarity between these two perfumes (as I have heard)? I know Romance but haven't try Glamourous yet. For me Romance is just an average floral. I'd like something more soft...

  • KRISTY05/23/2002

I love this scent. I searched for years for something I could wear everyday, and I finally found it. I get compliments constantly on how good I smell!!!

  • ??05/20/2002

What do you think about Glamourous?

  • ERIC05/16/2002

Love to smell ladies wearing this one. I feel like in the cartoons the character is floating after the scent in the air. It's incredible.

  • PERFUMEGIRL05/08/2002

Just tell your girlfriend that you were in a store and one of the salesgirls asked you to sample the scent, or something like that, and you really think it would be beautiful on her. DON'T tell her that you smelled it on another girl and liked it, because it might make her jealous - telling her you think another girl smelled good is kind of like telling her you think another girl is pretty. Just buy her a bottle- almost all girls love getting fragrance for a gift.

  • SONJA05/08/2002

its ok, but I got sick of it after 1 week of wearing it. The scent is too spicy and not very feminine.

  • GABE05/07/2002

A girl at school wears this and it drives me insane! How can I get my girlfriend to wear it? SHe is extremly loyal to the same brand, and if I buy it, and ask her to wear it, her female radar will kick on high detection mode and she will ask me who did I smell it on.

  • GIRLIE04/13/2002

    It's true...it's romance...It's forever

  • CARLA04/02/2002

too expensive for what it is. Woody and resh/sharp at the same time. Does't dry down well on me.

  • ASHLEY03/31/2002

I love this fragrance. Everyone at my school compliments me on it and my boyfriend oves it. At $80 a bottle(where I live)its a bargain. I highly recommend you buy this. It's all I wear.

  • ST03/18/2002

Floral, smells of dew dropped flowers!! Beautiful and elegant.

  • AMY02/21/2002

This is an Awesome scent. I highly recommend it anyone who wants to try something new.

  • SOPHIA01/25/2002

The first perfum when i used the whole bottle in 3 months. others stay yers. my cousin asked her boyfriend to get it for her, cause she liked it on me. now i don't have it and i forgot the smell. but every time she wears it i compliment her.and she answers "romance''

  • JANUARY01/07/2002

    Board about Glamourous dissapeared...

  • SUSAN01/04/2002

I agree with those who find this one boring with no character....Keep trying Ralph...

  • GIRLY GIRL12/31/2001

I bought this perfume only to have a guy tell me that I smell like his mom. It's too strong & I wouldn't recommend anyone buying it.

  • HAPPYGIRL12/31/2001

I love this scent and so does my man. It lasts long on me. Men that I work with are always wanting to sniff me. Does smell kind of soft and powdery but I like that.

  • AIMEE12/30/2001

This has no real smell to it. You can get a tub of dusting powder in the cheap area at Walmart and smell the same!

  • APRIL12/07/2001

Chenni, you might try layering the fragrance to get it to last longer. Try the shower gel or body lotion (or both) and then put the perfume on top. Hope this helps you!

  • HT11/29/2001

Glamourous smells ok. I prefer ralph and romance more.

  • CHENNI11/18/2001

I don't know if it's just me or what, whenever I wear Romance, I don't smell it at all. Neither do people around me. I have to spray a lot of it in order to get a little bit of smell. Does anyone have tips about how to wear it to make it last?

  • DANIELLE MARIE11/13/2001

Romance is a Great smelling purfume! I dont care how much it costs.....I Love how it drives all the guys wild!

  • JOLENE11/13/2001

I agree with Giovanna. Glamourous has strong notes of tuberose, mixed with calla lily, clementine, and vetiver. It smells good, but it is a bit average. I prefer Michael, Mahora or Fracas for a fragrance with tuberose.

  • WG11/10/2001

Thank you Karina and Giovanna!!! You are great girls, thank for help. Karina, I read your comments very often, and I appreciate them very much.

  • GIOVANNA11/09/2001

"Glamourous" has very strong Tuberose notes. It reminds me of Michael Kors' "Michael", but a lot more flowery, almost citrusy. Michael is creamier, more sensuous and intense. Hope that helps.

  • KARINA11/08/2001

I recently tried the new Glamorous from Ralph Lauren, and found it rather mediocre. Not offensive, but nothing special, either. Just smelled like your basic perfume, with no distinguishing characteristics. If anything, it reminded me a lot of Romance, as if they just took its basic formula and added some new elements- picture a somewhat warmer, richer version of Romance, I suppose. Just okay, in my opinion.

  • WG11/06/2001

Anyone tried new R. Lauren's fragrance "Glamurous"? Could you tell me what is it like, is it similar to something we know so far? Thank you!!

  • JOLENE10/14/2001

I like Romance a lot, but I'm highly allergic to it. Perhaps it's because Romance is a very sharp floral. It's the only fragrance that I know of (besides Diorrissmo by Christian Dior) that I'm extremely allergic to. Whenever I spray it on me, I sneeze for about a half hour! It's a nice fragrance though, and I wish I could wear it. :)

  • JULIE10/14/2001

Romance is MY signature perfume!!! I don't go a day without it and there isn't a day that goes by I dont get a compliment on how good I smell! Men absolutely LOVE it and this smell puts my boyfriend under a spell! One wiff of this and he's all mine!! I'd pay ANY price for this perfume!!!

  • VIKI09/17/2001

Kind of "kitch". Too floral and sharp.

  • MARGARET09/08/2001

This perfume is one of the best for evening wear. It definitely gets people's attention.

  • CATARINA08/25/2001

You're the only girl at the office? It's not the perfume, you silly! It's you!

  • SISSIE07/02/2001

I watched one Christmas as a perfume girl went around the store with this fragrance. The men went crazy over it. I bought it that day ( I work with all men). There is not one day that I wear it that the men don't comment on it how good I smell. I wear other perfumes, but do not get the raves that I get with Romance.

  • ALIYAH KHAN06/15/2001

this perfume is so sexual!it gets my boyfriend in the mood!he loves smelling me!

  • JUDY PINTON06/12/2001

All my friends have bought Romance since I started wearing it. Someone is always asking me what I have on the smells so gooooooood

  • JOSIE04/06/2001

Romance is a great spring frangrance with a bouquet of flowers and a powdery finish. Often people stop me after I have passed by them to say that they like my perfume.

  • RACHEL LYNCH03/20/2001

Great Sweet sexy scent but it doesn't last.

  • PATRICK CORDOVA12/16/2000

Romance is a sweet smelling fragrance that is nice, but a little too expensive.

  • GEMINI09/07/2000

I use Romance and I have always gotten compliments about how great I smell. It is a sweet, soft scent. I love it.
