| I was recently informed by a [cologne expert] that tartaric acid and citric acid are used as preservatives and are probably not the reason for the sour note in this cologne. But I stand by my previous review that there is something off-putting in this most recent formulation of this once great cologne. But I just can't identify the source. |

| I discovered this charming scent back in the 1980s when I was in college. I recently finished my old bottle from that period and rushed out to purchased a new one. Immediately upon application, I noticed something was wrong. My beautiful cologne now carried a SOUR note that was never there before. When I compared the new bottle to my old bottle from the 1980s, I noticed that the ingredients had been altered. This new formulation now contains tartaric acid and citric acid - which explains the sourness. Vintage Royal Copenhagen is gone and it has been replaced with this foul mess. I'll never understand why companies tamper with perfection. What's next? ....a moustache on the Mona Lisa? |
