  • MARY08/27/2012

forgot to rate this perfume last time. In Church and elsewhere when we have a hug I get told how lovely my fragrance is...like a whisper of spring flowers

  • DEBBIE01/13/2012

The perfume purchased was as a gift and it had been hard to come by. My friend was so happy with it!! Delivery was prompt as well. (considering it was over the christmas period.)

  • CAROL S.01/06/2012

Love Vanderbilt perfume. It is feminine, mysterious and not overbearing or heavy. Been using for years, but am having more and more problems finding it locally. Thanks for carrying this product Perfume Emporium!

  • MARY12/28/2011

Delighted with my purchase, 'specially as it is one of my favorites for over 20 years and at half the price. Not available at retailers lately.

  • COY12/13/2011

The Vanderbilt perfume selling at the moment is NOT the same perfume it used to be. It doesn't last. The girls at the Pharmacy tried to tell me it was the same but it isn't. I should know I wear it all the time. Where do I get the good stuff?

  • BENNIE12/10/2010

Beautiful and fantastic flowery smell, but availability is the in shops is the problem.

  • MARION12/31/2009

ordered in 2007 from EZ4you-can,t find again-would like to order the same items as then-vanderbuilt is hard to find here

  • SUNSHINE08/10/2008

I LOVE Vanderbilt! I have worn this fragrance since day one and have had more men tell me how great I smell! They want it for their wives! I am having a very difficult time finding it, please don't tell me it has been discontinued!

  • JUDI W*07/26/2008

I wore this when I was very young. The ironic thing about that is, now it is my Mom's scent, and for me, not so much. It just suits her, not saying this is "old ladyish", but it appeals to her more than me. She gets alot of compliments on it. Go Mom!!

  • JUDY SHINN07/08/2008

I CAN'T FIND THE POWDER ANYMORE, DID THEY QUIT MAKING IT? I SURE MISS IT. I HAVE USED IT FOR YEARS ALONG WITH THE BODY LOTION, WHICH IS ALSO HARD TO FIND. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? LET ME KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND EITHER ONE. HAVE HAD MANY COMPLIMENTS ON IT WHEN I WEAR IT.

  • ANNIE05/14/2008

I wore this so many years ago. I remember years ago someone asking me what fragrance I was wearing. When I told her it was "Vanderbilt" she chuckled and said, "Oh, I didn't know it smelled like that." Snobs everywhere, lol! This is a truly lovely, slightly spicy white floral (floriental?). It reminds me a bit of Oscar from the same era, except that Vanderbilt has a little bit of pineapple in the top, which makes it sweet and interesting to me. Drydown is lush and sexy. I have a small bottle that I enjoy from time to time.

  • GINGER05/09/2008

What about her lotion? It is good stuff too. Both the perfume and lotion. I sure would love to be able to find them to buy.

  • JEANINE PARK03/23/2008

I have used the Vanderbilt Body Powder for years and now suddenly I can't find it anymore. Is it discontinued or what? I'm also having a hard time finding the parfum. What about it? I love both of these products!!

  • PATTY01/17/2008

I too, am searching for Vanderbilt Parfum. What has happened to it? Who can we contact to bring it back? The cologne doesn't last nearly as long.

  • GLENDA12/28/2007

I love Vanderbilt. Have worn it for 20 years+. Love it but can't find it in stores anymore. HELP

  • GG10/12/2007

I, too, am on my last bottle of VBilt Parfum. Has it been discontinued? Some of the messages say Red Door is very similar - true? Don't know what to try - have also had strangers tell me how good I smell! Help!!!

  • SEXY KITTEN01/16/2007

this scent always reminds me of beautiful feminine dresses or swingy skirts and silk scarves blowing in the wind as you walk down the street on a spring day...very fresh yet a sultry dry down...similar to oscar de la renta in many ways but vanderbilt has a little more in the way of white flowers and a little less musk...more of a spring/ summer fragrance while oscar is more a year round one.

  • PAT11/27/2006

I am with Rosann, I am also on my last bottle, which I used to get at Walgreens and now cannot find the Vanderbilt Eau De Parfum anywhere. What's going on? Everyone was always asking me where I got the great smelling cologne.

  • MARY G09/02/2006

There is a major difference between parfums and colognes. Vanderbilt can still be purchased as a cologne but what I am looking for is the parfum. Anyone know if this is still available?

  • ROSSANN09/02/2006

Was intrigued by the message that indicated because Vanderbilt is a "drugstore" fragrance it doesn't get the respect it should. I most definitely agree. I have many friends who spend mega-bucks on new designer fragrances but they will drage me all over telling people how wonderful they feel I smell. I am devestated to have come up against a blank wall where I no longer can locate the "eau de parfum". That's what I want most of all. Anyone have any suggestions? I am on my last bottle. Thanks

  • GREEKGIRL07/11/2006

This is a very underrated fragrance IMO, it is beautiful, classical and very sexy and lingers for hours, i have the EDT and it lasts for ages, does anyone know if the EDP smells the same or is slightly different? also is very similar to Red Door and Oscar, a heavenly fragrance that i think will be around for a long time. Also very cheap for what you get.

  • KATHY03/17/2006

It is so funny to see your message here! I am getting ready to order a bottle of Paris, this very minute! Yes, I think we do have very good tastes. Love these romantic floral sort of scents. If you run across any more beautiful perfumes, please post. Thanks, Kathy

  • SYLVIE03/17/2006

Hi Pia, I remember your posting, that you were the "best smelling girl" in your company when wearing Red Door in the 90ies. Right...??? Similar to Vanderbilt. Very nostalgic, ultra-feminine and complex fragrances. Powdery, sweet and delightful. Enjoy! Best wishes, Sylvie.

  • PIA03/13/2006

I love Vanderbilt, wore it for my wedding in the 80's,just purchased a bottle ,I also love Paris, just purchased a bottle of it too,we ladies have good taste in fragrance!

  • SCARLETT02/28/2006

The swan symbolizes the grace and beauty of this scent. Thank you so much for creating my signature perfume, Gloria darling. Love, Scarlett

  • KATHY02/06/2006

Yes, I agree with you. I also let my nose deicide what smells good on me. I don't waste money on perfume for the sake of buying a name brand that is "cool". I love these romantic perfumes. I stay away from vanilla bean and strawberrys, just isn't what I want to sell like! I also got a whiff of Paris by YSL for the first time a few weeks ago, and I intend to buy that beautiful fragrance also. Try it, if you haven't already. We know we smell good!

  • SYLVIE01/29/2006

Hi Kathy, you posted a nice review. I agree with you that Red Door and Vanderbilt have some similarity. Both fragrances are underrated IMO. Red Door is "too 80ies", and Vanderbilt is a "drugstore" fragrance. These are the permanent negative arguments against both scents. I let my nose decide, what's good :-). I love Vanderbilt more than Red Door. Vanderbilt seems to me more complex and mysterious. The soft-oriental drydown is incredible wonderful and ultra-feminine! If I'm informed correctly, Vanderbilt was created by Sophia Grojsman, a great perfumer. She is very popular and successful (Paris, Eternity, Yvresse/Champagne for example). Vanderbilt is a great fragrance! A masterpiece. Happy sniffing, Sylvie.

  • KATHY01/12/2006

This is a beautiful perfume. Not too strong but lasting. It is my alternative to Red Door,a little less aggressive, but I still love that also. This one is really pretty and feminine. I love it! I smell only floral in this one, no vanilla, thank god!! The floral is just magnificent, I smell the carnation..Beautiful!

  • SUE12/31/2005

I received this for a gift. Its was horrible. I had to scrub it off as my husband had an asthma attack from it. Too strong.

  • MARY J10/21/2005

I have been looking for Petals, very soft and sexy fragrance. Has another fragrance replaced it?

  • LALA10/11/2005

First perfume ever had when I was 13, I liked it then, not -as- much now, but every now and then.

  • MARY09/04/2005

That used to be "my" scent. I always got so many compliments on it. I found some bottles at a Kmart closeout about 4 yrs ago. That was the last time I saw any. I wish I could find some. I have a very very small bottle of it left with about 2 more uses. I am saving it for my wedding day.....whenever that will be!

  • ROCHELLE09/03/2005

THIS IS ONE THAT REMINDS ME OF MY MOM, SHE USED TO WEAR IT WHEN I WAS A KID. IT'S SOFT AND CLEAN SMELLING, NOT LOUD AND MUSKY LIKE SO MANY OTHER 1980'S PERFUMES. I WOULDN'T WEAR IT MYSELF, IT'S A LITTLE MATURE FOR ME, BUT I LIKE IT ON OTHER PEOPLE.

  • MIMI08/20/2005

vanderbilt isnt my type of perfume, however my mom loves it. Its a low key, powdery scent. Very distinguishable.

  • PERFUME FANATIC06/15/2005

I'm giving this 4 stars because this is a cut above most of the drug store perfumes I've smelled. This used to be an old favorite of mine. Nice.

  • HARRIET02/27/2005

I love this fragrance and I guess others do also as I have often had people stop me in the mall to ask what fragrance I'm wearing.

  • MONIQUE MANTELLE02/14/2005

As a lover of designer perfumes, Vanderbilt is tres excellent in my opinion. To Gloria, thank you for designing it, I truly love it. It is Nuit D'amour in a bottle, romantic and flowery, cher fille. If you are interested in looking to achete this scent, then take mon advice and do achete! Best Regards, Monique M.

  • EUGENIE01/30/2005

I used to have this perfume when I was sixteen. It was as light and tender as a silk scarf... it's really good. Now, at 27, I think I'm a bit too mature for it (just my opinion). I still like it, anyway...

  • SHARRIE12/27/2004

each petal makes the beautful. awesome great stuff. an awakening. a daze in the future. wonderful.

  • LEA12/20/2004

I have been searching high and low for the fragrance called "Petals" by Vanderbilt but cant seem to find it anywhere. Is the now "Vanderbilt" the evolved fragrance that I am searching for?

  • SYLVIE10/15/2004

Hi Laura! This IS the bottle with the swan! The classic and first scent by Gloria Vanderbilt in the lilac box. Smells similar to Oscar by Oscar de la Renta. Both soft-oriental, powdery, ultra-feminine scents, and familiar with L'heure Bleue by GUERLAIN. Hope this info is helpful for you. Maybe years ago it was called "Gloria Vanderbilt"... Greetings from Germany.

  • LAURA10/13/2004

Does anybody know if there was a gloria vanderbilt scent that had a swan on the bottle but I dont think it was called vanderbilt, Ithink it was just called gloria vanderbilt - Icant fnd it

  • ALLEN09/23/2004

It was my hubby who introduced me to it,so i find it romantic.

  • PIA08/30/2004

I recently purchased Glorious and it is wonderful, it is evn better than all of G.V,'s other fragrances. it is very feminine, soft and sexy and another plus, the dusting powder is available as well. Try it!!!

  • PIA06/17/2004

Wore this the first few years when it first came out in the early 80's. Loved it then and recently purchased the eau de parfum, bath gel and dusting powder. It is a feminine and lovely scent. Love the powder!

  • MARY K. 05/02/2004

Offensive, headache-inducing fragrance (only my opinion....I'm sorry I just can't stand it!). Another thing is that it lingers FOREVER....not exactly a good thing with this scent.

  • SKY04/18/2004

People who say this type of fragrance is boring must be missing some type of receptor in the brain that recognises how pleasurable they are.

  • SYLVIE03/30/2004

One of the best but underrated perfume over twenty years!!! This ultra feminine fragrance is classy and very sensual and it lingers for hours. Such a complex, sweet, soft and well balanced scent. Yes it's true,*Vanderbilt* smells "old-fashioned" because it is similar to Guerlain's famous and excellent *L'HEURE BLEUE*, which was already created in the year 1912!!! L'HEURE BLEUE is still today very popular, expensive and hard to find. REAL BEAUTY IS TIMELESS. So please Ladies, enjoy the fragrance YOU love and trust your nose and your own taste.

  • GENEVA DAKE03/19/2004

BEEN USING GLORIA VENDERBILT FOR 12 YEARS ...LOVE IT... RECOMMENED IT HIGHLY..THANKS

  • PATTYCAKES03/17/2004

smells like something my grandmother would wear. Not for the young.

  • YAYA01/21/2004

    smell like an old lady

  • MARTHA01/09/2004

    Air pollution

  • DIAN01/08/2004

I always get lots of attention when I wear this. Men (and women )love it without exception. Angel by Thierry Mugler; Samsara & Jean Paul Gaultier are the only other contenders as far as wow factor & amourous advances are concerned. Give it a try.

  • DIMMA GREECE12/29/2003

One month ago,on a "perfume trying day",i saw this on the back of the shelf.I was curious of what wougd be in this lilac box with the swan so i asked to try it.I found it nice!!A little bit too sweet ,but powdery and floral in an old fashioned way that like.It reminded me of one of my mom`s friends.Maybe she was wearing this 20 years ago!!!

  • CHRISSY11/25/2003

This was a nice scent in its day. Still is nice. But I think that there are alot more choices that I would go with today..Try it though..the price and avalibilty are nice.

  • MARY 06/15/2003

Yes, I do remember V and like a lot more than Gloria Vanderbilt. I think it has been discontinued, but I still have a bottle (found it at an outlet store). Also, check E-Bay; I just saw some on there!!!

  • ROANNA S05/09/2003

this is the most invigorating fragrance i have ever smelt. it makes you feel all woman.

  • LAURA M.04/14/2003

Fantastic, only fragrance I will wear, have used it since 1982! Love it!

  • LALA04/12/2003

the scent is cool my mom wears this one i prefer though the fragrance v by gloria

  • M.J.03/01/2003

I really like this fragrance, and I always have. It reminds me very much of Oscar de la Renta. But I actually prefer Vanderbilt. It has a much softer, more feminine quality about it, at least it does on me. I wore Vanderbilt all through middle school, a time that was pretty happy for me, and I think that's why I like it so much.

  • SIDNEY 12/30/2002

This is still around?? it was never good it always smelled cheap to me!

  • STEPHANIE12/19/2002

Does anyone know what happened to this scent? It came out around 1994 and was in a sorta tall bottle and the liquid was pink. Anyway I loved it and I don't think it is sold anymore.. anyone know anything about it?? (And I don't see it on here..)

  • LAURIE11/06/2002

I love it -- I have tried other scents but I always go back to Vanderbilt

  • GRANDMA10/15/2002

Even on old dolls like me. Wonderful in summertime, when I occasionally wear it.

  • THERESA08/10/2002

They used to make it in a body wash that was excellent still trying to find it again. Many com-pliments when I wear the product.

  • ALLISON07/26/2002

    That about says it.

  • YBW05/01/2002

Hi ladies does anyone remember or currently use a scent called Petals from Vanderbilt I have done searches on this stuff and have come up with nothing I would like to know the notes I currently own 2 bottles and it bothers me that I don't know what is making me smell so good thanks in advance .

  • STEPHANIE03/27/2002

I wore this in junior high. I don't think I could ever go back that far. Anyway, I remember this as being a very sweet, flowery scent typical of those often aimed at young girls.

  • LIZ03/01/2002

    Really floral and sweet

  • W. MARTINEZ01/01/2002

i've been looking for a supplier of vanderbilt by gloria vanderbilt here in manila, philippines but could not find one. can you direct me to a representative or agent here

  • KELLY12/28/2001

I get a lot of comments on how great it smells when I wear it. I have been wearing it for about 10 years. Just wish the packages were available all year round instead of just at Christmas. It is the only perfume I wear.

  • AIMEE12/20/2001

A light scent of sweet flowers; clean; powdery; green; soap; 50/50 bar. My boyfriend's comment: Too sweet.

  • SANDRA 06/13/2001

THIS IS THE BEST SMELLING PERFUME IT MAKES ME THINK OF SPRING TIME IN A GARDEN.RED DOOR COMES CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL SCENT. I FINALLY FOUND WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR.
