Love this fragrance - elegant and grown up

  • B08/08/2007

A perfume for old ladies??? A man's point of view...this is totally intoxicating and will make me do anything you ask.....

  • MARCY 06/29/2007

This is not my favorite perfume, but I am very picky and can wear very few. It is one that I can wear and I have to say that I have not experienced another like it. So many of the popular brands you find at the mall are the same scent in different packaging.

  • LE NEZ05/06/2007

It is hard to believe this was introduced at the end of the 20th century! This seems to be taken from a long lost perfumer's secret recipe. Every time I try it, it seems different. By all means, one of the best French perfumes ever!

  • LIANI04/27/2007

I was disappointed this cost so much and all i could detect on me was a single note of rose or dried rose petal. But I do love Eau du Ciel and consider it her best frag. My real complaint about Goutal's scents is that they disappear SO quickly! If they cost even half of what they did and lasted the same, I'd still feel like it wasn't worth the money and I'd been ripped off. The real mystery is why I go ahead and buy more of it when I know it won't last. I guess I'm always hoping for more. So, why is there no stronger alternative? In some cases, these cost as much as perfume, but they last like eau de cologne! Also, with lots of fragrances the higher concentrations have their own scent variations and traits. We never get to experience that with Goutal's. It just makes no sense to create (or purchase) an elaborate work of olfactory art that dissapears within an hour. I will not buy any more of her frags no matter how hard the samples I try tease me.

This scent absolutely sings on my skin. It's a very bright, very rosey scent. I love that for a mainly rose scent, it isn't too powdery or too woody. This is everything I wanted YSL Paris to be. It has a better dry-down, and lasts twice as long. I only need three sprays to be fully perfumed. I'm thirty, and I would never feel like an old women wearing this. It actually makes me feel young. I wore Tea Rose when I was fourteen, and this brings me back to those days. It's very feminine, and my favorite AG scent so far, with Petite Cherie second.

  • ANDREA A.10/11/2006

Oh, I don't know...That was not nice on me...I was very disappointed. Very oldfahioned and heavy...completely unimpressive.

  • CHARLOTTE07/28/2006

OK, just have to say this, I have sampled and sprayed several of these sents and cannot fine a single one - not yet that is - that does not smell like something someones grandmother would wear. I just find these disappointing in light of the beautiful bottles and romantic names. Maybe I just haven't tried the right one yet. They just all smell awful to me.

  • SCENTADDICT02/23/2004

beautiful at first, then dries down to a uriney scent. couldn't wash it off fast enough

  • LOUISE11/13/2003

I sprayed this on and all I could smell a half hour later was HONEY, HONEY, HONEY. It wasn't unpleasant, but that was about all there was to it.

  • HOLLYGIRL07/19/2003

Mmmm....this one is so sweet yet light and sparkly. Not overpowering at all. I love it. Can't stop sniffing myself.

  • ELLIZA07/11/2003

strong central rose, a FRESH garden rose. hints of other flowers - VERY soft hints. didn't get the peach/pear, but was expecting it in the Petite Cherie strength. this is much more subtle. very lovely. have edt, can't wait to try edp!

  • NAKEDCITY06/28/2003

Very well balanced fruity floral, rose and pear combined with peach and a touch of green freshness. I had been looking for a rose scent that agreed with me, this is it. The lasting power of the EDP is great, a little harsher top notes than the EDT. This one is not your typical powdery rose grandma scent. Gorgeous!

  • MIMI04/11/2003

This is the most subtle, sexy rose fragrance - I love it!

  • YVA04/06/2003

Kim, Folavril is sweet/heavy, not very sophisticated - not very nice im my opinion. It was the first (or one of the first) Annick Goutal's perfume. You asked about Eau de Ciel: I was in Paris last summer and of course I saw it there in all A. Goutal's stores and in big department stores, but I don't know if you can order it via E-mail. By! :)

  • KIM03/12/2003

Does anyone know where I can find Eau du Ciel - it's the nicest perfume but we can't get her fragrances in Canada. Also, can anyone tell me what Folavril smells like?

  • CAZ01/06/2003

I love it!! It's very soft and flowery, yet not pungently scented. My other similar favorite is Joy. No I am not a grandma..not even a mother...yet old enough to enjoy the finer things in life

  • DESIREE12/31/2002

This, on me, is my most favorite fragrance yet. My mother and I both tried this at Bloomingdale's one day. On her, I must admit, it was not nearly as yummy and mouth-watering as it was on me. During the course of the day the scent changes, and by the end of the day, on me, it was a rosey-chocolatey smell, but very light. I don't usually like a chocolatey scent. This smells different on everyone, so rather than go by the public's opinions and ratings, you need to test it out on yourself.

  • LEA12/16/2002

You go Lori ! Your comments were awesome regarding this wonderful fragrance. Ce Soir Ou Jamais is my favorite perfume because it smells so rich and sexy! I think the negative comments concerning this perfume are definitely over the top. This scent should only be worn by women with class and who don't want to smell like every other women on the street. For those that don't like it or think it is over priced you may want to stick with Avon. For the ladies that want a sexy and different fragrance you should go for it! Smelling like a sexy, classy, and rich older french diva with class is not a bad deal (smile).

  • JASMINE10/31/2002

or rose oil is what this fragrance smells like, so if you like those scents, you'll like this. I think Grand Amour is her best fragrance.

  • MAGGIE10/13/2002

I don't know what all the fuss about Goutal is. The scents are ok, but all of them are absurdly overpriced. And the name! "Tonight or Never"? Please! Sounds like the title to a tacky 60s song. Definitely overrated.

  • LORI09/06/2002

I do agree with Bee, I am so dissappointed to have read the negative comments by some people who regard this great scent as 'Old Lady's Scent' only because it contains the authentic essence of Turkish Rose. I think this scent is one of the Classiscs of the gorgeous scents created in the recent years. I truly respect & admire the work of more than 10 years done by Ms. Annick Goutal who had passed away a few years ago. I used to wear several fragrances such as Champs-Elysee by Guelain, or Babydoll by YSL, or PARIS by YSL, and of course, that classic "TEA ROSE" by Artisan de Perfumerie because I am basically attracted to scent that contains the real & natural flower essences: especially rose. However, I am telling you all, this "Ce Soir Ou Jamais" is one of the Best and most Wonderful fragrance that I had experienced ever!! In my 'fav' list for fragrances, "Ce Soir Ou Jamais" and "Wings" by Giorgio Beverly Hills are the most Gorgeous scents. Ladies who have the class and love 'rosy & gorgeous' scents, try this one. You would not regret it!

  • ANNETTE07/14/2002

I love most of the Annick Goutal perfume, but just not Ce Soir Ou Jamais, a NEVER for me too. Try Camille & Petite Cherie for casual and Grand Amour for evening. They are my favourite.

  • KATIA06/03/2002

I agree that scents are very subjective. I was not lucky with this one. It is very heavy & cloying & boring on me. Can't wear it, and I wish I could (the name sounds so good!!!). For me this is one of the worst fragrances of Annick Goutal (maybe the worst).

  • BEE05/11/2002

I smelled this perfume for the first time in Nordstrom's. A very sophisticated rep of Lithuanian descent brought it over to me. She said it reminded her of Bulgarian roses (whatever they smell like). I can definitely detect roses. The whole experience was so great that I left the counter feeling that this was THE fragrance for me. Prior to this I had always worn Sung. I wore Ce Soir to a dance tonight and one of the men I danced with liked it very much. Disappointed to see so many grandma comments. But then, scents are very subjective.

  • HANA03/25/2002

Very heady and heavy. Boring, like the most of A. Goutal's fragrances.

  • BROOKE03/09/2002

    sexy!!!!!love this!

  • V.V.01/16/2002

*Tonight or never*? Never. I don't like it. It really has something of "old grannie's" smell to it! My big dissapointment.

  • VANESSA01/15/2002

I put this one on a wrist, La Violette on the other and asked my boyfriend what he thought. He said "This one smells like rotten flowers (about Ce Soir) and the other smells kinda nice (about La Violette)". I love asking guys what they think about my perfumes. I always get funny and sincere answers. I like both fragrances mentioned above, but Ce Soir really appeals to me. It has a unique rose scent that I love. La Violette is very nice, fresh and flowery, but the other one is better. They had no staying power, though, even when I tried the EDP versions.

  • WENDY01/08/2002

I love this scent - it reminds me of Paris. I like the rose int it.

  • ANDREA11/26/2001

Heavy and boring, kind of *fragrance for old ladies*. I don't like it. But I respect A. Goutal's philosophy of making fragrances, so I'll give it 2 out of 5, not 1 out of 5.

  • V.10/20/2001

I don't like this scent. Only it's name is nice and intriguing ("Tonight or Never"). But the fragrance itself is not alluring.

  • SANDRA09/18/2001

My fav Annick Goutal fragrance... It has a classic ROSE fragrance.

  • CATARINA08/30/2001

Actually, what the heck does this smell like.

  • CATARINA08/28/2001

I don't like the way this fragrance smells on my skin, but if I spray it in the air I am able to catch a beautiful rose scent.

  • This scent combines a lasting memory of jamsmine, gardenia and others-peach etc. to leave a lingering scent.
